It forces opponents to move, allowing you to know where they are moving to, or damage them so that the main can secure the kill more easily. Also a good defensive tool for the reason stated in the latter.
Big bubbler is insane on TC and Clams. Placing it on tower or right next to the basket just gives so much cover to allow you to score and on TC it can just cover the whole tower. Also congrats on 70k!

@@samuelstephens6904 that makes sense. I just think it would be super fun to try using zip caster squiffer since you could zip up to a tall tower and then fully charge in the air and land on someone with a full charge
Reefslider is a bit underwhelming. It is quite easily avoidable, though can sometimes reach unexpected places and get that multi-splat. + it leaves you vulnerable. The starting time and length of invincibility frames make it not work too well as a panic button either. And tbh maybe it shouldn't be, but a buffing idea I had is being able to perform a squid roll to any direction after you have completed your special. It would make it a bit more dangerous and less vulnerable
it’s definitely weak when not used right, i saw a video on twitter of someone squid rolling out of it and it gives you enough armour to not die from the explosion. it’s also really easy to punish since you can see where they’re going
Something I've found with the Splatana Stamper is that the Zipcaster can be a great ink recovery tool. I tend to be aggressive with my ink at the start of turf wars, and it can be really powerful to empty my tank, refill by popping zipcaster, and then refill again once it ends and jumps me back to where I used it. It's really nice.
i'd argue that Wave crasher is support aggro, as you ALWAYS want to use it during a fight. Just tossing it out at the right moment causes the enemy to focus on a LOT more then just you and just getting hit by it is enough to get splatted.
and subscribed, just of this one video. You have the energy to go through every special without it being boring or have to insert a ton of memes. Good stuff!
Something that I've found with tacticooler is that it can be used as an obstacle. Its not a great one but it blocks shots and stops you from walking through
Seriously looking forward to when there's more weapon variants and more flexibility to play a weapon that has a special you want. I like a lot of the kits in the game right now but most of my favorite specials are locked into weapons I don't particularly enjoy. Roller or shooter with Ink Storm, that's all I ask. I don't care if it's not a good match, spamming clouds makes my brain happy.
Tip for crab tank: sort of like the thing where you hold the bomb to turn around in swim form, you can turn around quickly by just going in dome form and getting back into the normal form
As funny as it sounds the only aggressive special here, I enjoy using is Boohyeah bomb. I more often get the most value out of displacement specials since I like the balance of having utility with aiding huge pushes which I think is the most satisfying way to use a special I also find that they can be just as useful one on one and are more likely to win a game. TLDR, I like my special to be a win condition not just a way to get a few splats.
One fascinating application of the Triple Inkstrike that I am excited to see explored, is staggering the bombs for prolonged denial of a single area such as a choke point or a splat zone. I have no ability to analyze the usefulness of this, but I so hope to see it done.
This is a great video alot of people need to see. There are alot of folks that font understand the purpose of their special, & when & where to use them. Great video Chara
crab tips, one the crab is vulnerable from behind and above meaning missiles and anyone who sneaks behind will kill you easily, but you can turn into ball form to become invulnerable and rolling into opponents to scare them and get out of aggro. Also the tank main shoot has a range that can outmatch the squelcher and will be more effective against inkchargers if you attack from higher up so you don't get sniped from the front.
If you're playing Salmon Run, the Wave Breaker is a great way to revive teammates if you're getting swarmed. In fact, I think it can even revive the whole crew if everyone gets wiped but there's a WB out
Thanks for making this! Mostly I can figure out special stuff on my own since I've been playing Splatoon games a long time but there's definitely some new angles I hadn't thought of yet so thanks!
Trizooka to me is a displacement/ aggro, its amazing on some maps like hammerhead bridge because if you have some pesky hydra splatlings camping in one area you can shoot it at the and get them off and for aggro you already explained that
Whenever I'm using octobrush, I love to use the zipcaster as a displacement and a distraction. Getting close enough to the enemies so they engage with me and allowing an opening so my teammates can advance is so good, especially with jumping back to the backline if things don't go to plan.
An interesting application of crab tank that I experienced was it being a distraction. The enemies were all focused on me until one of them got murked.
6:55 Pro tip, put the wave breaker behind cover/a small wall or even just a little behind where you’re holding and as long as it’s on level terrain it’ll still work. The enemies can’t destroy it as easily and they won’t know it’s there until it’s too late. I’ve gotten a lot of splats with that tactic.
I use big bubbler the most and I think it can definitely be really good in anarchy battles because you can support the team in any of them and I think it's especially good in tower control. I guess i'm not in the popular group of aggro but that's fine
The Crab Tank could also be used as suppressing fire on narrow or populated areas usually to buy time for your teammates to back you up if you're the kind of person who isn't exactly optimistic with your aim.
the wave breaker is actually super helpful as someone who plays tower control religiously, today i watched someone die to wave breaker as they spent the whole time trying to break it instead of jump.
personally i'd add the fourth category, area denial. it's similar to displacement except instead of removing enemies from a distance to get in, it helps to maintain areas that you're already in. this is stuff like bubbler, inkvac, and wavebreaker. however i also consider booyah bomb and ink storm to be in the displacement/area denial hybrid group. booyah bomb because of the fact that you can hold it in the air to stall them out from entering certain areas for awhile, and also because of the armor. ink storm because it moves slowly, so i didn't really know which one it fell into better, so i just made it both. before i just had just the 3 categories of displacement, aggressive, and area denial with tacticooler just being its own category. but i like the support category too. i just personally think it might not be specific enough. but this video made me rethink how i might categorize them later on. i think i'll do 4 instead and there'll just be some overlap.
Big bubbler is also useful if you're team is stuck at a choke point. Just pop it open at the choke, and it can provide enough time and cover for your team mate to get through it and engage the enemy team better
I absolutely love Wave Breaker on Heavy Splatling. Heavy already likes to hold an area down for the team and Wave Breaker makes it even better at doing so, the displacement helps Heavy and the team get into an area too. Wish I got a better sub than Sprinkler tho
I think one change that would help sprinkler do its intended job without being broken op is if the sprinkler lingered after dying, it would continue to help maintain turf control after you die but the decay would prevent situations like saltspray rig sprinklers
As a splash main going into the ball form is the most helpful thing for crab it reset the aim and it works as a baller dealing slight touch damage and you can even hold a power clam and just straight up roll it to the enemy basket you wont lose the clam
Hi Chara! i just want to say congrats on the big recent growth you've had over the past month, keep up the good content, i maay not have S3 (at the time of this comment) but i still enjoy watching your vids!
i was really hoping for a more in depth guide on all the specfic specials, for example, i use the sploosh so i have to use an ultra stamp. In the earlier levels when i was just starting it felt super op and was very easy to use and get lots of kills with, but as i leveled up this quickly became way less viable, and just resulted in me dying very quickly before even managing to get a kill, because people will just manage to dodge me and shoot me from the side or even front. leading me now to basically just throwing the stamp immediately as soon as i get it because im scared of charging in since itll usually just result in me dying immediately, especially because of how long it takes to deploy, and how slow the turning is (yes i know you can use squid form to turn a bit faster but its still extremely slow) and i only use it the 'way youre supposed to' anymore if im in an absolutely foolproof situation where theres at least only two or less enemies, or im willing so basically sacrifice myself for the sake of clearing the path for a rainmaker or power clam
As for the Support Specials; I think Tacticooler is awesome, not just because I have a “Coca-Cola Espumante” running joke through my whole channel. I love using it when I play N’zap. I honestly didn’t know what the point was for Ink Vac. I even made a drawing post saying it was useless, since you’re fully vulnerable in between the sucking and throwing(and because most enemies know to stop shooting to weaken the explosion). But now knowing it’s for supporting a teammate that can also protect you from being splatted right before the shot, I understand it a bit more now. Feel free to ask me my thoughts on any others(or mains or subs, I’d love to talk in general). I’m not a competitive player but I still love the game and have been playing since Splatoon 1.
My ideal playstyle in pretty much any game with defined roles seems to be an aggressive-support hybrid that’s aggressive but not necessarily confrontational. If Splatoon had a ‘Healer’ or ‘lifesteal’ mechanic then I’d be on that along with Ninja Squid gear and Ink Mines. I’m all about the PvP mind-games and surprising my opponents when possible, mostly because it’s hilarious
A good use for tacticooler is that you can just use it as a shield, since it completely blocks you and your enemies's ink, just watch out for bombs since those can still be slid under. But if you're in a bit of a pickle with a few enemies in front of you, drop a cooler and enjoy the buffs PLUS the enemies having a tougher time hitting you!
As an avid user of the Heavy Splatling, the Wavebreaker is a godsend. Just like Heavy in TF2, playing with splatlings is an exercise in paranoia, so it's nice to have a tool to bust out when I feel like somebody's about to get the jump on me when I'm trying to hold a position.
That new pencil charger I can see getting zipcaster as a second kit. It's a charger that actually looks like it could use zipcaster to a non-trolling amount of benefit if it allows you to use the special after completing a charge. That being said, I still hope Squiffer gets it too.
I use the ultra stamp as a way to not only kill but ink the other sides turf when there’s not a lot of time left You cover a lot of ground when u move that fast and it’s saved my team from loosing tons of times
I feel like Ink Jet is a bit of a hybrid of all three if only because without Ink Armor playing aggressively with it is far easier to punish. It acts as aggressive, obviously, but it's decent range and splash damage makes it better for providing covering fire for your team, displacing anchors and weakening midline fighters so your team can pick them off.
I'm surprised you didn't also put missile in aggro with how dangerous its splash damage is now with no bdDX and how easy it is to be hit by other missles if too close to teammates
The crab tank is placed wrong. It can also be effectively used as displacement. If you activate it at a range you can force the opponent farther back giving your teammates time to turf or get to you. I personally tend to do area denial with it because it is a safer and more useful ting for me to do. Also the glairing forehead is punished if you are to close. I've used it aggressively but I get more bang for my buck supporting the team with it instead.
I feel like I haven't seen enough people mention this: The Crab Tank and it's user have separate health pools. If you manage to get behind a crab tank unseen, shoot the person, not the tank.
I used to have a Aggro special in splatoon 2 but since the weapon I mained isn't in Splatoon three, I use another variant which is a support so it took a little while to get used to it
I either use hammer as a displaser cuz all the chargers I've encountered were not ready when I threw the hammer at then .or just to charge down heavy hitting opponents like the splatling I always see in rainmaker.
I'm the Octobrush Main who likes running into enemy bases, and then when they try splatting me I Zipcast away. Like that special's inktastic. And then I splat everyone as they try to splat me. For eel the Zipcaster is epic. SPIDERMAAAAN!!!!
you forgot to mention how ink vac can counter specials, it can suck up a full barrage of tenta missiles, almost nullify reefslider, its only weakness is melee attacks honestly, rollers and ultra stamp. idk if it can suck up a booyah bomb, maybe?

it’s definitely weak when not used right, i saw a video on twitter of someone squid rolling out of it and it gives you enough armour to not die from the explosion. it’s also really easy to punish since you can see where they’re going
It would be interesting if having "drop roller" equipped allowed you to dodge out like the inkjet and zipcaster
The fact the Big Bubbler also serves as a beakon is an underrated feature.
I personally love using the crab tank as an area-denial tool. It's great at it!
I never thought I'd see a bot disguised as Chara but here we are I guess.
i'd argue that Wave crasher is support aggro, as you ALWAYS want to use it during a fight. Just tossing it out at the right moment causes the enemy to focus on a LOT more then just you and just getting hit by it is enough to get splatted.
I find the timing pretty easy, but when people throw them down on the other side of a wall I'm hiding behind is when I start to have problems
crab tank good
Reef slider good
Rain good
Good
and subscribed, just of this one video. You have the energy to go through every special without it being boring or have to insert a ton of memes. Good stuff!
Something that I've found with tacticooler is that it can be used as an obstacle. Its not a great one but it blocks shots and stops you from walking through
Am I the only one that loves ink storm, it’s great for splat zones and clam blitz, and is just so cool to watch
Nah man me too. I honestly find myself missing the splat2 dualie squelchers kit for splat zones specifically.
The crazy thing is we know they're gonna make new specials later and there are already 15. Anarchy and chaos indeed.
I would love to see zipcaster on mid/long range weapons. I think a squiffer with zipcaster would be a lot of fun.
Was mentioned in the video.
Great video Chara
i dont feel ive been using crab tank to its full potential, hope this helps!
inb4 “ultra stamp: die pathetically” and “tenta missiles: remove fun”
crab tips, one the crab is vulnerable from behind and above meaning missiles and anyone who sneaks behind will kill you easily, but you can turn into ball form to become invulnerable and rolling into opponents to scare them and get out of aggro.
Congrats on 70k Chara. Wow. You have been doing great these past couple weeks. Keep it up
Pretty great guide dude. At last, someone doesn't think Zipcaster is bad.
The crab tank is very good at defending, especially in tight areas, and it moves faster side to side
Brooooo. I main splat dualies which have crab tank (if you didn’t know) abd i had no idea they had a second firing mode 😂. This vid is awesome!
I’ve gotten a lot of splats with that tactic.
my mom said that i was special.
You actually can make the crab tank go faster by side walking with it or using its baller form to turn around quickly
the wave breaker is actually super helpful as someone who plays tower control religiously, today i watched someone die to wave breaker as they spent the whole time trying to break it instead of jump.
I didn’t expect to see an ANS clip in a Splatoon video… fun to see my two fav shooters together somehow lol
personally i'd add the fourth category, area denial. it's similar to displacement except instead of removing enemies from a distance to get in, it helps to maintain areas that you're already in. this is stuff like bubbler, inkvac, and wavebreaker. however i also consider booyah bomb and ink storm to be in the displacement/area denial hybrid group. booyah bomb because of the fact that you can hold it in the air to stall them out from entering certain areas for awhile, and also because of the armor. ink storm because it moves slowly, so i didn't really know which one it fell into better, so i just made it both. before i just had just the 3 categories of displacement, aggressive, and area denial with tacticooler just being its own category. but i like the support category too. i just personally think it might not be specific enough. but this video made me rethink how i might categorize them later on. i think i'll do 4 instead and there'll just be some overlap.
@@squidfan6187 oh I like that idea!
I also wish it had just a bit more health to be a better decoy/shield
Splash Wall and Wavebreaker would’ve been amazing
I can definitely imagine an insane squiffer kit with burst bomb and zipcaster, especially with no in-air charge penalty
As a splash main going into the ball form is the most helpful thing for crab it reset the aim and it works as a baller dealing slight touch damage and you can even hold a power clam and just straight up roll it to the enemy basket you wont lose the clam
Hi Chara! i just want to say congrats on the big recent growth you've had over the past month, keep up the good content, i maay not have S3 (at the time of this comment) but i still enjoy watching your vids!
i was really hoping for a more in depth guide on all the specfic specials, for example, i use the sploosh
so i have to use an ultra stamp.
In the earlier levels when i was just starting it felt super op and was very easy to use and get lots of kills with, but as i leveled up
this quickly became way less viable, and just resulted in me dying very quickly before even managing to get a kill, because people will just manage to dodge
me and shoot me from the side or even front.
leading me now to basically just throwing the stamp immediately as soon as i get it because im scared of charging in since itll usually just result in me dying immediately,
especially because of how long it takes to deploy, and how slow the turning is (yes i know you can use squid form to turn a bit faster but its still extremely slow)
and i only use it the 'way youre supposed to' anymore if im in an absolutely foolproof situation where theres at least only two or less enemies, or im willing so basically sacrifice myself for the sake of clearing the path for a rainmaker or power clam
Crab tank moves faster when going sideways actually because it’s a crab
Also going into ball lets you turn faster but ofc you can't fire during that
Squiffer NEEEDS Zipcaster if they plan to do a SquiddoMaker set. That and toxic mist would make it perfect.
As for the Support Specials;
I think Tacticooler is awesome, not just because I have a “Coca-Cola Espumante” running joke through my whole channel.
Amazing job man!
What a great idea yet another ProChara Banger
as a dsquelch main who's still getting used to wavebreaker, this actually helps a lot
This is just an Ink Vac appreciation post. I love Ink Vac so much
Squiffer with zip caster
I use the ultra stamp as a way to not only kill but ink the other sides turf when there’s not a lot of time left
You cover a lot of ground when u move that fast and it’s saved my team from loosing tons of times
Dude it’s crazy how Splatoon 3 at LAUNCH has more specials than both of the other games (I think combined it would be more but hey prove me wrong)
1/3 of them are from splat 2 tho....
@@mollypercocets9190 Still though, it’s a LOT of specials and there’s even more to come (I hope so at least)
I'm surprised you didn't also put missile in aggro with how dangerous its splash damage is now with no bdDX and how easy it is to be hit by other missles if too close to teammates
Watching this made me miss the fun of becoming a kraken in the first game and hunting down those frontline boys
I feel like I haven't seen enough people mention this:
The Crab Tank and it's user have separate health pools. If you manage to get behind a crab tank unseen, shoot the person, not the tank.
Thanks for this guide, I need see this cuz I never had splatoon game, don't have Wii U either switch
Vac is my favorite, I love it when I can protect my teammates as they push
The tacticooler can also work as some kind of shield since it's hit box cancels ink shots
I used to have a Aggro special in splatoon 2 but since the weapon I mained isn't in Splatoon three, I use another variant which is a support so it took a little while to get used to it
wavebreaker tip! try to set it up in a spot like behind a wall or barrier where enemies dont have a clear line of fire to break it (^:
This is more like a ven diagram than a chart
You forgot to mention the bubble shield refills your ink too
Don't forget about the 9/23/21 direct where they showed off zipcaster with a splash-o-matic
I really wish that my teammates wouldn't use a killer wail the minute they get one, instead i go after the closest target and charge them.
it’s hard to know when to use it, as a tri-stringer player advancing isn’t something the weapon does well
Funny you assume 52 players are thinking that hard while playing that weapon
squiffer with zipcaster would be nuts
you forgot to mention how ink vac can counter specials, it can suck up a full barrage of tenta missiles, almost nullify reefslider, its only weakness is melee attacks honestly, rollers and ultra stamp.
idk if it can suck up a booyah bomb, maybe?
As a roller player my favorite activity is crushing crab tanks
Congrats on 70k subs :)
