Hi, Kay, I wanted to acknowledge your giraffe brooch/pin. I work from home/zoom calls and I dress up every work day--full make up, etc. I wear my Mom and my Grandmom's brooches on my blazers. While some may think it "corny", it makes me feel connected to my past and the people who brought me here. A silent type of tribute to them.
Thank you for reminding us about that- I have some brooches from my late mother and grandmother. Sweaters and blazers are perfect for wearing them again!
I choose my outfit the night before including underwear, shoes and accessories. It’s easier for me to make those decisions when I’m not trying to hurry to get out the door.
I am a certified color and image stylist with Color Me Beautiful. I have looked at lots of systems, but I am a true believer in this system. Love watching your videos - I too am a woman of faith.
Greetings, Kay! I'm a new subscriber to your channel, but I must say I'm hooked! I have watched many of your videos, and I've learned something valuable from each one. I love your style, your attitude, and your emphasis on your Christian faith. We need much more of all that in our current world. Thank you for work I know it takes to do such a polished and professional job on your videos. You're a gem, and I look forward to learning from you for a long time to come. I particularly enjoyed your concept of using "systems" for organizing our "out-the-door" process in this video. Great stuff!
Love, love, love all of your ideas. I'm still working about half time (I'm 78), and I need to look good and stylish. Time to do a closet cleanout! I tried some mules (ordered on line), but found them really hard to walk in. Decided to take them back to Nordstrom and look for some loafers as I didn't own any. I put together an outfit of jeans (not my fave), black blazer, black/white stripe T, and I must admit that I look really good in this even though I'm vertically challenged (5'2")! Found some black loafers with a lug sole and now I have a new uniform! Thanks, Kay.
Long before I discovered your channel on YT, I found a lovely French lady who taught me all I need to know about reducing my closet contents to a capsule wardrobe. I found it wonderfully freeing! I have black, white and navy as neutrals, plus various shades of purple & magenta, as well as turquoise blue. My summer dresses, which are vital in our African heat, are colourful prints - really the coolest option for me, but all of them are in the colour ranges mentioned before. I continue to work from my home studio as an artist and calligrapher, but need to always be put together, as clients may turn up at short notice for consultations! I really have not changed my clothing style, which is classic with little touches of trendy - limited closet space ensures I stick to the rule of new item in, old item out. It works for me! I find saturated colours work best for me, albeit a bit more toned down in our hot summers...
I wear clothes that make me look and feel amazing. I don't follow style "rules" or trends. So many you tube channels suggesting "what not to wear" for the older woman.
My problem is it is still 100 outside. Once it finally cools down I will be able to wear something more than a summer dress…😙 I can’t wait to wear layers…. I am 68 and love to look great everyday..😎
I never gave up my matching (more or less, not exactly) footwear and accessories. It’s easy enough to get some shoes/boots, a belt and handbag in each of my neutrals. I love a matching set especially when I wear a busier outfit, like a print dress, it keeps the accessories from competing with the print. Matching accessories and footwear is an elegant, restrained, quiet look I love.
I’m new to your channel and have found each and every video I’ve seen so far very helpful. I became a widow this past June and haven’t had much motivation for much of anything. Since seeing your videos, I’ve been on a shopping spree with your help and a couple of other RUclipsrs. Thank you 🙏
Bless you. I’m so sorry to hear that. But I’m sure you still have many people in your life who are counting on you to keep showing up. Grief is such a journey. Be patient with yourself, but I definitely encourage you to keep taking steps forward. 💕
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms thank you. I have wonderful friends. One day at a time. I’ve been updating my wardrobe and am putting on makeup again and do feel better. Thanks for your kind words.

I remember in the 1980’s the “Color Me Beautiful” book that came out. I went to a workshop in the Chicago suburb of Glencoe. What fun - and it still works for me. I am a ‘Spring.’ 👍🙋♀️🥰‼️
These tips are so helpful! My closet is a small bedroom and overwhelmingly crowded with too much everything. I haven't tackled this task yet. I always procrastinate due to feeling overwhelmed and not knowing where to start.
Maybe tackle one category at a time, like either skirts, pants or tops, but not all three categories at once? This has helped me a lot, I’m limited by a back problem and can’t work for too long at a time. I also do only the items in the current or upcoming season, if it’s getting close to that switchover time. Of course, I’m not the best advisor, I have extra racks of clothes and my bedroom is a closet, too. You can do it🙂
I have been going through my closet for the last week. Of course, it’s warm again here. But the weather is changing. I have found some totes with some of my winter clothes in them. And I have been trying them on to see if they fit me. A lot is going to other family members. My oldest granddaughter had a baby. And she told me nothing fits her yet. So I will be sending clothes to her. My youngest daughter lives close to her. And she’s coming to visit this weekend. So I’m sending it with her. And if she wants any of the other pieces that I’m not keeping she can take what she wants. I haven’t put any of my warmer clothes in my closet yet. There isn’t room. And my shoes and boots are a mess. I need to clean out my closet for that. I know I bought a pair of loafers. But I have no idea where they are. I will find them, so I can wear them. I love the outfit formulas. And I will definitely be using it. When I get my closet set up.
I enjoyed watching this video. I dress this way every day. I always match the color of my top to whatever jacket/sweater I am wearing. I will say that I did not care for outfit #5. I would have preferred only 1 pattern.
Hi Kay! Thanks for sharing much knowledge with elevated style and outfits. Could you please share where you bought the maroon skirt you wore with the denim jacket? Thanks so much!
Hello Kay thankyou for another great video such wonderful advice. I tend to overthink it too sometimes but the tips on your own style uniform is so helpful. I look forward to your videos every week sharing your insights, your lovely warm personality and Christian faith thankyou ❤😊
Kay, I'm late to this video but I loved it. You mentioned that you have a link to a "color" system where we can figure out our best colors. Do you have any recommendations or links for doing our "colors"?
Well one formula might be a dress with a cardigan or a blazer. Another might be that you always wear a belt with a dress. I’d say the style of the dress plays a big part in the formula, too. So if there is a particular style of dress you gravitate to, learn how to style it in a way you love and feel good in. Then perfect that as a formula in your closet. 💕

Great video Kay. Are you wearing the Rebellious Rose lipstick here? It looks lovely. You've inspired me to go shorter with my hair too. The 2 by 2 outfit formulas will be fun to try to duplicate. Have a blessed day.

Hi Kay - love this video very much. Could you please tell us how you keep your cashmere sweaters nice (ie no pilling) and I guess all sweaters? Thank you :)
If you buy 100% merino wool, it won’t pill. I learned that only a few years ago and it makes things so much easier. I love cashmere but not getting rid of those pills!! I have more cashmere than I care to take care of. 😩
Great tips Kay. I have watched many of your videos but first time commenter. In your skin care basket you had a pink headband that looked like it had several rows of stitching. Are those stitches a narrow elastic? If so I have one like that (I’ve had it for years) and need to replace it. I can not find one like it. Would you share where you got your headband? Thank you for all you do. Many of you tips have gone into my makeup and dressing routine.
My cold-weather uniform is a cashmere sweater dress, or knit skirt set, over a silk shirt or tee. I’m mostly at home, and this is the most comfortable for me (I wear long socks or tights to keep my legs warm). To go out, I just add boots and a wool blazer or coat, and perhaps a belt of scarf. I can’t get a decent fit in jeans or trousers, but I just added a cotton/silk blend matching joggers and hoodie set from the White Company that I love. (I’m really limited in my choices because I can’t tolerate any synthetic fibers, this adds significantly to my wardrobe cost, too).
