Thank you - IRUclips has placed its own ads - I have no control over that - I get NO money from this. I can only suggest install an AD BLOCKER for PC based web browers that will remove the ads.
Thank you very much for doing that! Some certain channel even interrupts all the RUclips adverts with her own homemade ones begging for money for uploading BBC content!and they come in quite randomly,in the middle of words, and often at critical moments! Most off-putting.So nice when a channel is run by someone who actually appreciates the radio plays too. Won yourself a subscriber for the principle 😊
I binge listened to his work when I heard one last year but, like you, don't remember hearing this. I really enjoyed it & love the way he draws you in to the characters and the storyline.
Does anybody know, right at the end, when he’s going off for 2 nights & his wife says she will always believe him now - is he going off to see Melissa??!!
Was the 2 nights an insinuation on the last twist of the plot - the man who truthfully denied the illicit relationship with "Melissa" now actually has it b/c the cover up irreparably damaged his marriage and he is now actually seeking solace from "Melissa"?. This was an UNBELIEVABLY EXCELLENT production on every account - writing, acting, directing - incredible.
Yes that's why it's letters of introduction on many levels and his wife's not supporting or believing him introduced him and gave him the opportunity to continue on with "Melissa" Peter whalley was brilliant
Hooked from start to finish! Before finding my first Peter Whalley story, I'm ashamed to say I'd not heard any of his writings but he very soon became a firm favourite & just having stumbled upon this one was an absolute treat! Great cast too.
Of all the great plays of Peter Whalley this was the best, never heard this one before.I live in hope of finding another of his plays that I haven't heard,a master of radio plays.
Wow! This is thee best radio program I’ve heard so far!! I’ve been taken with these British radio programs for a few months now. Catching one or two a night while doing outside chores and the storyline acting suspense everything! Was just great!! Hope to catch these actors in more stories!
@@paulcresswell2279 hi yes that’s mainly what I listen too lol but out of the 100 or so stories I’ve hear? This was definitely thee best story! There’s another program bbc I love and I can’t remember the actors name it doesn’t come to me feeds anymore but the British actor is a well know play actor on the program. His wife and him are hilarious! Split up but still in lust! lol well he is ha! He’s always getting into hot water having to move back in with her or stumbling into I murdee on set sometimes it’s him they try to murder! and he’s a very happy apologetic drunk! 😆😆 if you know the program or actors name I’d so appreciate it if you pass it on?
⭐👍Wow! A brilliant story, Completely captivating, right up to the end. Superb narration.👏⭐ listening in Donegal, Ireland ☘🇮🇪 Thank you so much for sharing.❤
Great story.... Very well written. Claire's character reminded me of many insecure women that dig themselves into their own pit of sorrow behind situations they've created inside their own head.
Got me thinking about the fortune BT must have made in telephone calls 'back in the day' and what a knock they'd have taken with the introduction of the mobile phone!!
I have now listened to 3 and a half episodes and the story is absolutely riveting. It promises to be PW’s best. The very strange, vert intriguing situation brings to mind Francis Durbridge - though the trouble with FD is that his tales veer between the riveting and the ridiculous. Hope Peter Whalley completes his story on the high note he started it and has managed so far to maintain. NB The name of call girl Melissa suggests a kind of homage being paid to Durbridge - one of whose most famous tv series is called Melissa.
I noticed your channel name is Denbighlad. Over 40 years ago I worked for Denbigh Animal Hospital in Newport News, VA/US. I didn't realize until later in life that the original Denbigh is in Wales. 😊
I was really caught up in this. I wanted it to end when the Lawyer Friend admitted it and the accused could have made him own up to all and sundry. It had me on edge. Strange to say that. It got me so involved and tesnse. WOW, the acting was so real. John (Australia)
The poor guy's wife is greatly responsible for what happened, being destructive with her reaction and unsettling him in depth and for so long. And he being too foolish, and dependent on her moods... "guilty" of being foolish and dependent. His wife and the politician neighbour would deserve each other. 😊 *And both of them punished themselves for it in the end. Great writing
Congratulations to all involved.
Bloody fantastic - author director actors Listened non-stop.
Probably the best story I have encountered on any channel. Perfectly acted, no ads , clear as a bell and held my attention to the very end. 👍👍👍

Never heard of the writer, brilliant story. ❤
Me too made my evening finding and listening to this As always it was excellent.
Does anybody know, right at the end, when he’s going off for 2 nights & his wife says she will always believe him now - is he going off to see Melissa??!!
Peter Whalley never disappoints. Peculiar talent to almost always get a thriller right.

I came across when the Peter Wally's story is quite by accident here on RUclips and I fell in love
Very good. Been a bit lost since Thinking Out Loud finally threw in the towel

Are you able to tune a radio into BBC Radio 4 extra. That channel is devoted to plays such as this.

That was Absolutely Fabulous.... Thank you....
Brilliant script as usual by Peter Walley 👍🥰
First time posting a comment on a program - but this was an excellent story right to the end
This is great stuff. New to me. I've been on a news blackout, and this stuff has been perfect for sharing space with an ostrich.
Thanks for this terrific story, beautifully presented.
Absolutely superbly acted. Another great play. ALL HAIL PETER WHALLEY!
excellent, thank you
Yes, this is the best, thank you!🇨🇦
Good old BBC4 what a great reflection of characters and twists - if you don't go oh my word at the end

Wow very good! Such expressive voices and a subtle ending.
Loved it! Interesting and involved throughout the story. Would love to see more by Peter Whalley.

Marvelous! A well acted compelling drama. A feast for the ears. More please!
Oh I thank God I found these especially Peter hope I pronounce it correctly Wally marvelous
Thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic presentation. The actors were great, particularly the main character, Richard.
Got me thinking about the fortune BT must have made in telephone calls 'back in the day' and what a knock they'd have taken with the introduction of the mobile phone!!
That was an exceptional story. Very complex and engaging. Thank you for posting.
The actors are amazing. Everybody was great love the story.❤
Really not struck on the wife's voice..a bit too BBC English.
Whoa! This was terrific! Lots of curve balls. Leaves a provovative questionmark at the end. Genius
Excellent, just what we expect from Mr Whalley. What a horrid wife, really enjoyed the implied ending.
I still have another 40 min to go, but the story and the presentation are both excellent. I'll be back to finish as soon as I can. Thank you!
Excellent
Good twists
Will listen to it again
Bravo! More plot twists and turns than a mountain road along with great voicing. I wish there would be a part 2.

Very very good in every way! The writing, the acting, production are all first-rate. Now I must learn more about the author!

Ooh! You're supposed to put a spoiler alert! Some people get quite upset when the ending is given away! 😁
You are a naughty boy John!!! Giving away story lines. Tut, tut!
It's considerate to use SPOILER ALERT. I hadn't listened to it yet.
Impeccable !!
I'm writing this just before the end , I'm hoping for a final twist!
Yes, those gardens that always look immaculate yet no one ever seems to be working on them.
Wow!!
What a drama. Excellent.
Thank you
Thoroughly enjoyed this, I will definitely look for more Peter Whalley.
Half way through and I LOATHE the wife! If I was the husband I’d walk out on her
Totally agree
Can’t imagine why he’d want to stay with her, think she’s mental.
Thanks for sharing this. Great play and a brillant ending.
Brilliant story, brilliant acting, brilliant ending...we want more !
Keeps things twisting & turning to the very end 😮
Oh brilliant ❤
What a way to be introduced to Whalley's work! Outstanding. By the way, did the cops even try to find fingerprints at the scene?????
This is an excellent one! Thank you 😊
Loved it!👏
Well written play about people with too much time on their hands.
