After watching just one of his videos on stance, grip and handling recoil, shooting my 1911 accurately has improved dramatically. He basically showed me what I was doing wrong and with a little tweaking for my hand size and a few other physical adjustments I have it down pretty good now. Why mess with the rest when you can learn from the best?👍☺

It's been awhile since I searched out a video by Jerry, so when I just saw this new one put up today, I got this warm feeling and felt like all will be fine in the world as long as we have Jerry still doing what he does. He's a true American at heart. Don't ever stop Jerry. Retiring is for losers that hate their work and that's the complete opposite of Jerry Miculek, one of the truly professional shooters that teaches as well as he shoots.
I see hundreds of shooters online trying in their own way to help other shooters but with few exception, no one comes close to Jerry in getting right to the point of something that will improve your shooting ability, just practice what Jerry says and get better every time. An economy with words is so nice when teaching, more words means less learning and more confusion. Jerry also can back up everything he says with real world, pressure shooting, he gets results for himself and students here on RUclips and I say thank you, a hundred times, thank you for making my favorite sport, hobby and pastime even better.

Beginner, up to intermediate shooters have nowhere close to enough grip strength on the gun. Basically bear down on the gun, but still be able to manipulate the trigger. @@Aardvarko You definitely can own handguns! For hunting rifles you need a PAL Possession and Acquisition License, for handguns and AR15s you need a Restricted designation which is essentially an additional weekend long course with a test, colloquially referred to as RPAL. License must be renewed every 5 years and for new applications they must provide information on mental health issues within the last 5 years. Two references must be provided above the age of 18 who will vet you, and your wife/partner or ex within the last 5 years must also be documented so they can be contacted. All legally owned restricted firearms including handguns in Canada are documented in a Registry governed by the RCMP (our FBI essentially). This means that they know exactly how many you own, where they are at, and you would have to prove possession if they requested it. All restricted licenses have daily background checks (yes 365 days a year) for criminal issues or interactions with the law. A report of domestic disturbance could potentially mean temporary seizure of your firearms. There is a magazine limit of 10 on all handguns, so imported mags must be pinned or only hold 10. To legally Restricted and not Prohibited you need a minimum of 4.25" barrel, this means many older 6 shooters are prohibited. Storage laws require a minimum of unloaded and locked in a cabinet/safe, transportation laws require unloaded, double locked (trigger lock + case lock) in an opaque case. Restricted firearms can only be taken to the range, gun show, gun store, gunsmith within your province (think state) without applying for an ATT Authorization to Transport. To transport outside of province or internationally, you need to apply for an ATT to the CFO Chief Firearms Officer and fill out paperwork with your trip details and have it approved, which is basically a piece of paper you carry with you. The only legal place to fire a restricted firearm is essentially a range that has been verified by the CFO. The only allowance for carrying a restricted firearm would be an ATC Authorization to Carry, and outside of work related needs, such as body guards, security, police, military, armored car drivers and trappers (sorry if I missed a few legitimate professions) they are extremely rare. I heard only 1 was issued last year, it would be for an imminent threat on your life (probably a politician or someone with money). Fun fact, you can buy a restricted online if you are licensed and have it shipped to your door, something unheard of in the US! Another interesting related topic is we have no distinction for Rifle/Pistol/SBR for an AR15, you can build a 5" barrel or 20" barrel and there is no additional cost (Tax stamp), you simply call and inform the registry you've updated the barrel length within 30 days. There are no California like laws about only one "assault type" accessory. Binary triggers , bump stocks, and suppressors are banned. Automatic weapons exist but are prohibited and thus extremely rare generally owned by shops/businesses.

So based on Jerry's word if inly main focuse recoil management while repud fire shooting holding gun closer to you body with much more bended elbows will give you much more soled construction and more torque down low. Yes it is bit harder to aim, but if you get used to aim through that position + not competative shooter just want super good recoil control while rapid firing than holding gun closer should help.
Ask your friend to push your arms when the fully extended like holding a gun or when they twice closer to your body. In second option you will have anatomical and physiology more strength to resist

Jerry - you think you could do one of those with a stock pistol? It’s cool to see how you train, but most of us just have stock pistols. I think that would be helpful.

The EST program (you've played with it before jerry) we used in the military had an awesome feature that could track every shooter's barrel movements before and after the shot. Knowing what happens before and after a shot is just as important as the shot itself. Start off key, and you'll stay off the rest of that group. Dont return to your original sight picture after your first shot, you'll be off from there and your first shot wont matter. If you dont control the recoil, you're constantly fighting to bring the LOS back from different directions. Controlling recoil is not just about reducing it, it's also about making it constant so that muscle memory kicks in. If you're recoil is always up and left, you can adjust your grip accordingly. If it's always in different directions, it's harder to troubleshoot.
