I still wear skinny jeans. Ann Taylor has curvy skinny jeans that are great and always on sale. Never tried Chicos, always thought it was for old ladies but bc of you I will give them a try. The pieces that you show are very cute. Thanks!
Excellent idea for a video. You should do them more often, with the before and afters.
First time viewer here. As an almost 49 year old myself this video is cracking me up. Great advice but it just reminds me so much of all the things that were drilled in our heads. And especially when you said, "80's we weren't exactly known for their good fashion" In the segment to match your "colors". I said a big "amen". You are so real and relatable! You have a new fan for sure.
Thank you so much!!
I personally think you look fantastic in those white jeans, but I hear ya! I always feel the same way in white jeans/pants. I recently found a pair that I love from NYDJ, the "Marilyn" straight!
I agree, you'll be a size 4. They have a new cropped style out which will be ankle length on you (me too!) GREAT video
Marnie thank you for being real. I think your style is beautiful.
Is it weird that I smile when I hear your intro tune? I just love that’s it’s been the same for as long as I can remember! 💕 Definitely a Ms Goldgirl trademark! Thanks for the years of great, classy, real, content!
Not weird to me! I love that!
So funny to read this. My hubby says, “Oh! Ms. Goldgirl,” every time he hears me watch your videos. A trademark for sure 😊
Marnie, I think you did a great job improving the frumpy outfits. I too, have a hard time with white jeans and I even go up a size. I am shorter than you (5’2”) and have problems with high rise jeans in that the crotch area can be baggy and the fly area does not lay flat even though my jeans are not tight across the belly. I should try petite jeans and it would probably fix the problem with the rise. I don’t know how to remedy my issue with the zip fly not laying flat. Another thing that I have found is that a thicker white jean with a high cotton content is better at not looking “sausage-like”. I have a pair of NYDJ white jeans in the Alina Ankle style from several years ago that have cut-outs at the bottom resembling eyelet. I need to check out their website to see what styles they have in white. I thought in the improved look that you had a different pair of white jeans on. I think the belt made them look better and not “pooch” out in the stomach area. It’s so much harder with white jeans because they show everything! Again, I think you did a great job! Thanks for being real!
@Julie Goerke I have the same issue with the zipper not lying flat. Never thought of trying petite as I have never considered trying petite. I always thought the rise would not be right. I have always wanted a decent pair of white jeans. Glad the @Marnie featured Chicos. I used to wear it for business casual but have not been in the store since retiring. I also like Soft Surroundings. I might check out jeans there when I am in a city.
I prefer the white sneakers with the outfits. They look more youthful than the sandals. I'm also not a fan of the half tuck. It looks messy to me. I prefer to either tuck it all in or leave it out.
I think many do this to show off any designer belt buckle. 🤷♀️
I don't think that's it because everyone I know who does it doesn't usually even wear a belt.
Such a great video. I will definitely be trying some of these ideas out.
Such a fun and enlightening video 😉. You did an amazing job of articulating the subtle things that make are impactful. Now I know why the cute striped shirts I buy just hang in my closet because I hate wearing them!
Wonderful video! Your swaps really made a difference. I definitely learned some good strategies from this video.
Thanks for always be true! Love your little "tweaks" that make a huge difference!
You are so welcome!
Amazing video! Real talk everyday life! I loved it well said!!
This was bang on! The skinny jeans wear not good but the boot leg jeans on you were perfect as were all the other changes. And thanks for the giggles … you have a lovely sense of humour!
Yes. I was amazed at that more than any other of the changes. I am a boot cut person thriugh and through and I have never been a fashionista. Now that I am retired and have more time to think about these things not to mention realization I don't have the money to waste on mistakes, I am paying more attention.
You have some good ideas. I would suggest Fly London shoes. Amazing comfort will be on the way to you. A lot of retail people wear FL because their life is on linoleum. I am a former design teacher working as a professional stylist.🙃.
Thanks for the great suggestions. I feel the same way about white jeans!
You are so welcome!
Vintage American eagle are awesome jeans. Express Precision line is a true Jean not a lot of stretch but really holds you in.
I have a pair of white cropped pants for summer. I like your idea of sandals with your white jeans.
Good job! I always get good infallible, recommendations from you 😘 I really like that graphic tee blazer outfit🤩
Yay! Thank you!
This was fun! Although the original outfits were cute, the tweaked ones were all more flattering. Thnx
Wonderful video one I could really relate too. There are days and then there are days!
I have been in a couple of Walmarts lately. I looked for that sweatshirt especially as I had seen in someone else's video in lavender. There was nothing left in most sizes... except that animal print. Apparently it isn't selling out. There were stacks of it. I'm a retired kindergarten teacher. It looked like a giraffe to me. Since I don't take kindergarten kids on field trips to the Cleveland Zoo anymore, I passed on that one!
Try Talbots white jeans
I'm finding ivory sneakers have less contrast than white. Also, navy and ivory stripes vs black and white. Would love your feedback on Brigitte vs Juliet Chico's pants. Same fit just Juliet is a heavier fabric??
You are so funny & I love that you are REAL. The front tuck is great especially if you have a *normal* belly, like 99% of women. Its flattering & intentional. What I dislike is the weird half shirt tuck that looks like you forgot to tuck in one part. Can't wrap my brain around it. Plus it looks messy. My two cents there!! 😬
Banana republic factory has a great pair of white jeans, I know because I own them and they fit and look great. I also have a hourglass shape and I'm about a size 10.
I DESPISE the one sided tuck! It’s so bizarre to me! Going to add those BRF jeans to my list!
Love this! Thank you
You're so welcome!
What does LTK mean? You mention going to it? I’m not sure if I’ve remembered the letters correctly. Love your videos
$200 dollar jeans!!! Come on! Most people ca t afford that! How about a nice jean in the $50 dollar range?!
You can do your own homework to find the equivalent style in your budget. She's just giving you the concept.
Check out the Levi's 311 jeans. I bought these on a whim expecting to like the 721's more and it was the reverse. I can't speak for the white fabric pair, I have a medium, very dark, and gray pair so far. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Our measurements are pretty identical. I'm 130 lbs, 28 inch waist, and size 28/30 is perfect. I tried the Express Super Soft jeans and hated them. I hear good things about Everlane jeans, but have yet to try them.
As a woman in her sixties, I fought the idea that a front tuck could look good on me. I was wrong. I ran around wearing long tunic tops that I thought was hiding the "problem areas" of my body, but I was, in reality, focusing all the attention on that area. The front tuck is so much more flattering on me and gives me the correct proportions for my body.
So many women get so angry about the front tuck-but I really think they need to take a picture both ways and ask friends or family to give their input. When done right, it can be very helpful!
Great video! I struggle with the frumpiness fight. For the white jeans, I just found some at old navy called “Wow jeans”. I paired them with a button up gauze shirt. I loved the outfit but struggled with the shoes. I highly recommend the jeans, though!
Great video! I like Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda style white jeans! The fabric does not contain polyester…only cotton and spandex! Fabric content is very important!
Sorry... front tuck looks like you didn't check yourself after using the toilet. In fact some star probably did that and all the teeny boppers decided it was kewl. Pretend all you want, but it doesn't change the fact... the Emperor actually has no clothes.
Front tucks are so OVER-RATED and over done. They actually make your stomach look bigger and like what you said, it looks messy and unkept. Leave the front tucks for little girls with no body shape.
Frumpy fashion fixes! Love the before and after. More please! Love your channel!❤
Marnie, seriously, this is a great video! Actually, as hard as I try, “ frumpy” is my middle name….
You looked good in the outfits and then you “ defrumped” them, and wow! I could see the difference. Yes, the perfect fitting white jeans are very hard to find. By the way, I love your sense of humor! Thank you for another great video! Shalom!
I doubt you're frumpy! So glad you liked the video!
My go to for white jeans are the Amanda pants by Gloria Vanderbilt.
I've started buying petite or "cropped" tees and tops for jeans so I don't need to tuck. It's tricky to get them to hit at the right place but when they do SO MUCH BETTER.
I have started doing this as well. When it works, it’s great!
FABULOUS tip!!
Love this video….it’s amazing how subtle tweaks make the outfits look better. Thank you

This video was excellent. Loved how you showed small changes but they made a huge impact. Please make this a series if it isn't already ☺️
Thick denim especially if it has spandex is not good. Try some white chinos. They won’t show lumps and bumps but have the casual look. Talbots has great ones.
I loved how you took each outfit and did tweaks. What a great format! I would watch any number of these!
Same!
Try white jeans by Kut from the Kloth! I also like a pair from AG but prefer my white ones by Kut.
Yes! I just found several pairs of white jeans in different silhouettes from Kloth from the Kloth too! They are so good I had to share also.
A tip to hide a tummy is, tuck your top on the side or sides and let the fabric fall in the front and back. You show a bit of your waist on the sides and you dont notice your tummy😊 hope it helps
I love that you shop at Walmart. Folks sleep on Walmart but you can get pretty nice things there. Target also has nice clothes. You don’t have to shop high end stores to put together great outfits.
wow. you helped this 57 year old "i- thought- I- looked- good-in -this"
lol!
thankyou for better options!!!
going in my closet NOW- I have ALOT of work to do🤯🤯🤯
I always avoid articles of clothing when the word "puffer" is used to decribe them.
Same. Whatever the piece of "puffer" clothing, it always screams "sleeping bag" to me.
This is a great video. Please make more like this. I’m 61 and I can’t wear white jeans. I’m like you and can’t find a pair that looks good on a very pear shaped frame. I’m loving dresses, but how do you make summer dresses look fun and not frumpy🤷🏻♀️
That’s a good question-I live in dresses in the spring and summer. Let me think about that one…a lot of it is what kind of print and shoe are you wearing. I need to make a video on this!
@@MsGoldgirl yes please!!!
I love this video! I feel like I’m right there with you going through the thought process. I want you to come to my house and do it with my clothes 😅except that it’s -20 Celsius today and you might turn into a snowman ☃️. Thought: at the end of each outfit it might be nice to have a side by side shot of stills, to see the before and after at the same time. To get the full idea. 😊🇨🇦 🥶
That’s a great suggestion for the side by side comparison. Will definitely do that next time! And yes, I would be a human popsicle up there!!
White jeans look best on thin legs
I like a beige or skin tone shoe with a little heel because I think it helps to elongate the leg and not stand out and draw the eye too much
that tucked in front look is AWFUL. NO.
I have the same Maroon 5 graphic T and I had it altered to a scoop neck. It is so much more flattering for my larger bust than the crew neck.
I still love my curvy fit skinny jeans as well! Let's just wear them! What do you think?
Oh I’ll still wear them!
Love your style Marnie. I think the Chicos white jeans look good on you.
Oh thank you!
Marnie, you are way too hard on yourself! By the way, those white jeans look fantastic on you.
I have the same issue with white pants. Just can't seem to find the right fit. I see all the bumps/lumps :( I like how you put yours together. And my legs are just a white as yours :)
I tell my husband I'm borderline fluorescent.
The white puffer vest was a better color. Black one looks like a trash bag.
I do like the black puffer vest. I work in a clothing store, and there are a lot of fashions I wish I didn't have to see on people who are more developed or older. Some of it just makes a lot of women look cheap and like they can't be noticed for anything besides a body. We as women need to see ourselves as being worthy to be sought for what we are inside. That, to me, is important when making decisions on clothing overall.
I think the sheen was the issue, not the color.
Just found you so not sure how tall you are... but for me, 5'2" I wear thinner, longer graphic t's, and TIE the LEFT SIDE in a KNOT- it looks SO much better & makes me look taller & thinner. Especially if wearing hi rise jeans!
Sing it sister…about the white jeans!!! I have never found a comfortable pair either and I’m a little curvy but by no means at all overweight. They’re just so much stiffer than other jeans.
Too many graphic tees are boxy, too long and man-shaped OR skimpy/cropped. I have stopped buying them. Great video!
The key is to find them in a thin or tissue weight fabric.
I love your tips, they are so thoughtful, and helpful!
I haven’t worn white jeans since my teens. Just don’t care for them. I love your boots with your outfits. Love and kindness, Teresa
Ugg! Mom jeans. The best jeans were the old levi's with NO spandex.
yes, the old 501's that you had to wash several times to break them in. When you bought them, they were dark and stiff.
My favorite white jeans are from Tommy Bahama. Hmm, I have that blue sweatshirt from Walmart and I may just pair it with my white jeans 😉
I discovered your channel when you collaborated with Kelli and Christina. I’m 72 and only 4’11” tall but have the same type figure as you. I generally wear size 4 curvy fit and small sizes. I have the hourglass figure with the slight front pooch. So I identify with what you do except you are much taller. I definitely prefer booties over sneakers for as long as I can but I live in Central Texas! Thanks so much for the video!
Love meeting a fellow Texan! I’m not far-I’m in San Antonio!
Very helpful!! Thanks, Marnie 😊 I’d love to see more content like this!
More to come for sure!
I love white pants/jeans, just not on me. I'm a 6-8 size, wider hips to body proportion, and always felt VERY heavy in white pants, even in my younger days of size 4-6. I believe it's a body-proportion issue. So I quit buying them years ago. That's the only answer I have. ;-)
I love this concept where you take us through how to kick our outfit up a notch!
I am with you on the white jeans. Don’t own any. I have tried. Just does not work for me.
I'm still searching-I won't give up!
The crop jeans look the best on you. ( in my opinión :) if you could find a good pair of white cropped jeans, that blue striped shirt would look good with that. White jeans are great for the summer and a good neutral .
Thanks for the tips !
I like your advice because it's realistic and you buy low and high end items which is what I do. I am no where near as thin as you but I can still follow your tweaks and I appreciate that and you!
Love that!
This was fun! Thanks for doing it :)
I had to wear cardigans as part of my school uniform and even 60 years later, I am still despise them. I am a pullover girl. As far as frumpiness is concerned, the long cardigans are something that I believe are the number 1 worst possible thing a person could wear in public. At home, in front of the fire, with a glass of wine, or while weeding the garden ---then I can see them being useful.
Marnie, you should try Talbots White jeans. They are the only white pants I can wear (I'm 5'2", 142 lbs hourglass figure, so white usually doesn't flatter me). But these do!
I only feel my best in skinny jean I do not think I’ll ever get rid of them 😄
I'm TOTALLY WITH you on WHITE JEANS! I have 12 pair & only like ONE... they're MATCHSTICKS (in a 27 & I ALWAYS wear 26) Try that floral sweater with the white jeans & CUT the hem of the jeans unevenly & fray a little then wear with cute sandals with 2" heel... You'll love it!
Same with white jeans and I’m 4 sizes bigger then you! I keep buying them…..keeping them, but never wear and end up giving away. I want them….they look fantastic on others…..just not me.
Exactly!! But I'm still trying!
I think those white jeans make you look thinner than any of the blue jeans you showed. I, too, am searching for a good pair of white jeans. Thanks for the great video!
I'm short but I love white jeans, so I worked to find a way to wear them without looking even shorter. Here's what I learned. A pair of high waisted, slightly wide leg white jeans look great on me. I wear them long, with a light brown shoe that has a little heel. I wear a short top in a similar color like beige, or a white T shirt tucked in front. Add a short jacket, and white jeans can look really current and great in winter!
I have to say that I liked that first outfit better than the revised outfit!😁
Thanks for this what-to-wear tutorial. None of the original outfits looked bad, but swapping out a few items really made a difference in appeal!
Love your videos! I would love to see the original before outfit side by side with the after photo.
I was just thinking that you looked so much slimmer in the white jeans than in the blue...
Really? I just felt so uncomfortable! I will keep searching for white jeans that i feel GOOD in and share them!
Great video, Marnie! My white jeans are by J Jill, the authentic fit with slim ankles. I’m also curvy and these fit me well. Not perfect, but the best I have found for my body type. They have a heavy enough fabric so as not to be see through. I love the way you look in the white jeans, but I get it! Thank you! xoxo
LIGHT WEIGHT PANT SUGGESTION that I found and love: At Macy's, the Curvy Skinny Leg by Style & Co. ❤❤❤❤❤
I found white Levi pull-on ankle jeans (I’m super petite) on Amazon and they are the best, most flattering white pants/jeans I’ve ever owned. Totally not see-through, which is always my litmus test for white clothing.
I have to say that I own that green t-shirt from Walmart and I love it. I have red hair, so that color is super flattering for me. I totally get what you’re saying, but just thought I’d chime in since I own it and thought it was funny that you didn’t like it on you. I own the white and black one you like too. They’re just so affordable and easy to throw on for casual days!
Thanks for all you do. I love your channel!!!
I liked this video, it gave me alot to think about and some good ideas. Thanks for giving a shout out about LisaLisaD1. I went over to her channel and I just love her. I watched several of her old videos yesterday. Now I love you both. Thanks for all you do for us.😁
I love Talbots Girlfriend white jeans. (Over 50 subscriber)
I found some white thin chinos at the thrift from J Brand. Comfy and not clingy
Skinny jeans will never be over for me! Love them buy them super cheap at yes Walmart and they have a little bit of spandex. Ditto white jeans, they always make me feel fat (well I'm not small). Plus to wear all day..always spill something! LOL
White jeans are tough sometimes, but even worse for me are white shoes. Absolutely cannot wear white or tan shoes. Lightest I will go is a medium cork brown. What a hang up, huh!?
I don't care for the faded lines on the thighs. if I'm wearing a skinny jean it's going to be super tight very crisp very clean. solid very dark denim or very light denim .but it will be a solid tone or to the other extreme where they are heavily distressed but not just distressed with those lines on the thighs.
Love your frumpy fashion fixes. Great tips to keep in mind for real women. Thanks Marnie😘
Thanks for all the helpful tips. I also appreciate you did it without insulting everything I wear! That has happened on other channels.
Spanx offers a no see through white pant and jeans; they are lined with silver. I haven't tried them personally, they are pricey.
They are on my radar-worth it if they work!!
I've heard good things about them also and they're on my list.
Great video! Shows how selecting the right clothes and fit for your body type can really make a difference. Thank you, Marnie.
The frumpy outfit with the white puffer looks more modern than the new streamlined outfit with black and therefore looks waaaay younger. It is a ten year difference
Girlllll, loving your channel!
I am 40 and am gleaning so much goodness from your videos- Im learning new things and pleased to find Im doing some things right.
Try white jeans from:
DEMOCRACY (built in ab band) or NYDJ.
Definitely on my list!
I appreciate how hard you work daily even with a migraine. You are blessed; there is nothing wrong with your figure. Wear the shorts, show off your legs, and do not worry about a mom pooch. You don't have one. I know we all have our concerns about our bodies but you are too hard on yourself. You are beautiful!
The striped tee in pastel “ touquosie “ blue is not hard to pull off. It just needs to be worn with white pants (or off white, whatever the background color). The tee’s shade of blue doesn’t play well with the denim blue in the jeans.
I couldn't figure out how it was "frumpy," either, but I guess I like frumpy. 😂
