It would actually be awesome to see rules for Gue'vesa units on tabletop. I mean, Brood Brothers are already there for the Genestealer Cults, what's taking T'au loyalists so long? The Greater Good demands!
I keep thinking that a squad of Gue'vesa would be a good choice for a Kill Team set, and then they could maybe build out from there if they sell well. We just got the big Kroot refresh, though, so I imagine it might be a while before we get more Tau models. Would still be a cool choice, though!

Me and my brother discussed some potential Tau auxiliaries GW could do, and we mentioned a Tau upgrade kit for Cadian Infantry could be cool and pretty easy for them do to for Kill Team or something! Right afterwards I just saw you post this video!
Oh this video will be handy, I've been thinking of making Gue'vesa for a couple of months now but didn't know where to start. Thank you so much for making this :D
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA I’m just getting into the painting hobby and am amazed by the little amounts of detail you put into your work. The tau combined with the astra militarum is such a cool idea.
Alternate thought: for using them on tabletop, a simple way would be to smatter them into Fire Warrior squads. They add a nice variety to your squads, yet definitely fit in. That said, I'm actually planning on this as a project (a Tau force with Human Auxiliaries) because I already have some of the old Cadians, some stuff my girlfriend got me (Roman-inspired Guardsmen) and a squad of Tau Fire Warriors (a Kill Team lovingly named Se'al Team Six). Flavor for the force is they're from a minor fleet sept (world wiped out by a tendril of my buddy's Hive Fleet Hastur) so they don't have the "luxury" of being able to be as picky about who they recruit
Duncan, Awesome video. Ironically it makes me want to buy a box of the new Cadians for making...Cadians. Really outstanding video, as always, and I walk away with some ideas for some of my own armies! It does make me miss the really old days when White Dwarf would have more conversions and rules for them and such in various articles. Was always some of my favorite things to read, along with the really old battle reports. Have a good one!
Im in the process of kit bashing my tau human helpers into a breacher unit. Im using the van sar gang as the base because i think they look more sci fi. Then im combining that with tau kit, some imperial guard heads and tau helmets. So far so good!
I was dubious at first but on completion it's very good. I was thinking of converting the Tau warriors themselves as humans born and raised under Tau rule so trim and rebuild feet and tweaking of the hands with human heads would be it. I hate too much wastage and considering the price of GW stuff nowadays 😮 A very inspiring video, Thank-you 😊
I did some Tau-aligned human conversions way back when. The thought process behind it was: I didn't like Kroot, but I thought thematically, a hunter cadre specializing in urban combat would need breachers (this was way before Breacher Fire Warriors) so I opted for human auxiliaries. Anyway, only got one of them painted before I heard the call of the Chaos Gods to spread the Word. I still use bits from that Cadian kit to this day though!

At one time there was rules for human Tau auxiliaries published in a Whire Dwarf. They were just stated as Fire Warriors. There was also how to convert. Human lower torso, Tau chest, arms and Human head.
The T'au Human Auxilliay went well in the kitbash stages. Having assemble a lot of the Cadian Shock Troops for the past decade, their torso and legs are not solid like they were in previous sprues. I had that experience with the Kasrkin kits. You could use their legs for the T'au torso? Good tutorial.
I haven't been in the hobby for eons but maybe I could build a tau/gue'vesa army some day. That would satisfy two long-term discontents of mine about 40k. I could have some humans getting less of a raw deal than most, and also rile up the weird fashie kids who take the Imperium seriously. ;)

I'm mostly convinced. I'm not saying it's not a great paint job. I certainly can't paint that well. But looking at the 360, I think that the rail rifle gun barrel needs to be centred.
