Story:
Barbara Tate and her baby girl are on their own in their new home, a converted mill, deep in the country. The move has been a strain, she's lonely, the baby is unsettled, but there's another reason for the disquiet she feels.... somewhere. Broadcast as part of the Spine Chillers series.

Great play, well acted. A rather dark one but enjoyable.
Interesting plot! A few strange inconsistencies... in 1984, when it was set, mothers did not leave their babies outside in prams unsupervised, or let strangers take babies for walks, or let their young sons wander off with unknown 'friends'. This would maybe happen in England in the 1940s, maybe the 1950s, but not the 1980s.
A good cast and the usual high BBC production standard.
Yes it did,my son was born in 1983 mothers certainly did leave their babies in their prams outside shops.
@jonsmum5552 Mine are a similar age, and all mums were extremely careful about stranger danger and would never leave a pram unattended or let their children wander off with 'friends' they knew nothing about.... I guess it must depend where we lived. This play was set in the UK, and my comment was based on that.
@@janebrown7231 I live in the U.K. and my comment was based on that too. My son was left out in his pram unattended,all mothers back then did the same.
@@jonsmum5552As I said, perhaps it depends where we lived. In the places where I lived in the UK, I never saw a baby left outside, not once, and people who had children at the same time as I did (1980s) were over-protective if anything.
It's interesting to note the differences.

I’ve been a sub for as long as you’ve had channels & I haven’t had any notion of I’ll health other than normal ups & downs of being human, but I hope I have not been naive nor neglectful?! J M Barrie didn’t invent the name Wendy its a very old surname. There was a Dr Wendy who treated king Henry the eighth.
