Such a Talbots person. I always walk in and go for my size and it always fits perfectly. When I knew I was moving to France, I looked you up and found you and I’ve been watching you ever since and I purchased all my clothes before I moved here from Talbots by using your information and knowledge. I now have my own little RUclips following and I always mention you. I think you are fantastic. I’m 70 and now live in France. And because of you I don’t have to dress like I’m 70. Thank you so much
Talbott clothes are timeless well made and last forever . My tan tee shirt dress I bought at 18 is still a staple , I'm 64. It's been washed a million times . It's lasted an adult lifetime 18-64
How wonderful ! I'm 71 & have a T's silk scarf that is at least thirty years old , still in mint condition . I recently wore it while shopping there & the sales " girl " complimented me on it ; I then told her. it was fr. that exact store & its age . We had a good laugh about it as the sales "girl " wasn't even born yet when I bo't the scarf ! These days , I like to think that at my age , like my wardrobe , we're CLASSICS !!
Talbots is not the quality it was in years past. The company was sold in 2012. The styles are frumpy and the fabrics are cheap, but the prices are high. If you want to dress like an old lady, Talbots is the place to shop.
I live on the Talbot's sales. Their blazers are incomparable. Between Talbots and Old Navy, I get excellent staples for not a lot. Great example of how to choose a capsule. Very clear and understandable.
You are so right about Talbot’s sales! I rarely pay full price on anything from Talbots. You do have to shop carefully but that applies to any store these days.
I am a long time Talbots fan. And your assessment of their line is on point. Over the years I have carefully selected pieces biased towards the classic designs. After seeing your suggestions for a summer, there are some pieces I definitely will purchase. Your taste is flawless and your videos one of the very best.
Although I don’t care for Talbots, I think this is the BEST video on creating a capsule wardrobe that I’ve ever seen. Wonderful variety and everything goes together!! What an invaluable guide, thank you!!!
My comment somehow was cut off. I meant to say that as much as I loathe clothes shopping, especially at a mall, I don't dismiss any particular store. Talbot's is a bit above my budget, but the quality is somewhat better than mass-produced clothing from China. I have found a few items at Talbot's that worked for me. I live in Virginia in the U.S. and growing up I thought Talbots was just in Virginia. All the pretty, well-dressed ladies wore their clothes. So, as an adult you know I had to include some classier pieces from there. I am a pretty gawdy dresser but Talbots and a couple of other shops have saved me from myself. Thank you for doing a video using their clothes.
Hi Marie-Anne! I have found many classic items at Talbots and still think they are a great place for basic blouses, blazers and slacks. I would agree that some of the items are “frumpy” but if you stick to classics they are reasonably priced and well made. Great video! 😘
My husband asked me why I go in Talbot he said the clothes look like old lady stuff, but the basics tee and Jeans and some of their blouses are very nice and stylish.
Thank you, Marie-Anne, for explaining about shopping for both quality and price! That is so important, especially when shopping second hand. I own several pieces by Talbots, all second hand but still looking beautiful. Another brand I like is Ann Taylor Loft. Cheers!
I have been a big fan of Talbots since I opened a credit card 💳 account there back in 2010. I wore their navy blue sweater/blazer with white piping today. Oo-la-la ❣️
Thanks Marie-Anne. I have been shopping at Talbots for many years. About 75% of my clothing are from Talbots, from basic tees, denim skirt, dresses, cardigans, and belts. My coworkers complimented me as the best dressed:). I do agree with you that you have to know what to choose. I liked all the pieces you selected, especially the linen trousers. I will go there to try it on. Thanks, ❤️.
Hello! I see this sharing is unsponsored however I hope Talbots recognizes your education on styling affordable classics can elevate their their offering! Fair quality with options to put outfits together that are more modern is so valuable. Women at my age, that are likely their target market, need to know how to pull it all together. W. 🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦
This is my favorite store here in America! Every month they come out with some great pieces based on color coordinated themes. They do patterns really well. I have a white linen pantsuit I bought last year. I have the beige linen pant so I can wear the white blazer with them. I have the long denim skirt in navy. If I love a color that Talbots promotes with the wardrobe theme, I buy the tee shirt in that color. It is a great inexpensive way to wear the color I love. I can't believe you have not been sponsored by Talbots for this video. You did a wonderful job in making a French capsule wardrobe from Talbots.
Your videos now sound less formal but funnier and amusing to watch.. I like it😃 Would appreciate if you can please mention the material of each product like how many percent cotton and elastane etc. I have skin allergy so its important. Thx.
Excellent video Marie-Anne. Talbots has good quality clothing and I appreciate the petite section. This capsule wardrobe was really well done… as always, thank you.
My Talbots pieces have lasted exceptionally well over the years and they don't go out of style. I especially love their natural fibres...I love cotton, wool and linen...often difficult to find at an affordable price point. I have had a Talbots merino wool sweater for years that still looks fantastic. I love their colours too...they offer a lot of cooler tones which suit me. Thank you for this video!
I wore Talbots years ago and started looking at their clothing since they have petite sizing. I do agree that they can be a bit old fashioned. I love the pieces you selected and I did purchase the denim dress which arrived today. Normally, I would have never selected this dress. However, this dress looks fabulous, drapes nicely and is figure flattering. Many thanks for your wonderful selections and incredible style!
I've been impressed with Talbots ever since I purchased a pair of white pants from them that had the inside, lower part of the pockets made from beige, rather than white material. My mother had always taught me to wear beige undergarments with white so as not to show contrast with my skin and the pocket linings worked the same way. The beige was dark enough to work with many skintones.
I enjoy Talbot’s bateau neck tees with the 3/4 sleeves. I have 3 in black and wear them in heavy rotation all year long! Would like to add navy and a couple of colors this year.
I worked at Talbot's for 13 years and started there knowing very little about putting together a classic wardrobe without blowing my whole paycheck. I did know fabrics and quality sewing so that helped, and still helps a lot. They used to have their first runs made in Italy, then Portugal, then Asia. Even though they were the same item number, you could feel the difference in the quality of the fabric or weave. I still have classic Talbot t-shirts and sweaters from 20, maybe 25 years ago, still looking good. I thought that I was done with my wardrobe purchases for this season, but I agree with your suggestions of a linen shirt and the white denim skirt. I will get lots of outfits with those items. Merci beaucoup...for your thoughtful video.
I have purchased little from Talbots over the last few years., I found many items boxy and limited in design lines. However, recent catalogs offered more variety. I went to my store the other day and walked away with 12 new items! Much more variety in the store. I was pleased. Jeans are high quality again, T shirts, very nice. etc. Check them out, I did spend quite a bit but these pieces will be with me for a long time, I buy classics.
Thankfully I can sew, which enables me to have a much higher quality, we'll fitting wardrobe which I can actually afford. I haven't tackled jeans yet, but I don't like wearing jeans. I've immediately gone and looked for a skirt pattern and white fabric...roll on payday. xx Pauline
Bonjour Marie Anne, you did a great job giving us a feeling for how to make a capsule wardrobe, especially on a budget. I agree that some of Talbot’s clothing can look dowdy but you have chosen pieces that can potentially work for everyone. I am loving the sailor look of the pants and jeans. Merci. 💐
I love Talbot's classic pieces. There is a store near my Mom's that sells closeouts (not thrift) that is full of good brands, like these. Every item in the store is...wait for it....one dollar! Thanks for your styling tips.
I am huge fan of using a small capsule wardrobe for a two week stretch or even a season! It makes things simpler and sparks my creativity in mixing and matching. I bought the linen tunic and the slides from Talbots. I love them both so much! I had similar items for most of your capsule in my wardrobe already. Still searching for a white skirt in petite. I’m exactly your age and I appreciate your channel and content so much! While I’ve never considered myself stylish, I have always been told that I am, or called “put together”. I feel like you’ve helped me refine my style and have given me so many new ideas for how to wear what I own! I admire your elegant and chic way of living. 😘
Great staples video! I think Talbots has some great pieces, not in the dowdy category! I have some beautiful and classic, black, navy and white slacks. I also have the black linen sailor pants. I appreciate that they have them in petite sizes. Talbots blazers are also of excellent quality of which I have several. I also recently purchased a very cute light blue cardigan! I’m a fan of Talbots for their classic pieces!
When I was very slim (not skinny), I would shop at Talbots, but I am a little 'plumper' and live over 1 hours drive from the nearest Talbots store. There is few clothing stores around this small town and have to go to Ottawa, Ontario to shop so I want to buy classic clothing that I can wear for years. Also I have to shop in Ottawa for shoes so I buy 2 or 3 pairs at a time. Marie-Anne, you have given me good information on how to mix and match. Thank you..
I stopped working full time in an office during Covid but still need to look polished and professional for zoom calls and the occasional in office meeting. I’ve started to become a Talbots fan over the past year. Their pieces are classic and have style if you choose carefully. I’m coincidentally watching this video wearing a pair of Talbots linen shorts and a great sleeveless linen top with a gorgeous ruffled v-neck neckline!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I actually bought the sailor jeans earlier in the season. Love them! I’m glad you did also. It confirms what I thought of them. Great style.
I have shopped Talbot’s for many years and always find excellent items at competitive prices, most especially during sales. Talbot’s has wonderful sales, so building a chic wardrobe (as you suggest in this video) is easy. Thanks for including a video focused on this retailer! 💝
hello! I went to a local charity shop yesterday and found lots of Talbot tops in my size! I bought quite a few for $3.99 each! Including two marinas (one is a cardigan, one is a pullover).
I love Talbots, their pants fit me perfect. I’m a petite. I have a pair of white jeans that I absolutely love. I’ve been buying most of my clothes from them lately. I have their long sleeve T-shirts and they are really well-made
I ordered those jeans. Loved them but unfortunately I am between sizes. I tried another a pair of high waisted wide leg pants at another retailer and I must say this style is amazingly flattering and the fit was perfect. I’ve shopped at Talbots for years. I recently bought a couple pairs of their relaxed chinos, a dress and some tops. Love them all. Oh, and their peds for sneakers are fantastic. They keep my feet cool and do not slide around. They have a sale now.
Thanks so much for sharing clothes on a budget. These pieces are versatile and like you said, be worn for years. I was fortunate in finding a Talbots tee at a thrift store. It’s a brand that many women buy and it’s been around for years. Summer is just around the corner, so your video is very timely 😄🌹🌻🌼
Marie-Anne, a great video . I ordered my Talbots white denim skirt thru their US website. We have a Talbots Store here in Vancouver but no white denim skirt in stock. With the exchange rate US to Canadian (😞) , delivery cost and extra costs, it still was a very reasonable price as it is on sale . I look forward to wearing it with my Breton top . I have followed you for two years and have learnt so much from you . Merci.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur got my skirt a few days ago and love it .. It will be perfect for the summer . I’m 5’4” and the petite sizing was the right length . It’s getting so hard to find anything of quality and classic style unless prepared to spend a lot of money . Both myself and friends are finding the standards of the manufacturing and fabric is decorating . I do go to Vancouver twice a year to shop but there is a strong Asian influence evident in the stories and the style is not always to my liking . I continue to enjoy your videos. I find that Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfigerand Saint James are still one of my go to‘ s in our local stores . I do shop online but with so many website based in USA it is often very hard to try to return the articles if not a fit . Enjoy your new home in Normandy .
I have never shopped there but I will now. I just can not get into wearing linen no matter how comfortable it is. Is wrinkles to much on me. I'm not sure which one I would re-create. I haven't worn a dress in what seems like forever. Since I quit working to care for my daughter a 2 stroke survivor all I wear are jeans. BUT I am learning how to style them differently from what I am use to, all thanks to you. My eyes have definitely opened up. And waiting for the day again when I can dress up.
Speaking of "feeling the pinch" I calculated the total price (USD) of all items showcased in this video: $1,248.48. Just FYI. I so appreciate these style videos. Thank you.
I like Talbot's also. Especially the blazers, but often have to have the old school buttons (frumpy, at least to me) changed for pearl or bone or quality metal. Thanks for the video.
I loved the original Talbot’s founded by Rudie and Nancy Talbot in my hometown of Hingham which many decades ago carried beautiful Shetland sweaters, bright corduroy trousers and tartan skirts. My earliest school clothes came from that store, I worked there during college vacations after the buyout and was even offered to enter their buyer training program after grad school. I’m afraid now in my 60s many of their offerings would not be modern enough to avoid a frumpy look on me. I think J Crew, Ann Mashburn (more expensive though) and even Target might offer a more youthful cut to the classics. Having said that, I will check them out again. My tiny mother wore their clothes into her 90s and always looked beautifully put together! Thank you always for your helpful videos.
Hi Sarah, I visited that first store in Hingham! They do have gems among some designs I wonder about. But I have bought from them from 2005 to last week, and only two items in all that time did not work or last well. I still wear skirts from 2005.
Marie-Anne I was stuck being a woman of certain age not knowing what was yes or no and what looks good on Thank you for your valuable advice love your channel ❣️
I agree, Marie-Anne, with what you said about Talbot's. A LOT of what I have seen from there looks matronly and frumpy. However, if you look really hard, you can manage to find gems that are really stylish. I like those sailor trousers/jeans, cotton knit t-shirts, plus the fit/flare dress. I think some good brands to cover would be Ann Taylor, LOFT, White House | Black Market.
@@cynthiajohnston424 Banana Republic would be good too! I am not really familiar with J.Jill. One brand that I miss SOOOOO much is The Limited! I am still wearing blouses and trousers that I bought 10+ years ago. They are still in impeccable shape and the styling is timeless, so they don't look dated. The Limited was my go-to place!
With Talbots, the style and cut will be fine, but the colors and prints will be awful and frumpy. Not unlike the clothes sold on QVC. About 15 years ago, Talbots had a CEO who tried to update the clothes with a more trendy vibe and, of course, they were fired shortly after. The same thing happened at Lands End.
I love your choices. My favorite is the belted dress, and I would wear it with the slides and carry the straw tote. Even though I'm not shopping right now, I'm keeping ideas in mind for the future.
Hi Marie-Anne, how do you feel about the wrinkle properties of linen? I avoid it because I don't want to look rumpled when I stand up. Am I missing something? I love the denim skirt idea and will probably pick one up. Thank you!
I loved your review and was pleasantly surprised to see Talbots. I have bought from them since 2005 for everyday pieces and reserve the designers for specific occasions and events. I have only been disappointed in two items in all that time. I still wear skirts from 2006 and they do not look worn yet. But I rotate my clothes and gently wash them so they last longer. The shoes are high quality and last until I get tired of them. I have a couple pebbled leather handbags from 06 or 07 that I still use on occasion. Every season, they make classic pieces in addition to the more trendy or the more frumpy. I am a fan of their scarves and really like the feel of the silk ones. For my spring and summer, I have bought the t-shirts with lace or eyelet sleeves or trim. I also buy when they are made, the white cotton embroidered and lace trim shirts. The first wicker bag I ever bought was this spring's black wicker bag with a bamboo handle and a pebble leather flap with a gold tone metal flip lock and detachable leather cross body strap. Those bags sold out quickly but it is very stylish and the details are rather nice. The customer service is always stellar and with the premier Talbots card, there are extra savings and 25.00 in-store gift cards after so many earned points. I buy on sales or with additional loyalty points or sales and reserve funds for the higher-end pieces. The lace, embroidered or eyelet white shirts are sturdy cotton with a lining so I will wear those with higher-end pencil skirts and better jewelry, and everything blends well. I do love their jeans and I wear higher-end sweaters or silk shirts with Talbots jeans. Another combination I like for lunches or some casual social gatherings is a basic Talbots solid colour dress with Coach shoes and handbag. For Spring, they have a navy boucle sweater with cream trim, a tan leather flat with a black toe tip, and a quilted napa leather shoulder bag that appear to be inspired by Channel.
Marie-Anne, your channel is one of very, very few where I click the Like button as soon as the video starts - because your content is always fresh and interesting, and I know I won't be disappointed. Merci!
I loved this video! Talbots is one of my favorite online retailers as they have no physical stores in my state. I did try those wide leg “sailor” inspired pants. While they were too voluminous for me, they look great on other people!
Bonjour Marie-Anne, Thank you for another great video. I have begun shopping at Talbots, although our local store is small and doesn't carry all the pieces that are on line. Further to your recent video about colour, I went to Talbots looking for a bright linen blazer, but didn't find one. However, I'm going to look online and check out the selection there. Sometimes shipping to Canada is tricky. You are right that one has to be careful about what to buy there, as some of their clothing is rather frumpy. "If it's not a WOW, it's a NON!
I love Talbots and have quite a few pieces from them. Most of mine were purchases second hand at thrift stores although I have shopped in store as well. Their blazers and t-shirts are my favorites and I love their dresses. I am in love with the dress you show here but $159 for a cotton dress is out of my budget. I'll keep watching for it to go on sale.
Huge Talbots fan here!! I just loved this video. This is one of my favorites of all your videos. Just ordered the poplin fit and flair dress. What a lovely, classic piece. Thank you, Marie-Anne!
Used to get a Talbots catalogue 30 years ago! They did have conservative clothes, but some nice items that were classic. . Haven’t heard of them for awhile. Like the denim skirt. The little seersucker dress is cute. Seersucker is so summery. The sweater/blazer is nice too. Like the straw bag. I have seen others but I am waffling. Big prices on stuff made in poorer countries. Might have a chance on my trip to get an indigenous designed bag. Then I know where the money goes. Hoping to score a blazer. I bet the countryside around your new house is lovely this time of year! Enjoy!
I love both this and the banana republic factory videos. The capsule wardrobe outfit variations pdf was also great for BRF because you can visually see what the outfit looks like put together.
This video is great! Even if one doesn't care for Talbots, Marie-Anne gave valuable information on classy wardrobe stables that everyone can use. I really loved the white linen pants but Talbots online only had the tan and black.
This is very helpful! I am trying to streamline my wardrobe as it is huge, and not well organized. I do have it organized by season, but that's not enough. This is helpful so I can follow your guidelines! Thank you.
Great video. I like the classic items from Talbot's, but find their "trendy" pieces too frumpy. I have a few classic shirts and sweaters I bought on sale. They are well made and do last. The cut of pants and dresses never seem to fit me though. Their t-shirts are a bit overpriced, but I have some of their knitted blouses and wear them often. I love the summer dress you featured here. Might have to give it a try. Thank you for another great video.
Thank you for all your help! I really WANT to love Talbots. Their pieces look so classic, and I admit they are well tailored. But, for the life of me I just can't find anything in Talbots that fits me. I'm a size 4 -6 so you would think it would be easy. Something about the way their clothes are cut just hits me in the wrong places.
Bonjour Lynn - just remember when shopping - if it is not a Wow it is a Non! so if none of their garments fit you leave them on the rack and look for garments elsewhere. There are many places that I love the look of on others but they do not fit me either so I avoid them 😃 I did afew videos like this including for Karen Kane and others - maybe they will be better for you x
I love this video! One of your best! I also am a fan of Talbots and buy a lot of my clothes from them. Now I have to decide on what items I should purchase to go with my other summer items. Have a good week.
Merci beaucoup, Marie-Anne, for this great video. I love your explanations of how each piece contributes to the capsule wardrobe. I am an apple shape, but unfortunately, that lovely denim dress is too short to cover my veiny legs (especially at the backs of my knees). If you're looking for an idea, may I suggest a video on dresses for women who, like me, wish to cover their legs to just above ankle height. Your tips and tricks never disappoint. I appreciate you and your channels.

Here in nairobi, i can only thrift Talbots. I am always on the lookout for the brand because its very classy. I wish they can open a branch here.
I like it😃
Would appreciate if you can please mention the material of each product like how many percent cotton and elastane etc.
Those white linen sailor style pants are fantastic!
This is the most professional fashion vlog.
One thing to be aware of. There lined linen pants are lined with polyester. Kind of defeats the purpose of cool linen.
@@marycunningham3516 Yet as natural linen easily wrinkles, as in humid weather, the poly lining helps maintain shape.
Merci. 💐
I have wanted to develop a capsule wardrobe for a while. Thank you for a clear and concise list of items that would be a good start for summer.
I love Talbot's classic pieces. There is a store near my Mom's that sells closeouts (not thrift) that is full of good brands, like these. Every item in the store is...wait for it....one dollar! Thanks for your styling tips.
Love the classic style and comfort of Talbots clothing! Thank you!
I shop Talbots all the time. They are great for basics as well as suiting. I just found a beautiful pink jacket. Leopard silk shirt too!
I loved this video! I'd love to see more brand capsule wardrobes that include plus sizes.
hello! I went to a local charity shop yesterday and found lots of Talbot tops in my size! I bought quite a few for $3.99 each! Including two marinas (one is a cardigan, one is a pullover).
I “shop” from my own closet most of the time because most of my clothes come from Talbots and I love their classic styles. Great tutorial video! ❤️
I also like to shop at Ann Taylor. They also have some classic pieces that are age appropriate. 😃
Marie Anne, you look so beautiful in red, it is definitely your color!
What a beautifully put-together summer wardrobe! Even if we don't buy these exact pieces, there is so much inspiration here 👏🥰
I always shop at Talbots. Their clothes are distinctive, well made, and fit well.
Love ❤️ Talbots!!! Thank you Marie Anne!!! You are so beautiful 😍 😍😍
Thanks, Marie-Anne! I have quite a few items from Talbots. One of the few stores we have in town so I can actually try the clothes on!
Love your red jersey Mare-Anne. That’s a WOW!
I buy many things from Talbots but I never choose the frumpy pieces! Ty!
Marie-Anne
I was stuck being a woman of certain age not knowing what was yes or no and what looks good on Thank you for your valuable advice love your channel ❣️
Love your tomato red sweater style - blends with your warm coloring wow.
Sheri here! I love this video and love Talbots! Thanks for sharing this capsule of great pieces! Would love to see more videos like this❤️
Brilliant!! I have many of those pieces already but now know what to add to finish building out my summer capsule wardrobe.
Yayyyy🙌
I agree, Marie-Anne, with what you said about Talbot's. A LOT of what I have seen from there looks matronly and frumpy. However, if you look really hard, you can manage to find gems that are really stylish. I like those sailor trousers/jeans, cotton knit t-shirts, plus the fit/flare dress.
I think some good brands to cover would be Ann Taylor, LOFT, White House | Black Market.
Also J.Jill !
Agree about the other brands and what you said about the sailor trousers and t shirts
Thank you for doing a shopping trip at Talbots. It's my favorite place to shop. My clothing is beautiful and stylish.
Thank you!
I love Talbots. Quality products that last forever.
Merci!
You are so welcome 🤗
So many cute styles! I would wear all of them!
I loved this video! Talbots is one of my favorite online retailers as they have no physical stores in my state. I did try those wide leg “sailor” inspired pants. While they were too voluminous for me, they look great on other people!
I finally found the perfect Breton shirt! I ordered a white and navy Breton cotton t- shirt from Saint James and I love it!
I love Talbots and their classic clothing. Sadly they have gone from the UK but I still have some of their quality pieces.
Bonjour Marie-Anne,
Thank you for another great video.
Thank you for your US affordable suggestions. You’re amazing.
This video is great! Even if one doesn't care for Talbots, Marie-Anne gave valuable information on classy wardrobe stables that everyone can use.
I really loved the white linen pants but Talbots online only had the tan and black.
Love the 'stuck in the past' example😂
Another great video…if you haven’t already done so, please tell us what essentials you carry in your handbag. Thanks
Love your channel Marie-Anne! Would love suggestions for petite women.
I have done very many videos for my lovely Petite Ladies Joan - there is a playlist and also a very recent video here ruclips.net/video/bJRr_yT5HmE/видео.html 😘
J’habite a Houston, ou le temps fait tres chaud, plus que 35-37C d’habitude pendant tout les trois mois prochains. Some of these are good but some might be a bit too fussy, e.g. the beautiful but lined trousers. Merci pour les infos!!
Excellent video Marie-anne 💓. Haven’t thought about Talbots in awhile. Those slides… very nice
Thank you for this! I like Talbots and can afford their clothing.
Hi Marie anne . I have nearly all the outfits you have just mentioned. Just need the tote bag and I am done 🙂
I still like to have long-sleeved tops in summer, as well as short-sleeves, it can be much cooler indoors. 🌻🦋
Thank you Marie-Anne i will. 💖🦋
Classy, no fuss, and comfort.
Que lindos modelos, me encanta la ropa de esta tienda.
