    • @oldcdog91
      @oldcdog91 5 лет назад +75

      don't know what the original poster's reasons were but, speaking for myself, there are a couple of reasons I prefer the armorsmith:
      1. the unique item you get - Boarback shield vs. Tusk - is much more useful. Tusk is the only agiliy-based 2h sword in the game and you only need 1 agility so it's a good sword that you can pickup and use right away. But I've found that by this point in the game, I had sufficient strength to use the better, higher damage, strength-based longswords so having Tusk wasn't an upgrade. By comparison, the Boarback is literally the best shield in the game with the highest Defense rating and Durability (i think) while being lower weight than any of the Bouche shields. If you're not a shield guy then this isn't a big deal but it won't be long before Tusk is sitting, unused, in your inventory.
      2. the armorsmith is better for making money, imo. just based on what you see in the town ledger, the two business provide the exact same income and I don't think there's a significant difference in the craftsmen you can recruit from Sassau. Whether you take Swordsmith Fink, Armorsmith Ota or Armorsmith Zach, you get about the same amount of added income. But if you like to fight, clear out bandit camps and stop for ambushes, you'll find yourself with more armor to sell than weapons. An enemy will have one weapon to sell (maybe two if he's a bowman) but, at higher levels, each enemy may have 3-5 armor pieces worth selling even if they're damaged. Armorsmith Zach never seemed to have much money for trade in Sassau, but in Pribyslavitz, his available wealth can rise to match the armorsmith in Rattay and Master Ota in Sassau so you now have 3 places to sell armor pieces

  • @KRIMZONMEKANISM
    @KRIMZONMEKANISM 4 года назад +66

    *I will put this plainly from my experience.*
    *.Swordsmith:* not a good use of your time and money because the big boi groschen are found on high level armor worn by bandits, cumans and guards, not to mention armor is much heavier and more numerous, when compared to the weapons that enemies wield. In essence, at most, an enemy will have 3 weapons and maybe a shield, and that's being incredibly generous, however, they may have up to 14 pieces of armor and clothing, and granted you don't always take everything they have, but think about this: Spurs, Helmets, Body Plates, Head Chainmail, Leg Armor, Arm Armour, Gauntlets, etc. These are heavy and very very expensive, even if broken, so you can sell them for a lot. Not to mention, you can actually repair almost completely broken swords and axes by yourself at a fucking grinding wheel, whereas if you have a helmet that needs fixing, you're screwed.
    *.Armoursmith:* see above, but there is a catch, who should you hire? Ota or Zach?
    -Zach: this man is useless in Sasau, since both Ota and Fink have more to be bought than him. When taking him into Pribyslavitz, his wares and money expands exponentially. However, he is not capable of repairing some armors that are too damaged. Also, he produces more revenue for the town, a whopping +70 compared to the +10 of Ota.
    -Ota: this man is useful in Sasau, though if you take him to your town, he can repair all armor. But he is a lazy bastard and can't even put out more than 10 virgin groschen when compared to the chad +70 of Zach, the Wack.
    So what should you do? Do whatever you want, I won't judge, but my oppinion is on building an Armoursmith building and hiring Zach, even though he is an asshole, but hey at least you don't really upset the balance of how you do business in other cities, and only profit from it without even doing anything illegal.
    BTW, during the quest *Rattled*, just go talk to Zach, and then speak with Ota about the duel, WITHOUT going over to his side, then inform the Bailiff, and finally win the freaking thing.
    You will not lose any reputation with anyone (Ota ain't a sore loser) and you will have a brand new armorsmith in town. Don't be an crimey boi and go steal the bailiff's armor because Ota is bugged and WILL know it was you (my headcannon: he can smell your guilt).
    PS: regardless of who you hire, they will take maybe a day or two to arrive and set up shop in town, so just be patient. :)
    PPS: yet another reason for building an armorsmith instead of a swordsmith is that the diference between hiring Fink and hiring Zach, is that Fink's quest to reforge Queen Sheba's sword is long as hell, whereas Zach is "just go there and fight dude, and you can even fast travel to get there and back in less than 30 seconds". You do the math. Imma head out. >_>

    Nice video, I have the armorsmith and I'm ashamed to say I never noticed the shield :p In my defense I don't use them but still ...
    I would add details tough on top of what you already said :
    1-You can hire one of the 2 armorsmiths from sassau for your shop when you build the armor shop obviously :p can't remember how much money to adds to revenue but I would suppose around the same than the weaponsmith ?
    2-To get any of the special merchants there is a prerequisite quest to achieve first, one for the weaponsmith and another for the armorsmiths.
    3-If you want stables armorsmith gives added revenue, if you want the guard it's the weaponsmith that gives the bonus
    4-When looting a bandit you get 1 weapon and 3 to 6 pieces of armor, so overall it's best to have one more armorsmith in the game to be able to sell all your loot rather than a weaponsmith. It's even more true when you remember that weaponsmiths don't buy bows so if you looted an archer you'll still get armor but no weapons to sell.
    Oh also the sword is nice for a mid level character but there is at least one way better one (if not two I'm not sure) that can be used for high level characters (high stats requirements) so the sword is not that great long term, just a nice boost if you build the town when your character is still not high stats.

      You have to build up reputation with any merchant. The higher your rep, the more money you will get for what you sell, however, you will never get the full value for anything. That wouldn't be a good business model.

      Do you haggle enough? With time you learn how far you can go with haggling and different merchants and craftsmen react differently. The shoemaker in Rattay for instance is a hard nut to crack and often breaks off the haggling.

    How does Tusk stack up against Saint George' sword

    • @Dare_To_Game
      @Dare_To_Game  6 лет назад +3

      Pretty well, the St. George's sword is an overall better weapon, with higher damage, but i think they have just about the same durability, the Tusk only requires a level 1 agility to use, making it a weapon that can be used at any point in the game. The tusk is also worth more than the St. George's sword, in Groschen that is. I have a video comparing many of the longswords for this game if you are interested. ruclips.net/video/tvLRGdmFS04/видео.html

      How could anybody have any use for a sword (Tusk) that you could use early on in the game while you have to be very achieved and high level to rebuild Pribyslavitz to get it? Doesn’t make any sense.

    As who tried both, just keep it as a blacksmith that way it will be most beneficial for you when you have to repair weapons and armour, especially around the end game, Pribyslavitz is way closer to Talmberg. And most often than not you'll need reparing cuz you'll be getting on and off fights. And you just can't repair everything with a repair kit, unless you're an absolute Chad who mastered maintenance skill to level 20. So the moral of the story is just leave it as a blacksmith
