These Enfield diesels were used in the RN as whaler boat engines and as 4 man portable fire pumps. Hard to start by hand cranking, easier with an electric starter and easy start sprayed into the air intake. 7HP rings a bell, maybe mistaken though.
Yes these engines were used by the Royal Navy in harbor launches. People late after the war put them in narrow boats, the draw back is that they are very noisy with being air cooled.
About all I could find out about them is there are 1135 cc have about 15bhp and 1800 rpm alot of them were used in marine applications and their cylinder head and cylinder walls are made of cast iron and the majority of the rest of it is made of aluminium. Great video as always 👍 ( I just found out that the pointed end on the start stop lever has to point twords the start letters to start and latch on to that thing that you were struggling to latch it on too to stop)
my mate said there a 1135 cc engine with 15 hp, they used them on life boats and long boats and they have a lovely sound and he thinks it has a spacer missing on the pully. He said you want some ear plugs when it starts cold
Ow really interesting. All I could fine was they were popular in boats and in the Navy for powering motorboats. Pumps, generators, compressors etc.. what did you find out?
What a great project, looking forward to hearing it running.
We own an enfield 2 cylinder engine on a welding set and have it for 50+ years converted to electric start and easy started
We had a generator in the 60s with one of these engine on it it was a difficult starter and I do have the hand book dated 1945

We had one in a baler but couldn't start it when hot because you couldn't touch the decompression knob
That sound about right. lol
looking at left hand side I see the number 120 C mite give you a searting point
You could try asking bartech marine in Colchester if they have any info about it
I'm thinking that when you get it started the pulley will engage.
