Hi Mark, In the past I've found it easier to compact and level the sharp sand first, before placing and gently adjusting the slabs. It seemed to reduce the amount of rocking that the slabs do and the hard work of lifting and adding extra sand etc. Easier again is to lay onto a mortar bed. Makes you realise how much nicer it is to work with wood doesn't it. Enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing.
For this job it needed to be on sand as l have cables running underneath and if I ever need to access them it’s not a problem. Appreciate the advice on best way to lay. 😃
Nice job. I put in a 3 foot semi circular retaining wall about 7 years ago here in my home. I had never done it before but watched lots of RUclips to learn how, Getting the blocks laid even was constant adjusting! I remembered that while I watched you try and level that second slab. Cheers

Hi Mark, Good video it can be a back breaking job laying paving slabs I laying some summer last year at my Mum and Dads house at the top of there garden , I felt it afterwards stiff back. You have done a great job there mate well done. Thank's to you and Rob ,I enjoyed this weeks Shed Space I will be there next Thursday. Keep up the good work ,Take care mate👍
Hi Shaun I had a sore back from lifting the wacker plate onto and off my van. They weigh a ton. Felt it a few days later. If fact the following Monday which is now 3 weeks ago I started digging foundations for a garden room I currently on. Really felt it for a few days. Not the best thing to do with a sore back. I’m sure you did a good job laying yours. Rob and I love Thursday evenings you guys make it so easy . We are just turning up having a good time. Stay well look forward to next week. Mark

Well done. Hope Mrs liked it. It is definitely a laborious task. I remember digging, using whacker plate, mixing cement and laying slabs.
Nice neat job Mark, even if you owe Dawn a new glass. See you and Rob next week. Take care. 👍

I generally enjoy doing something for the first time and learning I’m sure you did the same when laying your wall.
Looks very smart I think I have said this before but you do pick very good relaxing music with your videos. Well done. Steve

Nice Job !!!!!
Thanks Michael
Nice tidy job. Will you be showing the store bin build. The only thing different i would do with the slab laying is add a dusting of cement to the sand.
Thanks Kevin for the tip , I will add that to my learning. Yes I will show the bin storage coming soon. 👍
I already liked you, I always like
Great job mate, I wonder what you said when the glass fell.. 😂 I do it all the time with cups of tea 😂
Of course I spoke like a Nun 🤣🤪 I was as annoyed at spilling water as cleaning the glass and of course it went everywhere.
Smart job Mark, can be back breaking though 😫🥴
I did have a sore back after though mainly from lifting the wacker.
