To make matters even worse for this poor thing, it might just get overshadowed by Splattershot Nova once it comes out. Here's hoping the Forge kit actually stands out
Also Nova Had Killer Wail 5.1 acording to the Wiki That is a Great Agressive Option for poking the Backliners, And Big Range , definitely i see that one as a Top tier , That could even Counter 52.gal due of His Poor Range , by Kiting it from Far , And Some may run it With Object shredder to Counter Splashwalls
Your content's been getting better and better over the past few months, but this is on a whole other level. Logi did an incredible job on the editing, the script and structure is concise and captivating, and if this is the norm going forward, you're going to be one of the driving forces that exposes people to the competitive scene the most and takes it to new heights. Honestly, you already are. Absolutely outstanding work.

I feel like Pro could really benefit by getting its range increased to something close to what it had in Splatoon 1 Pro in 1 outranged H3 and .96 but was just shy of Jet. With how mediocre/bad most of the mid-long range shooters are in 3 I think this would be a very welcomed buff to add in with the Forge
When I clicked on this video I thought “Oh. It’s because Angle Shooter on vanilla kit. Forge Pro fixes that.” But I never realized the main weapon also had the problem of just not being able to stand out against other shooters. Not that it will impact the Forge Pro’s viability a ton since it being the only shooter besides Aerospray to have Booyah Bomb gives it a fairly big niche, but some small buffs to the weapon would be nice to make it that little bit better.
I will say that I use the Splattershot pro a bunch and having a lot of fun with it. But the thing that kinda kills it for me is the Angle Shooter like it barely does any damage and you have to be super accurate to use it. So I am super excited to get a new Splattershot Pro with a bomb and Booyah bomb!
yea it sucks😭 i would say try using it on like walls or crowded spaces so they bounce off eachother, it doesnt kill but it helps understand to keep some distance or not if it makes sense
Me: "Wait, you all have trouble with angle?!" But no seriously, I actually practiced with angle, and I get a decent acc with it, and I do use the bounce as an advantage and I use the angle to pressure backliners
Still it will render the og kit pretty much useless which is not good. Kits are suposed to be an alternative play style for the weapon, not a fix for the older kit
@@NeverEverWatchThisthat’s true I’m just saying at least the option will be viable, with 1 less frame shooting lag to make it fast but not special spammy is a good idea from chara
I think it'll be fine once it gets the new kit with a good painting bomb and a top tier special. Not amazing, but good enough that I'll use it a lot (instead of basically never because it has Angle Shooter). In case you can't tell, I'm stupid hyped for the Forge kit.
@@stripedrajang3571 I mean, I don’t consider myself a great splatoon player (maybe a little above average?) but the pro goes well with my play style and I usually have a good kill/death ratio. There have just been so many battles where I wish I had a bomb!
@@Chrissyke, yeah. Same here. Sometimes I wish the pro painted a little better, or maybe had a little more range, or maybe killed a little faster. I'm just asking for too much, obviously. 😂
Hot take, but I actually like the Angle Shooter with Splattershot Pro, helped me win fights just knowing where the enemy is when they try to swim around to throw off my aim
Love the editing for the video, makes it a lot more engaging and overall touched up really well especially with the yellow inkling holding Pro in front of the loading screen
Angle shooter buff ideas: Inks feet better. Line stays for a bit longer and it's hitbox is bigger. Each bounce of the line also paints a little, if it hits an enemy their feet will be painted. Marking lasts as long as point sensor, punishing a bit more for passing the line
Everyone says there is no reason to main this weapon, but I play it purely because its fun, although I take the game seriously I use the Splattershot Pro because I feel like even though it’s out classed it can still do very good.
Hey big fan and I wanted to say I love your content. Your explanation are thorough, your skill amazing and the content reflects that. You have also been steadily improving your videos. The more expressive/frequent animations are adorable and the transitions are smooth. Honestly you content is a staple of the Splatoon community and hopefully will stretch even further. 👍
The angle shooter is underrated in utility. It’s actually really easy to tag someone from far away. If you aim towards the ground you’ll reveal sharking enemies you’re approaching. Aiming towards the ground also tags standing enemies with damage even after bouncing off the ground, so you don’t even have to aim it up high. And with sub ink saver you can get 3 angle shooters off in a tank lol. Damage increase to 35 would be nice
It needs a huge buff, but I agree that it is an interesting and cool special right now. It just needs a bigger hitbox on the trail so that you can't just swim under it, and maybe like 3-4x the range so it just bounces around forever (that's what top players have suggested and I think it'd be super fun)
I really think if Angle Shooter got some buffs, hopefully including dealing damage simply by someone walking through it, it could be a cool damage dealer. It could be something that helps compensate any weapon's mediocrity.
As someone who played a lot of Splattershot Pro in 2 (mainly Forge and eventually Kensa), I wasn't too jazzed when it got the angle shooter in 3. That prompted me to try out the .52 gal and I'm loving it so far. It's gonna take a really good kit (fingers crossed for 3 Forge) to sway me back to it.
@@ragequitrome The range on .52 is comparable to the Pro but a bit shorter. The main draw for me is 2 hits to kill and the Splash Wall sub (as it provides some defense/time to figure out what to do next in a scrap).
I really, really enjoyed the video, I hope you'll make more videos like that in the future. I think the reasoning for no Splattershot Pro in competitive play is much more straightforward: 1. Really bad sub (you mentioned this in the video) 2. Because of #1 no Pro Player has made an effort to made and truly dominate with it and show what it is capable of. 3. Metagame - range is less important on shooters, because E-liter is popular. If Splattershot Pro got Burst bomb and Splashomatic got Angle Marker I'm sure we will see more Pros than Splashes. Which IMO softly proves it is not so much about the main weapon. I think in the video you skim over the fact that it has better range. Comparison between regular Splattershot and Pro felt a bit like comparing Rapid and Rapid Pro right now. Yes basic Rapid has better ink, shoots faster, covers more paint, it's all a tradeoff for worse range. And range is clearly valued A LOT by the devs.
I really want the undercover brella to get buffs. I was so excited to see the undercover because when I heard brellas were coming to the game, the undercover is exactly what I wanted them to be and I was very happy about it. I was able to get some enjoyment out of the Kensa kit in 2 but I just want to see it get a better kit and some nice buffs so I can use it more. Brushes will always have my heart but I wanna be able to mix it up with undercover more often and the kit it has right now does not let me get much out of it
I used the Pro kits all the time in S1 and S2 and always found them reliable, even without damage up. But after having played a few series in Anarchy these last few days, it really feels like it's lacking in S3.
Splattershot Pro is by far my favorite weapon in Splatoon, it's really a shame to see it get treated like this. Here's hoping the Forge Kit does it justice and the main weapon gets buffed.
Splattershot Pro's niche is "Squeezer for people whose fingers cramp up easily." The main problem with it is that if you rated every weapon that would be competing for the place of midline then Pro would have 5/10 across the board while most of the weapons would have their lowest scores being a 4/10. It doesn't excel at anything and while everything it is competing with has some aspect that it's weaker at than Pro it's only slightly worse than Pro while the things it is good at it does a fair bit better. (This is specifically talking about the weapon on it's own. Kit-wise it's just bad because angle shooter is terrible but the Forge kit will probably fall into that "jack of all trades master of none" problem)
Once League Battles come out in Drizzle Season, you have to make a team with weapons that are worst or have the worst kits in your eyes. It would make for a good video
Honestly, I always thought this weapon would've been beloved by players who want a more skill oriented playstyle compared to the Splattershot, and I though it was more like a splattershot version Charger of a charger. Honestly, I would like to stick with that concept, being much more of a Frontline with the range and role of a charger and yet you would need to conserve your ink more and preserve Allies position and ink. At least this way it doesn't replace charger, it instead gives it a niche in that it serves as a enemy base backliner, in that its role is to get into the enemy base and spawn camp the opponents. At least with this, I think it could be something that could work?
Line marker could do more damage, like 50-60 and if you pass through the line you take like 10 damage and also still get marked, make it like a mini charger without the charge and halfway.
It makes me so sad seeing pro in 3. I loved using it in 1 and 2. Even tho the vanilla in 2 was more supportive, it fit my poke and pick playstyle, but the angle shooter really doesnt allow for a controlled support. Not to mention the other outclassed aspects that you mentioned. :(
Splattershot pro is actually one of my favorite weapons and i hope angleshooter gets a bigger hitbox more damage or more location revealing time it will make the sub more better or just make if you hit it let it do a explosion or a explosion on both sides (where you are and where angle shooter stops)
I’ve always believed that line marker never should’ve been a sub weapon but what you use the l button for. I know that it’s a lot to get used to, but it makes it more useful if you can have a bomb on top of it rather than just having line marker
I definitely don't like both the line marker and point sensor existing. Point sensor itself is disappointing and then they released a worse spinoff of it. I wonder if there isn't a way to collapse the two together... Like if tapping the button had you shoot out an angle shooter that ended in a the point sensor AOE (with only direct strikes dealing damage) while charging it for a moment switched to a lob mode to get over ledges/obstacles better (still dealing damage on the direct)
At least Undercover Brella fails spectacularly while this poor thing just tends to be forgotten about. I feel like I see this way more often than I should probably because everyone's initial response to this thing is "midliner Splattershot sounds lit". I'd like to believe that most of them can't play the carpal tunnel weapon because I can't think about any other reason to pick this and even ignoring Squeezer there are generally better options. The Gals have a better kill time. H-3 has better accuracy. Dualie Squelchers have better mobility. All of these except for .96 have better strafing speed (why is it still at 0.55 when everyone and their mother is at 0.6?) and all of these paint better.
A lot of really good points brought up in the video. Pro is like my favorite weapon ever right next to Splatterscope, but I will admit it is outclassed by a lot of things. I feel like what really hurts it right now is Angle Shooter. It’s just not good. Damage isn’t worth it, you have to be super accurate with it, and it’s thrown slightly below where you actually want to throw it. It just doesn’t help it in anyway. It would honestly be better off with a point sensor, or hell even sprinkler. And Crab Tank is good for it but it has steep competition with the other weapons with it. I will always love it, but it definitely needs buffs.
Back in S2 I mained Kensa Pro - now it's so much harder to play because of the horrid map design. Arowana Mall and Starfish Mainstage were perfect for pro but now maps like Umami just really screw it up
I'm a Splattershot Pro main in Splat 3. I have no idea why I switched from being a Splash main in 2 which is amazing in both 2 & 3 to drifting into being a Pro main in 3 especially because it currently has a much worse kit. What I can say is the weapon is really fun and I've worked towards being able to play around its weaknesses so I've become so much better while using the Pro than any other weapon since I've gotten so used to it
Personally, splat pro is my favourite shooter main. I know it's an odd choice but i genuinely think the damage output and range it has it extremely good. I wish they buffed the ink efficiency though
I've played the Kpro a lot in Splatoon 2, I was sad that there was no bomb on the Splattershot Pro in Splatoon 3, but I do love Crab Tank. Needless to say, I am looking forward to the Forge coming out. Especially since I do play the pro in a comp setting with my team.
I am a Kensa undercover main from Splatoon 2. I hated undercover when starting splat 3. I now play it regularly. Sub and special are bad for the weapon. Shield is almost useless. However, the main weapon is good at poking and paints well. Once a good kit is out it will be a great support weapon. Main weapon paint and range are why I play it. Everything else will be an added bonus imo.
I actually joined a team that was 2 splattershot pros, a blobber, and my dualie squelchers and we won several ranked matches in a row. I wish I could’ve played with that team for longer bc we were absolutely decimating everyone but my five battles were up eventually 😞
Interestingly enough, being a Pro main since early 2, I’ve been forced to use line marker for s3, but I somehow got to a point where I’m semi-consistently hitting line marker shots? Don’t get me wrong, I would muuuch rather have a bomb on this thing and I’m very excited for forge, but having like marker trained a very weird and perhaps niche skill for me. I’ll also note that I don’t play Splatoon as much as a lot of other serious players for several reasons (but I do play quite a bit) so I was quite surprised to have picked this skill up relatively quickly.
I honestly didn't have much trouble hitting people with it after playing it for like 30 mins, but I dropped it cuz I am obsessed with splatana stamper.
I might end up using the Forge Pro quite a bit. It doesn't need Damage Up so there's room for an IA + LDE kit essentially removing its biggest weaknesses of ink efficiency and mobility (jump accuracy = mobility). I think it would be good to give the weapon a 1.4% per shot too. It's just the right thing to do for a weapon without any major strengths.
I actually main this weapon in Turf War. Sure, I'd probably get destroyed if I used it in S+ ranked games where every player just has a meta weapon, but in Turf War I find it pretty fun, I consistently get 15+ kills with it and win most of my matches. I rarely ever find an use for angle shooter though.
Meanwhile I'm still using the splattershot Jr. Seriously in turf wars this thing is a beast! I actually prefer it over the roller. And it has good kill potential if you stay close and basically shark. Or make for a quick getaway by dolphining into enemy turf. The extra tank size is also quite a noticeable bonus, you can dolphin for miles and not worry about reloading.
I think a part of it is being a bit too similar to squeezer and both squelchers. These four weapons are all mid-high range shooters, and pro happens to be slightly worse than the others at everything. Not sure how to fix it, maybe more efficiency and slightly more damage would be good (also marker could probably use a damage buff or maybe adding a slow debuff to it along with the tracking)
not sure if it's actually new cuz i havent checked out all your recent vids yet, but i'm a big fan of the octo oc expression things throughout the video. it adds just a touch more character to the vid, and topping it off with background gameplay looks really good. keep it up, #1 splatuber :D
The forge having suction bomb is like “great, a bomb” but I’ve found the sub’s high ink cost to be a big problem in the pro. Once you toss the bomb you need to go back in the ink again in just a handful of shots. Unlike the splatershot which honestly a lot of times I just put on a lot of ink saver/recovery clothes and spray and pray with. Suction bombs everywhere.
The number one thing I'm excited for in the new season is my Pro getting a real kit. I don't hate the Angle shooter; if I'm riding the Tower, it's often a great way to support my escorts. But it's only useful about 10% of the time. If they buff it, I'd genuinely consider it as an option. It is kind of frustrating how all of my Splatoon 2 mains are "bad" now. NZap, Splat Roller, Pro, and Blob all got kind of screwed by various changes in 3.
i feel like theres a lot more of your octolings expressions in this vid and its all so cute!! i love lil chara and it brings a lot of personality to the vid w/o having your face in it (which like...whatever makes you the most comfortable is the best thing!!) anyway looking forward to your debut as a low-budget vtuber
What if they gave it perfect ground accuracy instead of pretty good? That way with a bit of intensify action you would have a longer range splash with lower mobility and paint to compensate. Not sayin it wouldn't need more buffs but it would need a lot less since it would already have it's own unique trade
ngl, thought the title said 'Why is Pro Chara consistently awful" and that had me worried but it turns out you were just covering my favorite shooter and that made my day :)
I still think line marker is misunderstood by the comp scene. Especially with the new slosher deco I think it's utility will get realized more because the thing has the same range as an eliter, and it's really not as hard as people make it out to be to hit accurate markers, especially if you're a charger player
sure it has the same range as an e-litre but it'd take 4 of them to splat that e-litre at all, it also makes your position extremely obvious, giving said e-litre a perfect opportunity to delete you from the game as soon as you poke them.
Yep, that too. I really hope they buff the line marker to 35-40 damage, it'd allow it to bridge damage gaps like that far more consistently and bring it a bit further in line with burst bombs.
10/10 video. Excellent editing. Excellent script and good thumbnail. The only thing I could MAYBE improve is the use of ... PNGs here for example 00:49
I’m just so glad the forge came out, it’s my new main weapon, it’s amazing, the kit is amazing, I hated the normal splattershot pro because the kit was horrible and so hard to use.
I personally love the pro, here's what works for me about the kit (keep in mind I am mid-tier in zones and nothing else, so this might not apply at high level play) : The main: I like the 0 RNG laser accurate shots. At the range you get, you can easily target and slay opponents. Obviously this was nerfed by the lack of MPU from 2 but I think anyone who's faced a pro will agree that's a good thing The sub: you can play mind games. Create a trip wire to hold choke points, or tag someone to force them to change their play style entirely. Jumping over a tripwire means you sacrifice a lot of accuracy and make yourself an open target. Even if you tag no-one, you don't need a lot of map knowledge to force the opponents to rethink their tactics. It's an easy way to make things VERY complicated for your opponents The special: GATLING GUN GOOD
Mentioning damage up reminds of a something I though about a while ago. Image if Nintendo says in a trailer... "This gear ability is called Damage Up!" Then they start explaining but then they say... "And this is Main Power Up!" In the they talk about how Damage up and Main Power Up were in Splatoon 1 and 2 and how Main Power Up is gonna return without damage up. I would love to see the reactions!
What’s interesting is that in the first two games, the splattershot pro was consistently high-tier. The first game had the vanilla and the berry kits, the vanilla works decently on splat zones, while the cherry works very well on every other mode, and the forge was a decent training tool for point sensors. In the second game, the vanilla kit was fairly tame, with point sensor and ink storm, but the forge was pretty good with the suction bomb + bubble blower combo, and the kensa was so batsh!t insane that they had to nerf it *and it’s still batsh!t insane.* all these weapons have one thing in common and that’s a kit that compliments the weapon very well, the kensa’s kit was notoriously annoying and the cherry’s was sometimes called the most well-rounded kit in the first game. We’ll have to wait until the next few kits come out for the splattershot pro, but i wouldn’t be surprised if we see a lot more people use the other kits it has.
The splattershot pro is for chargers that are tired of the charger up-close. I used to main chargers, then swapped to Pro, albeit my crab tank training could be improved, and then... I am maining Nova now. Pro... is kind of meant for the main, and then the sub and special is an afterthough.
I don't mind people saying that weapons like Undercover, Pro or Aero are enjoyable to play. Although I DO mind when people make claims that their weapon is overpowered because they had a good day once. By that logic, you should gamble your life savings away *_(don't)_*
Hey Prochara, I love your content, research and knowledge about Splatoon as I feel you do the series justice. However, you are exaggerating with the Splattershot Pro. Sure, the Splattershot has better paint output and mobility, however the Splattershot Pro can outrange many shooters, and with it's 3 hit kill and decent kill time, makes it a good slayer on the battlefield and a threat to many weapons that either can't outrange it or kill as quickly. It is a consistently effective weapon thanks to it's range, damage and accuracy, that can threaten even weapons with an clear advantage over it. Could it use more range, ink efficiency, mobility or paint output? Sure! But just because it doesn't specialize into one role doesn't make it an awful weapon by any means. Not the best by far, but certainly not "awful".
As someone who has been maining Spattershot Pro/Forge Pro since late Splatoon 2 I have noticed how it simply just gets out classed by most weapons. I have even noticed that my team (non competitive we just mess around in Anarchy Open and Splatfests) struggle to play around or make a team comp with a Splattershot Pro/Forge. One can only pray we get the 1 frame faster fire rate and probably more range similar to Splatoon 1
Pro is my favorite weapon and I hardly play anything else. I run it with 3 main gear slots of ink saver main, lmao. without having to worry at all about the ink consumption, this thing can simply rain hell down on your opponents and out-ink any other weapon in the game. I use this to threaten mid-range areas all the time and it works because people are terrified of approaching a Splattershot that seems to never be running out of ink! Also, the "mark" from Angle Shooter is overlooked. It literally nullifies the most meta gear ability in the game right now: Ninja Squid. Effectively removing an opponent's entire gear slot for 5 or so seconds is not to be scoffed at. 2ndly, the 30 damage from Angle Shooter is NOT affected by "sub defense" gear abilities. that ONLY affects the time you are marked. So comparing the damage to Burst Bomb, which DOES decrease with sub defense, is a little short-sighted.
Issues I have this weapon would be it's bad at inking to the point I have to remember to shoot the ground cause it won't paint the ground underneath itself consistently. Other downsides I encountered are ink consumption and angle shooter, ink efficiency is annoying, I can work with it but angle shooter is... I still use it cause I need information somehow when losing. I'd rather have ink mine to catch overextending players more easily, it isn't a good option either, but even something like disruptor gives me an idea of what I can do with it. The only buff I think angle shooter could have that isn't just straight up more damage would be to reduce the ink cost even more because I have no clue what's the point of this thing being a worse point sensor that tags players for about 3 seconds before fading away if it wasn't a direct hit. I'm not sure why does the squelcher have this either, but I think it the ink cost feels much for how little it does despite how low it already is, I really don't think this thing should exist when point sensor does a much better job. This weapon carried me after having a loss streak in S rank with the JR and being constantly caught out in mid range with the splattershot. I'd still get caught if I have no area to go with the pro, but I can at least advance slowly till I encounter weapons that outrange me, eliters, hydra, sqeulcher. I can still catch them, but need area first.
4:27 Thank you for the compliment. Whenever I use splattershot pro I'm able to consistently hit people directly with line marker. Even though I'm pretty decent with vanilla pro, I am very excited for the Forge pro. It's gonna be a menace on tower control
As a pro main I genuinely forget I have a sub weapon just because of how useless line marker is(line marker should be the English name btw) but seriously here if they boost the fire rate it would make it so much fun and the worse ink efficiency would be fine with me because if it gets better at everything it has to be weak in some area anyways so yeah, my thoughts on that after 4-staring it in the first week I got splatoon
EXACTLY. I see splattershot pro as a good weapon for pushing but I would classificate that as a support weapon, not an agressive one like dualies that have a short range but they have the best mobility. The fact that they made the kit with crab tank is just so bad that is actually making the main weapon more useless that it is bc crab tank has the best shooting range among the shooting weapon, that's just making look splattershot pro a nerfed version of crab tank which still a good concept but it's not the best for helping the meta. In my opinion the devs should push on making the best splattershot pro as a support weapon with a good range making this kit. Sub weapon: splat bomb for short range battle Special weapon: tacticooler (the best support special giving many abilities such as ink "reloading" to heal the ink efficiency of splattershot pro). Sorry for my bad english, I hope u will like this comment, this is one of my dream weapon combo.
I really think the Angle Shooter could be so much better with just a damage boost and a tweak. I've seen a lot of people say it should be treated a lot more like a 'trip wire' of sorts, that'd be even if you don't directly hit the enemy, you still do damage to them. And as for the damage buff, I definitely think AS would be great on weapons that go with the range or close the distance on mid range ones, plus it'll help scope the enemy team out. Granted, not as good as a regular Point Sensor could but regardless. Let's say instead of 30 damage on a direct hit, it's... 50? Maybe 60? Now I know that sounds like a lot, but that's on direct hit only, it rewards you for caring to be accurate with it, and for being annoying from a distance. If they pass through it normally, not only does it mark them, it does the 30 damage from base AS direct hit, although considering the wall bounce aspect of it, that possibly could go lower because of the low ink consumption and spam ability of it for balance reasons. I really think that could make the AS a lot more viable, but I understand that all of what I just said would probably make it a little too good or annoying of a sub or something. We can all dream though.
I main the splatershot pro for RANKED mode, I know it doesn’t turf very well. But in almost every mode for ranked, the range and damage is perfect (imo) but obviously for turf battles, it’s not very good. I just feel like it needs a better kit but imo it’s not TERRIBLE. Just needs a slight rework
Splattershot Pro may be a mid-low main weapon, but I mained Forge Pro in 2 and I love it even more in 3. Suction+Booyah is awesome and I feel it’s more balanced than Bubble Blower, and yet it still manages to be versatile. I’d say the main problem with Pro is that it’s very ink hungry, but it is also rather consistent at range. Even with damage fall off, it’s still a 3 shot kill outside of its optimal range. I think everyone sleeps on Pro, but I understand that it probably won’t break into the meta unless it receives some buffs.
Idk if they'll change much. I love the pro and would love it to be good and used more, but.. maybe I'm just being hard headed here but idk if it ever will be, even with buffs. Other shooters are just too good or other weapons play its role better and always will
Wow surprised by this take. Never knew it was considered underwhelming in top top play. This is one of the weapons that I don't use, but when I do use it gets a ton of kills. I think it farts on jet squelch.
I remember people saying that the Kensa Splattershot Pro was one of the best weapons in Splatoon 2 I already mained it when I saw a video about how to be good with it, I grinded for the Main Power Up quirck and actually got a jacket full of those, and I was an absolute beast on 2 with my Kensa Splattershot Pro, that made it my favourite weapon ever The lack of MPU on this game, and the awful kit the initial pro has really hurted me a lot, I hope the Pro coming on the new version can redeem my good old days, tho I might need some buffs to compensate the lack of MPU in this game ... I need MPU back, I need to cause terror again with my Splattershot Pro and dominate Tower Control (Tho I dominated Tower Control one day with this shitty Splattershot Pro, so maybe the new one can actually give me a fun time)
Thank God the Forge one sort of fixed it. It's still a ink guzzler but with some abilities and some practice, it's great for Anarchy battles (specifically I used it for Tower Control and got over 21 kills with it)
Huh, never would've guessed Splattershot Pro had this reputation. It's by far one of my best and favorite weapons. Though I don't know how to use line marker effectively at all. :P Kinda reminds me of the Smash Bros tier list conversation. Like, Zero Suit Samus is high tier, but the individual simply might not "click" with her the way they do King K Rool. Maybe their personal potential is in a lower tier character. For that reason, I think tier lists should act as a starting point rather than the sole justification for one's character/weapon of choice. Of course the big difference is that Splatoon's team composition also plays a part in weapon tier. Anyway, great analysis as always Chara!
I’ve been a Splat Pro player since Splatoon 1, even when I got it before knowing anything about ranked or competitive and was a little baby B-. I still use it in Splatoon 3 in S+6, but I often find myself swapping to something else that paints better, shoots faster, or has better mobility. Specifically the Dualie Squelchers. I wish this weapon was better, and I’m glad it’s getting a step in the right direction in the form of its improved kit, but it does feel underwhelming.
i main spro, when it got line marker,i practically never used it until i got 5 star later on,all it did was track down people and finish off people,i can’t wait for forge to give more painting output, but it really all comes down to playstyle
How should the main weapon be fix with the weapon becoming overpowered? I know how angle shooter and toxic mist should be (increase damage and more drastic effects similar to disruptor) but I do not know what to do for the weapon itself without making another weapon useless as a result.
Honestly I really liked Splattershot Pro in this game and I didn't pick the ones of Splatoon 2, playing the premiere I decided to use Pro but because of those problems I don't have a reason to use it just for casually play the Anarchy Open matches. I would really like a buff to that weapon
I was baffled in Splatoon 3 when I saw how bad the angle shooter was and that the Jet Squelcher had it, it made me go "welp guess I'll be using the Pro instead" just for me to see that it ALSO had angle shooter and I was just dumbfounded on why they gave both shooters with similar ranges the same sub in their launch kits. Seriously though, why did they have to make Angle so bad?
Part of it also comes down to personal preference and play style. My personal worst weapon is probably the .96 or hydra because I'm bad at managing my ink tank.
To make matters even worse for this poor thing, it might just get overshadowed by Splattershot Nova once it comes out. Here's hoping the Forge kit actually stands out
Nova splattershot is meh
From what I can tell in the trailer Nova is a 4 or 5 shot kill + nova has point sensor + it is more of a long range jr or spray than a long range pro.
Forge is gonna have suction and booyah. I’ll be surprised if it’s not amazing.
@@NeverEverWatchThisyea but main weapon still looks better
I feel like Pro could really benefit by getting its range increased to something close to what it had in Splatoon 1
Pro in 1 outranged H3 and .96 but was just shy of Jet. With how mediocre/bad most of the mid-long range shooters are in 3 I think this would be a very welcomed buff to add in with the Forge
Wow. Close to jet squelchers in part 1? That's insane.
@@stripedrajang3571 i didn't even know pro had more range in 1 til i read this comment
I can see this happen. Maybe a bit more damage on top?
Yeah It had 8% more range
@@unl3ash3d95, I didn't either. I never played part 1.
I’m a pro main and have gotten exactly one splat with the angle shooter
@@Chrissyke I got like under 10 kills with it maybe like 5
Same here, that sub is just so situational.
yea it sucks😭 i would say try using it on like walls or crowded spaces so they bounce off eachother, it doesnt kill but it helps understand to keep some distance or not if it makes sense
Me: "Wait, you all have trouble with angle?!"
But no seriously, I actually practiced with angle, and I get a decent acc with it, and I do use the bounce as an advantage and I use the angle to pressure backliners
I really do believe that forge pros kits might make it a viable option if it gets a bit of a buff or if you run ink saver

If you wanted to do said thing, you could’ve just use Nautilus or Explosher
but what if I want to use a shooter?
Still, angle shooter just feels like worse/ harder to use more situational point sensor, which is why I dislike it as a sub.
Love the editing for the video, makes it a lot more engaging and overall touched up really well especially with the yellow inkling holding Pro in front of the loading screen
I like the animations! Nice to see a the drawings I've seen for a few months have even more life into them.
Angle shooter buff ideas:
Inks feet better. Line stays for a bit longer and it's hitbox is bigger. Each bounce of the line also paints a little, if it hits an enemy their feet will be painted. Marking lasts as long as point sensor, punishing a bit more for passing the line
Angle shooter is just ....trash! It is nothing but a point senor
I would make tripping on the wite deal damage too to make it better at zoning
Everyone says there is no reason to main this weapon, but I play it purely because its fun, although I take the game seriously I use the Splattershot Pro because I feel like even though it’s out classed it can still do very good.
Props to Logi for the bomb editing on this! Good content as always!
Agree, amazing editing.
thank you
The angle shooter is underrated in utility.
It just needs a bigger hitbox on the trail so that you can't just swim under it, and maybe like 3-4x the range so it just bounces around forever (that's what top players have suggested and I think it'd be super fun)
i love the quality increase of editing in this video, its super visually appealing and i hope the rest of your videos do this too
I really think if Angle Shooter got some buffs, hopefully including dealing damage simply by someone walking through it, it could be a cool damage dealer.
Does the 52 have more range than the pro?
@@ragequitrome The range on .52 is comparable to the Pro but a bit shorter. The main draw for me is 2 hits to kill and the Splash Wall sub (as it provides some defense/time to figure out what to do next in a scrap).
@@redxparasite gotcha, might have to give it a shot
I really, really enjoyed the video, I hope you'll make more videos like that in the future.
I think the reasoning for no Splattershot Pro in competitive play is much more straightforward:
1. Really bad sub (you mentioned this in the video)

6:18 "since it'll have 200p or maybe even lower, that'll help with it's special output a lot" yeah.... 200p.... *Sigh*
Yeah about that

i always hated playing with this, and now i understand why!! thank you for voicing all of the frustrations i didnt realize i was having

@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 Oh lol. Mixed something up then 😅. I mean when Leage Battles come to Splatoon 3 eventually
I love the way you did "Future Chara", good job editor!
I love Splattershot Pro!

Ich Mained the Weapon
It makes me so sad seeing pro in 3. I loved using it in 1 and 2. Even tho the vanilla in 2 was more supportive, it fit my poke and pick playstyle, but the angle shooter really doesnt allow for a controlled support. Not to mention the other outclassed aspects that you mentioned. :(
Dang, production quality feels so much higher in this video! I mean, they're all damn great, but this feels a bit different? Love it!
Editing is actually insane in this vid yall popped off wtf
6:20 Ouch, that did not age well.
Nintendo making it 210, not nerfing the crab and making the absolute most dogshit maps.
@@yourboi5492 why are we giving them money again? Welp gonna go back to playing tears of the kingdom
Arowana Mall and Starfish Mainstage were perfect for pro but now maps like Umami just really screw it up
The production on this video is insane! Keep it up!
Like the editing and production improvements in your vids
Wow, the editing looks clean! Great work!
Here after splattershot pro got buffed
The forge having suction bomb is like “great, a bomb” but I’ve found the sub’s high ink cost to be a big problem in the pro. Once you toss the bomb you need to go back in the ink again in just a handful of shots. Unlike the splatershot which honestly a lot of times I just put on a lot of ink saver/recovery clothes and spray and pray with. Suction bombs everywhere.
the editing on this one is actually crazy its so good
Good video!
NZap, Splat Roller, Pro, and Blob all got kind of screwed by various changes in 3.
i feel like theres a lot more of your octolings expressions in this vid and its all so cute!! i love lil chara and it brings a lot of personality to the vid w/o having your face in it (which like...whatever makes you the most comfortable is the best thing!!)
anyway looking forward to your debut as a low-budget vtuber
What if they gave it perfect ground accuracy instead of pretty good? That way with a bit of intensify action you would have a longer range splash with lower mobility and paint to compensate. Not sayin it wouldn't need more buffs but it would need a lot less since it would already have it's own unique trade
Not unique because Squeezer also has that trait but as a supporter of avoiding RNG as a way to balance weapons I'm in favor of this.
ngl, thought the title said 'Why is Pro Chara consistently awful" and that had me worried but it turns out you were just covering my favorite shooter and that made my day :)
@@MinoriGaming Good players also have much better movement, but the main issue bucket deco has is 1 sub sub defense breaks the combo it has
Yep, that too.
DANG really informative video and amazing editing!
I personally love the pro, here's what works for me about the kit (keep in mind I am mid-tier in zones and nothing else, so this might not apply at high level play) :
The main: I like the 0 RNG laser accurate shots. At the range you get, you can easily target and slay opponents. Obviously this was nerfed by the lack of MPU from 2 but I think anyone who's faced a pro will agree that's a good thing
The sub: you can play mind games. It's an easy way to make things VERY complicated for your opponents
The special: GATLING GUN GOOD
Mentioning damage up reminds of a something I though about a while ago.
Image if Nintendo says in a trailer...
"This gear ability is called Damage Up!"
Then they start explaining but then they say...
"And this is Main Power Up!"
In the they talk about how Damage up and Main Power Up were in Splatoon 1 and 2 and how Main Power Up is gonna return without damage up.
Splatoon 1 Splattershot Pro outranged the H3 and 96 Gal.
I love playing the angle, shooter casually but I know not having a bomb can be detrimental to a lot of weapons. I'd love a damage buff on it tbh.
Sub weapon: splat bomb for short range battle
Special weapon: tacticooler (the best support special giving many abilities such as ink "reloading" to heal the ink efficiency of splattershot pro).
Sorry for my bad english, I hope u will like this comment, this is one of my dream weapon combo.
As someone who loved playing Pro in past games despite its flaws, I’m really glad this vid exists. It just sucks in 3
I really think the Angle Shooter could be so much better with just a damage boost and a tweak.
I remember people saying that the Kensa Splattershot Pro was one of the best weapons in Splatoon 2
I already mained it when I saw a video about how to be good with it, I grinded for the Main Power Up quirck and actually got a jacket full of those, and I was an absolute beast on 2 with my Kensa Splattershot Pro, that made it my favourite weapon ever
The lack of MPU on this game, and the awful kit the initial pro has really hurted me a lot, I hope the Pro coming on the new version can redeem my good old days, tho I might need some buffs to compensate the lack of MPU in this game
... I need MPU back, I need to cause terror again with my Splattershot Pro and dominate Tower Control
(Tho I dominated Tower Control one day with this shitty Splattershot Pro, so maybe the new one can actually give me a fun time)
Thank God the Forge one sort of fixed it.
Kinda reminds me of the Smash Bros tier list conversation.
Ok random question is the golden areospray actually limited time? Cause if so I'm grinding for it once update drops
Wait, how did you disable the ui at 2:17? Or is this modded
Somewhat off topic question. But what do you think about jet squelcher?
