Updates: As of Patch 2.1, 13. RP doesn't affect Tacticooler anymore 18. Most Likely Triple Inkstrike does paint more, but I haven't tested it so I'm not sure. 38. It is more fixed. :) 40. While it still doesn't cancel it out still, it should less mitigated now due to NS now stacks back. I will try my best to add updates/edits as other patches come out but I hope this helps with the myths as the game continues to be updated.
0:25 I understand why this myth exists, and that's largely due to one hero mode level where you have to fight a bunch of Octo Discos (basically big bubbler as an enemy). At the end of said level, the game gives you a Trizooka, which does one shot the Octo Discos if shot straight into them. This would logically lead to the assumption that the big bubbler would act the same
Ive found that weapons in the pve modes are usually stronger than in pvp, for example, the splatana stamper normally does about 200 damage for its point blank charge hit, but in salmon run it does 400. And it feels to be just as powerful in story mode, but I'm not sure how to confirm that
@@AmalgamJiena from what I'm aware of, Hero mode weapons deal the same damage as in the base game, with Octolings in particular dying as fast as a regular player to the weapons you're allowed to bring in to the levels they appear in (Splatana Stamper's charged projectiles for example is still a 2 shot kill against them unless they're hit by a splat bomb or you get the point blank connect. Salmon run weapon damage is generally much higher than in regular matches, but that's usually so that certain weapons are better equipped for taking out Salmonids than they would be other wise. Most Shooters, Duelies, Splatlings, and Brushes do the same damage they do in normal matches, while Rollers, Chargers, Sloshers, Brellas, Blasters, Stringers, and Splatanas, and most specials get damage boosts to help give them more of a niche in the mode
If a second one gets made, help me confirm something I think happened to me once, which relates to the 50th point: I think I got locked onto by missiles in spawn. I super jumped into the map, none of my teammates were still around, and I immediately started taking fire from missiles, dying immediately.
Not really, you could just strafe to the side a little and still hit the target, the difference in height is negligible and arguably if you're shorter you'll hide better. But you can claim to be the tallest in your team, so that's something. XD
I think it's nice because my horizontal roller flicks might be able to reach a bit higher. Comes at the cost of visibility, but I think it does have combat implications.
4:02 Now imagine if Nintendo actually gave this thing access to Run Speed Up. Consider for a moment it’s absolutely insane base strafing speed. And now imagine that thing being juiced up as much as a splatling.
2 story related myths 1: Captain 3 will change appearance based on how they look in your Octo Expansion file 2: The octolings in After Alterna will always use their special if they have one when you click the right stick in
Interesting note about Big Bubbler, you CAN actually jump to it faster! Just use regular QSJ. Weird that it affects jumping to bubbler but not to beakons when there's supposed to be a beakon inside the bubbler, but it works!
Nintendo, either give wiper a better special, or fix stamp. I LOVE the splatana wiper, but it's so useless when it can barely kill anyone with it's special. It doesn't have the greatest object damage, and stamp is one way of fixing that. And then i throw the stamp at the rainmaker shield or a wall that's in the way, and it clips through them.
I don't know how he did it but, a good way to get all the weapons fast is to just switch to a new one every time you get level one freshness on it. The first time you level up a weapon gives you a Sheldon license. You can press ZL twice in the equip menu to check a see it's level/experience till level up. I advise just eating an exp up item if you do since you will lower the "price" of weapons as you level up both yourself and the weapon.
this was really fascinating, but one thing i wanted to point out for point 21 is actually no, ink saver main and special power up affect zipcaster's duration differently. special power up adds a fixed duration to the zipcaster, whereas ink saver main is dependent on how ink-hungry your main weapon is. across all weapons with zipcaster, ink saver main is at least *marginally* more effective than special power up, but octobrush and carbon roller benefit most from running a mixture of both to avoid diminishing returns however, stamper and luna blaster are ink-hungry enough that ink saver main is *more* effective at extending the duration of zipcaster (with one exception, which i'll get to), to the point that they would prefer to run only ism (plus ism still benefits you outside of zipcaster, and you're going to spend more time outside of zipcaster anyway, so y'know, it's better overall) the one exception to this is, as was pointed out in the video, point 22. because actually zipcasting also consumes some ink, ink saver main doesn't affect it, meaning that only special power up will help you if you care more about jumping around with the zipcaster
I wanted to see these myths: Can Tacticooler block attacks if you're directly in it? Can you run/swim faster if you have Trizooka and Run/Swim Speed up?
The splash wall delaying the reef slider is actually useful considering I die to it a lot. Also, next time, can you test if an e-liter can hit you on the spawn pad
Fun fact about bubbler some people still dont know. If you trap an enemy inside it, they cant shoot through it. I have so much fun sending people to the shadow realm.
Loved the editing on this one. I learned so much from this video! The Reef Slider interactions were very interesting to me, because it kind of is like Splashdown in some cases where it can deny some specials.
Here’s a video suggestion: Make a gear kit for every weapon. I think it could be very useful for all kinds of skill levels and I think it would be interesting. If you want for it to have more explanation, make it a mini-series
I don't know about the other colors but the neon purple on team gear actually makes the trail nearly invisible in decently lit areas (which is of course hindered by nightime maps)
2:41 the thing about custom kits is that it would require each main to be balanced relative to each other, each sub balanced relative to each other, and each special balanced relative to each other. And the consequences of failing any of these 3 balancing acts would just result in everyone picking the same weapon, sub, and special.
Some weird stuff happens when you put the tacticooler in front of a moving platform. I tried it on museum d'alfonsino and one time the walls stopped spinning, another time the cooler despawned and reappeared outside the spinning wall's radius... Idk what's going on there but could be fun to put into a future myths video
I still run Thermal Ink on my Tri Stringer build bc even if the AOE blasts don't trigger the effects, the actual arrows and ink shots do and most of the time you aren't OhKO'ing ppl with the weapon. Tri Stringer is one of few weapons that actually gets great value out of the ability.
I knew about the respawn armor being basically garbage from a hilarious Turf match I had. It was on Mahi and I was playing N-Zap. I went into the opponents base and kept spawn killing them, using Tacticooler as a shield and Suction Bombs to manipulate their movement. It was an insane match. I was in their base for almost 2 minutes.
I'm new to this channel, but your content is so cool and informative. I really like the mythbuster type videos and just learning about the meta of splatoon in general. It's fascinating!
So I noticed some things about the reef-slider. In none of the instances where you passed through objects did the reef-slider simply pass through them, they all were displaced at least a little bit, either by the center pillar of the splash wall or the coliding reef sliders. This is why the Reef slider did not pass through the rainmaker shield as there was no path for it to take to get around the shield. If this was tested on a different rainmaker map where there wasn't a block in the way creating a solid wall with no way for the reefslider to get around, you should be able to go past it assuming you have enough duration to get around it. TL;DR: Reefslider doesn't pass through solid objects but does slide off them if it can.
Idk if many people know this but if you sneak around in ink, you don’t leave a trail behind you anymore like in 2. No trail, no ripples, and you can go pretty fast doing this too before making ur ripples. Idk if they’ll patch this later on cause it feels like something unintentional, but bc of it ninja squid is rendered obsolete atm. It’ll just slow you down and leave a trial. Better to use swim speed
I wonder if there will be any useful scenarios where only certain shoes can shoot something from x spot. Would be pretty funny if the shoes changed the meta.
I've used ink wall to block reef slider before but I used 1 main slot of sub weapon up so maybe that could be why it worked. Also my friend and I encountered a game where their brella launched forward and stopped a reefslider, but it ended up causing some funky collision where the other player clipped through the stage and teleported behind us so I'm not sure if a launched brella can *block* a reefslider but it can definitely slow it down or make it glitch out occasionally
THE ULTRA STAMP CAN SWALLOW DIRECT SHOTS FROM THE TRIZOOKA!!! I'm sorry for the excitement, but I just had this happen to me in a random match just now and I need more people to know this, maybe even get in on the next myth busting video... Even more hilarious is how the other squid didn't even challenge me, he just swam away, it felt incredible... The ultra stamp really is a broken, buggy mess and I couldn't love it any harder
honestly I haven't heard a bunch of these myths cuz a lot of them kind of feel like common sense but some of these are also very helpful so thank you nonetheless
Ayyyy mine is in there! I'm 39 at 5:59. I've wondered how much defense the armor gives since we first got a good look at the new spawn system, I saw a bunch of people say how it could potentially fix all the issues with spawn camping but it doesn't really seem to do that, it lasts a long time sure but if you only need a 30 damage hit to break it like Ink Armor, then it might not be that efficient at stopping spawn camping. I think the spawn system as a whole helps with spawn camping since you can decide where you start within your spawn area, but since there's not that much armor overall and a single Trizooka shot can kill through it, it is a bit less helpful than it seems most people thought it would be. Again, they still did a LOT with the new spawn system to help reduce spawn camping, but it's a bit disappointing that there isn't that much armor, although if it were any more than Ink Armor had then it would probably break the game entirely.
If you do a second one, test if you can squid roll through and approaching ultra stamp to get behind it. Try it more on the side of the stamp where you only get hit with 40 damage.
