- Lets be real. There's a lot of people who just really aren't good at Splatoon 3 Salmon Run. So to help people get ready before Big Run. Here are 25 tips to help you get better at Salmon Run! We'll talk about how to use Grizzco weapons, dealing with cohozuna, and more!

The wall clinging strategy should only be used as a LAST RESORT! The salmonoids will start jumping after a certain amount of time. You can reset that timer by standing on top of the wall to reset their pathing.
You can also reset pathing by moving horizontally on the wall, but this is relatively difficult to do.
Came here to say this. Also, it’s just better if everyone is able to collect eggs. Everyone should stay together
Not only that. But it becomes a pain in the ass the get eggs since all the eggs are gonna be stuck inside the massive swarm of chums. So i'd only do it once you've filled the quota or getting some men down and need your team to revive them

Salmonoids? There’s no second O.
For #18, you will always have one special remaining during an extra wave, no matter how many you used beforehand. You can’t save both of your specials. Use them.
Pretty sure that's not true anymore as of the latest update.
I'd still rather have no extra specials than wipe on wave 1 or 2 though.

Just to clarify, you shouldn't cling to the walls in squid form, you should stand on the edge and fire down. It's so frustrating to be in Executive VP and loose cause the person targeted isn't helping at all.
Most rollers are effective in glowflies and also please please please stop wall clinging for glowflies unless it's a last resort. You're removing a quarter of your teams killing power and ability to throw eggs in the basket. With randoms wall cling will end in a wipe more often then it will help
Grizzco charger can’t spam shots, it only has 7 before the tank empties, but the shots do pierce through lessers which can clear crowds very efficiently with just 2 shots, it also the range of an E-liter. Grizzco slosher pierces all armor, so you can use it to brute force kill Steelheads outside of their cycle, or pierce other armored bosses, like shooting through Eel walls or even stunning Grillers from anywhere. Gslosh also only has 4 shots, so try to make them count as much as possible.

I feel like a lot of necessary context/further explanation is being skipped over on many of these tips so I’ll make a list here:
0:29 it actually does work pretty well if done right. Since glow fly wave chum have reduced health, literally every roller is capable of instantly killing them when rolling. That just leaves your 3 teammates to focus on damaging the Goldie’s. Make sure to keep your roller down on the ground the entire time. If you stand still, you can regenerate ink without having to go in squid form and horizontal flicking each time you get low. Also, if you move slower while rolling, it won’t cost as much ink so you can last a very long time just slightly moving forward, all the while instantly splatting every chum and knocking back Goldie’s and having a shield for yourself
0:47 sticking to walls should not be used all the time. It makes gathering the golden eggs obscenely hard if they all are in a pool with the 2 dozen angry chum below. Ideally your team should stay near the basket together and funnel everything through one front. If done right you’ll have enough dps. This will also result in the Goldie’s dying near the basket for easier eggs collection. Sticking to walls only comes in handy when the team has been surviving fine for a while but hasn’t really had a chance to get all the golden eggs in the basket. The one player will take the agro elsewhere and stick to a wall while the others just get eggs for a bit
1:09 grounded boxes will start spawning lesser salmonoids after a while. It’s a better use of time and resources to shoot a grounded box that would otherwise spawn 5 chum and a cohok than to shoot a single chum following you
4:00 snatchers will steal the eggs you put in the cannon if someone doesn’t pick them up in time
4:29 regardless of how many specials you did or didn’t use in the previous 3 waves, you will always be set to having one special to use against a king salmonoid
4:39 the RUclipsr hazdamy makes great guides if you want to learn more
5:51 if you have a high fire rate/splash damage weapon, not only should you be clearing a lot of the lesser salmonoids like chum and smallfries, but you should also kill fish sticks for your team. Don’t let a charger waste 15 seconds trying to snipe each tiny smallfry. Conversely, chargers can help other teammates kill fish sticks by painting the sides in a single charged shot. This will save your teammates the time of trying to paint a tall wall with usually a short range weapon that can’t reach all the way
Not tied to the video, but I’ll add my own since newer Grizzco employees have trouble with the weapon: the dynamo roller can insta kill all lessers *including* cohoks. Clear lessers when you can for your teammates

For number nine, I would actually say that it could be more optimal to wait about 5 to 10 seconds before splatting them. If a boss Salmonid like Steelhead or Flyfish go under the beam, they will get splatted when Slammin Lid goes down. This is actually pretty common with Steelheads
Also, for #10, a Slammin’ Lid crush will instantly kill _any_ boss that’s underneath it. We’re talking Steelheads, Scrappers, Drizzlers, even Flyfish! Use that whenever you can.
Here's another important tip, luring the salmons to basket. This can majorly help get the goal much faster without any stress but also make sure not to overlure as well cuz if all the bosses are focus on the middle you can't do much about, this is also the sole reason why to use specials BEFORE things get so chaotic plz do not use them as panic specials when you are about to die but like what riz said do it when you are the last player alive. And if you are about to die but everyone else is dead while time is gonna ran out, USE a bomb it can lengthen the time while also reviving a teammate. If you all got more questions go right ahead, unless if its about getting actual good teammates well I cant help you with that lol.
If you're having trouble getting into the habit of using specials, pick a time in the match, like 50 seconds into round 3, and use your special as soon as you can after reaching that point.
Here's a good tip. Always look at the bottom of the screen before the start of a wave. It'll tell you if the wave will be high tide, mid tide, or low tide.
This is important to look at, it can get you a headstart at inking an area, such as low tide
Something many people overlook is the fastest way to get several golden eggs into the basket from a distance if many bosses have been killed: Throw the first egg, refill your tank, throw another egg, then deposit the third. By the time you come back for more eggs, your ink tank will be refilled, allowing you to repeat the process again.
I feel like I know a lot. But I didn’t know about the Flyfish colour difference. I’m surprised you didn’t talk about prioritizing fish sticks or take advantage of the fish stick pillars for transport (although this only works in Gone-fission hydro with the uninkable walls)
tip #26 Watch where Snatchers spawn. Sometimes they'll grab eggs and carry it closer to the basket.

As a new player in salmon run, these really helped me! the first time i ever played salmon run was in the big run event and i didn't realize a lot of the things i were doing was wrong for me and my teammates.
While some of this I already know, I really needed to hear that line about "Splatoon's not about being a one-man army." I always tred to do as much as I can, on my own, to prove that I'm worth something to my team. After this, I humbled myself down and worked more in sync with my teammates, while not being stingy with my specials.
NOW MY TEAM ROCKED A 146 EGG SCORE IN THE EELTAIL ALLEY BIG RUN! ^w^

@@abcx000 Mine had Glowflies at the end and I had a Grizzco Slosher. We had fifty-plus eggs on both other waves so I knew we had enough at the end.

like half of these tips should be in the hand-book. it can be so annoying for someone to run around in circles from a griller, instead of siting atop the easily coverable wall on sockeye.
Fish sticks near the basket are high priority too. The most important strategy to employ is luring bosses to the basket. STOP RUNNING TO THE SHORE. Pretend like the basket is your lifeblood and the further you stray from it the more you hurt. I promise there will be plenty of bosses near the basket to kill.
Ou that’s not… idk about those first 2 pieces of advice 😳 try rolling slowly forward in glowflies if you have a roller. Yes you can get pushed around, but it’s a huge asset to have that damage from the roller
Wall clinging during glowflies can absolutely help with survival, but in high quota waves you’re probably not gonna reach your quota. If you want you can start walk clinging AFTER the quota is met to secure the win / if all your team is dying and you need a second to revive them. But usually wall clinging results in a failed quota

best video so far,, i’m HARDSTUCK profresh 1-3 but i thought i knew all of the rules. i was like what im am i doing wrong?? most of the other videos i watched were telling me super obvious things i already knew. but this video explained more things i didn’t know like the fly fish having two different uses for each side!!

For tip #4 when a xtrawave is about to begin, i just ink as much i can to cover the ground so i don’t waste some ink during the fight
Boy are you ever right about #6. Nothing pisses me off more than people getting splatted and just sitting there on the perimeter doing nothing. When I get splatted, I try to grab an egg and hop over to the basket. I'll also try to move in front of where teammates are already shooting just to make it easy for them as well.

also: SHOOT DRIZZLER MISSILES WHEN YOU SEE THEM! even if you can't hit the drizzler, the chip damage from the rain can really rack up, especially if you're dealing with multiple drizzlers late in the wave.

That would make Freelance a nightmarish hellscape. Imagine getting on a team with all short range or all slow charging weapons.

I understand the method of luring, but I swear, every time my team does it, the basket gets blocked where you can’t shoot the egg into the basket in time or there’s too many bosses clustered in one spot. In low tide, there were times my team was wiped and I was the only one, but still managed to survive the shift for my team because I actually retreated far behind the basket to the main area in the last 10 seconds.
didn't flyfish change? now, no matter which you get first the remaining one will target the nearest player, right?
Chared slots of the grizco whiper also pierce armor and can one shot ALL bosses, however the charge time is really slow, so don't rush a flyfish and start charging, make sure your surroundings are clear before you engage
Ill give an extra tip that Im sure would be extremely useful.
Know what specials provide armor piercing for killing Steelheads, Flyfish, ect. Most Salmonid bosses with Ink armor are known to be really slow, in both setting up for an attack and movement. While you are waiting for the boss to set up, you can easily get swarmed. Using a special just to kill them outright and not waste time is a huge game changer and can save your team from wiping/not having enough eggs
Triple Inkstrike, Booyah Bomb, Killer Wail 5.1, and the Wave Breaker (The weakest of the 4 for obvious reasons) have the abilty to kill an armored salmonid without them getting ready to attack. Ima throw in the Stingray from Splatoon 2 just for extra credit

Completely disagree about rollers on glowflies. The weaker chums melt when you do the slow roll just leaving goldies. The rest is positioning. Hanging on the wall can help when your crew can't figure out the roller.

turns out ping spam doesn't actually work! it waits for the full text animation to play and fade on others' screens before displaying another one. idk why they don't just block you from pinging in between that time, but now you know

11 not really a misconception but listen to the people with max hazard and gold stage badges during glowflies

Multiple of these tips are just outright bad.
#1 Rollers are THE BEST weapon for Glowflies; it's not even an argument.
#10 Slammin' Lids are to be killed on sight because they also spawn lesser Salmonids to overrun you. If something is under them (like Bosses), it's purely a secondary benefit.
#11 Great way to throw the run. If someone foolishly runs off to Narnia instead of staying near the basket and dies, that's their fault and chasing them will likely end in a wipe.
#24 If the other person has a low fire rate weapon, just head up there and take care of the Fish Stick yourself, they have better things to with their low fire rate.
Also, when crippling Flyfish, it doesn't matter which pod is destroyed, both will behave like the red one, #5 WAS correct in Splatoon 2, though.

I’m sad to see the false preaching of wall strats. Wall strats should only be used if you already have all the eggs needed. Using wall strats activity weakens your team by practically lowering your team count to 3. 3 people shooting at the salmoneds is worse that 4 people shooting at the salmoneds.

On bay glowflies get your entire team to stand behind one of the grates at all times (with behind I mean on the side where the basket is) because then they will only run over the grate that you’re standing behind wich will make it much easier to survive. Now just learn how to use your weapons in glowflies and only collect eggs when you’re not targeted and without egg throw and you’re good to go on marooners bay glowflies. Similar strategy applies to sockeye station with your team behind the basket (between basket and grate) but the salmonids will come from both sides of the basket.
Eggsecutive VP is very hard to win that’s not just me right because the amount of times I play it and I lose for a stupid reason is too often does that happen to anybody else? and it can’t be because I’m not good because I play very well 🫠
