(Melanie here) The best thing about being my age is having grandchildren and rediscovering interests that I didn't have the time or money for when we were raising our kids.
Good posture is something that I’m very conscious of in myself. When I see stooped or slouchy posture in others, I immediately think “old”. It’s something I work on daily.
How nice ! As a boomer , remember my mother's friends who had similar length hair & how elegant they looked w/ a hair in a bun or French twist / chignon , even when dressed casually . To my young eyes , much more " exotic " than others who wore the short matronly styles of that era . And yes , thanks to those lovely role models , I too now often wear a low ponytail / bun / Fr. twist - w/ jeans , white shirt , sneakers & pearl studs ! 🤗
So encouraging and "on point"! You always look lovely and approachable. At 69 I am grateful for generally good health, my wonderful husband of 50 years, 4 healthy, happy adult kids & their spouses, our 6 precious grandchildren, and my amazingly active 90 year old Mum.
I had my colors done in my 30’s and I was considered an Autumn. Today in my late 60’s I’m now a Calm Autumn. Much more muted colors but similar. I know what you mean about shopping at one store. I’m sure at times I look like a Talbots ad! But I do try to find items within that store that I can use in multiple ways. As a true petite, choices can be a bit more limited. My favorite thing about aging is the freedom it allows me. Another great video Kay!❤
I so agree with you on not wearing matching items. I’m a punky old lady who always believes that opposites attract, not just with clothing items, but with accessories and clothes too. For example if I wear pearls, I would wear with jeans instead of some too dressy clothes. Always enjoy your videos.
You look gorgeous in that blouse! I enjoyed your hair demonstration. I actually loved it best before the flat iron when it was full and natural. You’re fortunate to have great hair and have so many beautiful choices.
Just sayin...YOU are my favorite influencer! Thank you for representing us all so well! Class, beauty, smarts and a heart for JESUS! You have it all going on!
Oh! That is a gorgeous blouse! I wish I could find something like that in my price range. Any hints under $100? Thank you for the tips. Please, stop calling yourself old! The best thing about being my age i(73) is the time I have to do the things I love: be involved in the arts, go to the gym, work on my garden, walk my dog, visit with family and friends often. Basically, just live and enjoy being alive!
I have always loved your hair style - it always looks fresh and stylish. For most of my life I wore my hair long and often in a ponytail or single braid for convenience. Then I found out that I was aging myself with that long hair so I am now wearing my hair chin length. I am fortunate at age 73 to have thick hair and I have let it go silver and LOVE it that way. ALSO love the puffer black vest with black slacks. I live in Michigan and we get cold and windy here. I often wear my navy blue light weight Land's End vest with blue jeans and a pretty blouse for a polished and casual look esp. when i go to our senior center for lunch with friends. This come in several colors and I plan to buy a burgundy vest soon.
Always inspiring, reminding me to put in just a bit of effort. I recently visited an older relative who use to never go out without makeup, now not so much. I think we can all get stuck in a rut/wearing a uniform, but just a bit of pizazz gives you a lift and that attitude change makes the difference. A nod to trends(maybe a scarf) keeps you current, just like a touch of red that was mentioned.
Almost 82. The best thing about this age, rarely being greatly concerned about what anyone else thinks. Having said that, I do enjoy hearing your tips and being reminded I could probably look better and look more the way I feel, younger.
Hi Kay! 👋 I loved this video! My favorite thing about being almost 55 yrs old is I've learned what is & isn't important. When I was younger, I was wound pretty tight and stressed over every little thing. Now I've learned what is & isn't worth it! I really enjoyed seeing you style your hair. It looks great!
A great video, as always! Many years ago I had my colors done by color one associate. I was told we can all wear every color, but not every shade of every color. For myself, I have to stay with cooler shades, and steer away from very dark and very light colors, seeking mid tones. I’d love to see a future video on the subject of appropriate colors for different skin tones. I’m 74 and love your informative daily emails and your weekly video. Thank you so much.
For me, the best thing about my age is that I feel I can do what I like. I love your videos, and always take notice of your tips. My style is Bohemian, but I can still make what you say work for me. Fashion is not just for the young, and style has no sell-by date.
I love that I have 56 years behind me and like you, Kay, looking forward to many more! I feel better when I eat healthier, proper sleep, exercise, help others. I love my church family and serving in women’s ministries. We have so much to offer at this age. My husband and I have been married 34 1/2 yrs, raised 3 daughters. 2 are married and middle daughter engaged! No grandchildren yet, but cannot wait for that beautiful season as well. Love your videos Kay. As always so educational and inspiring ❤
Kay I did not even notice the lipstick or the sleeve until I read your disclaimer. BTW I love your hair and your gentle kind spirit. Many blessings for what you do to help us ladies.
You've given me a few things to think about and work on... thank you! What do I like about my age - having my full head of white hair fit my age at last (I started going grey at 18!). I especially like your thoughts on reassessing colour, since my hair skin and eyes are all lighter than before, when I was considered a winter. Now I see more of a summer in the mirror!
I am 66 and still teach 9th and 11th grade. They keep my mind fresh . We laugh together and have a wonderful time. That is anti aging. I do keep fresh and modern in dress and style and receive compliments from my students occasionally. Who would have known that "drippy" is a positive description of modern dress.
Great thoughts Kay! I really do love your haircut on you, and the outfit with the dark denim jeans, blue button down and shiny dark vest is fabulous! My favorite style thing about being 60 is that I’ve finally realized a tailored look just isn’t me, doesn’t work with my long curly graying hair, and my true style is more romantic/bohemian. It’s good to realize what works!
This hair tutorial is exactly what I’ve been waiting for!❤. I’m going to practice tonight! And thanks, also, for the reminder about the mistakes. I’m afraid I can make most of them at one time or another. Maybe if I watch this every month I can cure myself! 😅
My mother would go into one store and buy slacks, skirt and blazer that all matched! The only thing that was a different color was the top or the blouse she put with it but she always did the matchy matchy! I did learn from her about color coordination and patterns though. Clothes were the things my mom really got into over anything else!
Thank you, Kay. What I like about being 70 is that I wake up happy every day. I do not have to go to work. I am healthy all the time. (except normal aging stuff) What a thrill that is. (I do work during tax season, but that doesn't last very long, and I am happy to make a few bucks.) What made me look older was taking my medium brown hair and trying to make it lighter. My mother asked me if I was tired and then she said it makes you look old. Well, she was right. I now have my original color back, and it makes a whole lot of difference, especially in my eyes. My hair is shoulder length, sometimes it gets longer but I have it trimmed and styled every 4 or 5 weeks. And I keep hair spray to a minimum. I like the trends, but I do not go crazy with them, I just like to know what is going on and what is in style. After all, my husband and I still go out every week on date night or we go to movies or concerts or ballets. We aren't dead yet. I try my best to look my best with daily exercise, mani pedis, facials, and up to date make up and clothing. People are nicer to you when you look good and smile. One last thing Kay. My husband and I are going to NYC on November 8th for an extended weekend. I know you travel a lot. So, my question is: What do people wear going to a Broadway performance (we have booked three). I haven't been there in years, and it is quite possible that everyone goes to the theater business casual. What about a tie and jacket for my husband? Is that necessary? We will be sightseeing during the day. Thanks again.
I noticed a theme in all the photos that you shared, all the women had a strong, dark brow. I recently noticed in photos of myself that my age lightened brows were making me look faded. Having my brows tinted every 6 weeks is saving me from having to draw a darker brow on each day. Great content, thank you!
You have the absolute prettiest 'grey hair" that I have ever seen. Honestly until you said it was gray I didn't realize it was, so healthy and youthful looking! Also the colors you are wearing today are perfect for you and the lipstick, perfection!
Good morning. I’d like to say I find your videos very helpful. I am 59. All your ideas are very “wearable” whether or not they pertain to hair or clothing. The idea of “not being perfect” is so appropriate. I also find the young girls wear their hair “too long” as well and it weighs them down - this concept doesn’t just apply to the older women out there. If one has a large bust, hair around the profile just makes you look more heavy busted as well. I also appreciate the “kindness” in your videos - there is no harsh criticism. Keep up the good work. I live in Canada.
I love putting clothes together, mix and match. I feel that I can create different looks with almost the same articles. I feel quite creative in my older years. Love the video so thank you.
When I was young, I could “pull off” any color near my face because I was young. However, I loved the warms. At 75, my hair has grayed, but the undertone of my skin hasn’t. I was told it doesn’t change. I still wear warm. Not the autumn palette, but the spring. I agree with being modern, especially denim.
I'm rocking a short Pixie cut so my hair doesn't move. 😆 I get a lot of compliments on it, I think, because my hair is gray and it looks surprising with the short cut. You made a good point about not purchasing clothes from only one store. I bought a leopard print top that is beige, light pink and hot pink. I think having the print in an unexpected color is fun. Thanks for your gentle reminders for us to avoid the visual traps.
Thanks Kay! Always great advice and tips. I am a redhead with loss of color in my hair around my crown and face and darker on the bottom. I have worked with my stylist to add some red highlights that blend in with the gray instead of overall color. I get so many compliments! aging gracefully! What do I love about my age? 64 gratitude and thankfulness and just being me, a "boomer" as my kids say.
I love your hair, and I am going to buy the product you suggested. It is now out of stock so I can't use your link, but I see that Amazon carries it. Your site is new to me, but I will be back because I appreciate your sensible approach to aging.
Just to say, I'm one of those women who need to arrange my hair to make sure that bare areas don't show. I'm pretty sparse on top, but when my hair is brushed evenly it isn't too apparent, so yes, I spray the bejeebers out of it so that the wind doesn't expose my scalp. I don't think I have an old lady haircut because women my own age assume that I'm younger than they are. But truthfully, I would rather take the chance that my hairstyle is aging than going about looking bald. And yes, I use minoxidil, which is why I have any hair on top at all.
At my age I love how I can do, dress, be the person I am without worrying what others think. I do struggle most with thinning of my hair at the top of my head. I really appreciate your advice.
I have a classic style, but there is almost always something from the current trends that I love, at least a color, print, shape or silhouette, etc. This autumn’s trends are the best in decades for me, so many of the trends are actually classic, like: plaids, contrast-color trim, Polo knit tops, short, wider-pleat skirts, Argyll and cricket sweaters and the Preppy Style in general. The colors browns, burgundy and khaki green are great, too, and already in my wardrobe in abundance. The best thing about trends is that when items, colors, etc. are trending, I can find more of what I love. For example, I just got genuine leather skirts in burgundy and khaki green, which I’ve been hoping to find for ages, but those colors weren’t trending until now. I welcome the return of more classic, polished and elegant dressing, there wasn’t a lot to love in the years 2000-2020, styles were quite extreme.
I'm 71 and work at staying current as I encounter customers since I am a photographer that deals with people usually younger than I am. I pray a lot too.
Thanks for this video, Kay! I have purchased the Better Not Younger mousse and can’t wait to try it! Would you mind sharing what shampoo you use? The volume shampoos seem to leave my hair tangly and dry :( Maybe I’ll go back to the Keratin shampoo… Have a great weekend! ❤
Your haircut is very flattering. I just got my hair cut. She took several inches off and gave me bangs with one side longer than the other. My husband Gae her a $15 dollar tip for a $28 bill. We were very happy! I look younger
Excellent video! Thank you. This wise message provides me with food for thought, time for personal reflection, and a shell for my Immediate action plan. Again, thank you, My Friend.
I really agree about looking like an ad for a clothing brand and/or to classically tailored. I believe you can have more than one look. You can be classic but also mix it up.
Thank you again for another great video. An observation I’ve made is that many women do not possess hair styling skills and wear long shapeless hair as a default hairstyle for that reason. We know they would look more attractive with one of the beautiful styles you showed today. Be thankful if you can style your own hair. I’m 65 and starting the process of letting my hair go gray. It comes to the bottom of my neck and I’m hoping it will look okay.
Great tips, Kay. I always look forward to your Wednesday videos. I find that I can't wear black near my face as I used to. I am almost 68 and I am embracing this stage of my life. I am enjoying my grandkids most of all. They keep me younger.
You are warm! Try "Spring" colors ...clear, warm,, especially Coral. I was done incorrectly, as a Cool. I resisted when a different consultant changed my season. It changed my life! The BEST change to making me look younger!
I'm 77 and still vibrant! Being fashion-forward is part of my artistic creativity. I enjoy your videos and have a question. What eyebrow product and shade do you use? It looks really perfect for your skintone and hair color. I haven't found a shade that's a taupe/grey like that. Thanks!
Your hair looks cute and sassy. Makes you look younger. I don’t understand why older women want long hair. It makes some women look older when their hair is longer.
This year I went gray and grew out my hair longer. I took a picture to my stylist who approved and we’ve worked together to get the look I wanted. I’m lucky to have thick wavy hair.
The clothes in my closet are hung by color not item. I can select an color and then move back and forth along the colors until something catches my eye. Then I build my outfit from there😊
I am 67 and the few things I enjoy about being this age is, I am pretty healthy [thank you God] and most say I do not look my age which is always a flattering compliment. Another thing I like is I am able to be a little selfish with my time. Don’t get me wrong, I loved raising my kids, then the grandchildren were a joy, but now that everyone is grown, it is nice. I am always ready for an adult get together, adult conversations, not having to worry about “where are the kids, is anyone getting into something that could hurt them?“ It is just peaceful and calm now. I can just sit back and sip my wine. 😊
Great video & great suggestions.. BTW I did not notice you were not wearing lipstick or the unbuttoned blouse which looks great on you...BTW I liked it when you say looking current rather than looking old. Hope you have a great rest of the week 😊
I think, additionally, it's important to not over-arch our eyebrows. We should go with the natural-shape (straighter/straight-ish) contour, that we were born with; that definitely helps keep us younger-looking, since God doesn't make mistakes ❣️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well... I turned 75 on this past Tuesday, and I'm happy I have lived this long. My husband and a lot of my friends tell me I haven't changed a bit since high school. I do love to look put together and current. I still love my denim. I wear it 95% of the time. I husband always tells me I look neat in all of my clothes. I love that compliment. ❤
2nd comment my favorite slightly undone look is a wide leg trouser jean, jean shirt and a black lady jacket. If I’m running errands I wear Adidas sneakers, but can quickly change shoes and jewelry for a nice dinner out. I did this last week, well and just a whole lot.
Great video! Welcome to the 60’s club! Only thing is we are NOT old! So get that out of your head!! 😁As my Dad used to say never act your age it’s not any fun! Love the advice about being current with your hair. I still have friends who have the same hairstyle since high school! You have helped me work on my wardrobe and I think I am doing Ok. Love your channel!
I love your blouse-it looks so nice on you!!! Although I can’t justify the price, I did purchase a lovely affordable silk blouse from Quince after watching your sponsored video. Thanks for all of your very helpful tips!!!
I wear the pop of red and leopard look even when it is not in trend and wear it every fall and Winter, just more so when it is trending. I wear my hair medium short to almost shoulder length. I also have it colored every six weeks with a cut. I cannot go gray, on me as a brunette it would make me look older. I have been going through pictures when I was younger with short hair, and I think it made me look older. I have talked to my hairdresser about it, and she told me to be me. I agree having really long hair without any style does make us look older.
Really like your tips…I am more purposeful in choosing what I wear. The condition of my hair really discourages me…thinning. It looks crazy every morning when I wake up so I have to wash it each day to get it in some kind of order, but wish I could do like you…just every 3 or 4 days.
Thanks For Sharing Kay Your An Absolute Friend And I Thank You For Your Suggestions !!! I Love My Age Because Who Knows I Can Parrish Any Day But I Won't Worry About That Now And Life Is Good For Me And I Love It !!!Kay And I Love All Of Your Outfits They Bring The Best Out Of You !!!Also You're Divine Image And Ballet Flats Shoes .!!! Well Take Care And I Hope To See You Next Week Bye-Bye Kay..!!!
Im free to do my hobbies and travel with my husband Celebrate fun times with my adult children and grandchildren Wear dresses and try not to be matchy matchy I do have that issue I love all your videos you are my favorite style inspiration ❤
I also learned in a self defence course that a confident posture is key to safety prevention from being targeted for crimes.
Good point!
@@AA-jn3oc Very true. They look for victims.
I agree. I am 81 and have collarbone length still naturally brown hair. The cut is intentional, and a ponytail looks great on me.
I applaud you that you still care enough to look your best and be you.
How nice ! As a boomer , remember my mother's friends who had similar length hair & how elegant they looked w/ a hair in a bun or French twist / chignon , even when dressed casually . I LOVE your haircut, Kay!!!
It frames your face beautifully and looks pretty and natural!
😊 Thank you so much.

Talbots shopper, too! MUST stop buying indigo clothes!!! I have moved to burgundy lately. Ha!

Great points, I always tell my kids I don’t mind getting older I just don’t want to look old. Thanks for keeping us current
Me too! Thanks for being here!😊
I LOVE your philosophy about aiming to look modern, not younger!
You look gorgeous in that blouse! I enjoyed your hair demonstration. I actually loved it best before the flat iron when it was full and natural. You’re fortunate to have great hair and have so many beautiful choices.
I also liked the video, doing you hair, etc...I also liked your hair before the flat iron.
Thanks for watching!😊
Me too
79 yo & have used Better not Younger products for a couple years. Absolutely the best for my hair. I now have full looking hair! Love it!!
Yay! So glad you included hairstyling in this. Thanks for this video!

I love your hair when some pieces are straight, pulled forward by your face- so flattering and avoids that triangle shape which ages me. Great video!

Your haircut looks fabulous! Great video.
I actually really love your hair style at the moment ❤
Thank you!😊
I'm 71 and work at staying current as I encounter customers since I am a photographer that deals with people usually younger than I am.
My husband
Gae her a $15 dollar tip for a $28 bill. We were very happy! I look younger
Where did you get a haircut for only $28?! That's awesome! 😄😉
Excellent video! Thank you. This wise message provides me with food for thought, time for personal reflection, and a shell for my Immediate action plan. Again, thank you, My Friend.
Thank you for being here! 😊
I really agree about looking like an ad for a clothing brand and/or to classically tailored. I believe you can have more than one look. You can be classic but also mix it up.
Your videos are such high quality. Yes, about looking a little undone. Put together with a slight undoneness.
Thanks Kay for all the tips.
Thanks for watching!😊
Thank you again for another great video. An observation I’ve made is that many women do not possess hair styling skills and wear long shapeless hair as a default hairstyle for that reason. We know they would look more attractive with one of the beautiful styles you showed today. Be thankful if you can style your own hair. I’m 65 and starting the process of letting my hair go gray. It comes to the bottom of my neck and I’m hoping it will look okay.
Thanks Kay! I’ve been looking older than I am lately 🤣 so these are great tips!!!
Great tips, Kay. I always look forward to your Wednesday videos. I find that I can't wear black near my face as I used to. I am almost 68 and I am embracing this stage of my life. I am enjoying my grandkids most of all. They keep me younger.
That great! Thanks for sharing!😊
You always look beautiful, and I LOVE YOUR HAIR !!!!
Thank you!😊
You look so beautiful! I love your hair! I will be 60 in January. Thank you, Kay ❤😊
Thank you!☺️
Your eyes are so pretty Kay!
You are warm! Try "Spring" colors ...clear, warm,, especially Coral. I was done incorrectly, as a Cool. I resisted when a different consultant changed my season. It changed my life! The BEST change to making me look younger!
No, I'm not warm at all. Please consider that you are seeing me with lots of lighting. I have never been warm in my life, not even with a tan.
Your ideas are really making me think. Love your video.
Glad you enjoyed it!😊
Loved your video on how hair can increase your age. Would like to see more budget friendly every day outfits. Look forward to your blogs.
Thanks for watching! I am happy you found it helpful. 😊
I'm 77 and still vibrant! Being fashion-forward is part of my artistic creativity. I enjoy your videos and have a question. What eyebrow product and shade do you use? It looks really perfect for your skintone and hair color. I haven't found a shade that's a taupe/grey like that. Thanks!
Our hair has to have movement! That’s the key. Thanks for the video. Cheers
I wonder what blow dryer you are using? It looks lightweight and like the diffuser actually stays in place. Would you mind providing the name of it?
Your hair looks cute and sassy. Makes you look younger. I don’t understand why older women want long hair. It makes some women look older when their hair is longer.
Thank you for the compliment!😊
Great tips! Have used Better not Younger products and really like
They are great!😊
This year I went gray and grew out my hair longer. I took a picture to my stylist who approved and we’ve worked together to get the look I wanted. I’m lucky to have thick wavy hair.
That’s great! 😊
Good segment. Really helped especially with the hair. !!
Glad it was helpful!😊
Kay you have such lovely thick hair. When would you use a flat iron rather than curling iron?
Great video & great suggestions.. BTW I did not notice you were not wearing lipstick or the unbuttoned blouse which looks great on you...BTW I liked it when you say looking current rather than looking old. Hope you have a great rest of the week 😊
Going NOW to get my hair done! Fastest way to perk up and face Fall. Thanks, Kay.
Absolutely!😊
I think, additionally, it's important to not over-arch our eyebrows. We should go with the natural-shape (straighter/straight-ish) contour, that we were born with; that definitely helps keep us younger-looking, since God doesn't make mistakes ❣️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don’t know the quote exactly from Ronald Reagan about Margaret Thatcher’s hair: gale force winds could be blowing and her hair never moved😂😂😂
It’s wonderful that you’ve aged so gracefully. 😊
I love your videos, so inspiring. I'm 60 and am happy being 60 too ❤
I love that. Thanks for watching!😊
It sounds like you are a dark summer, same as me! Thank you for these reminders!
I love your blouse-it looks so nice on you!!! Although I can’t justify the price, I did purchase a lovely affordable silk blouse from Quince after watching your sponsored video. Thanks for all of your very helpful tips!!!
Great idea! I get Quince emails daily!
Great video Kay! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!😊
Kay, you look lovely. Your hairstle is perfect. I must ask though, what is the NO PANTS TREND?
Great post! What hair dryer are you using? I need it!!!
I love your haircut on you! You have gorgeous skin as well. What is the secret to your beautiful skin or is it genetics?
Your hair looked great when it was wet!
That's what I thought! Without wanting it, Kay has created her beach-, pool- and sommerstyle for next year. And it shows her beautyful face so well. 🍂
I love doing Pilates 3 to 4 times a week, line dancing on Thursdays, eating lunch with friends, being a grammy. I love being 65.
How wonderful! 😊
I have already been taking screen shots of your hair to take to my hair lady.
I'm about to do the same! My cut is very similar but a bit shorter. I don't have the volume of hair that Kay has, though.
I loved this!
Thanks for being here!😊
