I appreciate you reminding us that practicing looking good in a photo is not vain. We all deserve to feel the best when we look at ourselves in pictures. When we look our best, we can relax when the pics are being taken.
Some day when us older folks are no longer here, pictures will be cherished by those we’ve left behind. Another reason to follow your pointers. Great video, Kay.
I love these suggestions! I personally love how Princess Catherine always looks amazing in pictures. She creates angles with her arms and if she's not carrying a bag, she will touch her hands (fingertips really) ever so delicately together. It looks fabulous on anyone, no matter age or body shape!!
I’m so thankful for the spontaneous pictures taken with friends as we enjoyed lunch or an outing, as a few are no longer alive. I cherish those pictures, and of all my friends, most because it brings back the joy of the moment.
Thanks for this good information. Not naturally photogenic, I notice my best photos are taken when I'm holding a dog or cat. I guess because holding an animal makes me genuinely and naturally happy. Of course this is not always possible.
I confess I have been one of the "groaners" when it comes to picture time. Maybe not verbally but definitely on the inside. These are such great tips! Thank you for taking out the mystery out of a great picture.♥️
These tips for taking great pictures have been so very helpful. I started looking at models in the Talbots catalog and bloggers that I like (that includes you, Kay!). I've been taking pictures of my daily outfits and posting them with a group I belong to. Suddenly everyone is loving my pictures and asking if I have modeling experience! The tip about creating space and also doing something with your hands helps tremendously.
So helpful! The one that resonated with me most is to start your smile with your eyes. I have so many stern weird looking pictures of starting with my mouth! Now I get it!
These are some wonderful tips Kay! You always photograph so beautifully, you could be a professional model in a Talbots catalog! Time to start practicing your suggestions ❤️
I'm late commenting on this, but I just want to say thank you and I will be watching this on repeat. I hate myself in photos, especially as I have become older. Today my husband I went downtown for a lovely Christmas eve dinner. We had pictures taken of us together. I couldn't remember everything you said, but remembered the angles and so I angled my head a little to the side and tried hard to smile with my eyes. That made a huge difference. For the first time in years, I actually somewhat liked a photo of my husband and I. ❤️
Wonderful tips! I can seldom get my 90+ year old mother to smile in photos. She looks so much more “youthful” in photos when she does give an occasional smile. 🤓.
Ah yes. It’s a conundrum. But I guess we can’t make people do what they don’t want to do. I think staying positive and keeping the atmosphere fun can help. 💕
Just saw this video popped up on my youtube. Love it Kay! Thanks for tips, i know it works for every body including us the ladies who are above 50ish. We want to have elegant, gorgeous & natural posed photos😍🥰
Now I'm actually looking forward to the family photos this year so I can try these out. I have plenty of pictures of the "other way" that are cringe worthy!! I'll be practicing for them this year!! Thank you for the timely topic!! Merry Christmas Kay!
Thanks, Kay. You really inspired me to join in on the photos and not spoil the fun. Great tips that I will practice and share with others. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Good morning Kay! Thank you for these great tips! I just want to say that you look stunning and chic in the two photos wearing the red pants and black/polka dot sweater and blouse! 💕
Kay, you are the best! Your videos are so helpful and informative!! Can't wait to do my "homework" and practice these tips. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
what a wonderful video-----so helpful! And, so necessary to keep reminding ourselves that it's not about being vain----it's about being an enthusiastic participant in what's happening around us! I have to constantly remind myself of that. I really appreciate a video from someone who knows what they are talking about giving us permission to practice and work on this necessary social skill!
You are beautiful and a confident woman. What makes you more beautiful is by sharing how other women regain their lost confidence. This is very empowering. I thank you for that💐✨
Thank you so much for these wonderful and helpful ideas! As of recent, I have been trying not to complain about having my picture taken. This will definitely help! Soon turning 70, I need all the help I can receive! 😁
So happy I found you! I will be practicing the eye tips for sure. I tend to really scrunch my eyes up way too much when I smile, so they are just slits (and my eyes are my best feature!).
Hello Shelly I learn a lot from you by posing on the picture Tell me I’m the worst one in doing n posing I’m so so afraid taking pictures honestly. Thank yuo for the share . Now I m going to keep practicing before going to this party’s this Christmas and Newyears party’s. Million thanks to yuo
Wow, you're really great at movement! I very much dislike when anyone says "ok let's take a picture", it's so much better to just start snapping as you are doing things! The other thing is thinking of someone or something you love. I can take 50 selfies and not like one, but if I want to send a friend or family a pic just to show what I'm doing the pic comes out amazing because I'm thinking of them!! 💞 I totally agree with every tip! We also need to learn the art of a great selfie. I encourage women over 50 to start practicing NOW, generations after us know how to do this because they do it every day & we need to catch up!! ☺️🤍
Blobular …. That’s the adjective I’ve been searching for! I stiffen like a soldier every time I’m in front of a camera. I’m so uptight I feel I look angry or mad. Obviously I need to loop this video and practice, practice, practice. Greatly appreciate these valuable tips. Thank you, Kay!
I will definitely be watching this video over and over. Thank you Kay for a very timely topic and for such great tips. I’m usually the photosphere and I know what it’s like to hear groans and complaints when it’s picture time. It does take a little of the joy out of the situation. So, now when I’m the one being photographed I will be more mindful of having a more gracious attitude. I’m anxious to start working on my homework!!
You are so right. I agree with your comments on being ready for pictures. For me personally it’s my eyes. I like a little mascara and eyeliner.. During the pandemic I have not worn lipstick and my lips are actually so much better and not dried out. But for some women do you like lipstick and that is their go to make it.
Thank you for the tips! I never like how I look in photos so this will definitely help. My biggest problem happens with the candid shots...that roaming camera that doesn't give any warning. Oh my!
Just finished a semester of piano lessons with our Christmas recital. Lots of pictures were taken. I dread seeing myself every time. Guess I need to practice these tips! Thanks so much! It all makes perfect sense now. 😉
A professional photographer said to me to lean into the camera & not back away because that will give you a double chin. 📸 Also, we can practice with a selfie stick. Thanks again 💜
This video came just in the for planning our yearly family photo. If you have thoughts on how to coordinate clothing for a group of 15 or more, that was me an awesome bonus!! Thanks, Kay!
I’d pick a neutral and a color and simply encourage everyone to wear those predominantly in their outfits, solids only and simple pieces, nothing fussy. You want faces to shine, not the clothes. 😉
I’ve noticed we all tend to look at ourselves first when we look at a photo. That means no one is looking at me as intently or critically as I am. Ha! So, in turn, that means we all need to stop analyzing our appearance in these photos so critically. It’s really just a decision we need to make. 😉
Hi Kay, I have to say this is one of my very favorite videos that you have done! I have always hated having my picture taken. I think your tips will help me a lot. It all made so much sense to me. Thank you so much for this video. Now I am ready for the holidays!! lol
Great ideas I work at a small boutique in our town Often I’m asked to pose with new outfits It’s all about how you present yourself and smile! We already use lots of your tips but I’m excited to try some that I just learned P S I’m 66!
Wonderful! I’ve found the more I have my photo taken the more comfortable I get in front of the camera. And these days it just makes sense to get comfortable with it because it’s a way of life now. Thanks for sharing Terri.
Thanks for the great tips. I’ve always angled myself in photos. I always touch the person next to me and I always cock my head slightly to my best side. I never thought about starting my smile with my eyes. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing. Melissa 🎄

Hi Vicki. I styled a pretty blouse here. dressedformyday.com/top-it-with-a-pretty-blouse/ and I know what you mean. It’s a little full of I don’t give it a front tuck. Maybe try that?
You are naturally photogenic and your husband does a great job with the photos!

Yes, she does do a beautiful job. She’s very poised. Thanks for sharing Tami.
I’m so thankful for the spontaneous pictures taken with friends as we enjoyed lunch or an outing, as a few are no longer alive. I cherish those pictures, and of all my friends, most because it brings back the joy of the moment.
Absolutely. Thanks for sharing, Laura. Such a keen perspective. 💕
Thanks for this good information. Not naturally photogenic, I notice my best photos are taken when I'm holding a dog or cat. I guess because holding an animal makes me genuinely and naturally happy. Of course this is not always possible.
This video is so GREAT! EVERY woman should watch this video. Absolutely BRILLIANT and useful!

This was excellent photo advice and the holidays are here! I'm always worried about by posture 24-7, so your last tips especially were helpful for me.
So happy I found you! I will be practicing the eye tips for sure. I tend to really scrunch my eyes up way too much when I smile, so they are just slits (and my eyes are my best feature!).
Great ideas! I’ll try to incorporate some of them next time someone wants to take a picture of me!!!
Enjoyed your video. Thx 💐🙏 Merry Christmas 🎄

Thanks for the tips, I look awful in pictures.😅 Merry Christmas! 🌲🌲
I know the feeling
I loved this. These are some ideas that I never thought of before. Could you also please do a video on taking selfies?
I’ll work on that. 🥰
Great pointers for me to practice!! Another great video Kay! Congratulations on your daughter"s engagement...she's lovely! Enjoy a Blessed Christmas!
Thank you Mary. We are very excited for her. 💕
A professional photographer said to me to lean into the camera & not back away because that will give you a double chin.
📸 Also, we can practice with a selfie stick. Thanks again 💜
VERY helpful, Kay! Thank you!
Great tips! But taking a photo is exhausting! 😂 I liked the advice to smile with your eyes first and to join in the memory making.
Absolutely! Thanks so much for watching.

Fabulous video with phenomenal tips! I hate having my picture taken because I am very critical of myself. That is something I am working on.
I’ve noticed we all tend to look at ourselves first when we look at a photo. That means no one is looking at me as intently or critically as I am. Ha! So, in turn, that means we all need to stop analyzing our appearance in these photos so critically. It’s really just a decision we need to make. 😉
I really needed this! I will use your tips. Thank you!
Wonderful! Thanks so much for letting me know. 🥰
great tips! TY!
Oh, my goodness I needed this and definitely saving it! Thank you. 😉
Thanks so much Susan. 💕

Thank you. 😊
You have great pictures. Thank you
I so need these tips Kay! Majority of pictures I'm in I have my eyes closed. Can you share the lipstick you are wearing today?
I’m pretty sure it was this lipstick in the Rebellious Rose. shopstyle.it/l/bBEFT
Thanks for the great tips. I’ve always angled myself in photos. I always touch the person next to me and I always cock my head slightly to my best side. I never thought about starting my smile with my eyes. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing.
Melissa 🎄
I really appreciate your tips! I’m really going to give it a go!
Wonderful! Thanks Maureen.
I just love your video's. What brand are your lace up boots. I just love them.
Here’s a link. rstyle.me/+qiDYnQ0avkoIyUz9bdZ8qw I love mine! 🥰
Love your style and all the shots you show us of how to style different outfits. This year, I find that blouses that are more poet style with wider sleeves and sometimes a wider body are really in. I personally love these. As a plus sized woman it's nice to have some options where the sleeves are not too tight and there is some interest at the neckline etc. However, I do have trouble with how to style some of these blouses I've purchased. I don't have any skinny jeans or leggings and sometimes the tops feel a little bell shaped or boxy which I don't feel is flattering. Would love to see how you would style some of these cute blouses. I'm 58 years old, size XXL or 20W.
Hi Vicki. I styled a pretty blouse here. dressedformyday.com/top-it-with-a-pretty-blouse/ and I know what you mean. It’s a little full of I don’t give it a front tuck. Maybe try that?
Great video! ❤
OMG. Loved this video so much. Thank you. ❤️🎄
