Thanks for your outstanding ideas about how to re-frame our concept of getting dressed! I get new inspiration from you every week, and really appreciate it.
Kay, I must admit that Talbots is usually not in my budget range. A year ago I bought a pair of navy pants and black - the best I could afford on a fixed income. I also tried to get the pants in a length, style and fit that suits me best. I have had so much freedom in creating my outfits and because I am not buying pants all the time my clothes budget can stretch to afford better quality tops. Thanks for this informative video.
Most of my classic clothes are from Talbots. They literally last for years, therefore, they wind up being less expensive than the cheaper brands in the long run.
@@Patty.198 Agree ! Also , Talbots has regular sales , deep end of season clearance sales & card member benefits . I've happily bo't T's . for decades because of the quality but only buy on sale !
You know we are so focused on size - instead of fit - we are afraid to try what really fits and is comfortable because we feel it reflects our weight. We women are so trained to be obsessed with our size...we should train ourselves to think of the size as a baseline not a judgement. Great options!!!
I totally agree. The “right” size for me has ranged from 10 to 16. And is it just me, or do you also find that the higher end stores size their items to flatter their more well-to-do customers? The same article will be an 8 in a high-end store but a 12 in a more reasonably priced store.
I love the look of the black slacks and the raspberry vest. I have that vest in blue and wear it all the time. I go out to our senior center in the a.m. when it is cooler (Michigan) and wear that vest and remove it if the day the hot. LOVE IT!
Kaye, I've been trying to figure out how to elevate my look without breaking the budget. Im 47, but still find your content refreshing and needed. I have 3 growing kids and often feel all I can afford is from 2nd hand shops. So many other expenses, limited funds! I like your modest choices. I don't work in a formal environment though but I want to present a good model for my two daughters.
I just love shopping in thrift and consignment stores! I started in my teens and I'm 68 and I still do. I'm in my 40's and a jeans and tshirt type of person but I enjoy watching your videos because my "dress-up" is business casual and you give a lot of great ideas.
Kay, thank you for the idea of the Tribecca pants from Talbots. In a future video, would you please discuss how to wear ankle-length pants in cold, snowy winters? I do have boots and booties but do not always want to wear those in the winter.
If the weather is really ghastly, I wear practical footwear, such as rainboots or water-resistant or waterproof hiking/snow boots. If it’s cold but dry weather, I wear some classy black lace-up brogues with socks. Black socks give an elongated look; socks with a colour or pattern that ties in with what I wear on top help to “bookend” the look. Warm, practical, with good support if the sidewalks are a bit slippery, and some added contrast between a feminine outfit with a touch of masculine in the shoes. My humble opinion! 🇨🇦
All of the outfits you put together are stunning. I appreciate all of the wonderful ideas to help expand my wardrobe without having to purchase a lot of new clothes.
These new pants look very interesting. I headed to Talbots soon and will give them a try. Being 5’2” I do need to be careful with ankle pants and width, but with the higher waist these might work. As a retiree, one nice pair of pants is all I need. And as of today they are on sale!
Thanks Kay! I am petite and curvy and have always had a tough time finding a good fit with pants. I’m a frequent Talbots shopper. I love their clothes, they are classic and I can make them fun with different jackets and shirts. Didn’t know about the by-appointment at their stores, so I will be taking advantage of that.

You look wonderful in ankle length pants, Kay. I don’t understand what all the complainers are talking about. Maybe they don’t look good in ankle length pants and therefore think no one else should wear them.

Ankle pants just don’t look right. Hopefully this trend will be over in 2024. They are too short!!!!
Thank you for the videos you produce. However, personally I do not care for Talbots clothings. My best friend loves Talbots and tries to persuade me to purchase items from that store, but they just do not fit my body.
I agree with the posts about ankle length pants. I think your outfits would look even better if the pants were about an inch longer. I find that my eyes are drawn to your ankles and not to the overall look of the outfit.
Great style tips
Thanks!
