@Syntac Hey Syntac, I have a few questions if you have time to answer. I'm sure you are busy so if you don't have time don't worry about it. If you have already answered these questions before please ignore them as I must have overlooked them and I apologize ahead of time. I've watched your video a few times now and I've reviewed the other articles I've found that have been posted regarding breeding. 1. If I have a Male Dino with one melee mutation upgrade +1 (2 melee points) from breeding on the Paternal side that then breeds with his unmuated/base female companions, that then spawns a Female Dino with +2 melee upgrade(4 melee points) on the Paternal side, could I then breed the +1 melee male with the +2 melee female to create +2 melee babies without any negative side effects? I had hoped that I could combine the two together to achieve the +2 melee on a new male and then breed the new +2 melee male with the unmutated females to continue the normal breeding process. 2. I understand that you can choose to breed only melee with one male and then only health with another male. Is there any downside to mutating some into health and some into melee on one male through breeding instead of focusing on one or the other? Or does it just make tracking the mutations much easier if you keep melee on one male and health on another? 3. To continue mutating a dino, you basically have to keep starting new breeding lines sort to speak and then once you have a new "max 20/20" male, you breed until you have a max 20/20 female who then will breed with another 20/20 male in order to go above the 20/20 limit to 40/20 for example. New line + Breed with your female squad to mutate on up. #1 20/20 Male Breeds with a different line of 20/20 Female to create 40/20 Male. #2 40/20 Male then breeds with another new line of 20/20 Female to boost that number to 60/20. Is this correct? And I assume you would just keep BASE/non-mutated males in reserve to mate with your female squad. 4. I believe you went over this but I wanted to make sure I understood correctly. Once a baby is born with a mutation, you 100% want the mutated baby to be a male, not a female so that you can breed with the unmutated females, great. Does the mutation have to strictly come from the Male/Father side or can the mutation come from the Female/Mother side? I thought all of mutations needed to come from the fathers side so that when you breed with a base/unmutated female, the mutations could continue as the female is 0/20. I hope that made sense...as I'm writing it I'm questioning and possibly confusing myself. I may be looking too much into this. 5. Do the rules of "max level" apply to unofficial/private servers? I've seen a few people posting about how they have level 2000+ Dinos on a private/unofficial server, and even after a restart their dinos are still present. Maybe they are lucky? I 100% would not want my bred dino to be deleted. I understand that on official the level cap of 450 will apply and wipe any dino over that level but I wasn't sure about unofficial/private.
Dino Storage is crazy good now. Baby stats are pink/blue dep on which parent it comes from mutations will show increased in green and if a stat is low it will show the decrease in red. Color region information is also easier to read. You will still need paper but the information is much easier to read on the screen.
RUclips apparently knows I’m getting into breeding and recommended this. I was vaguely aware about mutations before but was mostly interested in the colors rather than stats, but I’m surprised at how in-depth Ark’s breeding is. It’s on the levels of Pokémon imo - thankfully not required/necessary to still have fun with the game but is an awesome, complex activity you can choose to take part in and I’m going to be doing this my whole weekend aren’t I?

This was perfect timing, i just bred my first creature today and will try to mutate them tomorrow. This was Short and had all the info you need to breed a perfect pair and mution stacking. Thanks for the awesome content!
Getting mutations is very time consuming, so if you do get a female with the mutation you can just breed breed it with the original male until your new mutated female has has a male offspring with the mutation
I play official and this is not how you breed a mutation on both sides of the parents fucks up the stats you want a good male stud with lots of low level clone females and if you get a mutation make that the new stud ect
I think you can breed them to get the same level in both but with different genders (That's what I do at least) and then you start breeding for mutations once you have the same stats/level parents (For easier way of spotting mutations)
Just spent 3 days breeding rexes wrong. I had 1 male and 3 females with 3 melee mutations breeding, I thought I was doing so well as I had never done mutations before. I then made the biggest mistake ever. I killed every Rex before those apart from the first wild tamed ones as I thought I would never need them. I saw that they had 4 maternal and 7 patrilineal mutations so I got confused and remembered watching this when it first came out; I watched this to be sure I was stacking correctly. I’m glad I kept the original pair.
For side note wasnt in video If you want to increase mutation % make mutation counter negative, to do so you just need to breed like 3bil and after its goes negative Negative mutation is lower than 20 mut so more change to get mut
ASB is an amazing tool that I always use when breeding. And breeding is really where I take my fun in Ark :) This was a nice coverage of mutations which is a tricky subject.

Thank you for explaining this! Now I know I was doing a very sloppy job on the mutations. I can improve myself now before something horrific happens... like losing my spino army in a boss fight.
To summarize: Step 1: tame a lot of high level of the same species. Step 2: choose the best stat for intended purpose. Step 3: breed those until you have the perfect pair for them(both F and M need to be the same level). Then you want the +2 of the level of parents. Step 4: do this until you have a father that’s 40 levels higher than the original father and breed those again once. (Mother for the other stat you want) Step 5: breed the +40lvl mother and +40 level father to get 1F and 1M, Step 6: breed that 1F and 1M to create the perfect Creature for its intended purpose. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
What do you mean "the perfect pair for them"? So I would breed, get a mutated baby thats a male, and mate that w the female mom until I get a female mutated baby? Then breed that one w the male baby that has a mutation? Then I keep doing that until I have what I want?
I once got a double muatation on my rexes (and I got tripplets) all of them were females and the mutations were on health and melee, they were the perfect anti-alpha-boss-creatures and they destroyed everything. Long story short, we got offline raided 2 days afterwards
i actually learned a lot from this. gonna try to look out for their stats more often and changes in them after breeding. it does make more sense the more you think about. its mainly boiled down to finding good, high-stat dinos and breeding them to create a change in their baby's stats to make more babies to create the perfect dino of your liking.

Just getting back into Ark, remembered this video and went looking for it. Thanks, you are concise and clear. I’ve never tried to breed for a perfect 40 mutation due to time, but your video will save me from making mistakes.
Syntac thank you for making this video everyone who has ever told me how to mutate a creature said it in a very confusing way, but when you explained it, it made so much sense ! Thank You !
The passive aggressiveness of RUclips for putting this in my recommendations
So, if I’m understanding this right;
You acquire two wild Dino’s, male and female. Breed them till you get a male and female, then you breed the tame born Dino’s a hundred times till you get a mutation, and then you bread the mutated Dino?
in a nutshell yes. but i would add to the first sentence, "you acquire two wild dino's with different good stats,..."
@@ASKaaron32 so do those have to be the same level or did all of his in the video just happen to be
@@glenniseler7522 you find 2 dinos. (one with better health and one with good strength) and since the one with the strength has bad health, and the one with the good health has bad strength, you will have to bread them until you get a male and a female with both the good strength and the good health and basically the same good stats. And you do that just so you dont get a baby that has good health from the mother but also bad strength from the mother and not from the father. Just bread them until you find 2 female and male that have same stats that are good, then bread them so that every baby has the same stats as both untill you get mutation on the stat you want. I can explain more if you want
If you do another ARK For Dummies you should do artifact caves or something along those lines.
That would be good because new players think it's a secret location and it's clearly not
Why you guys dont just read the offical wiki of game instead of wanting a video for every single topic?
@@ekrem_dincel oh I don't need help with caves I was just saying that would be a great topic for a video.

Dude, for the life of me on Ark Mobile, I can’t find the Artifact of the Brute cave. Like, I’ve explored the approximate coordinates & it’s not on my map. I’m not sure if it spawns after doing a certain amount of quests or what. :( *EDIT:* I now know that The Island on Ark Mobile is incomplete & the Artifact of the Brute Cave doesn’t exist, & also you can’t summon bosses. You have to go to the dungeons instead.

Thank you so much this one is the only video, which made me understand breeding
I wish this vid was out when I started breeding because it took me ages to figure all those things out all by myself. Thank you for spending your precious time on this. Really appreciate it! cheers
This is an incredibly informative video. I've been using the info from your original breeding vid to mutate my Deinonychus on Valguero, and this one goes even more in depth. Thank you for the new info!
Years later, and I still come back to your guides. Appreciate the content!
I'm definitely gonna have to come back to this for a refresher but surprisingly everything became clear after this, and I feel ready to breed dinos. Thank you.
Yes thank you syn. You amazing boi. I just started mutating rexes

Man this was amazing, thank you so much! I really appreciate you going over everything as this was a confusing subject for some of us.
I knew everything for mutation breeding before but i rly enjoyed your guide. Short and good explained guide man.
I think dire wolf color mutations are some of the coolest.
13:30 I think you can also use the Super Spyglass Mod to see how many points your creature got.
The Soulball mod also shows the mutations. As does the Awesome Spyglass mod.
it does?Sry, the mod confuses me a bit, or atleast what it shows.

I like the moment he say
the word "mutation"
I feel like being called a dummy should offend me, but its so accurate that I cant argue with it-
Syntac says something about mutations
My Brain: Cannot comprehend 💀
Getting mutations is very time consuming, so if you do get a female with the mutation you can just breed breed it with the original male until your new mutated female has has a male offspring with the mutation
My man! This was my question as well. Thank you.
I play official and this is not how you breed a mutation on both sides of the parents fucks up the stats you want a good male stud with lots of low level clone females and if you get a mutation make that the new stud ect
NASTY FOSTER
It doesn’t fuck up the stats, it stays the same. Breeding with low levels just decreases the level and removes points lol
Question, do the original female/male need to be the same lvl? Or is it fine of ones like a 225 and other a 217
I think you can breed them to get the same level in both but with different genders (That's what I do at least) and then you start breeding for mutations once you have the same stats/level parents (For easier way of spotting mutations)

If you want to increase mutation % make mutation counter negative, to do so you just need to breed like 3bil and after its goes negative
Negative mutation is lower than 20 mut so more change to get mut
does negative mutation increase with breeding and becomes positive?

@Jackson Boswell Mine was in the subscriptions part lol
Thank you for explaining this! Now I know I was doing a very sloppy job on the mutations. I can improve myself now before something horrific happens... like losing my spino army in a boss fight.
To summarize:
Step 1: tame a lot of high level of the same species.
(Mother for the other stat you want)
Step 5: breed the +40lvl mother and +40 level father to get 1F and 1M,
Step 6: breed that 1F and 1M to create the perfect Creature for its intended purpose.
How do I get the mutations to the maternal side?
This is so confusing.
This is the only video I've seen on breeding that made sense. Awesome video. Thank you
I once got a double muatation on my rexes (and I got tripplets) all of them were females and the mutations were on health and melee, they were the perfect anti-alpha-boss-creatures and they destroyed everything.

i actually learned a lot from this. gonna try to look out for their stats more often and changes in them after breeding. it does make more sense the more you think about. its mainly boiled down to finding good, high-stat dinos and breeding them to create a change in their baby's stats to make more babies to create the perfect dino of your liking.
its hard to understand at first but overtime if you keep watching this video over and over you'll eventually understand thanks Syntac
