Thank goodness for the BBC without which we would never be treated to such excellent radio drama, better by far than the majority of so called TV drama.
This is just plain brilliant. The writing, the actors are superlative. Morse is one of my favourite programs and I hope there are more of these radio plays. Cheers to you for bringing this to us. Thank you.

Thank you Morse is my favourite detective ,, it's great to have him to listen to aswell to watch,, wouldn't be great if They done Endeavour on radio now that make my world ,,thank you again 💚💚 from 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Thanks Kit this is a treat , Neil Pearson plays the character well, and Lee ingleby as Lewis, good team ., the story is a perfect match for the original , Mr Dexter .
It is surprising just how good actors seem to make dialogue sound like a natural conversation. Just compare this to trite usa daytime films, how on earth did those even get into the profession.
Not a bad interpretation of Chief Inspector Morse, but the late John Thaw was the best interpretation of the character that I ever came across. 👮🕵️⚖️🇬🇧😁
I was a big fan of John Thaw since The Sweeny days and he was great as Morse, sadly missed. His version of Morse was quite different from the books though.
This is ersatz Morse, although with a good cast. It's not a Colin Dexter story, and it doesn't have the familiar voices from the TV series. I'll give it a listen before deciding how well it fits into the Morse canon, but meanwhile here are the programme details. Broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 2:30pm on Saturday 14th July 2018. Written by Alma Cullen, adapted for radio by Richard Stoneman. Cast : Chief Inspector Morse Neil Pearson Sergeant Lewis Lee Ingleby Superintendent Strange Pip Torrens Dr Jessica Hinkley Anna Chancellor Anthony Yateman Kevin Eldon The Master Anton Lesser Annie Ashley Smith Hazel Rachel Atkins Unsworth Edward Killingback Gregson Harry Lister Smith David Evans Henry Pettigrew Vic Nelson Okorie Chukwu Quentin Spencer Ben Crowe
Charming. Morse makes a deal with a journalist: Get me info and in return I will give you the story. When the journo has agreed and departed, Morse informs his colleague he has no intention of honouring his side of the deal, calling the journo 'a fool' for believing him. So what we have is a senior police officer with little or no honour, whose word cannot be trusted. And the guy who took his word at face value he calls a fool. I suppose he is for having trusted an apparently unscrupulous Morse. I suppose things such as 'honour' and 'keeping faith' have no place in today's world...
Yes, I am glad I am not the only one who was horrified by this. I prefer the ITV series, but then in at least one of the episodes Morse seems a bit pervy when he is talking about underage girls and school uniforms whilst he watches them play at sport. Also in that episode (I believe) he is a little too obsessed with the "butter" rape scene in 'Last Tango in Paris'. Somehow all that went over my head when I watched those in my youth, I suppose.
They should cast neil pearson as mcnutt for endeavouer. Anton Lesser playing a character here too is a nice touch too as he plays supt bright. Lee inglebys a good choice for lewis with the newcastle connection etc

The snippets of piano music throughout were desperately distracting. They popped up again and again, at times after just a few sentences of dialogue, utterly disturbing the flow of the narrative. They spoiled what was otherwise a well acted and decently put together production.

Morse is good. This isn't....The acting is heavy. The plot is cliche ridden. Snobby Oxbridge students and staff in conspiratorial peril around a murder..with loads of Latin chucked in for effect. 4/10
Agree . There's no one more pretentious than Morse with his Latin , his knowledge of wine and Wagner and his Philosophy For Dummies level Plato banter. The working class characters here are basically all of the village idiot variety whereas everyone rich is an obnoxious snob !! The " plot " is totally preposterous . Its funny you know the guy playing Morse in this played a killer in Lewis and the guy that plays Bright in Endeavouer is in this too.
