Faux Stain with Milk Paint | Whitewashed Dresser

- This weeks project is a dresser that was graciously gifted to me by my neighbours. It had already been completely stripped of its original finish but then was abandoned in their garage for a few years. I really wanted to keep the look of the bare wood so I added a light wash of milk paint to even everything out and give the piece a translucent whitewashed effect.

So I wasn’t thrilled with the milk paint at first. Enter hemp oil and WOW I’m sold! Beautiful job, Katie!
Lol. You can never judge during the process. 😜 thanks so much for watching ❤️
Girrrl Katie, YOU did that!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I can just binge watch over and over. You’re a real master.
I have a few pieces here that need some love. I'll watch more of your videos for tips and inspiration. You are so official!!
Watched you before but not really went into a project with any confidence
The hemp oil tip was super helpful. Thank you!!
Omgosh Katie. ..I watch your channel all the time and I was looking for milk paint tutorials so this one popped up. I was given almost the exact same dresser. Even has the exact hardware. I love it so much. I just sanded off the finish and left it naked with all it's character. Yours looks beautiful. Yeah There was no way I was selling her. The woman who gave it to me said she thinks it's from the 1930's. Would you have any idea about that? Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I learn so much from your channel!
That finish is everything!! 😍😍
I’m binge watching you again today! Thank you
How lucky are you to have a sweet neighbor gift you such an exquisite piece! I love the custom color you used....LOVE IT!!😍
Its sooooo pretty. N that hardware wow. What a find
Love the finish, I think it suits the lovely romantic style this piece seems to have, beautiful!!
Im learning so much. I appreciate sharing techniques. I dont have to scour through RUclips as you share so many variations.
Ohh milk paint! I just learnt something ! 👍🏻❤️
Wow, what a beautiful piece! You are so blessed to be gifted such a lovely dresser
WOW talk about a step back in time, gorgeous piece of furniture 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤗💕
That is a beautiful piece of furniture.
Oh so nice and mellow. Great choices.
Beautiful & so clean & natural
My absolute favourite! 😍😍😍
I just adore this piece.
Absolutely gorgeous! Who wouldn’t want to make room for that in their home?
I understand why you kept it, it's special.
I can’t say it enough. You are amazing! I will be a first time home owner soon and I can’t wait to use your techniques on my furniture!
She’s a beauty Katie!!!
Awesome! Just the process I was hoping to try!! I knew you would come through for me!
I can’t with this dresser. It’s so gorgeous and I desperately want one like it! 🤍
I’m so new at this and I didn’t know there were so many types of paint you could use to paint your furniture. Which is easier to use for a beginner chalk paint, milk paint or fusion mineral paint? I’m from Rosenberg, Tx so I’m not sure if you have Fusion Mineral paint. Did it take you a long time to learn all these different techniques? I’m so excited to learn to paint furniture. I love you professional beautiful work!
I love it. It's the same kind of dresser I had as a teenager in my bedroom. I remember learning how to apply makeup in the mirror......good times.
Greetings from the UK! Beautiful project. Thank you for sharing.
Katie😍 another beautiful piece. Hope it adds glamour to your room of choice
Hi there; I am thoroughly enjoying your videos. So many wonderful suggestions and advice.
Beautiful as always.
I gave in and purchased an old desk and separated it to make bed side tables. My bed is in an alcove so the next best place to use them is in my bathroom on both sides of my pedestal sink. It’s a great place for towels and toiletries. Katie you are wonderful and I love your work. Can’t say enough about your taste and craftsmanship
Ok I am just binge watching at this point. Lovely piece!!
You have some really great and generous neighbors! Can't wait to try this on a chest of drawers I want to redo.
Nice! Go for it 😄
PLEASE! Put it in my house! Beautiful! 👍
Get some oxalic acid onto the dark discoloured wood or black stains a couple of goes with that and they will usually be gone though you have to do the whole section as it will lighten the wood as well, so easy to do
My favorite finish for that piece! Spot on.
Love love love!! The colour is beautiful and the piece is so my style. Pinterest worthy for sure😀 "Hou so aan" (keep it up in Afrikaans)
Since this finish is so on trend....I’m feeling happy I have not yet paint my hoard of furniture lol....love that look....thanks for sharing 😊k
It came out beautifully. Thanks for the natural products as well. My sister has MCS and regular products would destroy her. But the powder milk paint and hemp oil was very interesting.
I’m in love with this!
Loving your channel and the pieces you choose to restyle. Your choice of colours is fabulous. Love and good wishes from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. ❤️🇿🇦
