    THANK YOU! I'm a single parent -- so can't afford to hire help to fix things -- and my handrail up some steep stairs to my 2nd floor have come loose, and no stud to attach it to. I'll give this a try with the toggle thingies!

    I didn't know those existed the first clip. Thanks so much! I was about to do what another video suggested which was cut out a rectangular piece off the wall and insert another piece to the back of it... and then drill and slap some plaster. Your ways seems easier.

    We have a basement handrail mount that its mounting screws have pulled out of the wooden stud. Since this is about screws into drywall it doesn't apply to us. Any advice on how to keep screws in the stud when people have to lean heavily on the railing for support would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @homemend
      @homemend  Год назад

      Hey Bruce. You are definitely going to need to hit the studs sir. This video helps when you cannot find them but you will need to find them so invest in a stud finder, longer screws or beefier ones. I hope this helps

    Toggles are by far the strongest plaster board fixing in my opinion, can be a bit fiddly depending on how many you are using at once and remember the more holes you put close to each other you are in theory weakening that section of plaster board as you drilled holes close to each other, and when it comes to taking the thing down you fixed you will have to use more toggles and the ones in the wall will fall off down the inside of wall.

    • @homemend
      @homemend  3 года назад

      Awesome comment fire. Oh yeah. Those toggles are single use items. Lol

    • @msk3905
      @msk3905 2 года назад

      Agree I only use toggles, the only thing I’ve found that let me tighten the bracket to the wall.

  • @brianguessetto3777
    @brianguessetto3777 3 года назад

    I’ve run into the same issue needing to use toggle bolts for my handrail. Curious - should I only use two (instead of three) on each bracket? Assuming you did that to hold up the integrity of the dry wall?
    Thanks so much for the video!

    • @homemend
      @homemend  3 года назад

      Hey Brian. I only use what I feel the situation needs. Two will Definitely suffice and if the drywall is a little shady it may be a good idea.

    So what to do if the toggles pulled out... 😅

    • @homemend
      @homemend  Год назад

      Hey James if the toggles pull out I would try to run a one by four trim board behind the handrail. Secure the trim board to the stud and then secure the hand rail to it. I hope this helps
