    not many people know but that fantastic keyboard player has chronic arthritis how she plays the keyboards constantly throughout this song blows me away many many respects to candida doyle

      Yeah I knew this but it isn't well known. She is a hero in my book and very talented and huge part of Pulp's sound from Separations onward. I hope she is doing well, apparently she has had arthritis since the age of 16, but you can see it has got worse in her 40's and 50's.

    They look like a bunch of geography teachers on a night out but sound absolutely amazing! For a relatively small city, Sheffield has produced an astonishing number of acclaimed bands. Def Leppard, Arctic Monkeys, Human League, Bring Me The Horizon, ABC, Cabaret Voltaire. Makes me proud to be a Yorkshireman!

    Ive seen Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Blur, The Killers, Alabama 3 & Pulp in 2023. Pulp knocked everyone of the others right out the park. Unbelievable band.

      I like muse's style more personally. They constantly keep playing music with very little talking and that constantly makes it really nice because everybody is on one line without needing any assistance

    Saw a recent Brit doc about these guys.The bass player is coaching his 13 year old daughter's soccer team in Sheffield,and the band sponsors them.One of her team-mates asks her what the Pulp thing on their uniforms is about.She says"it's some shite band me dad was in."I like these guys.

      Saw them at the Leadmill just before they broke. Around the time of the Babies single. And the Razamatazz one. Up close and personal. It was fantastic. I met Jarvis and Russell at Avalon Studios too when I was in a band. He rocked up in a Hillman Avenger. Legend.

    The single best thing, to me, about this whole song is that the crowd sings along the whole song. And for some reason, that actually moves me. I'm not ever a big Pulp fan (rock/metal is more my thing). But something about having thousands of people gathered together and singing along is amazing to me.

    They played this first at Reading '94.
    He introduced it by saying;
    "This is a new song. It's called 'Common People'. I'm one of them."
    He was wearing turquoise shoes and a turquoise shirt. Black jeans.
    "It's all about colour co-ordination you know".

      +fakeaorta strangely enough i saw pulps last ever gig (before they regrouped) and the following band were the strokes. the singer had a broken leg.The Strokes were at the top of their game then.

    Unbelievably good. What a band! What a frontman! What a performance! I saw them at Leeds that same weekend. Up until then I wasn’t really too bothered about Pulp so my expectations were kinda low. Then they played like this, my 17-year old mind was completely blown and I was converted to the church of Jarvis. I come back to watch this video every so often because it takes me back to being 17, at my first festival and feeling free. Beautiful stuff

    I'm from Spain. To me, this song is just a masterpiece. I enjoy and grew up listening to many britpop bands... But this song.... Is just another level. It makes me wanna dance, sing and express my anger as a working class person all at the same time.

    The Strokes did a great show... but i think they knew it was imposible to beat Pulp after this performance. It was a true act of class of the Strokes to invite Jarvis to play with them and to show their respect for Pulp. Well played Julian.

    don´t get me wrong... I love tons of american bands... but the brits ... they just have a kind of class that you just find in the UK bands.... This is the perfect example. The perfect pop rock song.

    How exceptional was pulp? So many quality bands about at this time but this is a first class performance which would still have the crowd on its feet & entranced today! It is a dizzy height that very few bands conquer! Respect....👍

    This is probably the best live performance I've ever seen, can feel every bit of the atmosphere simply by watching the video. Gives me the same buzz I would get at an actual gig! Jarvis is incredible and its one of the best songs ever written!

    I hope somebody reads this comment 10,100,1000 years from now. Lyrics-wise this is absolutely one of the most underappreciated songs of all time. Pure brilliance. And this particular performance and the atmosphere itself - chef's kiss...oh to be in this crowd, so jealous.
