If you didn’t grow up in the 90s, it’s hard to comprehend what a phenomenon Penny was.
He was a true unicorn. Incredible vision, handles, height, athleticism, finishing… everything. I feel like he’d have benefited from recent medical advances more than anyone not named Grant Hill.

Him and Grant Hill were two extremely talented, athletic, professional, hardworking, etc. They both had formulas to be the next guy but both got injured early...

I was rooting for the Magic, but they don't, the 95 Rockets were getting better and better each series, they face elimination in the first 2 rounds against the Jazz and Suns and came back and won, and beat the team with with best record that season the Spurs. The Magic had no business losing game 1 in the fashion they did, but even if Magic won game 1, it wouldn't have affected the Rockets.

If Shaq stays in Orlando and Penny doesn't get hurt, easily a 3 peat. '99, 00, and 01. Shaq would've been the same Shaq he was in L.A. and Penny was only going to get better.
Shaq would have been better because he would have stayed fit and more mobile instead of turning into a bulldozer as Lakers wanted. Orlando shaq was the best version of him and that magic team would have won. Penny might have not got injured as that was a result of trying to carry the load by himself.

I don’t know about the 3 peat because the teams they would’ve had to beat in the west like the Spurs were still dangerous. I agree they would’ve won 3 but not 3 in a row. I still like the Spurs in 99. I think the Magic would’ve got their first ring in 2000 vs Portland, and then repeat in 01 vs the Spurs. I think the Magic lose to Sacramento in 02. The Spurs in 03 and Detroit in 04. Everyone writes them off so they add a third all star and come back and win it all in 05.
