Very well done and an awesome explanation.
All the best.
Bobby
Thanks... the hardest part was tracking down a suitable 2 pin socket.
OPEK CBJ-2B
I have everything but the female plug that would plug into the two pin connector on the board.
Where can I find the female plug with the pigtail. to run from the board to the 12V import plug. Please advise
This cable and plug was surplus from a old PC I stripped down, the cable was for an LED indicator or speaker if I remember correctly.
Where can I find the plug with wires attached that you plugged into the 2 pin connector on the board. What are these mating connectors called?
SMD connector? used in PCs to connect LEDs to motherboard 👍
Hi Oz, my R1000, has this mod already, however the clock will not keep its time after switching off? Do you know of a fix for this?
Matt UK Good question, I never used my clock as the switch shaft was broken, I would imagine a super capacitor is involved somehow to maintain current to the memory cell much like the old scanners however I could be entirely incorrect.
Yeah I can't find one anywhere to fit the headers
I physically removed the PCB header to trim it down but could have just as easily used a sharp modeling/hobby knife with it insitu, the header/plug cable was easy to source as I have a tonne of them from when I repair/restore/recycle PC's but I note similar cables are used for the Arduino style mini PC projects.
could you provide a link (U.S.) for the plug and pigtail
Something like this would work but you could get it for free off an old PC at your local eWaste centre 👍

HI; what about usb" connector instead,. ?
Douglas Mccomb Hi Douglas, the R1000 requires 12v and the USB cable only supplies 5v.
