- Dry Brushing is a popular tool to help keep the lymphatic system healthy and for the skin exfoliation. Dry brushing for lymphatic drainage is used by some to try and reduce swelling and for a healthy lymphatic system. It's a tool for lymphatic drainage massage, as well, but must be used gently to avoid skin breakdown. As a certified lymphedema therapist and physical therapist, I go through a step-by-step routine, showing the best technique to do dry brushing for your healthy lymphatic system to be most effective. *It's important to note that Dry Brushing has anecdotal evidence only at this time, but if cleared by your provider and done safely, some may find benefit.

What a great video! Thank you for making it so simple and easy to follow! 🙏❤️
Thanks for the video. How often should this be done?

I’m confused about what my issue is. My left leg, below the knee and into the foot, swells up quite a bit. The only thing suggested was compression socks. My doctor says that the problem is not the lymph nodes but she won’t say what she thinks it is. I have almost zero respect for western medicine, anymore, so what to do or who should I see? Thank you for everything you do!
People don’t need to do this. The body is a perfect system. What makes it imperfect is how they live their lives and what they consume.
I've dry brushed for about 3 yrs few times a week and it's the best affordable exfolliator and anti-cellulite massage.
This answered my question. Thanks! 😊
I just learned that I've been dry brushing in a wrong way. Thanks for the clear explanation.
Thank you well needed, been using this therapy for two yrs!
Didn't know there was a procedure for dry brushing. Learn something new every day.
Excellent video. Great illustrations. Very informative. Thank you!
thank you very much for the knowledge you've shared ,God bless you more !!
Oh thanks a lot! This is pure gold to me in this moment
I just bought a dry brush today to help with lymph drainage and cellulite, and this tutorial is so comprehensive for how to go about doing it. Thank you!
EXCELLENT!!! Thank you sooooo much! You explain this very well. I can't tell ya how much I needed to see this and I'm going to start tonight. Thanks again! GOD bless you! ♥
Oh you’re so incredibly welcome! 😊
Thanks for the explanation and demo!
Thank you so much for sharing the quadrants in figures and explaining the sequence for lymphatic drainage system ❤
Really appreciate all this excellent detail. I brushed today for the first time following your directions. I definitely have felt a 'boost' since then.
What do you mean by felt a boost?
Felt like my body liked the experience.
Thanks so much! You are helping clarify and simplify so much for me.
So happy to hear that it was easy to follow 🙂
Hi I was just wondering if it’s possible that doing the lymphatic body brushing can make you lose weight?? I have lost 3 stone in about 8 or 9 months. There are other contributing factors but I wonder if doing that has had anything to do with it?? I haven’t been trying to lose weight btw!! 🌻
Thanks for your videos! My electrologist recommended that I do dry brushing for my legs since they appear prone to hyperpigmentation while healing. I searched it up and tried out your leg technique, and I was pleasantly surprised that it *also* had the added benefit of making my leg feel less weird-tingly-poopy (not sure what it is but it tends to happen all over my body during the beginning of my hormone cycles) so just generally a lot better. So now I’ll get to try it out and see if it helps the rest of me be less weird-tingly ^^
This is totally different from how I have been dry brushing! I’m glad I ran across your video! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!😊
What a great video! Thanks very much!
Thank you for this refresher (for me)! Greatly appreciate it. I have had my large lymph nodes removed at the right groin and behind my right knee due to Cancer, so should I still be moving the lymph towards the groin? Years ago when my lymphedema therapist taught me and when I was going for lymphatic drainage massage, they went towards the armpit and stomach to eliminate the stagnant fluid in my leg. Can you tell me what you recommend as I’m sure the knowledge and education has changed since I last was taught. Thank you!
I have been searching for this since 7 years , thanks I am grateful
16 years ago I had to have a radical hysterectomy and oopharectomy...and had lymph nodes removed in the groin and abdominal area as treatment for endometrial carcinoma that was in a later stage. My legs have since that time swelled up at the ankles...and the calf as well on my left leg...the problem was compounded last year when my left leg was broken in 2 places...complete fracture of the outer thinner bone ( fibula ❓️🤔❓️)...and under my heel...the rounded part of the heel bone was cracked almost all the way across underneath the foot. It has been over a year since my leg was broken...and I still have problems with pain and swelling( recovery was slow because of my age...66yrs. old...and I had severe vitamin deficiencies...11 yrs. as a vegetarian and then about 4 years vegan without taking supplements...and the orthopedic doctor couldn't operate to insert pins because I am allergic to nickel...and other metals)...is there ANYTHING that I can do about feet, ankle and calf swelling in my left leg ❓️🤔❓️
I absolutely love watching your videos! You make a novice (like myself) feel like they can make your creations!
I've watched this twice, and I want to make these for my kids. Thank you, Ann!
That was very informative, because l was actually dry brushing wrong, very helpful. Thank you
Very helpful, thank you ❤
Fabulous. Thank you! I really appreciate all the effort and detail. If it wasn't for you, I would've probably done it entirely wrong xD So much contradicting advice on RUclips from amatuers.
I've been dry brushing for about 2x -3x a week for 6 ish months and I've noticed a difference. BUT when watching this video, I realized I need to make some tweaks and was clogging my lymph without knowing! I'm excited to see what results I get when brushing correctly now.
Please make a video on dry brushing routine for a clogged lymphatic system
Thank you for posting information about manual lymph drainage! I just found you today and I have needed to hear all you are saying. After going through lymphedema therapy three times with three different therapists in the last 20 years, I still needed a refresher. I am interested in the dry brushing because it is increasingly difficult for me to be effective with my manual lymph drainage due to arthritis in my hands. Can the dry brushing take the place of the massage? Or are there other types of brushes that I should use also? Thanks again.
Wow. I didn’t know what I didn’t know! Very interesting and thank you for the info!
Cooles Wortspiel
Well explained many thanks
Thanks for this. I’m using the dry brush every few days and every other day using far infrared light with a vibration plate-Total Body Enhancement. I’ve noticed a major difference in skin elasticity improvement, muscle tone and energy, The far infrared improves collagen and heals skin of many issues. Planet Fitness has the Total Body machine.
I really enjoy listening to your information it is so life-changing 🤗🙌🙌👍👍👍👍😃😃
Great 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing
Thank you for this video!
Absolutely excellent
Great lessen. Might want to have a poster in view that shows how current the information is. Sort of a "sell by" date but more: This is current as of July 2019, etc.
Thank you. Very helpful.
What is your exercise routine? Pilates, yoga? Do you have any fitness videos? Your body is so toned!
Why don't you click on her channel?
thank uu sooo much, it was so helpful 💗
Using a rebounder trampoline moves the lymphatic system better than anything else I do it daily
Pero para algunas le puede bajar el utero
How long do you do this daily, please?
@@donnabowman9059start with just 5 mins a day and build up from there. I do 20 mins a day and do 40 jumping Jack's every 2-3 mins. I'm 63.
Rebounding is absolutely amazing
What evidence aper from anecdotal is there ?
I used to do a dry brushing routine from Teresa Tapp's book. T-Tapp. Anybody heard of her. Sadly, she passed away.
Does she go into what to do for different areas if lymph nodes were removed?
Thank you so, so much!
You are awesome!good work!
Really wish there was a follow along version that’s real time. This was informative but hard to follow and make a routine
Is the brush better than message with fingers (using a light body oil)? I know you said in the video you can message if a soft brush isn’t available. I’m just curious, what’s the benefit of the brush over finger message? Thank you for this video! I will be downloading the handouts for home…SO much valuable information and I don’t want to forget anything or skip a step. Also, what is the benefit of face and neck dry brushing if you have a healthy lymphatic system? I don’t have puffiness in the face or neck. I noticed the download on your website. Thanks again ❤️..
Thank you!👍🏼
I am glad I found you
Dang I've been doing it wrong... glad I caught this, thank you so much.
Same 🙃🙃🤣🤣
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!
Great video! Which direction for the upper back lymph nodes if you have breast lymphedema and the axillary lymph nodes have been removed?
We were doing this 50 years ago, elencyl sold special brushes, probably as useful then as it is now. Nothing like a good massage.
Well it's not going to be more or less useful 50 years later anymore than walking or drinking water
Thanks!
Thank you for the explanation!
Can I use any kind of brush?
This is fun for my left ear.
Grateful I found you
Thank you
How often should you dry brush if you have tissue lymphedema in the abdomen?
Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That was really helpful thankyou
You’re so welcome 😊
Thank you ! Is there a best time to do tis brush?
Can u please tell me from when can we start doing dry brushing on the tummy after delivery??
Thx for info 👏
Thank You so much 💜🙏💜
You’re welcome ☺️
Hi there! I had Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma almost 5 years ago when I was 23. I went through chemotherapy and have had nothing but clean scans since 2019! So my question is, should I be brushing as if I DO or DONT have a compromised lymphatic system? Should I be brushing towards or away from my lymph nodes? I had one removed from my neck for a biopsy but again that was in 2018. Just not sure if I should approach this as a compromised or healthy lymph system. Thanks!
How often should you do this? How do you clean your brushes?
Bonjour.. Thanks for sharing.. How many times a week should one do it for optimal health.. Merci
What about the arm pit itself, do you do that in a circular motion?
Great information but it would be nice to allow us to follow along in real time
So grateful for your videos! How should you dry brush if you have had the lymph nodes in your lower body removed please? 🙏
Same question. Pelvic lymph nodes and I can't find any instructions for how to do lymph drainage or dry brushing in this case
I have one of these brushes but never thought to dry brush, this is my first time hearing this. I usually use my brush in the bathtub. So is this something that is necessary for everyone or is this only for those who have a problem with this lymphatic system you speak of? I’m trying to understand, but very good detailed video. It was soothing just watching 😅 I don’t even know how I got here 😂
Everyone
Any advantage to lying down and brushing legs while they're above you and then standing or lying flat to finish back to front and towards groin?Any advantage to holding arms up while brushing towards armpits?
Is the resources not available on your website anymore? I don’t see anything on dry brushing
How does one clear out the armpit or groin area so the rest can be flushed out?
I have a swollen lymph under my left arm, we have done much doctor visits and test and they've said it is not cancers. Close to my clavicle on the right, I would have some pressure and this happens throughout my right side, in the groin area, the ankle and knee, ear both to the front and back. Some night I would awake with so much pressure in the right, front clavicle area.
Can you advise me on techniques to help drain these areas, please?
What if you have Chronic Active Epstein Barr Virus?
Question: I can combine dry brushing with mld? If so, which one should be done first?
Is it possible to stimulate my eczema when dry brushing ?
Kelly, I never saw any PT describing lymphedema and this kind of help. Please have many more links, I have lymphedema on my left hand. Thanks
Click on her channel she has heeps of videos
Do brush make a difference? Natural hair/ synthetic?
Hi Kelly! New subbie here! Thank you so much for this great tutorial! I am a pedicurist and I want to offer dry brushing for pedicures. Since I am only able to work on a client from knee to toe or toe to knee, would dry brushing still work? My goal is to prep the leg for exfoliation while offering a beneficial brushing that will stimulate the lymphatic system. I want to make sure I am not causing an issue by only dry brushing to the knees.
So if everything is brushed towards groin and armpits/heart, wouldn't it get backed up or clogged at armpits and groin?
I am confused, in your last demo of Aug 16 you drain in the inguinal area. In this demo you drain towards the axillary. Kind of lost. If too much of a hassle pls don't bother to explain. Thx
Wonder if pine needle would work great as a brush?
Can this be done daily? 💜😊🐶
Instead of brushing, which may irritate the skin, wouldn’t a hand held massager work better?
Please 🙏 share your self tanning products and procedures please!??
How often a week is this done? Also, how often do you have to replace the brushes or can you just wash them and they are good forever?
I have 2 questions 1. what type of brush do I use and 2. how do I clean my brush please help..
Fantastic mam
Feeling great
Is dry brushing also beneficial if you also have Chronic Venous Insufficiency?
Video starts at 3:00
Are we pressing lightly and being gentle or are we pressing in a little but doing the brushing slowly?
Does the dry brush have to be dry ? Can in be in the shower with a shower brush?
Hi, can you recommend the type of bristle for the brush?
Totally irrelevant but I am in love with your tank.
This is have any application for people with fibromyalgia
What is the better position for this massage lying down or standing up, on the skin or clothes on?
Is it true that this massage should be done prior to a shower?
What's the difference between wet and dry brushing? Thanks for the video
Try it and you should see. Once I did it vet accidentally: somehow I didn't notice water on my brush and when I started brushing, it felt very uncomfortable on my skin, almost a burning sensation.
This was my experience , but there might be some other reason.
4 hours later…
I’ve done it totally different for years.
I always get a very red face when I dry brush my body. 🤔
Where to purchase the dry brush
