So sorry Holli all the best for the future hope things can pick up for you hopefully take care from a total stranger but sincerely meant-enjoy your stories ❤️
this is my favorite rendition of this story, which has been rewritten in various ways. they’re all good, but this one, with such acting, has the most suspense. 😧 Thank you much, much :) 😺🌷🌱
Actually it was Night of the Demon. You can still get it on DVD. The demon sequences were very good for the time, the one that got me was the disembodied cloven footprints appearing with a wisp of smoke in the ground coming after Dana Andrews when he was in the woods at night.
@@arthurbaldwin1804 Actually it is known by both titles - Night of the Demon in the UK and Curse of the Demon when it was released in the US (which is why Dana Andrews was "parachuted in" to play the male lead in an otherwise UK cast). It is a fine piece of work possibly only let down a little by revealing "the Demon" very early on in the film, but suitably scary nevertheless.
Mogadon mild! That dates this. They used to prescribe mogadon to psychiatric patients which’d turn them into walking “zombies” called “the mogadon shuffle”
In my younger days it was the Largactil shuffle ☺️ I was prescribed chlorpromazine for moderate depression age 18, and had been given Ativan for sleepwalking age 12! 😮
Great story but I wish they would back way off on the Foley (the background noises), especially while people are talking. And with the overtalking in the beginning, I actually missed most of the TV interview and had to simply intuit that the interview went badly. It's very hard to hear two things at once, but audio people seem to refuse to believe that.
' NIGHT OF THE DAEMON '. If you like thi9s story (and I do), watch the film. Dana Andrews. Don't know which came first, this or the film but, the premis is the same.
Love BBC radio
Since I can’t read anymore I had two strokes
Love hauntings
Scary stories 🖤

BBC Radio 4 is wonderfull. A cliche but the pictures are better on radio.

11 June 2024 - Listening from Kentucky, USA. Good story! Saving it to my faves.
Listening in bed you can't beat an English cast to tell a good scary storie.
Thankyou i sure appreciate your uploads even though ive heard them before love these short dramas.
That one was a little scary!! Loved it!! Thank you :):)
Glad you enjoyed it
SO good to have you back!! :) :)
Yes very similar story line night of the demon with main protagonist called "Carswell" great post
Thank you
Based on Casting the Runes by M R James given a more modern twist.
I have heard casting the runes(good story)
Savour such plays, before the BBC recasts them all in brown.
You can't beat an M R James ghost story at Christmas.
Thanks. A lot of interpretations of this story out there but hadn't heard this one. Very scary.
Many thanks!
I’m not a fan of supernatural/voodoo stories, but this one I enjoyed immensely. Thank you for sharing.
This story was made into the movie, The Curse of the Demon starring Dana Andrews. It was suitably creepy. Scared me as a kid.
Not watched it since a kid and you're right...the ending was unusual with its special effects for those days.
It was actually called Night of the Demon and did contain some good special effects for 1956.

From a short story by M R James 'Casting the Runes'
That was awesome!
Surely this play
Has been lifted from the 1950's
Film night of the demon.
Yes your correct.
Night of the Demon
U S title curse of the Demon.
Was adapted from the
story Casting the Runes ,by M.R.James.
@@raynorth769 thanks for that
Tag! You're it!
Welcome back!

Nothing like some ham sandwiches and a cup of tea when you've had a cardiac arrest! 😂
hey! i’ve found you again. :). 🌷🌱
Dude I started listening to this at 8pm and immediately was like "nope" lol listening again at 830am
Absolutely !
Liked it - thanks
listening from Saudi Arabia
What a fantastic play. First class. 🇦🇺
Too heavy on the sound effects by far! Unsubtle, distracting and diluting the overall effect of the play.
Very good story, enjoyed that. Good job the hex was personal and didn`t involve the whole train, eh?
Thank you, now I can DRAW & listen to radio at the same time😂

The most dangerous and demonic to say to someone
Enjoyed that.
Love it
Why did you remove that phrase, "the day he died"
I wondered about that too
Oh that was creepy.
From the movie Night of the Demon a great movie
Boltzmann brain, truth stranger than fiction.. Everybody's a puppet. Law of energy. Tbought is just electrical, so-called life'
Now that we're all on 'reservations' and the BBC has gone all BrO sensitive, it's all we have to remember the white days.

Totally OVER THE TOP sound effects!!! Spoilt the dialogue.

Actors of today haven't got a patch on these. And this is radio.

this is incredibly dull
