  • Ironically the Faction that everyone seems to hate is one of the only factions that has friends. Today we'll talk about the myriad of Tau Auxiliary species. From kroot to vespid I'll talk about them all! (at least the ones I could find).
I always want to put out accurate lore, but I recognize the real and likely possibility I will make mistakes. Entertainment is the first priority of the Quick 40K lore series, and I always implore you to look into the topics discussed more in depth. Read the books, play the game, and watch other creators too!
As always if you have any constructive criticism, advice, or suggestions please share!

It actually makes a lot of sense. The Nicassar's evolution centered a lot around the warp, to the point they use it to perceive the world around them and move mostly by their telekinesis. The Nicassar themselves understand the warp, but can't really explain it to the Tau.
To make a poor analogy: imagine humans find a super advanced species of blind, deaf ant-like creatures that perceive the world and communicate mostly trough smell. How the fuck would you explain classical mechanics or electricity to them?

@@marcospatricio8283 mean a.) the tau could still research the phenomena that they create. As we see in the imperium you can still learn about and understand psychic phenomena without being psychic.
B.) the tau have humans in their society who are also psychers probably even a few sanctioned psychers and navigators who jumped ship.
C.) you can describe the practical aspects of someone even if they arnt capable of it. Sure the owl bears may not be able to articulate every aspect but explaining that the basics shouldn’t be that hard. I can explain driving a car to someone even if they arnt physically capable of driving one themselves.
Your premise assumes that the nikkasar can’t communicate complex ideas to the tau which is verifiably false given they had enough common ground to you know integrate into tau society

@@azurewraith2585 mate, I assume it's not the case, but you're coming off as kinda angry and putting words in my mouth. I'm just trying to have a friendly chat, ok? This is a silly discussion about a made up universe. If it is affecting you negatively, you should probably just ignore me and move on.
Assuming I just read you wrong and we can continue, I'll address your points one by one.
      a) I never said they don't. Keyword: "research". That means "observing phenomena and learning trying very hard to understand them", not "instantly knowing it". Research takes time and progresses in steps. The Tau were in the stone age 6K years ago. They are at most 5K years old. It's very plausible they just didn't have enough time to understand the warp properly.
      b) yes. They also don't understand the warp that well. Prospero, for example, had a massive population of psychers and thousands of years of study (the wiki states the very foundation of the colony was related to psychically talented humans), and they still didn't learn the chaos gods existed until it was too late. And to make things worse, possession among human psychers who aid in research must be very common, which is both a great hazard and a source of false information. Psychers and navigators are certainly very important in Tau research, and I'd love to have some in the Tau empire, specially in a book. But they are not easy and readily available sources of knowledge.
      c) I think you're misunderstanding my point, but I don't blame you. My background makes me forget how hard it was for me to learn and accept that. I'm a CS student with emphasis in robotics in my 5th year (which means I probably learnt this stuff 3/4 years ago) and let me tell you, mate: we can't explain or replicate lots of shit humans do. There's over 40 years of research on bipedal robots, and about halfway we just gave up on programming them to walk and have them learn it instead. Precisely because walking is so instinctive to us, we can't understand or replicate it's minutiae. And that's not the only thing. Edge detection is very hard, object segmentation as well, object permanence is night-impossible to achieve as far as I know, and so on and so forth. Manipulators are also very hard to make, and while soft robotics are proving very promising, we didn't even try to program these and have been using ML since the begging. I get that it is very counter intuitive, but these are the facts, and I'm basing myself on them to reach my conclusion.
If we can't put easily instinctive concepts we ourselves are capable of into words or to use in technology, do you really think we would have an easy time teaching them to a species so unlike our own?

Fun fact. Humans born into the Tau empire will also worship the Greater God as like a God unlike the Tau that to them the Greater Good is a philosophy. This worshipping of the Greater God has caused a new Warp entity, and the Tau themselves don't really know how to feel about it. Also, no, the whole thing about starlinzing(God, I'm bad at spelling, sorry, but I think you know which word I'm trying to say, right?) Is just Imperium propaganda. After all Humans are born into the Tau empire so they're not just converted Imperium citizens or warriors. Their worlds start out as that but slowly over time they become fully Tau worlds and of course humans are born onto these worlds and after generations they might not even know the Imperium exist at all and just do whatever it is Gue'vesa do on Tau worlds. Now of course if you mean that Gue'vesa cannot do the dirty with anyone other than a human in Tau society then yeah that's kinda what happens. But they are not stairlized(again, forgive me for my bad spelling)

I didn’t realize the sterilization thing was mostly imperium propaganda. Thanks for pointing that out, I think I was remembering older lore.
There are however humans that are integrated into tau society rather than being born into it, for them the reeducation camps make sense for the setting. Especially considering how strong imperial indoctrination can be already.

What we have: Kroot, Tau, Vespids (barely), Tau, Battlesuits, Tau, more Tau in Battlesuits…
GIVE ME THE PSYCHIC BEARS, BUG KNIFE BLENDERS, DISCO SLIMES (I don’t remember where I got it but they got slimes with powerful lasers… and act like everything is a stage play), AND EVERYTHING ELSE, JAMES WORKSHOP

Great video! Only thing is that the Nicassar weren’t the first to join the Greater Good, they were the first to join and survive 🙃 The Proctoon were the first to join and then shortly after they joined they were struck by a mysterious plague that the T’au were “luckily” completely immune to
The T’au then converted the now “tragically” empty world into the Core Sept world of Borkan
So yeah, the T’au totally didn’t pass the smallpox blankets out to the Poctroon and then take over their planet, they’d never do that

It was only after the Liber Xenologist book released art of them that it was cleared up, and the book made the confusion an in-universe thing by saying that some Rogue Trader mixed the names of two different Tau auxiliaries (among other mistakes)
