My Scottish neighbour in NZ, Grandma Mangin, would often introduce me as her grandson while giggling (I am Maori) and whisper to me "Dinna fache!" and stare down the disbelievers! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Steven Robertson as Jimmy Perez. I'm so used to watching him as Sandy Wilson that it took a few minutes to switch from Sandy to Jimmy.
I'm a scouser from Liverpool and the Detective Inspector has a hint of scouse in the accent he's portraying, does anybody hear it? Great play really enjoyed it!!!
Is the actor doing Perez the younger, wet behind the ears cop in the television series? Why doesn’t the U.S.have radio dramas like this? So good! Thank you- California
Yes! It's Sandy/ Steven Robertson. The actor is actually from Shetland which is a pretty nice touch. It's a shame they didn't do more Ann Cleeves radio plays
I thought it sounded like Stephen Robertson playing Perez, it must have felt funny for him playing Sandy Wilson in the TV series as a sort of second in command, you cannot mistake his voice, well well. I also enjoyed this but although I read the book, I do not recall them putting it on TV for some reason
Pretty good. You really need to pay attention to all the character names as it gets alil hard to follow. I did have part of it figured out fairly early on but the final conclusion is a bit over the top.

Many years of radicaliseation through the Scottish Education system has given the a huge chip on their shoulders Most of the history taught and designed to radicalise hatred against the English was / is totally wrong
No. All but 2 of those voices are Scottish. One is even from Shetland itself, The rest might be aiming for the sound of the Shetland accent. That's different, not awful

Well, since they are in Shetland, not Scotland and the dialect heritage is Norse not Gaelic, I think they do very well.
Hard to understand Scottish accents - poor diction.
The scotch/Scouse mix wasn't great, whoever that actor is.
