As for specials. The Extra Wave with Cohozuna will always provide you ONE special regardless of how many you have at the end of Wave 3. Meaning that even if you save both of your specials until that wave, the game will remove them anyway and give you only one special specifically for the Extra Wave. In other words, there is absolutely no point in saving specials for the Extra Wave, they don't carry over at all.
True, the in-game employee handbook is unclear about this. "When a King Salmonid appears, all leftover special pouches will be collected and then redistributed so everyone gets one." It suggests that your team's leftover specials are redistributed, but that's not the case. You will ALWAYS have a SINGLE special at the start of the extra wave.
Here's a really obscure tip that I've only learned through experimentation. Throw your golden eggs at Salmon bosses during the Cohozuna! From what I can tell, if you throw power eggs at vulnerable spots of a boss, it will instakill them. You use up a power egg, but you get those bosses out of the way, Fly fish looking at you, and get more eggs to chuck at the Cohozuna, using one to two power eggs to get three. You have to throw it somewhere where the boss is exposed though, it will not pierce the Steelhead's body, the rain bosses' shell, and others I assume. Please share this info and try it out yourselves! Salmon runners need to know this
Other little tips that people could have missed -The Squid Roll is very useful and can parry hits of normal Salmons or bait the Slammin Lid boss + the Lid boss can crush other bosses under it when it comes down -When there is a Drizzler (Ink Storm Boss) you can shoot their projectile to cancel the Ink Storm and if you shoot it towards the Boss it can oneshot it and its very useful because this Boss can be annoying -In the Goldie hiding wave the amount of ink that is left by the pillars indicates how far away the Goldie is hidden Exemple : if you shoot a thing where the Goldie could hide and it leaves a high ink pillar it means that the Goldie is hidden close to that ink pillar And if the ink pillar is small it means that the Goldie is far away
The biggest thing people need to learn about salmon run is that each weapon has a very specific roll to play. If you get a charger, your job is splatting bosses--don't run down to the front lines where you'll get swarmed. On the opposite side, if you get the aerospray, then you need to be collecting eggs instead of going after bosses you're going to have a hard time with like steelhead.
Collecting eggs and inking around the basket so that everyone can move well. Too many people forget that lack mobility is what causes the most crew wipes
@@melteddali8000 Bro, I always make inking areas, walls, a priority unless I'm saddled with the sniper. Because mobility is insanely necessary to avoid pressure. But it sure feels like I'm the only one doing it, because at the end of matches I'm always last in eggs and points.
Before each match, make sure you ink the walls. That will be very important for your mobility during the match. Also, swim on a high wall to confuse grillers and the salmon hoard during glowflies if you're the one being targeted. You can redirect the enemies this way so that they move in ways that will be easier for your teammates to splat them.
Another thing as well is find a spot with one route up, that way all the salmonids will come in through the same spot and you don't have to cover two choke points then. All the maps have at least 1, although they don't necessarily have the walls needed either
And after the final wave ink everything like crazy in prep for Cohozuna!!! Don't just celebrate and dive into the water like we all did in Splatoon 2...
I have also figured out you can just squid charge on walls and glowflies just group up around where you are and if the wall is high enough they cant get you and your team can farm the kills. Sometimes i do this first then my teammates see the strat and copy me so pretty good for glowflies
1) Consider boss priority. Flyfish and Stinger were mentioned, but Big Shot can also be a problem if things get hectic. Plus you can use their cannon to fire eggs to the basket. 2) Drizzler's shots can be shot down. Fire it straight back for an instant KO! 3) If you find yourself around more golden eggs than players, you can throw them part way to make it easier for yourself or others to get them to the basket. 4) While you should use specials as needed, try not to waste them, especially in earlier waves. 5) Roles. Different weapons excel at different jobs. Blasters are great for fish sticks, drizzlers, and groups of salmonids. Most chargers can kill a steelhead in one charged shot. 6) Glowflies are best dealt with together. You can usually find somewhere by the basket or within throwing distance where you can limit to one path of approach. You need most if not all weapons to handle the rush. 7) Grillers take a similar strategy. There will be a red line connecting a griller to their target, so take advantage of that. They won't jump down ledges so thos can help get them to turn around if they get too close. 8) Gushers. How high they rise tells you how close you are to the goldie. Don't open more than you have to. 9) Shoot Cohozuna. Golden eggs do great damage but your other weapons will also damage it. Ideally one person can lead Cohozuna around while the rest of the team takes on bosses for eggs. 10) Squid party when you win!
slamming lids can also kill any boss underneath them as well so you can turn it into a two for one. Steelheads also sometimes explode on death in a wide area so if your weapon can kill them quick( chargers and longer range shooters) it will really clear an area. Also ink walls, this can be key in griller rounds and glowflies as a safe spot on a wall can make those rounds easier. On extra wave most weapons dont deal more damage then the eggs being shot at the cohozuna but some can( chargers, blasters and dynamo). And speaking of Cohozuna, he tends to target one player at a time. If that player kites him around the rest of the teams can focus on bosses for their eggs. that said i still hate him on high tide.
When hiding on walls with fireflies make sure to go back up top to let the salmon unstack and let your teammates get the eggs, it can be really hard to grab the eggs when this happens, and fireflies will often switch to the teammates below. Also the salmon can stack on top of each other and scrape you off almost any wall with enough time! I honestly recommend camping the TOP of a spot with a nice wall near the basket and then switching onto the wall to make the all the salmon walk back while your teammates can collect eggs for a bit, this also prevents the fire flies switching targets from causing any real panic
Steel heads also do alot of damage on kohozuna upon death, so if you see them close together, it's worth focusing the steelhead just for that splash damage alone.
My tips: 1. Do NOT ignore lesser salmonids. Too often people run right past them to fight the boss or grab eggs only to get splatted right away by a horde of smallfries and cohocks. 2. The Explosher can splat the flyfish cannons if you hit the inside of them. 3. Before a wave starts, ink as much ground as you can. 4. When you fight Cohozuna, try to focus on splatting bosses first and firing the golden eggs at him instead of just shooting him.
One tipp i can say is INK THE SMALL WALLS these walls that are like inbetween the superjump spot and basket of spawning grounds, they often give people trouble. They can jump over it, but if you get damaged, it dosen't work, if it is inked you can get over it by swimming, but not if it isn't inked
Extra tip for fog mode: if there is a Goldie - lure it to the basket. Do not kill it at the shore. They are not a threat at all, they are slow, and have bad range. Lure it to the basket and kill it there. Since there is a chance it drops 5 or 10 eggs, bring it to the basket. I cannot tell you how many times my teammates have killed it at the shore, 10 eggs drop, but theyre too far and we lose the wave due to not meeting the quota.
@@scribblecloud In the gushers mode yes they do. My comment referred to the fog mode, where they literally just walk around like a chum and you can lure them back.
Al ready do. But my eggsecutive teammates don’t. I’m not saying I’m good because I often do pretty bad. But I try to make it easier to get eggs. I also try and get those stingers and fly fish. They never come along and help get them.
Not all eggs are worth grabbing. Often times you might kill a Fly Fish or a Stinger that's way out there. If you are the only one there and there are Salmonids spawning, especially Cahooks, you are probably better off just leaving the eggs there. Heck, sometimes just leaving the eggs there is probably a better option because bosses are constantly spawning and you retrieving those faraway eggs is time that you aren't killing another boss that's probably closer to the basket.
to add to this sometimes a snatcher can help you bring eggs closer to the basket!! sometimes its worth it to keep a snatcher alive since they can fly now, instead of just coming up from the water and taking the eggs back with them. sometimes they fly over the entire map while taking your eggs so have them do the heavy lifting sometimes!!
The in-game employee handbook is unclear about specials on the Extra Wave. "When a King Salmonid appears, all leftover special pouches will be collected and then redistributed so everyone gets one." It suggests that your team's leftover specials are redistributed, but that's not the case. You will ALWAYS have a SINGLE special at the start of the extra wave, regardless of how many you or your team have.
My suggestions for Salmon Run are: 1: Make use of your Squid Rolls. Yes this is a simple movement option, but once you start to use it, you’ll feel how valuable it becomes. You can use it to grab an egg that’s under a swarm of salmonids safely as the roll will provide you with armor, and will allow you to survive if you get caught under the Slammin Lid, making baiting out its attack much easier 2. Do not lose focus on the Salmonid King. Of course, it is important to be aware of its position and what it plans to do next, since the last thing you want is to be crushed by its jump attack. Pay attention to how close it is to other bosses and give yourself room to throw eggs so that it doesn’t end up covering them, or too close to risk snatching them up 3. The King has a weak point. Aim for the belly. The King will restore health if left alone, but will take increased damage if you strike its stomach - you’ll notice the white damage marker is much larger. If you have its attention, keep chipping at its stomach, and try to angle it so that your team can safely and quickly hit its weak spot 5. Utilize walls. Salmonids can’t climb, so throwing eggs higher up where you know it’s safer, retreating to high ground up a wall and keeping lookout from a tall viewpoint will all come in handy, especially in something like Glowfly Rush. I cannot stress how important wall escape routes are 6. THEY CAN JUMP! As stated, climbing walls is important to escape, but if you camp them - especially in Glowflies and Griller - or remain on a Fish stick for too long, they can and will leap up to catch you. To prevent this, try to climb up onto the platform to keep them from staying against the wall, where they will eventually leap up and smack you off. Trust me, a leaping Cohock is as dangerous as it is scary 7. Finally, use Slammin Lids to your advantage. Crush Steelheads that get under them, or use their slam attack to clear out a wave of enemies, and make use of it when it rises again. I heavily recommend using the Slammin Lid as a safety platform where you can shoot down from a comfortable spot to lend your team support, or even take down a nearby Slammin with ease Sorry for making this so long, but I really do believe these are all important tips you should know I lied, Final tip: Squidbag at the end, you earned the celebration
Quick priority list for bosses: Main target: Steelhead, Flyfish, Stinger Next: Big Shot, Fish Stick, Slammin Lid, Steel Eel, Drizzler Last: Maw, Flipper Flopper, Scrapper This is what I follow personally. Also, for Steelhead, Flyfish, Drizzler, and sometimes Flipper Flopper, try to get a teammate to help. It can be done by one person, but it's really hard to one-cycle these bosses on your own. Lastly, go for teammates if either there are only 2 people alive, or you are fighting one of the "Last" category bosses. And if you're the only one alive, drop everything. Your only target is your teammates and the salmonids in your way of them.
Here is a tip for everyone regarding specials and splat bombs: the crew wipe loss does not initiate if there is still a source of damage active. Use this to your advantage if you are isolated across the map from teammates and are the last player standing try throwing a splat bomb or using one of the specials in the general vicinity of them. With any luck even if you die one of your teammates should get revived and can help the others.
Also, you can save the match if you have certain specials even if everyone is dead. One time everyone died, but someone used a killer wail 5.1 which saved enough people to win the round.
something I learned playing salmon run in splatoon 2, if you’re being chased by a bunch of salmonids, look down and place a bomb as you’re moving. the bomb should explode at the spot you just were, and it should get rid of some of the swarm. it’s faster than looking behind you and throwing a bomb, because during that time you could get splatted. this is just for anybody who didn’t know. y’all have fun!
- you can use slamminlid to kill bosses - use walls for safety however salmonids can climb eventually so only stay till your ink tank is full then squid surge off and drop a bomb - big shot cannon can shoot eggs at the basket and like he said about stingray, he should be a priority - don't ignore salmonids, they are one of the worst killers when they multiply - flippor flopper is actually vulnerable right before it jumps again - explosher kills flyfish easy peasy - know your roles as a weapon-> backliners target bosses, support is an all rounder but stay back but still in reach, frontliners target enemies that backliner cant cover - make the scrapper face you at a direction where your teammate can kill it from behind - risky but you can lure enemies by a steelhead then kill it so it kills them all - you can lure salmonids in a bunch then drop a bomb, afterwards finish off the cohock - wave breaker is amazing for glowflies and grillers (kills all the smallfry on griller wave) and rescues all teammates in reach - you can use chums on helicopters to bring the eggs closer if you kill them at the right time - on the cohozuna wave, use two eggs to attack cohozuna but one egg to kill a boss - goldie can be killed very fast if you're a roller and you run against it but it takes good control to stay long enough to kill it
Typically in higher level salmon run its better to leave the flyfish on one basket so they can only shoot 4 missiles instead of eight and if you fully kill the thing a new one win spawn almost immediately in a harder toreach location so you would be dealing with more missiles overall and there can only be three at a time and then you have power eggs to fall back on if you are missing too many for the quota
idk what u mean for this bc like. 4 or 5 flyfish can spawn at the same time it doesnt matter. wipe em out as soon as they spawn and if you cant, yes it can be useful to just take one side out for the time being.
I have another tip. During the tornado special event, if you have a weapon that's bad at killing hoards of salmon then you need to be the one focused on throwing eggs back to the basket. For example, if you have a blaster, don't leave a charger or splatling player to take on a hoard of salmon by themselves. Let them focus on ferrying eggs while you provide cover for them.
With using specials you can used them both for the first 3 rounds. When the king comes you will get one back for free. (If you used all specials and have none left) you will get one back for the king. Took me a while to realise! 😊
A tip for all people recognizing themselves in this category : stop drowning yourself at the end of each wave, ink turf for the next one ; it's not much, but it gives you a head start at the beginning of a wave
Had a friend recently show me some samon run tricks. 1) remember to use squid roll, keeps momentum and gives you those few frames of shielding. 2) on mid and low tide sometimes fly fish are better to cripple than kill because the game can only spawn 2 at once (chuck a bomb at the blue basket only because the blue targets random players while red only targets the closest), do not do this on high tide and its generally easier when not playing with randoms. 3) there's an audio cue for king salmonid waves (at the end of the match the jingle gets messed up and distorted) 4) the conditions to get a king samonid is: one or more players must have their meter full and no player may have had a king in their last match. This makes getting kings hard while playing solo. 5) scales rewarded by king samonids have different rates (10% for silver and 1% for gold I think) but the quantity you get is tied to performance. 6) playing with friends at a lower rank dose lower the difficulty for you a tad but it also means you can't earn rank, you will still rank down for a non wave 3 loss. 7) while you need to bring enemies closer to the basket don't let them chill there, especially the steel eel that thing likes to wrap around the basket 8) with glowflies be aware what special you have: wavebreaker, killer wail, and crab tank are really effective, inkjet is good if your the last one alive cuz it gets you in the air with a cannon. While I'm sure there's uses for other specials there they seem risky to use. 9) wavebreaker can res teammates so can killerwail great specials to pop if half your team drops 10) Goldie seeking on high tide is usually a God send, most maps can't fit much more than 4 ink towers making it easy to find the right one, just don't open every one at once it's still high tide 11) during a mud mouth wave prioritize the golden because it spits out the big bois (I usually pop a special like killerwail) if there isn't a golden prioritize depending on team comp. 12) fish sticks have surprising inking power be sure to clear them when you can (this is easier for long range and shooters to do tho) 13) maws can still be taken down by chucking a bomb in its mouth. 14) when down try and group up with other down team mates while waiting for a res. Don't move away from an up player tho so move to whoevers closer. If your moving more than a little bit you should click help each time you end up at a new obstical or move in range of someone. Some people zone in on the combat and don't notice their team being down so don't let more than 2 people go down at once. 15) if quota is met and your the only one alive res if you can but focus on survival Overall have fun and get those super bonuses, try and play with friends when you can too :)
Tip #1 should just be "don't die." If you can learn good positioning, dodging techniques, plan escape routes ahead of time, and improve your situational awareness, your salmon run gameplay will improve more than any other way.
Another point about bombs - A ticking bomb counts as a live player, so if you're the last player, you don't have special, there's a couple of seconds on the clock, and you can't see a teammate to revive? Chuck a bomb and hope it either finds a teammate or outlasts the clock. (Sadly doesn't work with the Wave Breaker - Though the Wave Breaker is IMO the best revival special in the mode) I'd add Big Shot in with the priority backline bosses - The basket basically becomes that world 1 level in story mode if you leave them be and they provide an efficient way of transporting eggs from the coast to the basket when downed. Maws, Steel Eel (remember, the eggs drop at the back) and Scrapper are the most baitable bosses (Obvious who they're targeting - I'm pretty sure Flipper Flopper is also baitable but it's not always clear who it's targeting or what it's movement pattern is). Slamin Lid can also kill other bosses if you time it just right - Scrapper is the one I've seen killed by it. Similarly niche but throwing your egg does 100 damage in a small radius around you. I noticed occasionally getting damage on an egg toss when drilling them and figured out how that works over the past couple of days (and finished off a cohock on a recent run by accident, so it definitely works in game). I doubt either of those things are going to be able to be part of a coherent strategy, but it's good to know all the same.
My personal tips for every boss: Maws: Like you said, bring it as close to the basket as possible. Scrapper: If you get it to focus you, it helps to steer the Scrapper so that its back is facing the open, or better yet, your team. That way its back isn't against the wall or somewhere inconvenient like too close to the shore. Also bait this boss to the basket. Drizzler: I consider this one a high priority target. If you let a Drizzler rain for too long, it will cause unexpected chip damage that quickly piles up. Even if you're not going to kill it immediately, always try to at least knock the missile down, even if it's not going to hit the Drizzler. It acts like a bomb when it hits something, so it can actually help clear some room or even kill another boss. Steelhead: If you have a Shooter, Charger, or any kind of precision-oriented weapon, it's technically your duty to take these out as soon as you can. You have the best chances of hitting that bomb from up high than a Roller, Brush, Splatana, etc. Killing one also clears a huge area, giving you some more breathing room. Flyfish: Absolutely prioritize this thing. Any weapon that can do explosive damage is capable of damaging the buckets, actually. Most notably the Explosher, which a direct hit to the salvos can break them, but shooting right between the lids will blow them both up in one projectile. The Ink Jet is also capable of destroying the buckets with one projectile per bucket. Blasters may have a harder time since a direct hit to the lid won't do anything. Killer Wail 5.1 will also do quick work since it'll aim straight for the pilot. A Booyah Bomb while the salvos are exposed will work, too. I've also tested if any other damage to the salvos would work, and no only explosives work. Stinger: Absolutely take them out the moment you see them. Any rapid-fire weapon or explosive weapons recommended. Also, don't just focus on the base and let gravity do the rest. Slowly move your reticle up from the base so you can hit as many pots as fast as possible as they fall. Explosive weapons like Blasters can take out multiple pots at the same time with a mid-air explosion from the sides. Fish Stick: If you have a rapid-fire weapon with long enough reach, start shooting at the Smallfries as soon as they are in range. You do not even have to climb the tower, and instead, shoot from the ground to save you time. Weapons like Splatlings, Dualies and Shooters are capable of hitting the Smallfries from below (except weapons with low range). Big Shot: I would highly consider this a high priority target alongside Stingers and Flyfish. If left unchecked, it's the Alterna Dance Chamber all over again. However, if there's one cannon in the field, Big Shots will share that cannon, so you don't have to worry too much about trying to find them; they'll be localized. Flipper-Flopper: Not much to say but lure it, but also if you are in immediate danger, fill that ring. The ring instantly covers the floor in ink, so it can really screw you over if you don't watch out. Slammin' Lid: The slam-down it does can instakill Bosses. If you can help it, bait a boss underneath it, and either bait the Slammin' Lid to slam-down, or start killing it immediately if you can aim for it. Also, you can't ride it forever. It'll slap you away with a ladle if you stand on it for too long. In any case where it's pretty much alone and no bosses are under it, just kill it. Steel Eel: Do not underestimate it; it spread a lot of ink as it moves. Out of all the roaming bosses, this is up there in the priority list. If it chases you and there's no way to get around it to kill it yourself, keep running and let your team try to take care of it. Sticking to the high ground helps take it out yourself since you'll have a better vantage point and the Steel Eel will have to take the path up.
These are good tips! I would add for Steel Eel that you absolutely should not let these things coil (actually happens somewhat in the video at 1:20) since if they start doing that, it’s insanely difficult to actually kill them since the driver is now being protected by the main body. It‘s usually better to let it stretch itself out even if this does let it cover more ground
The turrets used in a Cohock charge and certain normal weapons like the Explosher can take out Flyfish if you shoot into their open baskets. Paint paths along the floor and up the walls during down time. Fish Sticks will form deadly traps to screw you over later, especially when they're around the basket so don't leave them around, some weapons can take them out from the ground. _Don't group up during Grillers._ Y'know I really wish you could see teammates' bomb arcs in this mode, many a time I and a random have targeted the same Flyfish basket or have awkwardly stood in front of it waiting for the other to throw first.
Thanks for the video! A thing I notice that helps a lot is in the few seconds before a round starts take the time to try and ink as much as possible. After playing the maps for a bit you learn what spots are most trafficked by the team. And don’t forget walls! There are some walls that are super important to have inked for easier escape/traversal. It might just be a few seconds but I’ve been able to ink up a good amount of ground depending on what weapon I have.
Use the fish stick pillars. I can’t stress how many times I’ve seen people just go up the pillar for the boss and then forget about it entirely. Use the pillar as high ground to pick off slamin lids without baiting them, a good place to chuck bombs at the fly fish’s basket, and an all around good salmon free area that can be used to scope out you surroundings
I don't know if this is well-known but you cannot shoot through the slammin' lid's beam; so make sure that, if you're downed, you aren't in or behind the beam so that others can revive you more easily.
Profreshional tip: *PLEASE* , for the love of COD, *INK YOUR SURROUNDINGS* and *DON’T LET BASIC CHUM AND COHOCK PILE UP* . I’ve been in so many instances where players seem to completely ignore/forget that the basic Salmonids are ALSO running at you to try and splat you. I get it, bosses should be taken care of so we can collect those little golden eggs we love to gremlin hoard so much, but I can’t really GET TO THEM if no one is helping me take care of these hoards of Chum charging at me on a empty tank. Not to mention, now I can’t get away because no one cleaned up that yucky, green moss trail the Steel Eel or Stinger left from earlier. Now I have no ground or walls to escape with and I’m being ganked by all these basic Salmonids!! Chum, Cohock and Smallfry are Salmon too, please acknowledge them and don’t just focus on bosses! The basket will still be there for those little golden orbs you like to yeet so much *AFTER* you’ve taken care of the piling Chum you left behind.
I think one of the biggest traps I see people fall into is using the big shot cannon too much. Yea it's great you can shoot the golden eggs NEAR the basket but if the basket area isn't clear and half of the team is focused on the cannon those eggs aren't going in. I've had plenty of runs fail because I'm the only person turning in the eggs and we fail with a ton of eggs around the basket but with the trash and bosses that swarm the area you can't feasibly do it on your own. On specials I've gotten to the point where I'll use both my specials on the first wave if I have to if it's a particularly rough round. Losing 10 or maintaining rank is way better than dying first round and losing 20 points.
Use the Help command when you need to be revived. Today I noticed that all three teammates were down and spent 15 seconds trying to locate them only for them to finally call for help in the last ten seconds of the wave. Also you will not be revived if you are under the Slammin' Lid and Steel Eel. Ink will not pass through them. And don't hug the walls under a teammate or circle behind a teammate as they are trying to revive you.
So a few tips I have: Glow files So sometimes there’s a chance where a map has a cheat spot so you can camp there while your teammates kill the salmons. Mudmouths: Don’t stand in front of them. That isn’t very smart. If there’s a spot where you can throw from a distance do that instead. Fog never ever go alone Also this way is key in this round. Giant tornado: I think this one is obvious but you should always have at least one teammate near the basket so it’s easier to score. This tip is for slammin lid If this boss is near you and you have high ground. That’s your chance to shoot it from above. Trust me it saves you some time. Mothership: Try not the let too many baskets on the map or else it will probably be a crew wipe. that one round with the launchers(I don’t know the name) Don’t go too far into the salmon zone. Unless someone has you backed up. It’s best to stay near the basket if no one is guarding you. Grillers: Just don’t be an idiot lol. But fr tho try to juke the grillers and don’t ran away the normal way. That’s all the tips I got I think.
I have a correction for you. There is NO point to "saving your specials for the king salmon." Even if you have both of your specials going into the extra round, Mr. Grizz only gives you one. You'll actually lose that extra special you had "saved". Also, if you go into the final round with no specials, you'll still get one restored for fighting the king.
This might seem as an obvious one but if you die: please for the love of god spam the help button and make your way to the basket as best as you can. It happens so often that I notice too late that somebody died and when trying to revive said person, I'll see them on the other end of map just sitting there. Let your team mates know you're dead and swim towards them, it helps out a lot!
For Glowflies: as the target, try to suspend yourself on a wall high enough to avoid the salmonids. It'll keep all of the salmonids in one place because they'll be continuously running into the wall and will make it easier for the rest of the team to take care of.
I have a very big Cohozuna tip that many people ignore. Keep your focus on the bosses and use the golden eggs for other bosses if you can. Using your weapon on the Cohozuna alone is not going to do much damage alone, you need to focus on the bosses so you can use your egg launcher.
A lot of tips focus on how to kill the more annoying boss Salmonids like Flyfishes and Stingers. But just as important is to recognize the bosses that AREN’T that tricky. Namely, Scrappers and Maws (and Goldies in special rounds). These three are very easily avoided and very easy to kill (Scrappers are easily stunned for a quick kill, Maws are easily OHKO’d with a bomb, Goldies have decent bulk but their attack is pitifully short, and only show up in special rounds). Because of this, don’t just kill them as soon as they pop up. Lure them to the basket so you can easily snag all three eggs with no lengthy runback or risk of snatchers taking the eggs away.
Weapon tip: While not always present, the explosher can kill mudmouths (aim for the bottom of their mouths) and flyfish with it's regular shot (aim for the parts where you would normally throw bombs)
_Please_ shoot down the Drizzler missile whenever you have the opportunity. Even if you can’t line up the shot, stopping it from raining is very, VERY important.
My tip is to READ THE MANUAL, it has a bunch of useful tips that literally no one knows for some reason. For example, during the event where you try to find the goldie in the gushers, the higher the water, the closer you are to the goldie.
Here’s a really good tip I found out in the last few days: if another boss is under the slamming lid and you can’t reach it because of the force field, trigger the slamming lid and as long as the boss is still under it, it’ll kill it (yes, you still get the eggs). Same thing happens with any normal Salmonids under the slamming lid too, but idk about King Salmonids Also even tho this vid was posted 4 days ago, I only got the notification a few hours ago 🤔🤔🤔
fun story: once me and my friend were playing salmon run in the lower levels (i was much higher level than he was), and at one point a slammin lid appeared. there wasn't much else to fight, so we all immediately jumped onto it and murdered it on the spot. unfortunately, the slammin lid had literally just appeared, so it was still over the water... the entire crew fell in and we had a crew wipe. my friend and i were too busy laughing to be upset :p
Here’s my tip If you end up getting a big shot cannon, a decent strategy is to have a few people lure bosses toward it then have your other teammates stay near the basket and score the shot eggs
Splatgang tips. Some bosses can be stunned and are less of a threat. So for example of you had the car one coming and a steel head you can stun the car and take out the steel head as his explosion can be really bad for an area.
Hey I know this is off topic but i love your dragon quest symphonic suite videos!! Just got into dragon quest last year and i love those orchestal tracks so much
I do think this is a valuable technique if you are purely focusing on survival (i.e the quota’s filled already and some people are down and there are 10 seconds left, so yeah, just survive), but yeah, this isn’t a technique that’s reliable in higher Salmon Run ranks It often puts the eggs in a bad spot and makes you are one person down. And it’s not something you can do forever as Salmonids will jump up to you after a while. I think the only time you should do this is if multiple teammates are down, and you’re waiting for their lifesavers to come up. You can then usually use a Squid Surge to get off the wall and try and revive your teammates
My tips is to keep inking your base when the wave is over, don’t waste this 3-4 second, this time is precious and can help to having more mobility on the next wave !
I think the most important tip is *look at the weapon composition* to find the strengths and weaknesses of a certain comp. Let's look at the current salmon run weapons as an example. Splattershot Pro can't paint well but can use their range as efficient Fish Stick killers, it tends to do fine vs lessers as well. Rapid Blaster is the fastest counter to Stinger in the group and also has the range to safely do so, you can counter Fish Sticks on ground level like how Splatter Pro can, and are the backup lesser killer for when your Carbon sucks. Ballpoint is a generalist that can paint fine, kill bosses fine, and kill lessers fine, there's no situation it does outright bad in. Carbon is the most consistent painter of the group but has no range, so your main job is to paint pathways for the team, counter Flipper Floppers, and be the primary killer of lessers. Finding the utility in every salmon run weapon can make your gameplay more efficient and focused. If you're playing in conditions that your weapon thrives in 90% of the time, and if your whole team is doing the same thing, then you'll see HLM games in no time.
Another hint. Once you get to around Professional 3 or Eggsecutive you don't need to worry about taking and protecting every single egg. I saw a pro team do this where their main goals were to take out the bosses so they don't overwhelm them and than would go back egg basket after making the rounds for other bosses. Usually even after they primarily target bosses over eggs they still have such a large portion of bosses near the basket at the end they tend to get over 10 eggs in the last 15 seconds usually.
Fun fact: The Salmonids specifically Chums, Cohocks, Small Fry’s, Snatchers and maybe Goldie’s no longer slow down on enemy ink. They still go to their normal speed regardless or enemy ink in their paths. They just make a trail of “ink” and they “keep moving forward” until they splat all of their enemies. Snatchers can now fly so ground level can’t be a thing anymore. Some Salmonid bosses I personally know got buffed and nerfed and the one I can tell so far is that the buff boss is Steelhead which his bomb detonates sooner. The one boss that got nerfed is Maws, like she can’t be anymore easier. The sound really gives Maws away before she launches for a bite.
Here's some tips I've found real helpful in my games: -Blasters are the best at decimating stingers. Instead of just one of the pots at a time, a blaster easily gets four, taking only three or four shots total. -I know the video said not to go off on your own, but if you see a stinger/flyfish/drizzler that's really causing problems, go get it. Just don't let yourself get surrounded by smaller guys or other bosses, because if you do, THAT'S when going off alone becomes an issue. (Try a few "This way!"'s to get a teammate to join if you don't feel confident.) -Speaking of, teamwork is extremely important. definitely respond to "This Way"'s from your teammates, they're doing it for a reason. Revive your teammates ASAP; keep an eye on the roster in the top left and make sure you're basically always a full team of four. Having even just one less person for an extended period of time can doom a game. -Chargers and Stringers are perfect for one-shotting steelheads. -THE INKJET MISSILES CAN REPLACE BOMBS FOR FLYFISH. If you have Inkjet and there are multiple flyfish bombarding you, there is literally no better time to pop your special. -As was said in the video, lead bosses that follow you (Scrappers, Maws, Steel Eels) to the egg basket. Even if we can throw eggs now this makes the commute so much faster, giving more time for other bosses. -Once a Flipper-Flopper's zone is fully your color, it cannot be re-painted by enemies. Use this as a *very temporary* safe zone if need be. Also, when you do get the zone fully colored, you can start attacking the flipper-flopper itself and the damage will carry over to when it tries to hop in the ink, typically killing it immediately. -When you've got glowflies, find a spot near the egg basket that has only one entryway for the salmonids. This way you don't get surrounded on two sides and immediately destroyed by them. Swimming on walls can keep you safe for a bit, but eventually the salmonids will start stacking on top of each other and get you. (I learned this the hard way.) AND, if you've got a roller (other than carbon) rolling very slowly forward is the best way to take out the tiny guys. You won't be able to roll over the gold ones, though. -for the love of god use your specials. I don't care if you're not in a dangerous situation, there is no reason to still have a special charge at the end of wave 3. Used Specials = more eggs/better chance of a won game. - BOOYAH BACK WHEN YOUR TEAMMATE USES A BOOYAH BOMB. THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE CHARGING IT THEMSELVES.
one thing I learned about the flyfish. If you are given the explosher it is the direct counter to them. The normal attack takes out the baskets in ONE HIT. 2 attacks and that flyfish is gone, keep that in mind whenever you're given that weapon
I think the worse thing about the fly fish is just how much ink you lose when throwing a bomb. Usually when I'm facing a fly fish I'm also being bombarded by base salmonids and taking them out takes so much ink that when the fly fish is ready I'm still refilling my ink, only to get another round of salmonids
@@SwordfighterRed dude! Also bombs in general in Salmon Run are so wack! You don't know how many times I threw a bomb towards a fly fish and it's hit by a weaker salmonid or something. Hell, I just got a clip yesterday where we I chucked one at a flyfish and it bounced off of the stupid rain torpedo thing!
1. You can use the UFO to kill bosses as well so if it’s in a position close to where bosses are spawning consider running under them to kill bosses instead of killing them. 2. You can use the golden eggs during the cohozuna phase to one shot bosses, seriously don’t save your ults like he says, you’re wasting your time. 3. At higher ranks the fly fish is less of a priority because of how much time it takes to kill. Definitely try to kill them if you can. But don’t sit around waiting for them if there are other bosses to kill. 4. The new boss, the cage boss and the maw can all be dragged to the center, if you are careful so can the snake. I highly recommend doing so if you can. 5. Ink the field whenever there is ANY free time including at the beginning because nothing is worse than being stuck in enemy ink. 6. If you need to move to another part of the map because bosses are there, but salmon are still spawning where you are at. Consider leaving a bomb to slow them down. 7. If the new boss is already fairly inked, you can kill it while it’s in the air before it even drops. 8.) snipers are good at clearing long lines of salmon when fully charged and should prioritize the green bomb salmons 9. Rollers can kill the small salmon very easily, if you are with your entire team where a bunch of bosses are spawning, consider focusing on salmon while they handle the bosses 10. During the golden fly phase, you can get on a tall wall in squid form and hold a and up at the same time to get in super jump mode while your team kills the salmon underneath you without struggling to run away making it far easier. Mind that if they don’t kill them fast enough the salmons can jump up and kill you so be prepared.
Also I believe (apart from grizzco weapons) the Explosher is the only main weapon that can take out flyfish So if the Explosher is in rotation and you get it, be on flyfish duty and also paint walls since it’s inking radius is very big
One tip with Slammin' Lids: make sure that they are above solid ground before you bait them. If you're standing on a part of it that's directly above water when you kill it, you'll be taking a dive into the water when it falls.
Heres one I learned: In some situations, it is possible to one shot a flyfish with a bomb. If it's near an edge, which you could bait it to if you know how, you can throw a bomb on that ledge in between the two missle canisters to destroy them both in one fell swoop. Just make sure the blast radius of the bomb touches both canisters whilst they're open and you're good to go.
Another useful tip to kill quickly and easily Flyfish in Cohock Charge waves : The cannon missiles can be thrown into Flyfish’s baskets like regular bombs (and it explodes immediately). It may sound obvious but I didn’t know that worked til I tried it.
A few tips of mine: 1. You should never let any area denial bosses pile up for too long. Things like Steel Eels, Slammin' Lids, Fish Stick etc. These bosses specialise in locking off and denying areas, and the longer they stay alive, the more influential they are. Deal with these bosses at the earliest opportunity (which doesn't mean on the shore, far away from the basket!). 2. If you see a lone boss in some random corner, especially with the backline bosses (Flyfish, Stingers, Big Shots), it can be tempting to move from your location and chase them down solo. Don't! If you get killed you will be far away from anyone who can help. The loss of one player with no way to bring them back can even lead to a crew wipe, especially on high tide. At least get a teammate or two by using "This Way!". 3. If you get killed, call for help. "This Way!" gets replaced with "Help!" automatically upon death. It helps your teammates find you (especially useful if you died in a bad position).
Glad that someone made a video like this. The newcomers were in desperate need of 1. I would've recommended using bombs for teammates, but you did that, so great job! My tip: use the Slamming Lid to kill bosses! They will instakill Steel Heads or Scrappers underneath, or other bosses if you get lucky enough for them to overlap, or I guess here its underlap
So, as a long time Salmon Run player, here are some additional details to some of these tips: - As other people mentioned, never save your specials even for the big guy, you'll always start the extra wave with 1 special regardless - Yes lurking bosses near your basket is great to harvest golden eggs more easily, but only to a degree. When reaching high ranks with tons of bosses, only do that when you're confident about your situation. Each second your not killing a boss, is a second for 3 other bosses to sneak up behind you - As for the slamming lid, when it smashes on the ground, you may have noticed that it kills everything underneath it. The neat part, is that it actually one shot EVERY bosses as well (minus the king obviously), so if you time it properly, you can get rid of very annoying bosses instantly that way
Adding onto Salmonlids, if there are bosses under it, they can kill them instantly if you bait them. This honestly saved us a handful of times and a good haul of eggs.
Something to note: Slammin lids ONLY come down when a player is underneath. 'waiting' for it to do so is a waste of time, you have to either bait it, or snipe it if it's in a good position and you have a good weapon.
For Specials on Eggsecutive VP it's better to save them for an emergency because it actually can be risky using them because everything surrounds you and extremely high boss spawn rates, booyah bombs can be a life saver
So for the prioritize saving ur team mates, I had one teammate who kept falling into the water on purpose that my team kinda just abandoned them since they still kept going into the water even when they were down.
Some thing that have annoyed me recently that I think a lot of people don’t know If you have the explosher on a round and there’s a lot of fly fish USE IT the explosher can take down fly fish if you throw the ink inside when it opens The drizzlers storm can be cancelled if there are multiple people on one drizzler focus on taking out the missile that it shoots out and it will prevent a storm If you have a sniper weapon on a round DO NOT GO FRONTLINE unless it’s the grizzco sniper then it’s not going to do much if you use it frontline instead try take down slamming kids or steelheads When a steelhead is killed it will make a explosion of your ink so if you see a bunch of salmons surrounding a steelhead take down the steelhead first and the explosion will take down some of the other salmons If you are playing the glowfly round thing do not go off on your own you will die the best thing to do is find a wall and stay on it salmons can’t go up walls so they will get stuck Please booyah back and celebrate at the end of rounds it makes the game feel more alive it just feels like your playing with bots when no one interacts with each other
One tip I've found, especially when you're higher ranked, is don't be afraid to kill bosses and not collect the golden eggs. The stingray and fly fish are a complete pain in the ass and will wipe out your whole crew if you're distracted with other bosses. If you need to kill them just to survive, not collect their eggs, and focus on other bosses do that. Of course this depends on how many eggs you have and how much time is left, but I've found it's just better to wipe them out and then focus on bosses that are closer to the basket. Also for the slammin lids, you can go under them, and then immediately squid roll out. It isn't much faster than just going under normally, but it looks kinda cool lol
my number one tip if you're new is to PLEASE read what the different events are, i've been crew wiped so many times because im the only person who knows what to do during glowflies (if you get glowflied the best thing to do is swim on a wall and let your teamates get it, and DO NOT split up. EVER.) as well as the mothership event, most of the events in general tbh
Here's a tip from a long time s2 player Tips on boss (very high risk, very high rewards) Wait till the bosses get close enough to the basket then kill This will make easier to move the eggs faster but DO NOT CONTINUE if the place is hard to navigate or very sticky situation, keep in mind some bosses stay in their place or move randomly and don't follow you Tips on bosses ( sorry I keep forgetting the names ): On the marry Poppin looking boss, before they gonna shoot you can place a bomb to make it faster tho you need to time it right do it early but not too early, and if you don't know this boss will shoot something look like a torpedo ( flying green ball ) you can shoot it down and if you can aim it correctly you can also able to kill a boss with this if miss well at least there will be no rain For the mario kart looking boss, put a bomb for the shield that way you will damage the kart faster and you can hit them from behind much faster tips on modes : ( Fly fish boss only ) If you get the canon when the fly fish open their canon aim for the mid part between the lid and cup line it will count as a take down ( somewhat like you throw a bomb and it successfully gets down ) On rush mode Find a place where there only be 1 path ( if possible with high terrain ) group as one and take turns to kill and shoot eggs, 2 kill ( if your the target ( indicate by glowing particles) you must kill do not do the egg task ) the salmonoids and bosses while the other is putting eggs or 3 kill and 1 egg putting, if your the target and you messed up, go up and down the terrain up floor and down floor to trick the tracking system do be careful with this because sometimes you might be unlucky and get stuck on the bottom Goldie seeking ( pipes ) When you open one depending how high the flow is, the higher the burst of the flow that means the closer is to the boss pipe, if it's small that means your not near Giant tornado mode Use a bomb to make it faster to break the boxes If possible or playing with friends do this formation . = Players _ = how far it is - = basket placement and golden egg box -___°___°___°___°- This way will make it easier to transport ( use the shoot egg basket mechanic by pressing A ) Hope this helps and have a nice day ( I think I break my neck after writing this )
On tip I have is pay attention to small details with weapons For example, did you know Explosher can kill Flyfish without throwing a single splat bomb? Learning little tips like this for each weapon can help a lot, like how Dynamo makes rush/glowflies rounds a breeze, E-Liter can instakill most bosses with a full charge, and other small things like this. Also learn to lure to the basket. It's better to splat bosses like maws or scrappers near the basket so their eggs are quick and easy to grab, rather than splatting then almost immediately after spawning.
another tip is to shoot the things that drizzlers shoot, people really underestimate how much damage enemy ink does and the ink storm damage can stack really quickly
the utter primal rage i felt as i stand in a corner fighting for my life with at least 9 eggs around me desperately spamming this way while my teammates all huddle on the other side of the map and theres 10 second on the clock and all we need are like 3 more eggs and we got round 3 in the bag
Slammin’ lids are rather annoying with their shields which can cause many problems with aggressive bosses like steal heads. You may know this but forcing a Slammin’ lid to well slam will instakill any salmonids in their area of protection. Meaning you can kill bosses with Slammin lid’s slam. Also please use the help button when you are down so that we know!
Also to your help comment, you can move when you're down. Don't sit far away from everyone behind all the salmonids that killed you make your way back towards the nearest person so they can get you up easier. And group up with any other downed players to make it easier on the ones left
Tip If you see a fishstick, try to take it out. (if you dont have other anoying bosses) It can easely stack up and ink a lot of ground, making it easy for other bosses to wipe your team. If there are many, they also make traversing the area really hard. They can also easely wipe your team If there is a lot of them. As a Professional+3 player. They are very anoying. Hope this helps😄
Tip: if you got your Quota and the bosses are swarming you just run away but do this when the wave is about to finish up + I did that that today so yeah. Tip 2: when you lose wave 3 your pay rank does not go down. Tip 3: the slam and lid can kill over bosses and do a squid roll if you can. Tip 4 when the ufo wave happens satay near the basket so when the ufo goes for it you can get it off the basket quickly and you can kill the box guys to get the eggs to not waste time since your team will probably do something else. Those are my tips yep
killing stingers and flyfish are definetly a high priority but i also think big shot should also be on the same priority as these two. one big shot? annoying, yet manageable. two or more? very dangerous. big shots can stack pretty easy and new ones can use already existing cannons from old big shots that you have previously killed so they can stack pretty easily.
I would say big shot should also be a priority besides the stinger, but i would not recommend killing the flyfish unless you’re on a shift with either an explosher or a grizzco sloshing machine (they take down flyfish fast) or you really need the eggs) imo the best way to deal with the flyfish is to only bomb one of their baskets. that way you only have two flyfish with half of the firepower (so one flyfish really) at any time. If you kill the flyfish it will get replaced with a full flyfish, so while you run around splating and collecting eggs suddenly you’ll have two full flyfish attacking you again.
A tip when doing gushers/finding the Goldie, once Mr. Grizz says the Goldie has been found, don’t open any more gushers. Go straight to the Goldie. This can help all players not get overwhelmed. If you’re the one who found the Goldie, use the This Way command to let your teammates know where the Goldie is.
Grillers. Whenever a Griller is targeted at you, find a ledge where you can swim back up. This is normally near the basket. You stall the Griller by jumping off the ledge and swimming back up. This is done by staying at the bottom of the ledge, and as soon as it nearly reaches you, swim back up ontop of the ledge. The Griller will take the long way up. If the Griller is near majority of your team mates when you go back up, go back down the ledge. This way, it will provide your team mates time to stop it from moving and kill it easily by shooting down, instead of up. If your team mates don't kill it in time, repeat. Goldie Rush. When the glowflies target you, stay on a wall where your team mates can shoot the enemies since the enemies can't go up walls.
Concentration and spacial awareness is key. Be aware what enemies are near the basket, and use the fish sticks to your advantage! High ground gives you so much more power against most bosses!
Slamonlid can actually kill bosses if you bait a bos under one and then trigger the slam, though I wouldn't recommend aiming for that, but when an opportunity arises don't let it slip by, unless it would get you killed of course
Quick tips: Ya got 6 seconds in the rain, even less time if ya got hit so get out of the drizzler's rain asap. You can only take 3 of big shots wave hits, less if ya got hit by anything else, even a stray off splash of a flyfish or a bigshot wave Lure the following to the basket: Dolphins, scrappers, steelhead [if ya got a solid sniper], maws If distant enemies priority for the following: Flyfish, Bigshot [especially if there's 3 on one Cannon take them out], stingers as they always target a single person who is at the most distance from them If you see a fish stick, immediately take it out. It limits movement by a significant amount and your long distance boss killer gets a safe perch from most things. The following can speed run mudmouths and flyfish: Crab Tank, Jetpack, bombs, golden eggs during emergency, explosher Fly fish in particular: there's actually a specific spot you can aim for that's between the two baskets that would one shot them, though difficult with a bomb and situational, it's very possible with things like explosher Use your specials if it's going to save your waves 1 and 2. It's fine to lose wave 3 because you don't lose anything literally. But if you wipe in wave 1 you lose a solid 20 and in wave 2 you lose 10. Literally, saving your specials is never worth it. Crab tank optimization: if ya got cohozuna, use the shooter the entire time it's active on it, it takes out a good portion of the big guy's hp. If ya need to res your teammates and you're surrounded, become a ball. It protects you, splats small fry and chums, can protect you from some missiles and splash dmg and rezs your downed teammates all in one. You can also Jump when a ball so instead of walking simply roll and hop it's faster. The bomb launcher use for flyfish, stingrays, crowds of lessers. It's an incredible boss killer. Cohock cannons: Do not fire when they are JUST getting out of the water, fire when there's a fair amount of them, you'll waste ink if ya preemptively shoot. When your ink goes down to 50 or 25% try to refill don't wait till you're empty. It also gives you a solid bit of time to check if there's a maws nearby.
Additionally Goldie runs: Please don't start with hanging on the walls. When goodies Die, they drop eggs in difficult areas if you're on the wall. Use the wall to give your team respite. Ya got 7 seconds before they start jumping. Use the walls to drop down when they are low on ink so they can collect eggs n recharge. Speaking of glowflies: don't pick the place with two entryways. Even if the wall is taller, don't. I am especially referring to sockeye station. You want 1 entryway as top priority, the other reqs would be easy or durable to port eggs to the basket, and a tall wall, if you can't have all three then 2 out of three is best.
Slammin' Lids can be used to instakill other bosses, which is extremely useful against Steelheads as you don't have to wait for the bomb to appear, baiting a Slammin' Lid into smashing it will kill it regardless.
My tip is to always Booyaa when another player either helps you or at the start of a match to let them know you are both thankful and ready to work with them :)
Splat gang. I was in few salmon games and the players would set off their super power at the end like in celebration and then several times we’ve had Cohozuna …smh great tip on the Slamming Lid didn’t know that!!
I was gonna comment this lol
It's really dumb. Actively punishes you for not having to use resources.
Its insane how many people dont understand this. It loses so many games
This. It would be even better if it were a +1 instead setting to 1.
Salmon runners need to know this
Wait that's actually sick and it kinda makes sense too
Definitely going to do that thanks !
Does this work on non cohozuna waves?
@@LuminoX688 No, the egg cannon is different from the egg throw. The cannon destroys the egg but the throw doesn't.
@@lett6471 you messed up the tag lol
And another thing the throw can do damage
It has a hitbow around you when you throw an egg and it does 100 damage
@@LuminoX688 I think they meant throwing an egg at a boss not throwing an egg near a boss
Other little tips that people could have missed
-The Squid Roll is very useful and can parry hits of normal Salmons or bait the Slammin Lid boss + the Lid boss can crush other bosses under it when it comes down
-When there is a Drizzler (Ink Storm Boss) you can shoot their projectile to cancel the Ink Storm and if you shoot it towards the Boss it can oneshot it and its very useful because this Boss can be annoying
-In the Goldie hiding wave the amount of ink that is left by the pillars indicates how far away the Goldie is hidden
Exemple : if you shoot a thing where the Goldie could hide and it leaves a high ink pillar it means that the Goldie is hidden close to that ink pillar
And if the ink pillar is small it means that the Goldie is far away
wow thx! i didnt know the last one
@@weetabix64 no problem !
I didn't realize those little umbrella jerks were the ones causing ink storms! Who causes the eave breaker waves?
@@Wolf-px9jx the one that causes the waves is the big shot who is a backline so next to the water
@@LuminoX688 OOOOH, whats the animation for him doing it?
Whats the other weapon rolls im new
@@micdonallls8853 ruclips.net/video/mAQKecopAtQ/видео.html here's the link to a Squid School video on general weapon roles
A full charged Stringer does a BIG chunk of damage
Steel heads also do alot of damage on kohozuna upon death, so if you see them close together, it's worth focusing the steelhead just for that splash damage alone.
My tips:
Last tip is key
One tipp i can say is INK THE SMALL WALLS
these walls that are like inbetween the superjump spot and basket of spawning grounds, they often give people trouble. They can jump over it, but if you get damaged, it dosen't work,
if it is inked you can get over it by swimming, but not if it isn't inked
Extra tip for fog mode: if there is a Goldie - lure it to the basket. Do not kill it at the shore. They are not a threat at all, they are slow, and have bad range. Lure it to the basket and kill it there. Since there is a chance it drops 5 or 10 eggs, bring it to the basket. I cannot tell you how many times my teammates have killed it at the shore, 10 eggs drop, but theyre too far and we lose the wave due to not meeting the quota.
wait i thought goldies walk a pre set path and you just have to try and shoot it as much as possible before it reaches another manhole??
@@scribblecloud In the gushers mode yes they do. My comment referred to the fog mode, where they literally just walk around like a chum and you can lure them back.
@@Matt-bb1tr ohhhh right okay!
I'm proud to say I have a screenshot of me legitimately dying to a Goldie during a fog wave
Heck, sometimes just leaving the eggs there is probably a better option because bosses are constantly spawning and you retrieving those faraway eggs is time that you aren't killing another boss that's probably closer to the basket.
to add to this sometimes a snatcher can help you bring eggs closer to the basket!! sometimes its worth it to keep a snatcher alive since they can fly now, instead of just coming up from the water and taking the eggs back with them. sometimes they fly over the entire map while taking your eggs so have them do the heavy lifting sometimes!!
also if you don't have a egg in your life guard you can pick up one and leave the others
My suggestions for Salmon Run are:
1: Make use of your Squid Rolls. Yes this is a simple movement option, but once you start to use it, you’ll feel how valuable it becomes. You can use it to grab an egg that’s under a swarm of salmonids safely as the roll will provide you with armor, and will allow you to survive if you get caught under the Slammin Lid, making baiting out its attack much easier
2. Do not lose focus on the Salmonid King. Of course, it is important to be aware of its position and what it plans to do next, since the last thing you want is to be crushed by its jump attack. Pay attention to how close it is to other bosses and give yourself room to throw eggs so that it doesn’t end up covering them, or too close to risk snatching them up
3. The King has a weak point. Aim for the belly. The King will restore health if left alone, but will take increased damage if you strike its stomach - you’ll notice the white damage marker is much larger. If you have its attention, keep chipping at its stomach, and try to angle it so that your team can safely and quickly hit its weak spot
5. Utilize walls. Salmonids can’t climb, so throwing eggs higher up where you know it’s safer, retreating to high ground up a wall and keeping lookout from a tall viewpoint will all come in handy, especially in something like Glowfly Rush. I cannot stress how important wall escape routes are
6. Trust me, a leaping Cohock is as dangerous as it is scary
7. Finally, use Slammin Lids to your advantage. Crush Steelheads that get under them, or use their slam attack to clear out a wave of enemies, and make use of it when it rises again. I heavily recommend using the Slammin Lid as a safety platform where you can shoot down from a comfortable spot to lend your team support, or even take down a nearby Slammin with ease
Sorry for making this so long, but I really do believe these are all important tips you should know
I lied, Final tip: Squidbag at the end, you earned the celebration
Quick priority list for bosses:
Main target: Steelhead, Flyfish, Stinger
Next: Big Shot, Fish Stick, Slammin Lid, Steel Eel, Drizzler
Last: Maw, Flipper Flopper, Scrapper
This is what I follow personally.
I think the only special that doesn’t work is the wavebreaker, as you can still lose even when it’s still active
something I learned playing salmon run in splatoon 2, if you’re being chased by a bunch of salmonids, look down and place a bomb as you’re moving. the bomb should explode at the spot you just were, and it should get rid of some of the swarm. it’s faster than looking behind you and throwing a bomb, because during that time you could get splatted. this is just for anybody who didn’t know. y’all have fun!
- you can use slamminlid to kill bosses
- use walls for safety however salmonids can climb eventually so only stay till your ink tank is full then squid surge off and drop a bomb
- big shot cannon can shoot eggs at the basket and like he said about stingray, he should be a priority
- don't ignore salmonids, they are one of the worst killers when they multiply
- flippor flopper is actually vulnerable right before it jumps again
- explosher kills flyfish easy peasy
- know your roles as a weapon-> backliners target bosses, support is an all rounder but stay back but still in reach, frontliners target enemies that backliner cant cover
- make the scrapper face you at a direction where your teammate can kill it from behind
- risky but you can lure enemies by a steelhead then kill it so it kills them all
- you can lure salmonids in a bunch then drop a bomb, afterwards finish off the cohock
- wave breaker is amazing for glowflies and grillers (kills all the smallfry on griller wave) and rescues all teammates in reach
- you can use chums on helicopters to bring the eggs closer if you kill them at the right time
- on the cohozuna wave, use two eggs to attack cohozuna but one egg to kill a boss
- goldie can be killed very fast if you're a roller and you run against it but it takes good control to stay long enough to kill it
Typically in higher level salmon run its better to leave the flyfish on one basket so they can only shoot 4 missiles instead of eight and if you fully kill the thing a new one win spawn almost immediately in a harder toreach location so you would be dealing with more missiles overall and there can only be three at a time and then you have power eggs to fall back on if you are missing too many for the quota
Define higher level. Profeshional or higher?
idk what u mean for this bc like.
3) there's an audio cue for king salmonid waves (at the end of the match the jingle gets messed up and distorted)
4) the conditions to get a king samonid is: one or more players must have their meter full and no player may have had a king in their last match.
7) while you need to bring enemies closer to the basket don't let them chill there, especially the steel eel that thing likes to wrap around the basket
8) with glowflies be aware what special you have: wavebreaker, killer wail, and crab tank are really effective, inkjet is good if your the last one alive cuz it gets you in the air with a cannon. While I'm sure there's uses for other specials there they seem risky to use.
9) wavebreaker can res teammates so can killerwail great specials to pop if half your team drops
10) Goldie seeking on high tide is usually a God send, most maps can't fit much more than 4 ink towers making it easy to find the right one, just don't open every one at once it's still high tide
11) during a mud mouth wave prioritize the golden because it spits out the big bois (I usually pop a special like killerwail) if there isn't a golden prioritize depending on team comp.
12) fish sticks have surprising inking power be sure to clear them when you can (this is easier for long range and shooters to do tho)
13) maws can still be taken down by chucking a bomb in its mouth.
15) if quota is met and your the only one alive res if you can but focus on survival
Overall have fun and get those super bonuses, try and play with friends when you can too :)
Tip #1 should just be "don't die." If you can learn good positioning, dodging techniques, plan escape routes ahead of time, and improve your situational awareness, your salmon run gameplay will improve more than any other way.
Yeah i have to many team mates keep dying over and over and thats what kept me a hard stuck overachiever even though im really good
Another point about bombs - A ticking bomb counts as a live player, so if you're the last player, you don't have special, there's a couple of seconds on the clock, and you can't see a teammate to revive? Chuck a bomb and hope it either finds a teammate or outlasts the clock. (Sadly doesn't work with the Wave Breaker - Though the Wave Breaker is IMO the best revival special in the mode)
I'd add Big Shot in with the priority backline bosses - The basket basically becomes that world 1 level in story mode if you leave them be and they provide an efficient way of transporting eggs from the coast to the basket when downed.
My personal tips for every boss:
Maws: Like you said, bring it as close to the basket as possible.
A note about the Big Shot cannons. You can put eggs in them and launch them closer to the basket.
_Don't group up during Grillers._
Y'know I really wish you could see teammates' bomb arcs in this mode, many a time I and a random have targeted the same Flyfish basket or have awkwardly stood in front of it waiting for the other to throw first.
Missiles and Maws can kill you for camping. That's a death trap if you're careless.
Don't get too much tunnel vision though, Maws can still get you up there
I don't know if this is well-known but you cannot shoot through the slammin' lid's beam; so make sure that, if you're downed, you aren't in or behind the beam so that others can revive you more easily.
Profreshional tip:
*PLEASE* , for the love of COD, *INK YOUR SURROUNDINGS* and *DON’T LET BASIC CHUM AND COHOCK PILE UP* .
So a few tips I have:
Glow files
So sometimes there’s a chance where a map has a cheat spot so you can camp there while your teammates kill the salmons.
Mudmouths:
Don’t stand in front of them. That isn’t very smart.
If there’s a spot where you can throw from a distance do that instead.
Fog
never
ever
go alone
Also this way is key in this round.
Giant tornado:
I think this one is obvious but you should always have at least one teammate near the basket so it’s easier to score.
This tip is for slammin lid
If this boss is near you and you have high ground. That’s your chance to shoot it from above. Trust me it saves you some time.
Mothership:
Try not the let too many baskets on the map or else it will probably be a crew wipe.
that one round with the launchers(I don’t know the name)
Don’t go too far into the salmon zone. Unless someone has you backed up. It’s best to stay near the basket if no one is guarding you.
Grillers: Just don’t be an idiot lol. But fr tho try to juke the grillers and don’t ran away the normal way.
That’s all the tips I got I think.
The wave with launchers is called Cohock Charge
Pretty sure specials always get set to 1 for the extra wave so there is 0 reason to save specials if you need them.
Same thing happens with any normal Salmonids under the slamming lid too, but idk about King Salmonids
Also even tho this vid was posted 4 days ago, I only got the notification a few hours ago 🤔🤔🤔
fun story: once me and my friend were playing salmon run in the lower levels (i was much higher level than he was), and at one point a slammin lid appeared. there wasn't much else to fight, so we all immediately jumped onto it and murdered it on the spot. unfortunately, the slammin lid had literally just appeared, so it was still over the water... the entire crew fell in and we had a crew wipe. my friend and i were too busy laughing to be upset :p
lmao this happened to me the other day, all 4 of us jumped onto a slammin lid, and we were all above water and instantly died when it dropped
Explosher can kill flyfish by shooting into the open missile pods. So if you get the explosher, your mission is keeping flyfish in check.
Here’s my tip
If you end up getting a big shot cannon, a decent strategy is to have a few people lure bosses toward it then have your other teammates stay near the basket and score the shot eggs
Just got into dragon quest last year and i love those orchestal tracks so much
I swear, if I see someone wall cling ONE MORE TIME during glowfly rush I'm going to lose it
I do think this is a valuable technique if you are purely focusing on survival (i.e the quota’s filled already and some people are down and there are 10 seconds left, so yeah, just survive), but yeah, this isn’t a technique that’s reliable in higher Salmon Run ranks
It often puts the eggs in a bad spot and makes you are one person down.
You can also hold down A in order to throw the eggs in splatoon 3!
Here's some tips I've found real helpful in my games:
-Blasters are the best at decimating stingers.
(Try a few "This way!"'s to get a teammate to join if you don't feel confident.)
-Speaking of, teamwork is extremely important. definitely respond to "This Way"'s from your teammates, they're doing it for a reason.
They're difficult to deal with and they put on too much pressure to ignore.
8.) snipers are good at clearing long lines of salmon when fully charged and should prioritize the green bomb salmons
9. Rollers can kill the small salmon very easily, if you are with your entire team where a bunch of bosses are spawning, consider focusing on salmon while they handle the bosses
Also I believe (apart from grizzco weapons) the Explosher is the only main weapon that can take out flyfish
So if the Explosher is in rotation and you get it, be on flyfish duty and also paint walls since it’s inking radius is very big
I would say that another tip to learn is to learn how to use the base game movement like the squid rolls and squid jumps
Another useful tip to kill quickly and easily Flyfish in Cohock Charge waves :
The cannon missiles can be thrown into Flyfish’s baskets like regular bombs (and it explodes immediately). It may sound obvious but I didn’t know that worked til I tried it.
for the slammin lid tip, if there's inkling ink under it, baiting it with a squid roll is super quick!
A few tips of mine:
So, as a long time Salmon Run player, here are some additional details to some of these tips:
- As other people mentioned, never save your specials even for the big guy, you'll always start the extra wave with 1 special regardless
- Yes lurking bosses near your basket is great to harvest golden eggs more easily, but only to a degree. When reaching high ranks with tons of bosses, only do that when you're confident about your situation. Each second your not killing a boss, is a second for 3 other bosses to sneak up behind you
- As for the slamming lid, when it smashes on the ground, you may have noticed that it kills everything underneath it.
When there's a lot of chaos and the countdown's ticking, fish stick towers can be a great way to hide from most bosses.
Another quick tip I learned through experience is if you have enough range or height you can splat a slamming lid without baiting the slam attack.
Some thing that have annoyed me recently that I think a lot of people don’t know
If you have the explosher on a round and there’s a lot of fly fish USE IT the explosher can take down fly fish if you throw the ink inside when it opens
The drizzlers storm can be cancelled if there are multiple people on one drizzler focus on taking out the missile that it shoots out and it will prevent a storm
If you have a sniper weapon on a round DO NOT GO FRONTLINE unless it’s the grizzco sniper then it’s not going to do much if you use it frontline instead try take down slamming kids or steelheads
When a steelhead is killed it will make a explosion of your ink so if you see a bunch of salmons surrounding a steelhead take down the steelhead first and the explosion will take down some of the other salmons
If you are playing the glowfly round thing do not go off on your own you will die the best thing to do is find a wall and stay on it salmons can’t go up walls so they will get stuck
Please booyah back and celebrate at the end of rounds it makes the game feel more alive it just feels like your playing with bots when no one interacts with each other
One tip I've found, especially when you're higher ranked, is don't be afraid to kill bosses and not collect the golden eggs.
It isn't much faster than just going under normally, but it looks kinda cool lol
sometimes waiting to kill the slammin lids will be worth it. if you can time it right, you can one shot scrappers and steel eels.
my number one tip if you're new is to PLEASE read what the different events are, i've been crew wiped so many times because im the only person who knows what to do during glowflies (if you get glowflied the best thing to do is swim on a wall and let your teamates get it, and DO NOT split up. EVER.) as well as the mothership event, most of the events in general tbh
One of my tips is for the Tornado wave. Have at least one or two people stay behind by the basket. This is so other teammates can throw you the eggs!
Here's a tip from a long time s2 player
Tips on boss (very high risk, very high rewards)
Wait till the bosses get close enough to the basket then kill
This will make easier to move the eggs faster but DO NOT CONTINUE if the place is hard to navigate or very sticky situation, keep in mind some bosses stay in their place or move randomly and don't follow you
Tips on bosses ( sorry I keep forgetting the names ):
On the marry Poppin looking boss, before they gonna shoot you can place a bomb to make it faster tho you need to time it right do it early but not too early, and if you don't know this boss will shoot something look like a torpedo ( flying green ball ) you can shoot it down and if you can aim it correctly you can also able to kill a boss with this if miss well at least there will be no rain
For the mario kart looking boss, put a bomb for the shield that way you will damage the kart faster and you can hit them from behind much faster
tips on modes :
( Fly fish boss only )
If you get the canon when the fly fish open their canon aim for the mid part between the lid and cup line it will count as a take down ( somewhat like you throw a bomb and it successfully gets down )
On rush mode
Find a place where there only be 1 path ( if possible with high terrain ) group as one and take turns to kill and shoot eggs, 2 kill ( if your the target ( indicate by glowing particles) you must kill do not do the egg task ) the salmonoids and bosses while the other is putting eggs or 3 kill and 1 egg putting, if your the target and you messed up, go up and down the terrain up floor and down floor to trick the tracking system do be careful with this because sometimes you might be unlucky and get stuck on the bottom
Goldie seeking ( pipes )
When you open one depending how high the flow is, the higher the burst of the flow that means the closer is to the boss pipe, if it's small that means your not near
Giant tornado mode
Use a bomb to make it faster to break the boxes
If possible or playing with friends do this formation
. = Players
_ = how far it is
- = basket placement and golden egg box
-___°___°___°___°-
This way will make it easier to transport ( use the shoot egg basket mechanic by pressing A )
Hope this helps and have a nice day
( I think I break my neck after writing this )
On tip I have is pay attention to small details with weapons
For example, did you know Explosher can kill Flyfish without throwing a single splat bomb?
Learning little tips like this for each weapon can help a lot, like how Dynamo makes rush/glowflies rounds a breeze, E-Liter can instakill most bosses with a full charge, and other small things like this.
Also learn to lure to the basket. It's better to splat bosses like maws or scrappers near the basket so their eggs are quick and easy to grab, rather than splatting then almost immediately after spawning.
Helpful tip!
Slammin’ Lid can kill other bosses by crushing them! Very context sensitive but it’s something
That last tip I didn’t actually catch that that is very useful thank you
another tip is to shoot the things that drizzlers shoot, people really underestimate how much damage enemy ink does and the ink storm damage can stack really quickly
the utter primal rage i felt as i stand in a corner fighting for my life with at least 9 eggs around me desperately spamming this way while my teammates all huddle on the other side of the map and theres 10 second on the clock and all we need are like 3 more eggs and we got round 3 in the bag
I would say big shot should also be a priority besides the stinger, but i would not recommend killing the flyfish unless you’re on a shift with either an explosher or a grizzco sloshing machine (they take down flyfish fast) or you really need the eggs)
imo the best way to deal with the flyfish is to only bomb one of their baskets. that way you only have two flyfish with half of the firepower (so one flyfish really) at any time.
You can easily kill flyfish with explosher (you just have to hit the weakpoints)
Minor note, you can kill a flyfish with a single ink-strike when it's baskets are open
A tip for the slamin lid is if you can get another boss under it, it can kill that boss for you.
Quick tips:
Ya got 6 seconds in the rain, even less time if ya got hit so get out of the drizzler's rain asap.
You can only take 3 of big shots wave hits, less if ya got hit by anything else, even a stray off splash of a flyfish or a bigshot wave
Lure the following to the basket: Dolphins, scrappers, steelhead [if ya got a solid sniper], maws
If distant enemies priority for the following: Flyfish, Bigshot [especially if there's 3 on one Cannon take them out], stingers as they always target a single person who is at the most distance from them
If you see a fish stick, immediately take it out. It limits movement by a significant amount and your long distance boss killer gets a safe perch from most things.
The following can speed run mudmouths and flyfish: Crab Tank, Jetpack, bombs, golden eggs during emergency, explosher
Fly fish in particular: there's actually a specific spot you can aim for that's between the two baskets that would one shot them, though difficult with a bomb and situational, it's very possible with things like explosher
Use your specials if it's going to save your waves 1 and 2.
Leaving stingers alive is like inviting you and your team to a rave party of death
Splat gang. I was in few salmon games and the players would set off their super power at the end like in celebration and then several times we’ve had Cohozuna …smh great tip on the Slamming Lid didn’t know that!!
