I still watch breeding videos despite being very knowledgeable about it. While I didn’t learn anything, I also don’t have anything to add this is literally everything one could need or want to know in a short easy to understand guide. Great Video Chaotic. It will be the new video I recommend to those looking for info.
Can you help me out i dont know when a tame is good to breed it in to 1 dino. Like when do you know you have the best possible health, stamina, melee etc points distribution
It depends on what you want to do with them and what tames your talking about. Rexs for bosses you'll want give or take 10k hp as a base line. 350% ish damage. And then mutate those with 20 mutations into health and another line with 20 mutations into melee. 80ish armor saddles and they can take on most bosses easily on any difficulty.
@@Chaotic_Gaming What about max level cap? aren't you supposed to not combine multiple stats in servers whit max level cap enabled if you want to cap a particular stat like health or melee? also what about breeding whit low level females to get rid off undesired stats and lower the dino level in order to not hit the level cap?
Me watching this video 3 times before breeding my Desmo's since I'm going all out in the mutations for boss fights. Ive never bred to the extent I am and was confused by the 20+ mutations, but this was a breeze to watch and learn! Love the video, thank you!

I just started a new rex line using a male and 3 females all identical levels and stats and just got my first mutation Health. your guide helped so much. Thank you
Little tip before you get to the egg incubator stage place down 6 fire places. 6 is enough heat to hatch the hottest eggs an 1 is cool enough to hatch cooler eggs you just gotta turn the fireplaces on and off to range to heat
I had to rewatch a few times certain parts, but I made a written guide and I get it. Thanks a lot! Even after a few thousand hours of play, I didn't know all this.
Finally a video about mutations that didn't involve spreadsheets and just completely overwhelmed the viewer! This was so awesome, and clear, and slow, I think I finally understand (with some notes) on how to actually try and breed. I never took into account on how to properly use the mutations, or to keep a clean line. Thank you so much for making it so much more understandable!
So, use one high level pair to make a bunch of potentials. Of those potentials, take the ones that have stats that you want that are higher than the others. Then breed that high stat one with the opposite gender of the original to replicate that one but as a mating pair to then use to start breeding for mutations. I’m this far in the process of understanding and will need to review the mutations to know how to stack those. Assuming the same way
I remember back when ARK released and I didn’t know anything about how breeding worked. I would just breed my Dino’s so I can get a baby that I could imprint. Had no clue that you could add the best stats to 1 dino. The day I figured out how to properly breed and mutate absolutely changed my ARK experience to another level. I remember my stat capped Rex’s on a official server. That took me probably a year if not longer to do. My Rex’s got me invited to do bosses on the daily. I can’t see myself ever doing that grind again but I still find enjoyment doing breeding on my own server with increased breeding rates. I can’t wait for ARK Ascended to release though!
Great video I love to breed dinos and thought I had learned it all but I picked up a few new things so thank you also probably one of the most straight forward breeding videos I have watched

Just a heads up, mating is incorrectly in the chapters. But besides that, this was by far the best breeding guide I have seen so far. So thank you so much for the time put into making this video.
I miss one little thing, and that's mods. I've heard Awesome Spyglass can help find Dino's with good base stats by being able to see the point distribution before taming it (similar to what the incubator shows iirc) But mentioning some mods without going into detail would be really helpful for those who have the power to install them or for those who have them on the server. I run a small server with 2 friends and anyone can suggest a mod. Then we'll discuss it, play devil's advocate to bring up any balance concerns, and then decide if we want to install it. Fun little fact - if you knock a tame out, but don't give it food, it will slowly lose hunger, but the taming effectiveness won't go down until the food is in the creatures inventory very high taming effectiveness even with using lower grade food note that it won't change the taming time
Food gives the same same taming effectiveness regardless of if it was starved or not. The only bonus starving gives is if it gets hit you don't waste food letting it wake up to reset it.

I'm probably doing a lot of things wrong, but it's fun. THIS seems extremely tedious though. Either way, I still gave a like because even though I didn't really follow everything, I could tell that, not only was there a lot of thought put into it, along with the grind of learning to do it all in the first place, I can also tell that anyone who's ready for this information could easily understand what you're talking about and implement right away. Maybe one day I'll be there........maybe...

I have been playing this game for almost 2 thousand hours and still manage to learn something from this, remember people even if you think you know all you need to know, there is always more!
This is interesting, I've never done it this way. Having one female for each stat and then breeding them together once you get 20 mutations for each stat. I always breed all the stats I want on the same dino. My none mutated "perfect" dinos are always 4 or 5 females, and then when I get a mutated male on a stat that I want I breed him back to all the females. I'm gonna give your technique a try. To be honest, it seems overcomplicated to me and adding more steps that you don't really need. We'll see. I learned how to breed from Syntac's video on breeding.
Hello Chaotic, first of all I really apreciate your video as you helped me out to get through the breeding dynamics after all this years. Even though I had to watch it a couple times to fully understand it. But I have one final question: If you're breeding the dinos with both 20 mutations together, will the offspring then have 40/20 mutations and be no longer availabe for future mutations?
Unless I missed it, you mentioned the elixir giving a 30% taming affinity, but it's worth noting that same elixir can be used to gain 30% imprint as well.
thanks for posting this it is the most clear and concise video ive seen on breeding and one that i fully understand lmfao. Thanks for the hard work and know that it will get a lot of replays from me lmafo! (short term memory loss is a bitch)
Been playing ark for many years on / off now. Always gotten to the point where I have everything I need, but never tryed the breeding. Always thought it was to timeconsuming and complicated. Guess I need to try this time after I started from scratch again.
Oh man! I've messed up so many Rex's ugh! Now I have to figure a way to kill them all lol I'm on a PVE server that has no damage to pets and no mods. I have beautiful colors (like pink and blue) and lots of mutations but that's because I bred mutations with mutations. I have a few that are showing Stat increases but couldn't figure out how to get the stats I want .... thanks for this! Back to the proverbial drawing board. 🤦🏾♀️
This is by far the best breeding video for ark I have seen! Thank you! If I missed this, I'm sorry... Do the levels of the parents matter? Or just the stats?

I'm about 20-30 hours in as I just took the leap into this game and this video just showed me that as I thought I was getting the hang of it, how new I really am lol I'll just keep learning step by step.
Baby steps bud. I'm nearly at 10k hours now myself. And it took me hundreds of hours before I fully understood breeding.
@@Chaotic_Gaming I appreciate the reply. I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I do but I found mused playing for about 8-10 hours over multiple days without realizing it. I had to make myself take a break 😂 not trying to develop an unhealthy addiction. It just draws you in!!
@@xXDEUC35Xx oh yah Ark has an uncanny ability to delete days in a row. 🤣
@Chaotic Gaming oh boy. Wish me luck! I'm gonna have to limit myself to a couple hours when I get on lol
@@Chaotic_Gaming AAAAAAND I'm back! So I've been playing a lot since I replied to this a short while back and I THINK I might be ready to tackle this video again hahaha
First time listening all the way through. Definitely still feel lost, but now I feel like I understand it enough to try. 😂😌😊
Thank you. ☺️
You got this!
FINALY!!! 100% best breeding video i have ever watched im in love lol
Thanks bud. Means a lot coming from you bud
I’m seeing a lot of people loving this video for its super in depth content. I agree, lots of info.
And it’s because of this video, I realize that breeding is not for me lol. Other than the fact that I understood, less than half of what you said, it also sounds very, very tedious.
So thank you for telling me the entire process now before I start to dive into it and regret it later!
Its not for everyone. Hopefully they will make it a little bit more simpler in ASA.
Hay was real hopeing you could go more in depth about how to get the perfect breading pair
I love this vid so much...just started to really get into breeding mutations...thank you so very much for this vid :)
No problem bud. Hope it helps 🤘
@@Chaotic_Gaming oh it really does...been watching it a lot
My brain is gonna explode from how much knowledge i've gained from this video.
🤯
@@Chaotic_Gaming 😱
@@Chaotic_Gaming the only thing im confused about is mutation stacking
@@Chaotic_Gaming do i just breed the dino with combined stats until i get a mutation?
@@Chaotic_Gaming FUCK i got a speed mutation
This is INCREDIBLY confusing, and I hate it. My head is spinning.
Anyone else who feels this way, I recommend repeatedly watching this video over time (and to use dododex) because he really does a great job explaining this here. Play solo, change the settings, and practice. I'm getting there myself, and it's actually thanks to CG's and his video getting played over and over again.
Glad I could help 🤘
1. Thanks for the information
2. I think I got a 3-4 mutations on shadowmanes randomly
No problem bud. 😊
Yah mutations can easily sneak in there on you.
g'day chaotic :) love the slang in the intro mate :)
Haha, we all got our catch phrases 😜🤘
I just started breeding today for the first time and got a triple mutation, melee weight and torp.
Sounds like a double because torp isn't a stat that mutates
I never knew about the gestation option on the incubator before, I wish I had when I was mutating megatheriums FML
It was fairly new added sometime after the egg incubator was released.
This is the simplest way I've ever heard it explained!! Thankyou!!!
Glad I could help bud 🤘
I still don’t get it
@@woozii.capalot what's got you confused? Maybe I can explain it better.
@@Chaotic_Gaming the whole stacking mutations part
@@woozii.capalot breed your stats male with your stats females untill you get a male with a mutation you want (say hp) it'll be 2 levels higher then the parents and have a higher health. Grow it up and then breed it with the females until a new mutation is born. It will be 2 levels higher then its father and 4 levels higher then the mothers. Make sure it has higher hp then the father. Grow it up and repeat.
Amazing I was just watching to see wut other do but this is a amazing guide as some one with 5 years of this game and I have had maybe over 10k mutations I have had the triple mutation 2 times in that time it was really use full when it happened lol good job on this
recently got a double mutation in my argi stamina line. one in stam and 1 in health. desided to keep her as an inbetween upgrade from my curent argi in use. (better base stam then my leveled unmutated argi and better health. she has nice blue wingtips. gonna pump some points in weight and it ll begood enough for now
I’m not a New player but I never new how to breed but this Is gonna help ty so much I’ve been playing for 5 years To 6 years
Glad I could help 🤘
Thanks for the video ive been playing for 5 years and it was still helpfull. You are getting yourself a new sub hehe
🤘
Loved the video man! You just earned yourself a new subscriber! I’ll definitely be back to this video to brush up on some stuff definitely the best breeding video I’ve seen man. Keep up the good work!
Glad I could help
Best Breeding guide out there. Myman great job
Thanks bud 🤘
Very helpful and simple. I now know that much more about breeding (I knew nothing before)
Glad I could help bud 🤘
Great video explaining and editing learned everything I needed saved for later
Glad I could help
I believe I need to get more formal with the game. Just starting…..an this was super insane amount of information.
Yah it is a lot. Just take it one step at a time bud
This … this has melted my brain but I’m gonna learn lmao
1 step at a time you'll get it
Oh my fucking god, i have been looking video after video, you're the only one i understood
🤘 glad I could help
Great video, now I understand breeding. You have done a miracle
Awesome to hear bud 🤟🤘
@@Chaotic_Gaming You had my trust, now you have it even more
Very good video even tho I already new all that only thing you didn’t mention was negative breeding
Yah I didn't mention it on purpose.
Loves the video, how do you get Dinos with enormous melee D? Like past the 20/20 cap?
Just keep breeding your mutation line with 0/0 females
I have been playing this game for almost 2 thousand hours and still manage to learn something from this, remember people even if you think you know all you need to know, there is always more!
Yah even I'm still learning 😌
I just had a brain aneurism. After watching this 6 times I think I get it...... hopefully........
Putting it in practice helps
Glad I could help bud as for your question, As long as those babies breed with 0/0s they can keep mutating.
6:09 where I left off good video so far:) (this is a personal use comment )
Hope it helps bud
Unless I missed it, you mentioned the elixir giving a 30% taming affinity, but it's worth noting that same elixir can be used to gain 30% imprint as well.
I might of missed mentioning it. Not some I would use for imprinting with the nanny from SS and S+ 😅
@Chaotic_Gaming I am completely ignorant when it comes to ss and s+ so I didn't even know about that. Thanks for letting me know!
I would love to lean more about breeding this was very helpful
Glad I could help bud 🤘
thanks for posting this it is the most clear and concise video ive seen on breeding and one that i fully understand lmfao. Thanks for the hard work and know that it will get a lot of replays from me lmafo! (short term memory loss is a bitch)
Glad I could help bud 🤘 and I more then understand the short term memory loss 😅
Well my Brain died of to much Info but, this is defo Gas !!
Ty
This is the way
Been playing ark for many years on / off now. Always gotten to the point where I have everything I need, but never tryed the breeding. Always thought it was to timeconsuming and complicated. Guess I need to try this time after I started from scratch again.
Good luck
Thanks a lot. Going all in on making the strongest Primal Griffin now. So far they are getting pretty good.@@Chaotic_Gaming
@@NickPaulsen nice!
If you have a surplus of cryopods you could always grind them in a grinder 🤘😜
@@Chaotic_Gaming ahh yes! Thanks a bunch!
I love you chaotic lolol this video is so good. Soon I am confident I will make a super mutant trex.
Awesome bud 🤘
This is by far the best breeding video for ark I have seen! Thank you!
If I missed this, I'm sorry... Do the levels of the parents matter? Or just the stats?
Only time levels matter is if you are taming or breeding for an identical stats breeding pair.
@@Chaotic_Gaming
Thank you! I'm trying to beat the island solo, so I'm gonna need all the help I can get.
Just making sure ask mutations haven’t changed right
Nope they are the exact same
