I wash all of my clothes in cold/cool water on the delicate cycle. Then I lay on a drying rack or hang probably 80% of my clothes. I have very inexpensive tees from Walmart that I’ve had for several yrs that still look new. I try to keep knits and sweaters/cardigans pill free with a shaver. I don’t have a large clothing budget as I’m retired on a smallish amount of money. So I try to take good care of my clothes.
Excellent idea! I'm tired of my denim jeans fitting snug after drying in the dryer so I was thinking of air drying them but have never liked the stiffness.
I'm glad that you addressed this issue of fashion mistakes, Kay. Your videos are always full of well-researched, practical content. I found your RUclips videos a few months ago when I was struggling with negative body-image issues that were affecting my self-esteem and willingness to get out and about. At age 61, post-menopause, my recent retirement and too much stress-eating during the pandemic had left me feeling embarrassed about changes to my body shape and unsure how to dress myself. My tummy has been the most challenging issue and your advice about that problem area has worked a miracle for me! I love to watch your videos for the great fashion advice but also because your warmth and kindness just really brighten my days. So thank you for all that hard work you do and thanks for being such a lovely person.
Kay, this was such a helpful video!! I think as a young girl without a lot of money I was taught that you should save those beautiful clothes for a special occasion, but then I found that they were just sitting in my closet. What a great sense of freedom to wear them for everyday, not to mention that they just make you feel great!! Thanks and btw, that sweater looks great on you!
It would be interesting to see how you edit your wardrobe and decide which items to remove (and why). I’m sure many of us can relate to and learn from the pros/cons of your experiences.🤩
Love these tips, Kay! I just recently had double mastectomy and I'm not having reconstruction. I'm opting for smallish prosthetic instead. I'm just now getting to the point where I'm interested in dressing for my day. I'm still spending time in my pg's (4 weeks out of surgery) but today I did dress and makeup for bible study. Thank you for all this work. It is inspiring to me...but even more since my cancer diagnosis. Much love...
Bless you, Lori. I have a very young friend who is about to have a double mastectomy. I know this must be a very hard thing to go through. Be patient with yourself. I do hope and pray the cancer stays completely away. 💕
I am SO happy you mentioned a critical spirit (I am guilty of this myself). Thank you for helping me realize I can appreciate every woman’s individual style and freeing me to be the best me😊
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been enticed into buying something that just sits in my closet. Much better when you buy items that match and go with at least 3 other things in your wardrobe. TFS all these great tips.😊🙏🏻
I wish I had learned all these things growing up, but I am thankful to have discovered you and others who have helped. We’re all learning even “over 50”. And PTL for mercy and grace towards ourselves and others.
I think that when women feel their waists or hips are “too large” there is a temptation to hide them with looser pieces that skim over their entire bodies. The problem is that this makes every part of their body look as large as their largest part. Show off the part you are happier with. If you think your hips and tummy are too large to tuck a shirt, try tucking in just the front and blousing it a little. If you think your hips are too big, tuck and belt and then add a blazer or cardigan to create a “skinny” pillar down the front. Or don’t wear the jacket and just show off your waist and curves. Whatever part you are happiest with, give yourself the opportunity to show it off.
This was a very well done video; I love color and have done the color analysis and made the mistake of adding too many colors; buying the wow jacket or outfit that doesn’t work with anything else, having trouble letting go of old pieces that used to represent my style…the list goes on. 😁
This was just the advice I needed to hear! As a 57 year old, I know my style but fall prey to the influence of “the trend”. Stick to what makes me feel good, limit colors for a season as you stated to keep things simple and incorporate trends in less expensive items…jewelry etc.
Lots of helpful information, but the biggest thing I got from this video was the contrast explanation. I kept seeing people talking about it in other videos, but I didn't "get it". You explained it so much more clearly and I LOVE the examples you showed afterward. NOW I get it! Thank you so much for making this video. And my husband thanks you, too. I've definitely been spending too much money on clothes for a long time only to get rid of them after wearing them a few times. That stops today.
Some of the best advice you’ve given is to invest mostly in basics, adding in some trends here and there. I’ve been following this advice the past couple of years, and it has made getting dressed so much easier. My wardrobe is so much more versatile. Again, thanks for another great video.
This is a gold mine of great and useful content, Kay. Thank you! On the topic of colour intensity, or high-contrast vs. lower-contrast colouring, would you consider doing another video just on this topic? It would be helpful to see pictures of other women and what colours suit them best vs. outfits which did not suit them as well. A good example of high-contrast colouring is the beautiful Amal Clooney. She looks amazing in red, mustard yellow, etc. In northern climates, we are bombarded with black clothing, although it does not flatter everyone. I'd appreciate more detail on this topic if you can. Love your channel and your kind and gracious manner.
I am an almost 40 year old and I’ve just found your channel! I absolutely adore you and think your advice can be useful for ladies in all age ranges!! Thank you for this! I wish you were my mom! You’re an absolutely beautiful lady inside and out and I just love that you’re so helpful and honest! Thanks for the great content!
I definitely agree with you about not drying clothes. I don't put any of mine or my husband's clothes in the dryer. And my clothes last forever. I think I even read that the dryer can fade the colors of your clothes. You have lots of great tips in this video!
Dry your clothes inside out if line drying outside. Any fading happens on the inside of the clothes. Also dry your jeans inside out with the pocket linings open to the air. Much faster.
Great ideas to think about - and thank you for warning people about dryers! Clothes will last so much longer if you hang or lay flat to dry - colors, fibers, shrinkage etc.
I’ll have to go back and watch this video again because ideas kept popping into my head and I kept pausing the video to go look at particular pieces of clothing in my closet. Next time I’ll watch it all the way through with a pad and pencil in hand! 😊 Thank you for some great ideas!
You are such a great style counselor, Kay! Thank you for talking about letting your style evolve, trying new silhouettes and showing your shape. I love your videos and this is my favorite yet. You are insightful, courageous and loving in your suggestions. Wishing you all the best!
My pro color analysis 40 years ago has been a great guide for me, but recently I dropped a few hues, like purples and most grays. Even though they were recommended, so they don’t clash with my coloring, I didn’t feel great in grays and I always found purples too difficult to style. I like having fewer colors, actually, there is a lot less work involved because I don’t have to find items “to go with them”. (I don’t believe that black goes with everything, it’s not recommended for me and I look sickly-pale with dark shadows in it, so I rarely wear it). There are still many colors in my palette that I really love to wear. I think the tighter the color palette, the easier it is to create a wardrobe that works really well. I have also been choosing lighter colors as my natural coloring fades, they are more flattering. (Soft Summer)
I loved the point about tightening your color story for the season, I am a deep autumn and I love all my color possibilities (browns! olive! rust! brick! slate! aubergine! cream! wine! dark teal, dark greens) but I don't look or feel cohesive if they are all in my wardrobe at once. It took awhile to figure this out. I too never wear black anymore and I stay away from grey near my face. I think those colors don't 'do' anything for me, whereas browns/navys/cream-ivory-beige help me look and feel more energetic.
I love your reminder that we should be respectful to our husbands, children and ourselves by looking our best. I truly believe if we look better, we feel better and act nicer!
Finally getting to the point where I will spend more on basics, jeans, workpants. Haven't got there with tops yet though. I also tend to wash everything after one wear, I think pants fit better. I also dry everything. I am tall and don't need things to shrink!. I have a problem with not hiding my body. I am about 80 lbs over weight (working on it) but there is no way I'm going to tuck something in or wear a belt to show my middle! Lots of good things for thought!
Such wise and well crafted advice from a beautiful woman inside and out. I appreciate you so much Kaye for guiding me in my wardrobe development as I age gracefully into the future.
Thank you Kay for your sage advice. I am over 60 and have experienced every single one of the mistakes listed. Who hasn’t! Colour coded in my 20’s, have fallen prey to fads, have spent thousands on my wardrobe over the years as a working professional. I’m glad that you touched on the need to take care of your clothing. Yes, the dryer is an enemy to most clothing! Also, hanging your clothing properly is as important. Now that I am retired, I have downsized my wardrobe considerably. I have picked out select classic pieces that I feel are me, and make me feel and look good. I tweak things from time to time to keep current, but don’t get caught up in the latest trends, because that’s what they are, just trends. I made the decision that when I retired that I would continue to care for myself more so as I now have the time. It may be an update to my hairstyle, getting regular trims, getting my nails done, maybe a pedi every once in awhile, changing out my makeup to match my changing skin tone. It’s the little things that make us feel good and put together. I continue to get up each day, put on my makeup, do my hair, exercise and try not to worry about what’s going on in the world around me. Thank you once again for your amazing videos. 🙏🏻💕
Really like the advice about reflecting your personal colour intensity and contrast with clothing colours. I’m 51 & only found this out recently. I finally understand why so much of my clothing is in neutral softer colours and why I don’t feel comfortable in most bright or highly contrasting colours.
Soooo good today! I can sure see myself in your video! Your sweet spirit and grace come through as you talk about a very personal and often “touchy” subject.
You’re so right about trying something several times. The key is taking a picture of yourself in the outfit and looking at it over and over again. This is such good advice Kay, I’ve done it and it changed my perspective of an outfit from bad to good.
That was a fantastic tip about taking a selfie with makeup and hair fixed with new outfits, and then looking at them and waiting a few days to decide which ones look good vs making an impulse buy and buying quantity over quality. I haven't bought new clothes for years because I keep thinking I will lose the 10 pounds, it never happens LOL!
It's also a good idea to take selfies of yourself in old outfits. Some things that I used to wear now look dated and tired. It may be time to donate them.
Kim, I sew my own clothes. There’s a saying among sewists-dress the body you have today. Shift your thinking on this. You are worth dressing well TODAY. 💕
I hope younger women are watching you -- I wish I had heard your advice in my 20s (30 yrs ago). But it's never too late to level up your look. The tip about trying new things is right on. I recently bought some maxi dresses with prints on Amazon, which is the opposite of my usual solid tops and pants uniform. I get so many compliments and feel great when I wear them! Please keep producing your thoughtful content Kay; you are helping so many feel/look their best.
I love your advice on colors. I never heard it explained quite that way before as far as how to select your neutrals and signature colors. So helpful. Thank you.
Thank you Kay! I really enjoyed this video. I have recently had a couple aha moments regarding my own fashion mistakes. 1. Buying things that don’t fit my lifestyle- How many fancy fall blouses do I need as a retired stay at home grandmother? Not that many! And 2. Buying lots of separates when I don’t have the completer prices or accessories to go with what I already have in my closet. -For example I should buy brown boots to go with my nice brown top before I buy another brown sweater. Thanks again for being so gracious!
Each year, I make several fashion lists. I list the current fashions I would wear. I list what is currently in my wardrobe that matches that. I make a list of possible outfits. And the most important list is my capsule wardrobe. This is the backbone of my wardrobe for the season and what I need to complete it.
For the longest I thought I was too big for front tuck. But I finally tried it and I do love it. Looking in mirror and taking a picture without it and with it I see that it is a better look, a lot of the time. I also love a jacket, blazer, cardi too
In light of not hiding behind our clothes, I’d love to hear you address body shaming. I’m thin but am surprised at how much other women talk about my body. I’m in shape because I want to be healthy. Still, I don’t like others judging my body.
😊Your explanation of intensity is terrific! I don’t have high contrast coloring and always wondered why I never feel great in high-contrast outfits. Now I know why!
Wearing white, (pants especially) was taught so well it is hard to get past. But I love them year round. I always feel like I’m bending the “rules” when I wear them at the “wrong “ time. Thanks for sharing about trying new things or maybe I should say, breaking the rules! Love all you do. You are so real on your videos.
I just love these tips! Many good reminders that I've forgotten or need to try and a few that have already helped me so much. The BIGGEST thing for me was learning about contrast. I'm light like you and I was all of a sudden able to figure out why some of my favorite clothes were unwearable for me. The second thing that was a game changer was taking pictures of myself, full length, head to toe pictures in outfits that I own and ones that I've purchased and am undecided on. This is a great way to see what length your clothes need to be, where your waist is, what shoes and accessories are right etc. For special occasions where I'm buying a new dress, I love to bring several home and put them on with the shoes and accessories and take pictures. It's usually a no brainer which one I should keep and wear once I look at the pics. Thanks for using the word "relevant". I think that's what I want most. I don't care if I'm seen as stylish but I do care that I'm relevant to others and I think style can really do a lot to help with that. I would love a video about what different ways of dressing conveys to certain situations. Like is blue more powerful than pink in a big business meeting? Or if you're needing to talk to a dr about a plan of action for your health and you want to really advocate for yourself, should you wear a suit, jeans and a t-shirt, certain colors that might be taken more seriously? I'm sure you have thoughts on this.
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms Thanks, when I was learning more about style from 40+Style I was also starting a new job where I would have to meet with parents about their student's bad attendance at school. I really started putting a lot of thought into what I wore and what colors, for in person meetings and I think it helped me feel more confident and I wanted to come across caring but serious and more authoritative than had I dressed in my usual casual garb.
I LOVED this video. You spoke the truth about all 10 mistakes we make. I especially liked the wear a belt if you like - I would like to as I see it would add a lot to an outfit, but I feel my belly sticks out too much. I have to just get over it and try it!! Also, I've been taking the advice of buying quality over quantity, and having a plan for what I want to buy, and then buying it when I see it. all good advice!!
Very helpful video as usual. My main problem is finding the right stores, in person or on line, to purchase these high end but affordable stylish clothes and not be embarrassed to go in and ask for advice. I tend to think they push what they’re selling not what’s best for me.
Hi Kay, Well.....while I am guilty of a few of these fashion mistakes it was tip #10 when I fell out of my chair!!!! I have some kind of a dumb idea that nice clothes are for special going out occasions and so I have a closet full of beautiful clothes that many still have tags on!!. Very often one of my daughters will say "oh Mom that looks so pretty when did you get that?" and I sadly have to reply "two years ago". I think I have done this because many of our friends see me casually and I want to look special or different on date nights! Dumb right! I have to work on this! As always Kay, I love you and all your great suggestions!! Have a wonderful day and I will see you in the next one! :)
Love your idea of choosing just a few colors. I’m going to try this- my colors for winter are going to be my greens/blues/warm pinks. Neutrals will be ivory, gray and tan. Excited to try this.
Great advice, especially about trying new styles and silhouettes. It does take a while to adjust to these changes, but one might like them, or even love them, after some exposure. I think keeping a modern silhouette is so important. When looking at past fashions, one can identify their decade by just looking at the silhouette, it’s what defines a fashion era the most.
Great video. I had to order 3 times before I found the perfect pair of wide leg jeans that felt just right for my 62 year old self. They are fresh but feel just right for me. I had to kinda chuckle at my 33 year old daughter who scoffed at them. I wore them boldly to church this weekend and didn’t blink. She is gonna have to deal with the new look as I did when those skinny jeans arrived on the scene. Good ideas in your video, Kay!
I’m almost 70, tall, and a plus size. I still enjoy experimenting with fashion. I’m proud of my hour glass figure and have found ways to modestly showcase it. You are so right, we plus size ladies sure can accentuate our curves and look good. I also agree with having a smaller wardrobe of quality pieces, they last and are a good investment.
Taking care of your clothes is key! Hanging things back up when you've finished wearing them, and checking to see if they have any spots that need cleaning. I have a small capsule wardrobe, so I'm able to see everything at a glance (except the heaviest sweaters which I do fold and keep in drawers). I do hang lighter sweaters on satin padded hangers and this way they don't get shoulder bumps. I always hang coats - and yet I see people having them on a hook by the loop in the collar - not the best for keeping its shape. My theory of hanging everything is that if I can't see it, I forget to wear it! Not washing things too often is also important and definitely don't put them in the dryer. I am an ironer (call me crazy!) and a steamer, and I think this helps keep things fresh. Chanel used to hang her jackets out of a window to freshen them! Really good points - but I have to say, I've tried and tried to feel comfortable half-tucking a shirt or blouse - just can't get it to work. I am very short-waisted and have long legs but carry all my excess weight in the midriff and tummy. I won't give up, but by the time I get to like it, it will be out of style!
To Fiona Frazier:. I hate that half tuck thing. What's the point? I don't know who started it but it really looks stupid. Kind of reminds me of when a woman goes to the rest room and the hem of her skirt gets caught in her underwear. Looks like a mistake . I guess women will be wearing their skirts like that next and calling it fashionable.
.....Fiona .... I am also short waisted, have long legs for a woman that is about 5'2 "... and I detest that half - tuck ! The first time I saw it I thought ..." what is that ...?? that just looks like you forgot to finish getting dressed, okay..?!" I said that out loud, to myself! Lol. It looks wierd. No thank you. I kind of considered it a trend that I hope would go away and it's still around and I just never even understood women doing that it just looks weird to me. Never tried it, and have no desire to. Lol. Sometimes I think these people that come up with these ideas , you know... they they're trying to get people to embrace being less bored with their clothing and do something different with it .....well, be that as it may , there are other ways to kind of " freshen up your look " without resorting to stuff that looks silly. ( just IMHO). I'm also in my late 60s and I prefer a classic kind of wardrobe with a few edgy pieces like Moto jackets... really cool boots, fringed jackets , velvet leggings ... but I lean towards the classics. Always have.
I can see why people would dislike the half tuck but personally it has been a game changer for me. I think it makes an outfit look more polished and gives you shape without having to commit to completely tucking in your top ( usually isn’t very flattering for most of us!)
You helped me so much. and you put joy into it. I really need to get out more anyway, The year of the covid was hard on me. My Mom was dying also. But she loved clothes and looking her best even at 94. I know I am like her so I need to step it up. Thank you so much and I am going to look at my choices. I want to get out there again. Thank You! Joyce
Great advice Kay! I had my colors done years ago too but the problem was I just don't like the colors that are my season. Even in my 20s pastel blues and pinks were just not me - and now in my 60s they definitely aren't. So I just use them a little here and there as accents.
Kay I believe we all make the mistakes, thank you for reminding us not to do those. Sometimes your comments are enlightening and I’m happy that I found your station
All wonderful tips. Thank you, Kay! I am analyzing contrast now when putting together outfits, and I better understand why I just don't like to wear certain items together even though they look great together on a hanger. You inspired me to try a couple of new-to-me styles, with some appreciated success. Also - you look truly fabulous in that Talbots sweater! It compliments your skin beautifully and brings out your beautiful eyes. Love it!
Love your videos and your style advice has been helpful to me over the years. I use to be guilty of having too many colors in my wardrobe. I have since pared down and it has been easier to put together outfits. You are so right about trying new things. I still remember when skinny jeans first came out. I initially refused to even try them on. Finally, my daughter talked me into trying on and buying a pair. I love them now and this gave me the confidence to try new things before I dismiss them.
Thank you for speaking on these subjects. Many of us just need a little push to try something new and once we get our confidence up and we wear that new item we find we Like them. I really enjoy listening to you and trust your advice.
So much kindly and wise advice to keep us from becoming the dowager of our family! Lol. I have been working on my mistake #11: too many shoes that don’t get worn or that are uncomfortable. I’m trying to limit my shoes to those I can wear with multiple favorite garments, and to think twice about buying new garments that won’t work with any of my well fitting shoes.
I'm so happy I have found you! You are very encouraging and insightful, and exactly what I appreciate right now. I'm in my early seventies and recently invested in color analysis (again). Now that my hair is gray this analyst discovered that I'm a different season than I was originally told. I'm now focused on wearing several colors that we realized look fabulous on me, but holding off on many others. As a result I look about 10 years younger, my wardrobe is much easier and MORE FUN to work with, AND I'm getting much better at seeing cool stuff but realizing that I will powerfully say "no thank you" to that outfit.
I get it. You buy the basics that fit you and not something someone thinks you should need. Whatever is comfortable is great on my books. I might look into getting my colors done. I’ll try to find someplace close or online.
OMG lightbulb moment …. You showing the intensities AMAZ- ING !! The light and dark didn’t look as good as the similar intensities WOW …. You have changed my ability to dress better instantly !! Love it 💕thanks so much Kaye xx
So many good ideas here! I love how you explained the contrast in an outfit and how to fix that. Seeing the examples just really made it click for me. I also love the tip of not saving your favorite items for special occasions. I've done that way too many times, and then because I've lost so much weight over the years, I couldn't wear the items at all anymore.
Thanks for talking about contrast.... At times I can't figure out why some pieces don't look good together on me, and I think that is the key. I am changing my style a bit, and am wearing my favorites much more often. It does give me a lift. Thanks for your advice.
You are so well spoken, and I enjoy your RUclips so much. I don't think that I wear clothes anywhere near as gracefully and beautifully as you do, but I would love to. I appreciate the chance to listen to your wonderful ideas
I am definitely going to try the wardrobe seasonal colors. I am preparing now listing my color choices. I actually can't wait to get home from work today so that I can get started! Thank you for the great tips and inspiration - as always! :)
Kay, I’ve watched your videos on occasion and always appreciated the content. Today, however, the tips you gave were spot on. It’s obvious that you put a great deal of thought into this. You are an inspiration to your audience. I’ve decided to subscribe to your channel today after listening to your wise words delivered with such grace. Thank you.
Great video. I also air dry my clothes, it’s less wear on them. I am guilty of saving certain items for a special occasion. I have to work on that. I’m glad you added that in there because sometimes I don’t even think of that.
I JUST almost did this today! (buy something not in my season and a bit too trendy) My colors are very similar to yours, Kay: silver hair, light complexion, medium blue eyes. I saw an orange with poppies print top with bell sleeves at the bottom of the sleeves and considered it for a minute. I ended up buying a sheer black button front top that I'll wear a tank under, will go with so many things. Just now, I'm watching your video and picturing myself in that flowered top and thinking 'that would not have made me look good...' It's such fun to learn new things! Thank you !! 🦋
Thanks for the great video, Kay! The last "mistake" really resonates with me because I do not make it. I get dressed with nice clothes (usually merino wool), shoes, and minimal make up every day. My friends were amazed during the pandemic that I wore shoes! Also, I feel a little naked without a scarf. I guess I can layer freely since I live in Alaska and it's never too warm.
I am with you Jill. When the pandemic hit I refused to change the way I dressed (although I did wear less make up). It helped me realize that in the end I dress for *me*. The pandemic couldn't 'take' that away! I enjoy picking my outfit for the day. Being stylish and comfortable. Seeing my own reflection...
Hi Kay, First of all you look lovely and that print is so striking and great on you. This is one of the best videos on fashion I've seen and I'm going to watch this again and take notes for reminders. Thank you so much and I'm going to purchase some new stylish pieces!
Thank you so much for the great information! As I move forward into my new world of retirement I am so glad I have a guide to help me navigate through this new adventure!
I"m no size 10 but I've learned to not hide behind my clothes. I'm 68 and a size Large or 14-16 pants. I have a dear friend (several, actually) who do and after all I've learned in the last year through your channel and others, I wish my friend wouldn't do that. It kind of breaks my heart and yet, I dont feel it's my place to say something. Great tips, Kay.
Thanks for this great and encouraging video about to embrace our very own style. Your are right! For example, I always see women wearing beautiful kimonos, I bought some and tried them every Autumn but, finally I realized and accepted that the kimonos are not for me, they are not my style but that cost me money because at the end I did not use them.
I know I am a year late watching this, but I found it so helpful! Low contrast and low intensity is really important in my case: mousy hair (+ highlights), light brown eyes and pale skin. So you are a good role model for me.
I do my laundry similarly to you but after air drying over a rack I toss my items in the dryer on air fluff to soften them. Works like a charm!
Ditto!
I agree, I've put on weight over the Pandemic and due to health issues. I love these videos 😂
Exactly so!!
I started wearing whatever I like at home, even if I don't go anywhere. 😂For the same reason you mentioned.
Kay, this is seriously one of your best videos. I have spent sooo much money on clothes in the past and have nothing to wear. Thank you !
It would be interesting to see how you edit your wardrobe and decide which items to remove (and why). I’m sure many of us can relate to and learn from the pros/cons of your experiences.🤩
Great tips and I love your blouse.
Congratulations on finishing your treatment. I’m 17 years out. Enjoy your new lease on life.
Who could ever be offended with you, Kay. You are all about teaching and guiding for our good.... What a blessing you have been.
I am SO happy you mentioned a critical spirit (I am guilty of this myself). Thank you for helping me realize I can appreciate every woman’s individual style and freeing me to be the best me😊
We’ve all done it! 🙋🏼♀️
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been enticed into buying something that just sits in my closet. Much better when you buy items that match and go with at least 3 other things in your wardrobe. TFS all these great tips.😊🙏🏻
The peacock sweater looks so good on you.
I’d love to see your take on a minimalist
“Classic style”wardrobe for fall winter.
Thanks for another informative, encouraging video, Kay. Your positivity and desire to help others always shines through!
Thank you. 🥰
Exactly! 🙌🏻
Hi! I love the down to earth training and inspiring quality of these videos. ❤️🙏🏻🤗🥰
You done. ??
Wonderful!
Love this idea!
I agree, Mary, I find the colour intensity bit so eye opening and wished for more on it!!
Thank you so much. I’m really glad you enjoyed it. 😊
I definitely agree with you about not drying clothes. I don't put any of mine or my husband's clothes in the dryer. And my clothes last forever. I think I even read that the dryer can fade the colors of your clothes. You have lots of great tips in this video!
Yes I have ruined several things using the dryer.
And the wear your ‘tone’ is brilliant…and I think less contrast in an outfit is flattering and classy. Thanks Kay!
Thanks so much Elizabeth. 💕
Similar story and colors. Black definitely washes me out! Navy is my black.
Your contrast and intensity video was a game changer. I couldn't figure out why I struggled to find outfits that look good on me.
Kay! This is the best advice I have ever heard in my 67 years of life! Also your intensity video was the greatest advice ever! Thank you so much 🥰
Great ideas! And that blouse is definitely one of your best. The color is perfect for your complexion and your eyes!
Amen!
Really like the advice about reflecting your personal colour intensity and contrast with clothing colours. I’m 51 & only found this out recently. I finally understand why so much of my clothing is in neutral softer colours and why I don’t feel comfortable in most bright or highly contrasting colours.
Thank you Kay for your video!!!Very helpfulxxx
Soooo good today! I can sure see myself in your video! Your sweet spirit and grace come through as you talk about a very personal and often “touchy” subject.
Thank you Barbara. That means a lot to me.
Thanks so much for sharing , Kim!
Thanks for sharing. I love your videos especially because you speak from your heart, so genuine and sincere
Thank you Nancy. I really appreciate that. 🥰
So helpful. Thank you.
Gracious! Women encouraging women to not be critical of each other. Best fashion advice EVER! 👌
Another outstanding video. "Do not hide behind your clothes!" I wish I'd heard that 20 years ago. Thank you, Kay.
Kay, I love your hair like this, it looks great.
Thank you. 🥰
I love your hair behind your ears
Kay you look fabulous in that sweater. The colors are perfect for you. Thanks for a great video. All the ideas are worth noting.
Great to hear, Edna. Thank you for watching. 💕
Great video - - and that outfit looks gorgeous on you- - the colors really look nice with your beautiful complexion and coloring!!
Wow! Thankyou for a wonderful video. The concept of intensity and contrast was new to me and it makes so much sense!
Wonderful advice! I have to watch this again. Also- WOW! Kay, you look fabulous in that top. 🥰
I listened to this several times. I finally understand the intensity explanation and i found it very helpful!!!! I loved all of this information. 💕💕💕
Good idea! I’ll put some thought into that!
That blouse looks beautiful on you!
Absolutely. Thanks so much for sharing Kimberly. 🥰
So true...it took me ages to wear leggings 🤣
Great advice, Kay! I’m guilty of saving pretty dresses for occasions that might not ever arrive 😮.
You are not alone...I FINALLY donated 3 dresses that hung in my closet for over 8 years with tags still on them 😔
Great video.
This is such great advice. I love that you focus on less colours that mix and match with other pieces. I love your blog.
Great look with and without the blazer! The combination of pattern with pattern is surprising but it worked.
@@hildacollier2638 you’re right! I try it-but I don’t like it!
Same with me. Hate the half tuck but I have my clothes tailored to fit.
.....Fiona ....
Thank You! Joyce
Good for you, Joyce. Make a date with a friend or two and put them in the calendar. You’ve got this! 🙌🏻
Great advice Kay! I had my colors done years ago too but the problem was I just don't like the colors that are my season. Even in my 20s pastel blues and pinks were just not me - and now in my 60s they definitely aren't. So I just use them a little here and there as accents.
You should check out Dressing Your Truth!
Kay I believe we all make the mistakes, thank you for reminding us not to do those. Sometimes your comments are enlightening and I’m happy that I found your station
Thank you so much. That’s very encouraging. 😊
Love it!
Excellent advice. Thank you very much. Your top is the perfect colour for you.
Thank you so much for watching. 🥰
Great. Thanks so much for sharing this! 😊
Thank you for speaking on these subjects. Many of us just need a little push to try something new and once we get our confidence up and we wear that new item we find we Like them. I really enjoy listening to you and trust your advice.
Kay, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.
This is a great video! I never thought about not having all the colors in my wardrobe. Good advice, Thank you. Ann
I’m so glad those resonated with you, Carol. Thank you for sharing. 💕
The same thing happened to me this year. I.was sick. Lost a lot of weight. I had to redo my whole closet. Not an easy thing to do.
@@lindawilliams6152 I'm sorry to hear that you were sick, Linda. I hope your doing better now. Take care. :)
Thank you Carol! I'm Doing much better now!🧡
Thanks for talking about contrast....
Thank you so much! That is very kind.
Thanks so much for sharing, Donna. 💕
All good points 👀 I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. 💞
@@mamed944 The same for me!! :)
Really enjoyed your video…thanks for all the great information, you’re such a beautiful person inside and out🤗
Hi Kay, First of all you look lovely and that print is so striking and great on you.
Kay, this Talbots sweater was made for you. You look absolutely exquisite in it! Great, helpful video!
Wow, thanks for the prize!
Thanks for the prize!
That’s a hoax Patricia. Do not text them.
I know I am a year late watching this, but I found it so helpful! Low contrast and low intensity is really important in my case: mousy hair (+ highlights), light brown eyes and pale skin. So you are a good role model for me.
So well said. I am very guilty of not enough planning before I buy.
Me too!
