One great piece of advice that I got off of /ink/ was that, during glowfly rounds the one who is 'it' (signified by the glowflies surrounding him) can just ink up a wall and hold down B so he can hover near the top of the wall. Salmonoids cannot get to you that way and your team can just take care of the horder that swarms below you.
I think the absolute best tip that ive taught myself is: don't be a hero. Dont try to be the guy that deposits the most eggs or kills the most bosses for the most points in the end, just do your weapon role, and make sure the whole team succeeds. this is especially evident with tornado waves. Gathering all of the eggs and throwing them in an assembly line-type maneuver is way more efficient than carrying them back one by one to try and get the most eggs.
man one time i had this team on a tornado wave (usually it tends to go like 2 of us throwing eggs and 2 ferrying them back to basket) but my team singled me out on the gold egg throwing 😭 we could have gotten more but no they all insisted on putting eggs in basket and i was screaming “this way” to try and get someone to help 🧍
I do my weapon’s role. But sometimes you have awful teammates in a high rank that ignore flyfish and stingers and don’t collect eggs. So you gotta do it sometimes.
Don’t forget to ink walls. The salmon don’t really ink them as much as you think so it’s a good idea to go ahead and make some vertical paths when you can. In addition, you can shoot eggs at bosses to Insta kill them when fighting cohozuna. Vertical paths are very helpful when passing eggs as well. Sometimes you can reposition an egg to a teammate with high ground and really turn things around.
Its always a good time to do that and helping your team ahead to ink the route and cover them especially with rapid fire weapons but also to keep some bit distance especially those metal ink thing and mortar can be very deadly and that giant metal thing where the salmons makes circles is also a very deadly target along with the mortar
Unfortunately, the last tip about Wave 3 and Final Wave no longer works with Update 1.1.1, it will ALWAY say Final Wave even if Cohozuna will spawn. However, a tip I do have for Codzilla: You can attack him directly with weapons! Fast firing weapons like Dapple Dualies, Aerospray, or Hydra Splatling actually do more damage than firing the Egg Cannon at him; so if you get a chance, shoot him. ALSO, the Egg Cannon can be used to attack and kill other Boss Salmonids; great if you have a weak or short-range weapon like Inkbrush.
for cohozuna the music is actually slightly different so listen for a slight discrepancy in the music after beating the 3rd wave (3rd round text got patched so it always say final wave)
Please do more videos on salmon run with nighttime specific tips like: hang on walls with glowflies, and during Goldie hiding in spouts, the height of the spot shows how close you are to the Goldie
Nah, hanging on walls is a surefire way to die during glowflies. You all need to be taking out and delivering eggs. Usually, the best place to be is closest to the basket, which is especially true on Sockeye Station, where the enemies are all funneled from 1 direction. If you are all on the tower, it costs too much ink to throw eggs to the basket and getting overwhelmed with a low ink tank is very very likely. I'm VP 400 at the moment
Just a heads up fir the final tip, the patch notes for the latest patch mentions that the announcement for wave 3 is changed now for when you get Cohozuna. Don't know exactly what that means, but it might be they changed it so it now says final wave every time! Haven't tried it myself yet though, so not completely sure about what the change is exactly

tips that I would say is to always remember 1. If you're the last one alive and it left 3s on the clock throw a grenade it will help you win the face if you collected all the eggs 2. Really DO NOT FORGET TO WORK with your team 3. Always prepare an escape route just in case 4. Learn how to deal with every boss (if you can't kill them just leave) 5. Watch this type of video and other videos of ppl in upper levels like professional 6. IF YOU HAVE LOW TIDE and all the eggs collected you can leave the beach you don't need to be close to hell 7. Learn to implement movement in your run 8. Always turf your spawn every new wave DO NOT WASTE TIME plss 9. Practice with the weapons that are in rotation in the waiting room it can help you a little to know how much ink you have to use and how slow is the weapon to charge or shot
And please for the love of God, shoot back the drizzle Missile the rain is so annoying and 90% of people don't know you can do that and if you shot it back to the sender, you can shot him even when he is covered in is metal umbrella.
Also, try to throw the bomb as higher as possible (and while jumping from a higher ground it's even better) that way it'll take the bomb more time to land and explode, you can win almost 5 seconds this way and if all players were splatted, and the timer reaches zero before the bomb explodes and you completed the egg quota, it'll count as a cleared wave, just make sure you didn't throw the bomb to the water xD

Here's a tip, don't be afraid to leave golden eggs if they're far away, you don't need literally every single golden egg from every boss that shows up to reach the quota. Also some weapons are especially good at taking out certain bosses like blasters for Stingers or the Explosher which can destroy Flyfish missile holders with it's normal attacks.
I'm new to splatoon and salmon run has been my most fave game mode so far!! It has definitely been helpful in learning new weapons and has been equally challenging and rewarding.
One thing I've found is that the new squid roll technique is very useful for defeating the Slammin' Lid bosses, since it allows you to reverse direction quickly.
a tip i have thats very useful is to NOT IGNORE DRIZZLER INK STORM BUBBLES. if you can, try to shoot it back in the direction of the drizzler for an easy one shot kill, or just shoot and deflect it away. the ink storms can really slow you down and paired with a flyfish or stinger, you can EASILY get caught up and splatted especially if there's 2 or more drizzlers on the field 😩
Killer wail is probably the best one for taking them out, I think it's even been buffed for this purpose. One of the three beams aimed at the cockpit will take out an entire flyflish.
A bit of an unpopular tip I've taken to following lately: If you're on low-tide, you have all the eggs you need and your team is being overwhelmed: don't be afraid to just RUN. Bosses don't spawn up where the upper egg basket is during low tide, so if things get too hot, I find it's a good idea to run back up there to buy your team those precious few seconds. Cowardice is how the smart survive.
Another good tip is using slammin lid to kill bosses underneath it as long as they’re vulnerable (fly fish with hatches open or steelhead with his bomb readied). Most others will die anytime it slams on them
Yes these are great. Especially the specials I had no idea booyah bomb could kill most bosses. I would love a video going over some of the special rounds. Especially those glow fly rounds. I like to think myself okay at salmon run but these videos always shares at least one or two new points I didn’t know that can help.
Here’s my tip, when a big shot spawns, DONT get too distracted by the egg launcher. This will likely end up in the egg basket being swarmed by bosses and you struggling to get the final eggs in. Just launch a couple eggs and return to the team.
I have a tip for Glowflies and Griller waves. Use the fact that you can stick to walls covered in your ink and stay in one spot by holding a squid surge to your advantage if you're the target being chased. Salmonids don't climb walls by default, and will only do so if they can't reach you for more than 5 seconds, while Grillers can't touch you at all if you find a high enough wall (there's one near every basket except on low tide). For glowflies in particular they will group up underneath you and give your team ample time to deal with them. Once the glowflies are no longer on you, find a spot off to the side where you can shoot enemies without getting trampled and be ready to jump back on that wall at a moments notice.

I really enjoy Salmon Run! If you want to do more videos on it, it'd be cool if you did one on more niche tips, like how on a Cohozuna wave you can use the egg launcher on bosses like the flyfish.
If I can add one more tip : always shoot at a grizzler's flying projectile when you can, as it can save you a ton of trouble. Even if you don't see where it comes from (it's better if you do because sending it back to the boss one shots it), if there's one on your way and no one is already shooting at it, just use this couple of seconds to destroy it and avoid the annoying rain.
All great advice!! Note: they changed the wave 3/final wave thing for Cohozuna. Now, the celebration music sounds distorted, like it's autotuned or the batteries of the speakers are running out. Listen very closely and you'll hear the difference!
Thanks for the tips. Pvp leaves me prioritizing mobility and flanking more than I should for Salmon Run, especially when it comes to having a weapon that's just far weaker alone like the Dynamo Roller.

a single, invaluable tip I can give is this, when your quota is met, prioritize survival, too many times has an overachieving mindset caused a team wipe, especially on low tide, you can break away from the shore to go back to the spawn giving you a lot more breathing room in the last 20 or so seconds of the round.

Your eyes are not my eyes: It might seems obvious when a Goldie spawns, but one team member could be far from the spawn point and hearing the "ding" does not mean he knows where the Goldie (or other Salmonoid) is, so is always good to signal to all the team where is the Salmonoid spawning. Another very important tip: paint the walls. They are always useful to escape, in fact the key walls are more important to paint than grounds.
The wave 3 tip is gone. BUT! there is still a way to know when cohozuna will come! When the round ends, you'll hear the final jingle. But, if you hear some salmonoid chanting during this, cohozuna will come. It's subtle at first, but very recognizable once you get used to hearing it.
I don’t know if this got patched out or anything but another way to know when Cohozuna will appear is to look at the cohock silhouette in between runs. As you clear runs, the silhouette will fill up, when it’s full (or close to full, don’t know if completing a run while it’s almost full will result in this) the next run will have Cohozuna show up at the end.
would like a tip video that goes over the specific events. You touched on the glowflies a bit, but I think it would be useful to go more in depth on how to deal with those waves.

One tip I've been trying to use in my own play is "Take advantage of Snatchers" if you see an empty handed Snatcher fly over or just near the basket you can let them gather the eggs for you and splat them when they are close to the basket. Snatchers return from where they spawned so it's a good idea to let them grab the eggs that you can't sadly get if they spawned and flew over the basket. It is super helpful in high tide waves as they seem to spawn near the bask quite often.
A tip I have learned is to swim up to the border of the Slammin Lid barrier and squid roll away, reducing any damage you will take and guaranteeing a safe distance from the boss
I think it may be better to use specials after the second or third wave. Using it early will most likely leave with little leverage on the harder horde waves.
I get the stick together thing, but keeping a bit of distance from the team has helped me save the run 9 out of 10 times. Sure, sometimes you'll get splatted while somewhat far away from help, but more often than not I'm the last one standing as everyone else is huddled together and all get splatted together at once by one boss so I have to save everyone's butts, lol. And it's not like anyone else ever takes care of the Flyfishes 😆
I have a few tips for boss salmonids Slammin’ Lids can take out other Boss Salmonids! They usually love to protect Steelheads and Flyfishes, so just pass the barrier and they will be taken out. You could take them out if you’re overwhelmed, but if there’s enough space to keep Slammin’ Lids on the field, keep them. Steelheads kill nearby salmonids when destroyed. Make great use of this when Scrappers or Stingers are nearby. You can use Explosher on Flyfishes by hitting the basket. They basically are bombs, so it makes sense i guess.
Another thing about flyfish is that while it may not seem like it, both missile docks have specific things they do so choosing which one to destroy in a situation where you gotta cripple one choose the right dock. The red one will always target the player closest to the flyfish The blue one does either 1 of 3 things I'm not completely sure on which one: It targets a random player It targets the player who is doing the best that round It targets the farthest player. And remember! While the pilot is protected the killer wail 5.1 and the grizzco slosher can both splat the flyfish (and the killer wail from quite far away) so if you have killer wail, aim for those flyfish and stingers!
Third wave/final wave thing was a thing at launch but turns out it was a bug and got patched IIRC. If the tune that plays at the end of the third wave sounds weird and distorted, that means you're getting a super boss. There's also a meter in the lobby on the right hand side of the screen that indicates the chance of the super boss showing up.
one small tidbit in salmon run that I'm not sure ANYONE has found out ( and that I found out completely by accident ) is that throwing power eggs ( non xtrawave ) can oneshot smallfry and chums ! it has a very small hitbox but great for when you're overwhelmed by smaller enemies. HOWEVER, it does not oneshot the cohocks and does waste ink so find the right moment to throw and plan carefully, especially if you have ink guzzling weapons like the dynamo or blaster. try it out in practice :D
you should do a part two. theres lots of information that some may not know like how during the 4th faze power eggs are used as weapons for the final boss. and continuing to co-operate to take out the smaller threats can be more beneficial, than everyone just trying to survive, and shoot down the giant boss. i feel that all to often, players just don't know that.

I would add two more things: Ink the WALLS. They are a great escape route AND throw golden eggs at King Salmonid. Some people still do not know that you can do this.
My best tip is experiment with the weapons in the lobby before you queue up. The way use a lot of weapons changes a lot in salmon run, and there isn't surprising interactions with some weapons (for example, the explosher explosions can be used to damage fly fish and mudmouths instead of your splat bombs). I'm pretty sure they are intentionally modified the stats of a few weapons to make them more effective in salmon run.
I've started spamming "This way!" when Cohozuna is about to spawn or the arena starts getting dark, Hopefully this will catch on. Also if you miss it saying "Wave 3", listen for the "job well done!" fanfare, if it sounds off, that means god rest your soul its cohozuna time
As a splat2 player, i am begging you to make more basic salmon run tips for new to the series people. Every time i get randos who just never take out flyfish or maws correctly and die. Nobody reads the manual... 😭 I have friends to play with but having a good vid i can show them would be so helpful. Thank you SO much for all your vids!
As someone who's yelled "Splat the @#$% Flyfish/Stinger!" at the screen so many times since we first got Salmon Run in the previous game, this is very validating. Also, one tip for the Flyfish -- In addition to various specials, if you've got the Explosher, you can blast Flyfish's launchers with it when they're open.
This is a very small detail, but as the third wave of a salmon run round wraps up, if you listen closely to the completion jingle, you can tell if cohozuna is going to appear. On a normal run, it will sound the same as always, but on a cohozuna round, it will sound slightly distorted and off It probably won't help a lot, but I just thought it was a cool detail
The specials advice especially: in Splatoon 2 there was a tendency for ESPECIALLY Stingray users to save their specials until Wave 3 just in case there was a Mothership. But Mothership was NEVER a particularly good use of Stingray because Mothership losses are actually incredible uncommon. It's often better to use your specials in Wave 1 and 2 rather than saving them for a 'what if we get X known occurrence' situation. Remember: losing in Wave 1 or 2 will rank you DOWN. Losing in Wave 3 will retain your rank, so while it may be frustrating to lose Wave 3 because you were out of specials, it's ultimately better to have used your specials to get out of a tight spot in those first two waves than to wipe.
i think they might have patched out the third wave / final wave difference, i’m not sure. but there is another way to tell just before cohozuna arrives; if he’s coming the victory music at the end of wave 3 will sound a little distorted
Signaling is honestly something I wish I saw more often from random queues in salmon run. Too many times I find my teammates in random faraway parts of the map splatted and the cause being them rushing to action to kill a scrapper or a slammin lid
I was thinking about this concept after watching your first video on Salmon Run and I wonder if you should instead make a video about each individual weapon's role for Salmon Run since the same weapon can come up multiple times, so it might be redundant to make two videos which says the same thing. Then someone can watch that video and apply it to all future Runs and refer back to it. Maybe the idea is that it's more about the weapon comps than how to play the individual for this mode which, of course, are unique to each Run (not to mention that composition being paired with a particular stage). I really wouldn't know, but I hope it's at least food for thought.
Splat in between waves!!! This is more for randoms and pubs but I cannot count how many time people were just standing around in between waves with enemy gunk still on the field
I dont know if this could have been changed but in splatoon 2 only like two flyfish could spawn at a time so a good tip was to only bomb on side of it so at any time you only had two halved flyfish firing at you
Weapons go beyond just having general roles, as some types kill certain bosses faster than others. For example, chargers kill Steelheads immediately, but are extremely bad when fighting Stingers. Players must always target bosses with the correct weapon type.
Salmon Run is extremely fun but it gets very difficult very fast. It’s a nice break from turf war and the single player challenges! Now we just need turf war in anarchy battle and we need Splat Zones, Rainmaker, Tower Control, and Clam Blitz matches in the regular battles. I understand Turf War is the main it just would be nice to play all game modes in regular battle or the ranked/league Anarchy Battle. I love the change from ranked to anarchy open and the league to anarchy series. I’ve been playing since Splatoon 2 but I only made it to rank 7. I’m up to rank 9 in splatoon 3. Unless I get on a decent team, I end up losing often. Why turf war should also be in ranked. There are some really good teams. Plus to this day I haven’t played any of the other 4 match types before. It would be nice but it also makes sense having turf war in regular and splat zones, rainmaker, tower control, and clam blitz in the ranked/league anarchy. It kind of makes sense having the more competitive modes in the ranked anarchy. Then Salmon Run at Grizzco. I still would like to see more match types added like Team Deathmatch would be fun. You’d play it like turf war but you’d be judged on the number of KO’s and not the area covered. Then even a Free For All Deathmatch but it seems like the game is based on team play. Any new game modes would be a welcome edition. Even if it’s not Team Deathmatch or Free For All Deathmatch. I think most if the updates and improvements along with all new content and changes from splatoon 2 to splatoon 3 are much bigger and better than many realize. After playing splatoon 3 for a week, I went back to splatoon 2 and wow it feels very different. I was surprised how much better the new installment really is. Let’s hope that this latest entry gets more content in the future. Let’s hope it’s more than an Octo Expansion. I’m pretty obsessed again. Keep the content coming! Thanks.
Forgot one big thing. About Cohozuna. Kill the bosses, and fire eggs at Cohozuna. Use your special to kill bosses, and fire the eggs at cohozuna. Do not just shoot at cohozuna, the eggs do a lot more damage than your weapon or your special, so don't waste your special on cohozuna, and don't waste your time trying to use a splatana to kill cohozuna, kill bosses, fire the eggs. That's how you win the extra wave.
But don't target stingers if there are alot of enemies as a roller or charger u chances of survival is incredibly low its better to use this way to get someone to assist u
best one I have is depending on your weapon you should be targeting cohozuna instead of golden egg gathering. For example if you have hydra splatling you should ignore everything and damage cohozuna. While destroying bosses is a good thing, I see way too many games lost in eggsecutive vp bc players that could do tons of damahe to cohozuna are out chasing eggs instead of the boss itself

6. IF YOU HAVE LOW TIDE and all the eggs collected you can leave the beach you don't need to be close to hell
7. Learn to implement movement in your run
8. Always turf your spawn every new wave DO NOT WASTE TIME plss
9. Practice with the weapons that are in rotation in the waiting room it can help you a little to know how much ink you have to use and how slow is the weapon to charge or shot
And please for the love of God, shoot back the drizzle Missile the rain is so annoying and 90% of people don't know you can do that and if you shot it back to the sender, you can shot him even when he is covered in is metal umbrella.
Also, try to throw the bomb as higher as possible (and while jumping from a higher ground it's even better) that way it'll take the bomb more time to land and explode, you can win almost 5 seconds this way and if all players were splatted, and the timer reaches zero before the bomb explodes and you completed the egg quota, it'll count as a cleared wave, just make sure you didn't throw the bomb to the water xD

Here's a tip, don't be afraid to leave golden eggs if they're far away, you don't need literally every single golden egg from every boss that shows up to reach the quota.
Also some weapons are especially good at taking out certain bosses like blasters for Stingers or the Explosher which can destroy Flyfish missile holders with it's normal attacks.
I may get frustrated when I'm stuck with a Charger in Salmon Run, but the satisfaction from sniping a Steelhead's bomb _almost_ makes it worth it
I'm new to splatoon and salmon run has been my most fave game mode so far!! It has definitely been helpful in learning new weapons and has been equally challenging and rewarding.
another tip I would give is, if you are near the net and you have an egg, don't throw it. it uses 70% of your tank and you will need to get that back
One thing I've found is that the new squid roll technique is very useful for defeating the Slammin' Lid bosses, since it allows you to reverse direction quickly.
I love using a slammin lid to defeat other salmonids or bosses under it because when it slams down it crushes everything under it it’s so satisfying

a tip i have thats very useful is to NOT IGNORE DRIZZLER INK STORM BUBBLES.
if you can, try to shoot it back in the direction of the drizzler for an easy one shot kill, or just shoot and deflect it away. the ink storms can really slow you down and paired with a flyfish or stinger, you can EASILY get caught up and splatted especially if there's 2 or more drizzlers on the field 😩
Didnt even know your could kill flyfishes with specials, so this is already doing me good
Killer wail is probably the best one for taking them out, I think it's even been buffed for this purpose. One of the three beams aimed at the cockpit will take out an entire flyflish.
A bit of an unpopular tip I've taken to following lately:
If you're on low-tide, you have all the eggs you need and your team is being overwhelmed: don't be afraid to just RUN.
Bosses don't spawn up where the upper egg basket is during low tide, so if things get too hot, I find it's a good idea to run back up there to buy your team those precious few seconds. Cowardice is how the smart survive.
Another good tip is using slammin lid to kill bosses underneath it as long as they’re vulnerable (fly fish with hatches open or steelhead with his bomb readied). Most others will die anytime it slams on them
Yes these are great. Especially the specials I had no idea booyah bomb could kill most bosses.
I would love a video going over some of the special rounds. Especially those glow fly rounds.
I like to think myself okay at salmon run but these videos always shares at least one or two new points I didn’t know that can help.
Here’s my tip, when a big shot spawns, DONT get too distracted by the egg launcher. This will likely end up in the egg basket being swarmed by bosses and you struggling to get the final eggs in. Just launch a couple eggs and return to the team.
I have a tip for Glowflies and Griller waves. Use the fact that you can stick to walls covered in your ink and stay in one spot by holding a squid surge to your advantage if you're the target being chased. Salmonids don't climb walls by default, and will only do so if they can't reach you for more than 5 seconds, while Grillers can't touch you at all if you find a high enough wall (there's one near every basket except on low tide).
For glowflies in particular they will group up underneath you and give your team ample time to deal with them. Once the glowflies are no longer on you, find a spot off to the side where you can shoot enemies without getting trampled and be ready to jump back on that wall at a moments notice.

I really enjoy Salmon Run! If you want to do more videos on it, it'd be cool if you did one on more niche tips, like how on a Cohozuna wave you can use the egg launcher on bosses like the flyfish.
If I can add one more tip : always shoot at a grizzler's flying projectile when you can, as it can save you a ton of trouble. Even if you don't see where it comes from (it's better if you do because sending it back to the boss one shots it), if there's one on your way and no one is already shooting at it, just use this couple of seconds to destroy it and avoid the annoying rain.

Thanks for the tips. Pvp leaves me prioritizing mobility and flanking more than I should for Salmon Run, especially when it comes to having a weapon that's just far weaker alone like the Dynamo Roller.

a single, invaluable tip I can give is this, when your quota is met, prioritize survival, too many times has an overachieving mindset caused a team wipe, especially on low tide, you can break away from the shore to go back to the spawn giving you a lot more breathing room in the last 20 or so seconds of the round.
I knew all of this already but I'm leaving a comment because I want more people to watch this and learn this too!!! I hope everyone can watch this video, Salmon Run is under appreciated for sure.
Your eyes are not my eyes: It might seems obvious when a Goldie spawns, but one team member could be far from the spawn point and hearing the "ding" does not mean he knows where the Goldie (or other Salmonoid) is, so is always good to signal to all the team where is the Salmonoid spawning. Another very important tip: paint the walls. They are always useful to escape, in fact the key walls are more important to paint than grounds.
The wave 3 tip is gone. BUT! there is still a way to know when cohozuna will come! When the round ends, you'll hear the final jingle. But, if you hear some salmonoid chanting during this, cohozuna will come. It's subtle at first, but very recognizable once you get used to hearing it.
As a long-time Salmon Run player, you gave some very very good advice! Approved! 🙌

I don’t know if this got patched out or anything but another way to know when Cohozuna will appear is to look at the cohock silhouette in between runs. As you clear runs, the silhouette will fill up, when it’s full (or close to full, don’t know if completing a run while it’s almost full will result in this) the next run will have Cohozuna show up at the end.

One tip I've been trying to use in my own play is "Take advantage of Snatchers" if you see an empty handed Snatcher fly over or just near the basket you can let them gather the eggs for you and splat them when they are close to the basket. Snatchers return from where they spawned so it's a good idea to let them grab the eggs that you can't sadly get if they spawned and flew over the basket. It is super helpful in high tide waves as they seem to spawn near the bask quite often.

A tip I have learned is to swim up to the border of the Slammin Lid barrier and squid roll away, reducing any damage you will take and guaranteeing a safe distance from the boss
I think it may be better to use specials after the second or third wave. Using it early will most likely leave with little leverage on the harder horde waves.
The "Wave 3" tip was a bug likely it now always shows final wave even if an XTRAwave appears

I get the stick together thing, but keeping a bit of distance from the team has helped me save the run 9 out of 10 times. Sure, sometimes you'll get splatted while somewhat far away from help, but more often than not I'm the last one standing as everyone else is huddled together and all get splatted together at once by one boss so I have to save everyone's butts, lol. And it's not like anyone else ever takes care of the Flyfishes 😆
I have a few tips for boss salmonids
Slammin’ Lids can take out other Boss Salmonids! They usually love to protect Steelheads and Flyfishes, so just pass the barrier and they will be taken out. You could take them out if you’re overwhelmed, but if there’s enough space to keep Slammin’ Lids on the field, keep them.
Steelheads kill nearby salmonids when destroyed. Make great use of this when Scrappers or Stingers are nearby.
You can use Explosher on Flyfishes by hitting the basket. They basically are bombs, so it makes sense i guess.
Another thing about flyfish is that while it may not seem like it, both missile docks have specific things they do so choosing which one to destroy in a situation where you gotta cripple one choose the right dock.
The red one will always target the player closest to the flyfish
The blue one does either 1 of 3 things I'm not completely sure on which one:
It targets a random player
It targets the player who is doing the best that round
It targets the farthest player.
And remember!
While the pilot is protected the killer wail 5.1 and the grizzco slosher can both splat the flyfish (and the killer wail from quite far away) so if you have killer wail, aim for those flyfish and stingers!
Please make more Salmon Run content! No other Splatuber covers it and I'm always looking for more SR content!

Third wave/final wave thing was a thing at launch but turns out it was a bug and got patched IIRC. If the tune that plays at the end of the third wave sounds weird and distorted, that means you're getting a super boss. There's also a meter in the lobby on the right hand side of the screen that indicates the chance of the super boss showing up.
one small tidbit in salmon run that I'm not sure ANYONE has found out ( and that I found out completely by accident ) is that throwing power eggs ( non xtrawave ) can oneshot smallfry and chums ! it has a very small hitbox but great for when you're overwhelmed by smaller enemies. HOWEVER, it does not oneshot the cohocks and does waste ink so find the right moment to throw and plan carefully, especially if you have ink guzzling weapons like the dynamo or blaster. try it out in practice :D

like how during the 4th faze power eggs are used as weapons for the final boss. and continuing to co-operate to take out the smaller threats can be more beneficial, than everyone just trying to survive, and shoot down the giant boss.
i feel that all to often, players just don't know that.
Found this out on my own, you can use the ufo boss to crush other boss salmonids.

You accumulate them after each match - just go to the rewards machine in Grizzco - It's a terminal and it will give them to you!

I would add two more things: Ink the WALLS. They are a great escape route AND throw golden eggs at King Salmonid. Some people still do not know that you can do this.
Another way to tell if there's going to be a 4th wave:
The "shift over" jingle is just a little bit distorted.
My best tip is experiment with the weapons in the lobby before you queue up. The way use a lot of weapons changes a lot in salmon run, and there isn't surprising interactions with some weapons (for example, the explosher explosions can be used to damage fly fish and mudmouths instead of your splat bombs). I'm pretty sure they are intentionally modified the stats of a few weapons to make them more effective in salmon run.

Fun fact for cohozuna: To know if hes coming without the meter, the final wave clear tune is a bit scruffed up
I've started spamming "This way!" when Cohozuna is about to spawn or the arena starts getting dark, Hopefully this will catch on. Also if you miss it saying "Wave 3", listen for the "job well done!" fanfare, if it sounds off, that means god rest your soul its cohozuna time

As a splat2 player, i am begging you to make more basic salmon run tips for new to the series people. Every time i get randos who just never take out flyfish or maws correctly and die. Nobody reads the manual... 😭 I have friends to play with but having a good vid i can show them would be so helpful. Thank you SO much for all your vids!
As someone who's yelled "Splat the @#$% Flyfish/Stinger!" at the screen so many times since we first got Salmon Run in the previous game, this is very validating.
Also, one tip for the Flyfish -- In addition to various specials, if you've got the Explosher, you can blast Flyfish's launchers with it when they're open.
just had a chozuna wave even though wave 3 said “final”. i think 1.1.1 fixed it but great video regardless :)

This is a very small detail, but as the third wave of a salmon run round wraps up, if you listen closely to the completion jingle, you can tell if cohozuna is going to appear. On a normal run, it will sound the same as always, but on a cohozuna round, it will sound slightly distorted and off
It probably won't help a lot, but I just thought it was a cool detail

The specials advice especially: in Splatoon 2 there was a tendency for ESPECIALLY Stingray users to save their specials until Wave 3 just in case there was a Mothership. But Mothership was NEVER a particularly good use of Stingray because Mothership losses are actually incredible uncommon. It's often better to use your specials in Wave 1 and 2 rather than saving them for a 'what if we get X known occurrence' situation.
Remember: losing in Wave 1 or 2 will rank you DOWN. Losing in Wave 3 will retain your rank, so while it may be frustrating to lose Wave 3 because you were out of specials, it's ultimately better to have used your specials to get out of a tight spot in those first two waves than to wipe.

Signaling is honestly something I wish I saw more often from random queues in salmon run. Too many times I find my teammates in random faraway parts of the map splatted and the cause being them rushing to action to kill a scrapper or a slammin lid
I was thinking about this concept after watching your first video on Salmon Run and I wonder if you should instead make a video about each individual weapon's role for Salmon Run since the same weapon can come up multiple times, so it might be redundant to make two videos which says the same thing. Then someone can watch that video and apply it to all future Runs and refer back to it.
Maybe the idea is that it's more about the weapon comps than how to play the individual for this mode which, of course, are unique to each Run (not to mention that composition being paired with a particular stage). I really wouldn't know, but I hope it's at least food for thought.
Splat in between waves!!! This is more for randoms and pubs but I cannot count how many time people were just standing around in between waves with enemy gunk still on the field
you can also tell when the king salmonid is gonna spawn by looking at the salmonid logo when you are queueing up
Do you have any tips for taking down cohozuna? I and my team managed to take down the first two and haven't taken down a single one since.
My best tip is to throw 2 eggs to damage him and use 1 egg from bosses to one shot splat other bosses!
I dont know if this could have been changed but in splatoon 2 only like two flyfish could spawn at a time so a good tip was to only bomb on side of it so at any time you only had two halved flyfish firing at you
Another thing, if you get the splatana, it will one-shot the fat salmonoids with the forward slash/dash. Super useful for killing a bunch of them
Weapons go beyond just having general roles, as some types kill certain bosses faster than others. For example, chargers kill Steelheads immediately, but are extremely bad when fighting Stingers. Players must always target bosses with the correct weapon type.

Too many times I was a Dynamo Roller seeing a Fish Stick and thinking "Why isn't Clash Blaster dealing with this?"
Salmon Run is extremely fun but it gets very difficult very fast. It’s a nice break from turf war and the single player challenges! Now we just need turf war in anarchy battle and we need Splat Zones, Rainmaker, Tower Control, and Clam Blitz matches in the regular battles. I understand Turf War is the main it just would be nice to play all game modes in regular battle or the ranked/league Anarchy Battle. I love the change from ranked to anarchy open and the league to anarchy series. I’ve been playing since Splatoon 2 but I only made it to rank 7. I’m up to rank 9 in splatoon 3. Unless I get on a decent team, I end up losing often. Why turf war should also be in ranked. There are some really good teams. Plus to this day I haven’t played any of the other 4 match types before. It would be nice but it also makes sense having turf war in regular and splat zones, rainmaker, tower control, and clam blitz in the ranked/league anarchy. It kind of makes sense having the more competitive modes in the ranked anarchy. Then Salmon Run at Grizzco. I still would like to see more match types added like Team Deathmatch would be fun. You’d play it like turf war but you’d be judged on the number of KO’s and not the area covered. Then even a Free For All Deathmatch but it seems like the game is based on team play. Any new game modes would be a welcome edition. Even if it’s not Team Deathmatch or Free For All Deathmatch. I think most if the updates and improvements along with all new content and changes from splatoon 2 to splatoon 3 are much bigger and better than many realize. After playing splatoon 3 for a week, I went back to splatoon 2 and wow it feels very different. I was surprised how much better the new installment really is. Let’s hope that this latest entry gets more content in the future. Let’s hope it’s more than an Octo Expansion. I’m pretty obsessed again. Keep the content coming! Thanks.

Also, you can know when you are going to have a super boss by looking at top-right of matchmaking/while in grizz co lobby.
Forgot one big thing. About Cohozuna. Kill the bosses, and fire eggs at Cohozuna. Use your special to kill bosses, and fire the eggs at cohozuna. Do not just shoot at cohozuna, the eggs do a lot more damage than your weapon or your special, so don't waste your special on cohozuna, and don't waste your time trying to use a splatana to kill cohozuna, kill bosses, fire the eggs. That's how you win the extra wave.
Flyfish and Stingray should never be ignored. Both are top priority
But don't target stingers if there are alot of enemies as a roller or charger u chances of survival is incredibly low its better to use this way to get someone to assist u

best one I have is depending on your weapon you should be targeting cohozuna instead of golden egg gathering. For example if you have hydra splatling you should ignore everything and damage cohozuna. While destroying bosses is a good thing, I see way too many games lost in eggsecutive vp bc players that could do tons of damahe to cohozuna are out chasing eggs instead of the boss itself
