Hi , I’m 5’4 so I think straight leg pants or boot cuts are best for me. I’m thrilled to hear loafers are back! I need to insert a lift in my left heel, so I’m hoping to find loafers that have removable insoles.
Kay, I absolutely love your videos and your fashion advice. My personal preference is for straight leg jeans with loafers, sneakers or ballet flats. I also appreciate your reminders to be kind and respectful of other people’s personal preferences. Debbie
I’m past 65 and wear what ever I want as long as I’m modest, neat , and clean. I appreciate these tips though because I think if I put forth more effort, I’ll feel better. Thanks for the tips👍🏽💕!!!!
Hi Kay! I know this video is about shoes, but I wanted to share an amazing jean option. I don’t normally shop or think of JC pennys but they have a great Jean option that I think your subscribers might enjoy. It’s the St John’s Bay midrise secretly slender straight leg jean. It comes in several rinses. I am 4-11 and it comes in petite too. They work for several body types. I would love to see you try these. I love high end options but to my mind these are a great option.
Wonderful! Are these the ones you're talking about? rstyle.me/+RdOCDim67cxqIUtPlu2ISQ Great price! I'll have to give those a try. I've been looking for some new straight leg jeans in a dark wash and it looks like those are available in several nice washes as well as petites, talls and plus sizes.
Yes these are the ones! I am petite and carry my weight in my hips and thighs. My best friend is tall and Carrie’s her weight in her stomach- they work for both of us!
Thank you for sharing! I'm going to check them out. I have a closet full of jeans yet always end up wearing the same 2 pairs for comfort and fit sake. Democracy absolution fit me well but are hard to find.
Many of these shoes are cute for going to lunch or where you aren’t walking much but give little support to your feet. I would love to see some really stylish comfortable shoes.
Actually, I could walk all day in my lugsole loafers or boots. And of course my sneakers are very comfortable too. And, now that I think about it, the Ally shoes I showed are some of my most comfortable. So I’m not sure what you’re looking for. But thank you for sharing your thoughts and watching. Let me know if there is a particular kind of shoe you’re referring to. 🥰
I’m so glad loafers are in, I can no longer wear pointy shoes😕Just ordered some loafers from Vionics. I’m a Calm Autumn so I’m loving the Cognac color this year. I’m wearing straight leg or flared leg jeans mostly. At 5’2” wide leg jeans feel overpowering on me.
l like the ankle length jeans because l am short and told all the time. l wear them with my ankle boots and sometimes with my sneakers. Love your videos and get a lot of ideas that l would have not thought of.
Thank you so much for this video! My go to jeans are darker wash, straight leg, with hem just at my shoe. My go to shoe choices are loafers and white sneakers. Cooler weather I sometimes wear low heeled booties.
I absolutely love the cut of a straight leg, full length jean! They sort of remind me of how jeans were “cut” when they first became a trend. Thank you, Kay, for this thorough walk through trending shoes with jeans!
Thank you!! I love that sneakers are on trend for those days when my feet crave the comfort! Love the loafers, and I especially like the dark brown tortoise heeled pumps! Wide legs are one of my faves...they feel good on & look so retro (to me)! Thanks for another great video! 💖
As someone who is a vertically challenged 5’1” and usually needs to alter pant lengths,I am thrilled with the cropped and ankle lengths. I don’t like cropped pants on me, but a “cropped” pant is a perfect ankle pant on me and an “ankle” pant works as a full length pant without alteration. At Talbots, I frequently check out the regular sizes, and if I size down one, I find these lengths swaps work perfectly.
Absolutely love your videos Kay spot on again today such helpful advice . It’s always tricky knowing which shoes to wear with the different types of jeans I loved the mules with the ankle length jeans just beautiful. Thank you and God bless you Kay 😊
Kay, the brown suede booties are quite complementary to the dark wash trouser jeans & the brown velveteen shirt. Those proportions are nice on you! The jeans aren't too short for the booties.
First of all I think you look great in Brown!!!! I really liked the Chelsea boots and I love the cognac color as well. I like the straight leg jeans best.
Hi Kay - thanks for another great video! This one is full of lots of great tips and I loved seeing all of the examples. Your explanations are super helpful - I always learn something watching your videos.
Like the look of ankle length jeans. NIce when you want something that aren't crop pants or shorts. Works for spring, summer or fall. Just a slightly different look. But doesn't works for everyone. Do what works.
I love the congac shoes, one of my favorites as well. I got a pair of congac loafers from Clarks a couple years ago, really like them. Great informative video today ❤😊
Hi Kay, I love your blog and videos. I am 76, and you classic yet current ideas blend with mine. I love to look current. I have a couple foot problems so I must try on my shoes, but I have loafers, booties and flats tha tall work for me. I like straight leg jeans with any one of those style shoes; however, this year I am on the lookout for a dark, rich brown. Thank you for all your hard work.
I LOVE your shorter haircut at age 60- I have been cutting mine shorter now at age 74 as well. I'm also learning a lot from you about going shorter in the length of my tops - much better for a 5" ft 2" woman-thank you! I'm a retiree now am on a tight budget. I have minor feet issues to work around; a bunion in one foot, narrow heals and a wide toe box. I do well in sneakers, and I almost always buy the Keen brand (may be spelled Keene?) because they cater to the narrow heal/wide foot person like me. I own a total of five pairs of shoes/sandal/snow boots; all in black and a pair of gray Keen walking/hiking shoes (water resistant) to walk my rescue dog on the open field. Keens are very well made but expensive so keep my shoes number minimal for comfort and to keep my expenses as low as possible. I am in year 6 for pair of black leather jeans boots and they still look like new. IF I must dress up for a winter funeral for example I have a pair of nearly new/barely worn, knee high Uggs boots in black. My two favorites are sneakers for summer and my black Keen jean boots for winter.
Your husband has a very valid point ! As a baby boomer , we ladies & girls had " coordinates " rather than " capsule wardrobes " & basic shoe colors of black , brown , white / bone , plus sneakers , sandals & winter boots . Life need not be so complex ! 🙂
He’s pretty much right. 👍🏻 But rather than just black or brown I suggest you choose the neutrals that work with your wardrobe. Men have it so easy, huh?!😉
Hi, Kay. I appreciate the way you model modern fashion for mature women, but also a gracious way to express opinions. I love the dark chocolate clothing and shoes you wore in this video. So classy! And you look fabulous in them. Personally, I enjoy wearing a variety of jean silhouettes. I love boot cuts with booties, as well as straight-leg crops with sneakers for a care free, fun look. I’m excited to review my fall/winter shoe attire and get started putting some outfits together.
Perfect! Have an appointment at Talbots later today to find the right jeans. This has been so helpful. Bringing several pairs of shoes along to make the choices easier. Thank you!
Kay, I'm so appreciative of all your suggestions & advice. I'd never have thought of adding heeled mules with denim. They look great & I plan on purchasing a pair...or three 😊.
Hello, Kay. I always enjoy your videos. I'm glad you included trouser jeans in this video. It was nice to see what shoes look best with this on trend jean style. Thank you.
I’m wearing straight leg and boot cut jeans below the ankle. And honestly I wear mostly flat or low heeled shoes. It’s nice that you showed so many options. I won’t have to second guess myself as much after seeing this.
Thank you, Kay. Always love your videos. Just my style. It has been so hard for me to go from corporate workwear dressing to polished casual retirement dressing. Your videos help so much. I was at Talbots today and tried on the Tribecca black slacks and I thought, "Oh...these are the ankle length style Kay is always talking about". They are different from what I am used to, but I bought them, and I can't wait to wear them. I also purchased their denim shirt, a style I haven't worn since my high school days back in the 1970's. But the sales associate showed me how to style the shirt and now I can't wait to wear that too. When she ever showed me the Canadian tuxedo styling, I nearly burst out laughing but then she added a couple of smart jackets, a leopard belt and a scarf and I thought, "Not bad"... ;-) Thank you as always for expanding my horizons.
I ❤ the ankle length jean. I am a huge fan of Talbots modern ankle jean. Thank you for showing all the options we can wear. I enjoy your videos and the blog.
To answer your question…I feel pettiest in flare full length and boot cut jeans. My favorite shoes to wear are booties and white tennis shoes for blue jeans and black tennis shoes for black jeans. I have mules for this transition season, and snow boots for winter/snow time. I don’t feel steady in mules but they are so handy I keep wearing them.
I’ll admit I’m not crazy about cropped jeans, except for my skinny jeans. I’m 5’7” and they look even higher up on me. But that’s my personal taste. There are some things like that, the heavy treaded soled shoes, and the partial tucking of the shirt that I don’t care if they’re in fashion, I’m not wearing them. But I’ve always been a bit of a rebel, swimming upstream against the current. 😂 I love the color of cognac and am trying to build up my wardrobe with pieces of them. I love those high heeled booties! And thank you ❤️ for sharing the link for the toe socks! I have a few pumps and sling backs that cause blisters on my toes.
Thanks for the suggestions for shoes with different jeans! At 4’10” I love the ankle jeans. I can wear them full length and don’t have to hem! I also can but crops at Talbots and wear them as ankle jeans! So I hope they don’t go anywhere!
I wear straight-leg (usually) dark jeans with sneakers or flats. I like wearing light gray jeans or pants with a turquoise top and camel shoes. I especially loved the purple vest you wore. I think it was a fabulous combination with the jeans and white top. I invested in 3 vests because I love vest and it's trending. I bought a black sherling, a black denim, and a white denim. I already have a medium blue denim, I bought 5 years ago. I really want a more dressy fitted black vest. I love jeans, but have a problem finding a pair that doesn't make me look like I'm going to fly away. I have narrow hips and a belly. I believe Levis and Gloria Vandiblit high-waisted jeans are the best fitting ones for me. Cropt jeans don't look good on me. I prefer them longer. I love skinny jeans with Long boots (otherwise I stay away from skinny jeans) I love to wear boots. I currently am loving cognac shoes (and bags), as well. Love your suggestions. Everything looks good on you. Keep-up the good work!
I wear jeans often ...and I love shoes ! I really enjoyed this video, and you gave me ideas on how to style (and elevate) looks with items I already have in my closet. ( I will have to check out those trouser jeans from Chicos.... as well as that beautiful Julia Vos jewelry). ❤ Thank you, Kay !
I couldn’t wait to view your video. Sorry, for being late, but I enjoyed it so much. Looking forward to Saturday’s video. God bless you, for all the enlightenment, and you look great, in all of them. Thanks for sharing. Ballet flat, is a winner by me, and I use them often, for it releases the pain in the feet. Thanks again and have a great evening. 😘👍🙏❤️✨🌟✝️🌻🍁🧡🍂
I love the wider leg and higher waistband jeans. I found a couple great jeans at American Eagle which was a pleasant surprise. Love the On Cloud sneakers and will be picking up a pair of those soon.
12:27am! Hi Kaye, I'm watching you for the 1st time and you are AMAZING, even for older 63 yr old folks! I love your jean styling and i have actually more problems with jeans fitting than finding shoes or booties! We have very similar tastes from what i can see, very classic, yet with a modern edge. Hopefully can find more of you on RUclips!! Thanks so much for your insight!
I love your straight leg jeans! Talbot has some this year! Also, if you are around 5' 6" you might be able to get a jean in the petite department by going up a size and get a shorter leg. I taught tailoring. All of your looks are exceptionally nice as is your sweater and lipstick choice.
Hi Kay, I am looking into the kitten heel slingbacks that have the black toe cap & the rest of the shoe is silver. I have a very narrow heel so this type of shoe might not work for me. If not I will stick to my loafers and booties. I like the straight leg jeans and the flare or boot cut. Love your videos. You are such an inspiration.
Perfect timing of this video, Kay! Just got some straight leg jeans in a medium and dark wash, as well as a color called Urban Taupe from Chico’s. I always love a good sneaker with my jeans, as you have shown, as well as a pump with my wider leg jeans. I am stumped, however, with what color to wear with these taupe jeans! I have some “shoe-ties” (like a boot cut off at shoe height) in desert boot tan. Would they go well? I also like the dark brown color you’ve shown. FYI: I love ankle and cropped pants on my 5’3” frame! Many thanks for all your advice and your graceful approach. You help me to make good choices as I move toward a sustainable capsule wardrobe!
I enjoy your videos with great ideas. I personally cannot wear pointed toe shoes because of my wider toe box. I like loafers, but can't get on the ballet flat train🤷🏻♀️
Great video, Kay. I recently purchased a pair of cognac loafers from ECCO. They are so comfortable and stylish. I love the mules you are wearing, but I always feel like I am stepping out of mules when I have tried them on in the stores. Do the Chico jeans come in petites? They are such a great fit on you.
Hi Kay! First time watcher and I thoroughly loved your styling tips and all the shoes. My favorite style Jean has been the straight leg with a bootie, loafer or sneakers. At 5’4” most of the wide leg jeans and crops are not the most attractive on me. However, I’m starting to like the Chicos pants and plan to try them. Thank you! Hope you have a lovely day! 🍁🍂
I have a pair of gray jeans from last year and plan on wearing them again this year too. I really like them with the black purse and shoes. I also love the cognac color. I think I might have to get a pair of cognac loafers. I was surprised I like the trouser jeans by Chicos, but on a 5’3” frame I don’t know how they would look on me. How to order a size from them too even with the size chart. What size did you end up ordering something like ankle jeans the lock but on me they end up looking like regular jeans, which is OK. 0:050:05
Which shoes are great with flared leg jeans? Also I live in Canada and we have several months of winter. So would love some options for outfits with boots. Thanks!
I chuckled when you said to have a uniform look. As I def have one. Mine, for work, is a comfortable classic look with a touch of modern. Key word is COMFORTABLE :) Would love to see a video on this look. Also, if I'm revamping my work wardrobe how much do I need? Like how many pants, tops, shoes, etc for the week? Many thanks in advance :) XO
Loving the options for jeans and shoes. I am most interested in how you keep your shoes looking so new. You frequently comment that a particular shoe is one you have had for a few years. They look brand new! How do you do it?
Love all your posts as they keep me updated and shopping with purpose and not just purchasing on a whim. Question - I’m 5’2” and wondering for petites if you have thoughts about jean types, lengths and shoes. The only place I can find pants that always fit perfectly is WHBM but they tend to be a little matronly for my taste. Thoughts? Blessings over you today!💓
I have a pair of ankle length, slightly fuller leg carpenter jeans that I feel awkward in but that actually look nice with sandals. So it's good to get some advice about how to wear them going forward. :)
Thanks for your wonderful videos. Love all the jeans and shoe option you showed. Which shoes go with what changed for me with the wider leg jeans. Right now I got all kind of jeans, from slim leg to wide leg, straight leg and bootcut. I love them all and I'm pleased how easy it is to choose the right lenght. Just about anything goes. I will wear mostly shoes till the first snow hits. After that it will be boots here in Canada till April or so.
I love your channel! I’m a bit past 50 (75!) and as my body changes, shoes become more of a challenge. I have to wear orthotic insoles for arthritic feet and many of the shoes you show won’t work as I can’t wear any kind of heel and sneakers don’t always work - style wise. Nor do ballet flats or pointy toes or shoes without heels. Have you covered this? I’m somewhat new to your videos and find them super helpful!
As a woman of 5'2" statue I love ankle length jeans because I don't need to shorten them. Yay! 💖
Wonderful! 😊
Hi , I’m 5’4 so I think straight leg pants or boot cuts are best for me. I’m thrilled to hear loafers are back! I need to insert a lift in my left heel, so I’m hoping to find loafers that have removable insoles.
Try petite sizes. Everything falls in the right place, including the knees. 😊
Me too!
I like different styles for my jeans. Having several gives me more choices.
I especially like the straight leg jeans and loafers with a lightweight top and blazer. This will be my go to outfit for fall.
So glad you like it. Thanks for watching!😊
Kay, I absolutely love your videos and your fashion advice. My personal preference is for straight leg jeans with loafers, sneakers or ballet flats. I also appreciate your reminders to be kind and respectful of other people’s personal preferences.
Debbie
😊
I’m past 65 and wear what ever I want as long as I’m modest, neat , and clean. I appreciate these tips though because I think if I put forth more effort, I’ll feel better. Thanks for the tips👍🏽💕!!!!
😊
Being a senior (74) and short 5"2", I love my loafers with a dark wash ankle length jean. Thanks for showing that look is still in style😘
TB from SD
You are so welcome! I'm sure you look so stylish!
Yes! Love them.
I will have to try them !
I love classic straight leg jeans with sneakers or loafers!
Great! Me, too. 😊
Ankle length flares! The flare balances your shoulders and especially hips and the shorter length shows off thin ankles and/or cute shoes and boots.
I think wide leg jeans can overwhelm many of us, and also add width/volume that I certainly do not need.
I love the ankle jeans and the crop jeans to show off my shoes.
l like the ankle length jeans because l am short and told all the time. l wear them with my ankle boots and sometimes with my sneakers. Love your videos and get a lot of ideas that l would have not thought of.
Thank you for the mention of wearing tan/beige with gray. Never thought of that. Love your videos.
Thanks for watching!
Love straight leg jeans and sneaks. I feel like I could walk forever!
Lovely! Thank you for sharing.
That plum color sweater and vest look stunning on you!
Thank you! I have been loving the plum colored vest!😊
Unfortunately, many places don’t carry wide width fashionable shoes.
@joycemoriarty3104 it’s true. But I think they’re getting better about it.
Thank you so much for this video! My go to jeans are darker wash, straight leg, with hem just at my shoe. My go to shoe choices are loafers and white sneakers. Cooler weather I sometimes wear low heeled booties.
love you in the wine colored sweater!
I love that berry color on your sweater . So pretty
Thank you!😊
I absolutely love the cut of a straight leg, full length jean! They sort of remind me of how jeans were “cut” when they first became a trend. Thank you, Kay, for this thorough walk through trending shoes with jeans!
Me, too. I’m really having a hard time finding just a basic straight leg jean in a nice dark wash with no distressing. Seems to be quite the unicorn!
Straight leg jeans are always a favorite of mine. I’m not a fan of boots so I generally wear loafters or tennis shoes with my jeans.
Wonderful! I love straight leg jeans, too.
Thank you!! I love that sneakers are on trend for those days when my feet crave the comfort! Love the loafers, and I especially like the dark brown tortoise heeled pumps! Wide legs are one of my faves...they feel good on & look so retro (to me)! Thanks for another great video! 💖

Love this Kay! Thank you!
I enjoy all your videos but especially enjoyed this one regarding shoes. Great tips on what's out there and what outfits to pair them with.
Thank you!😊
I had wondered about shoe trends. Thanks for the insight 😊
Thanks for giving the fall inspiration!
Thank you for watching!😊

Love your hair!!!
Good day Kay stay safe and take care.always enjoy watching your videos.God bless always.
Thank you😊
First of all I think you look great in Brown!!!! I really liked the Chelsea boots and I love the cognac color as well. I like the straight leg jeans best.
Greetings from Australia, where we are coming into Spring.
Thanks for watching!

Lovely. I love Clarks.
You can wear the light suede bootie with white jeans or white off

This was so timely, thank you!
I recently purchased two pairs of jeans from Chicos and I love them. Your advice helps me make better clothing choices.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Those first pair of jeans do look the best on you.
Thank you for dressing us, Kay-I needed guidance on what shoes to wear with the shorter length jeans!
Glad I can help! 😊
Hi Kay! Love your videos, keep them coming, I think I’m looking very chic these days thanks to your tips 😊
Thank you! 😊
I am wearing the cropped jeans this fall and am enjoying the change
Perfect! Have an appointment at Talbots later today to find the right jeans. This has been so helpful. Bringing several pairs of shoes along to make the choices easier. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! And yes, taking along some shoes is so smart. Have fun!
Kay, I'm so appreciative of all your suggestions & advice. I'd never have thought of adding heeled mules with denim. They look great & I plan on purchasing a pair...or three 😊.
Lovely! Obviously I’ve worn mine a lot. They’re showing a little wear. But they work so nicely with most jean styles.
Just in time . Going out this morning to go shoe shopping.
I live in jeans, and am especially liking the wider leg jeans that are popular at present. Great to see ideas for shoe choices to go with jeans.
Thank you for watching! 😊

I loved this video. I really need to get some cute sneakers to wear with jeans.
My favorite are the last Madewell wide leg ankle jean - they look good with ANY shoe!
I agree. They’re definitely the easiest to pair with. 💕
Loads of ideas again. As a petite crop and ankle length jeans suit me best. Many thanks Key.
Perfect! 💕

Yes, the Chico’s jeans are very soft and comfy too. 💕
I love your designs. Your style seems to go right along with mine and I feel good copying some of your designs.
Thank you, please keep posting. ❤
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing and for watching the video. 😊
I love your straight leg jeans! Talbot has some this year! Also, if you are around 5' 6" you might be able to get a jean in the petite department by going up a size and get a shorter leg. I taught tailoring. All of your looks are exceptionally nice as is your sweater and lipstick choice.
Thanks Kay! I loved the video and it was very helpful 😊
Was. Curious about that berry colored vest 🤩🤩😍😍
Yes, it's linked in the description box. Here's the link: rstyle.me/+Uv4Zy_3TavR3kEsnNIJd-Q
Loving the wide leg jeans but still struggling to figure out correct footwear and feel comfortable wearing them. Thanks for the great videos!!
Nix the sling back flats with long jeans!
The light suede shoes with the light top was nice. I think you should ditch the puff vest for a shorter jacket
Great video! Loved everything,
😊
Hi Kay thank you for sharing your information I have light wear grey but didn’t know what shoes or colours thank you for video ❤
Thanks for watching! 😊
Kay, you are a delight to watch!
Thank you. That is very kind. 💕
Hi Kay, thank you for your suggestions. Your fashion tips for the more mature lady help me look nice and put together. Thank you. Kaye Ratliff
So glad I can help. Thank you for watching!😊
Love the trouser jean. Just went to chicos and ordered.
I just found you on on Facebook and I love what you share ❤️
They do but the sizes are pretty limited.
Thanks so much for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. 💕
I have a pair of gray jeans from last year and plan on wearing them again this year too. I really like them with the black purse and shoes. I also love the cognac color. I think I might have to get a pair of cognac loafers. I was surprised I like the trouser jeans by Chicos, but on a 5’3” frame I don’t know how they
would look on me. How to order a size from them too even with the size chart. What size did you end up ordering something like ankle jeans the lock but on me they end up looking like regular jeans, which is OK.

Thank you for the info!!
Which shoes are great with flared leg jeans? Also I live in Canada and we have several months of winter. So would love some options for outfits with boots. Thanks!
I definitely prefer boots or heels of some sort with flare jeans, pretty much the same options I shared for wide leg jeans. Thanks for watching. 💕
I love all shoes. Fun video ❤
Thank you. 😊
So helpful!
Kay, you missed the most important fall shoe-the cowgirl boot! 😊❤ I love my boots with huge wide trouser leg jeans with a high rise!
❤ from Iowa
Hahaha! Love it! I just don’t have any. But I love it when women wear them. 🥰
Loving the options for jeans and shoes. I am most interested in how you keep your shoes looking so new. You frequently comment that a particular shoe is one you have had for a few years. They look brand new! How do you do it?
Hmm. I don’t know. I do have some that have gotten banged up a bit, so not all of them are in great shape. But I’m generally not too hard on my shoes.
I love the crop jeans. I also LOVE the Ally booties. I sure wish I could afford them. Do they ever go on sale?
Just the coupon codes usually. I’ll keep you posted.
I like straigh leg jeans😊
