  • Yes that’s right. Chia and Flaxseeds are FIBRE stars 🌟
    Chia seeds contain 34g fibre /100g so a 30g portion contains 1/3 of our recommended daily fibre intake.
    Flaxseeds come close 2nd with 28 g fibre, but these really need to be milled for us to get all of the benefits.
    Adding the seeds to your yoghurt, porridge, breakfast, pancakes, bread etc is a simple way of increasing the amount of fibre you consume.
    While sunflower seeds contain 12g/ 100g, pumpkin seeds contain 18g and sesame seeds 12g. Almond butter also comes in at 12g/100g.
    However there are some other surprises in my fibre challenge:
    Strawberries contain 2g fibre/100g but raspberries 7g
    Parsnips contain 5g/100g. Yes courgette just 1g
    Chickpeas 9g/100g, but Tofu 0.3g
    Cacao nibs and dark chocolate 10g/100g and white rice 1.3g
    Yellow pea pasta contains 11g/ 100g yet white pasta contains just 3g

    It also contains a handy table showing exactly how much fibre is in your food per 100g grams.
    This way you can easily tot up if you are reaching your 30 g day. Simple.
