I was knocked off and it fought off a bunch of Sarco’s, and even fended off a carno. However, a bunch of snakes ganged up on it, knocked it out, and killed it. Rest in piece Barry, you will be avenged one day
Pro tip, carry lystro inside the pouch of a procoptodon to bring it with you. You can pet it while it's in the pouch and get the exp boost while killing. The raptor. Agreed, great early tame, make sure they are mate boosted and ride the highest level so you can use the C button pack buff. More importantly, as very few people know this: If you manage to get cryopod after getting a few raptors, use it on the highest level to unlock the pack bonus. It's glitched but if you cryo it and throw it out, you will get the pack leader glow(like the allosaurus, hyenadon, wolf) as well as the increased damage and damage resistance.
Hmmm but if u tame a high level trike with narco arrows it can be used to soak turrets and since most people do note runs i think trike is better but in pve iguanadon is prop better
The trike has much more defence and knockback. A good one can easily kill an alpha raptor or rex. Also the trike has good use in end game too, and still have quite good mobility with their charge. And also their saddle unlocks at a lower level

I remember being part of a pvp war on a boosted server and they had TONS of trikes raised just to soak up bullets from turrets when attacking someone’s base. They’d have trikes lined up at the front because they take reduced damage to the head and had healer Dino’s right behind them and then people around just to protect them and to fight off the enemy. It deals good damage (can take out most carnos), low level rexes up to lvl 40, and can move pretty fast. Another thing is that you dont need a saddle to mount it. Everyone says trikes are so easyto tame but when I first started playing, i got the slingshot and shot them once That thing went at least 84 miles per hour at me and flung me into the atmosphere
Fun fact: I’m pretty sure (almost) all Dino’s have a special skill when riding them, so for the raptor, if you have two or more traveling together, hit C. It will give you a “pack buff” for a short amount of time and raise melee damage, and I’m pretty sure it does two other things but I forgot them.
The highest level raptor in a pack will become the Alpha and thus receive a corresponding glow and buff. Also having one raptor of each gender will buff both raptors with the "mate boost"
In my time playing the game I've found that sacos are actually pretty great for early game they have good weight and are super fast on the water and decent at dealing damage on land
I also recommend the lystro since I was just starting I made an army of them and they were a formidable strong force in groups, trust me. It'll be a great starter army
Personally the lystro for me is when you have a base set up and you have dinos out that aren't in cryos and not doing anything then its pretty good. The trike is pretty good. Also you should have talked about the enraged boost it gets when by certain carnivores. Raptors, Ravagers, and The Baronynx have all surprised me that they can be affected by bolas. the moschops is hands down the best beginner creature i tamed a lvl 30 and it helped me fight off daedons , stegos , raptors , sarcos and other things you might encounter though you have to sit on it and control it or it'll run off
Omg, I can't stress how much easier the game is when you have raptors on your side. I always ran away from them and I finally tamed one and you rake in hide and meat. Also, it saves your tools from degrading since you can just have the raptor kill everything.
What kills me is that most people will never know the true power of the Pteranodon, and how it easily was (is?) the BEST PVP tame. It's the fastest flyer and the damage of the barrel roll is insane, when both have points sunk into it.
I play this game with my kids . We have lot of fun. But we die everytime we try to go far from our first place. I find your videos very useful. Thank you
I think you could compare the terror bird to the raptor as well, I've tamed both, but honestly prefer the terror bird a tad bit more. I love your videos, helped, and saved me a few times now!
Honnestly, even if not as usefull in combat/defense situation than trike, a moshop that ask for tintoberry is great at the beginning. That's my opinion, now XD
You Earned a new subscriber, I’m new to ark and this is really helpful, though I feel that the parasaurolophus is also a good starter Dino to travel the map
Awesome list! I feel like so many people sleep on the Parasaur though, early game get one these bad boys and put some points into movement speed and we are zooming quite early on. Though my fav Dino irl is the Parasaurolophus, so I may be a little biased haha.
I tamed a daedon in the beginning stages. You might not be able to ride it straight away but it has lots of health and you can bring it with you cuz it heals you and your dinos. And my first flyer was a snow owl.
I would like to add the Pelecano (or what ever it name was as well) it is the only flying animal in the game that can land on the water and do not trow you off if you get close to the water, and in my opinion the fastest flyer on The Island, though you need a loot of points for weight and they only eat fish.
The raptor is a great choice you have no idea how much i used them and still do early game . Not only for killing but for traveling and taming too sharkos, trikes and even therazinos can be tamed with a raptor and no trap if you are willing to rusk a little
The raptors are literally death traps But after a bit, when I started just killing dilophosaurus’s every chance I got, I went against a raptor and died a few times, but I had placed my sleeping bag so I could get back and killed it after a few tries! Now I kill them all the time!
i use lot of newly breed Pteranodon to take on the wyvern egg on Ragnarok. I just send my 20 Pteranodon attacking the 1st wyvern i saw while i go for the eggs and flee! i found out most of them survived and killed at least 3 wyvern when i return for a 2nd run. It was nice! Never underestimate the agility they have when fighting larger flyier
My top 5 Argy(low because saddle at 62) Casteroides(same as rg but higher because of auto gathering) Trike(this one you can actually get a saddle at low lvl, amazing collector of berries and thatch, good dmg and hp) DireWolf(great pelt, skin and meat gatherer, excellent dmg, hp and speed, no saddle needed) Therizino(no saddle But still the best beggining Dino, you can tame one at level 21 gets the whole group of mats that you need early and in lvl 69 you get saddle, best dino, can protect your base, if you need Wood just make him near a tree and whistle stop) Honorable mention Spino(it’s just a spino, what are you expecting him to do)
You helped me so much! Me and my dad were playing ark And after we got lots of levels and armour, we tried to get the trike with a hatchet. We got destroyed.
I see how pterafier is like “walk around with ten raptors to strike fear in the heart of your enemies” when I’m busy trying to fill up a feeding trough full of meat in order to feed my 20 therizinosaurs

I just got this game on the 26th for my birthday and it's so fun
Very informative. And yets to the point. And not annoying. Only ark guy I subbed. Great vids good job
Thank you!
Got my butt beat early on by a Trike but noticed it had issues with tight turns making it easier to kite. I’ll be doing that later. Thanks man. 👍🏿👍🏿
Haven't started taming yet just been storing up resources but think I'm long overdue, can't wait to get the flying dino
Most of the tips I know yet I still watch them
Great videos man. Really help me in my first 🏃♂️
You Earned a new subscriber, I’m new to ark and this is really helpful, though I feel that the parasaurolophus is also a good starter Dino to travel the map
Welcome aboard! You're not wrong about that lol
You got yourself a subscriber my dude.... I've only just found ark and I'm having lots of trouble on account of there being no tutorials
Welcome to the channel Brett :)
I usually get a Diplo or a Bronto for berry gathering. They're a bit slow but they have a good range for reaping bushes for berries.
And my first flyer was a snow owl.
good finally information i can use! thank you
I would like to add the Pelecano (or what ever it name was as well) it is the only flying animal in the game that can land on the water and do not trow you off if you get close to the water, and in my opinion the fastest flyer on The Island, though you need a loot of points for weight and they only eat fish.
Pelagornis
The raptor is a great choice you have no idea how much i used them and still do early game . Not only for killing but for traveling and taming too sharkos, trikes and even therazinos can be tamed with a raptor and no trap if you are willing to rusk a little
The raptors are literally death traps
But after a bit, when I started just killing dilophosaurus’s every chance I got, I went against a raptor and died a few times, but I had placed my sleeping bag so I could get back and killed it after a few tries!
Now I kill them all the time!
Dude i love your channel, i don’t have ark on my pc but i did have it on my on my ps4, hoping i can start playing ark again soon
you're literally the best dude!! thank you for your content!
Happy to help! Thanks for watching
@@pterafier ♥️ do you still stream ark? I know your videos are semi old lol
i use lot of newly breed Pteranodon to take on the wyvern egg on Ragnarok. I just send my 20 Pteranodon attacking the 1st wyvern i saw while i go for the eggs and flee! i found out most of them survived and killed at least 3 wyvern when i return for a 2nd run. It was nice! Never underestimate the agility they have when fighting larger flyier
Just started playing in 2023, this was helpful!
My top 5
Argy(low because saddle at 62)
Casteroides(same as rg but higher because of auto gathering)
Trike(this one you can actually get a saddle at low lvl, amazing collector of berries and thatch, good dmg and hp)
DireWolf(great pelt, skin and meat gatherer, excellent dmg, hp and speed, no saddle needed)
Therizino(no saddle But still the best beggining Dino, you can tame one at level 21 gets the whole group of mats that you need early and in lvl 69 you get saddle, best dino, can protect your base, if you need Wood just make him near a tree and whistle stop)
Honorable mention
Spino(it’s just a spino, what are you expecting him to do)
Very informative thank you very much. I'm definitely subscribing
Thanks! As a new player, it helped a lot!
Love your videos man. Very very helpful.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you, finally someone who actually says how to tame a triceratops
Ty i recently got ark and didnt know how to barrel roll as i have seen some other yters do it thanks
i have a fear of the ocean so even if i do have the best under water creature i wouldn’t go down there
Thx really helped me, I just started playing ark a week ago and I haven't tamed anything yet
Good luck
i also suggest taming the parasaur its easy to tame and is also a very helpful begginer tame
This helped so much def subbing
Welcome!
You helped me so much! Me and my dad were playing ark And after we got lots of levels and armour, we tried to get the trike with a hatchet. We got destroyed.
Definitely going after a baronyx as one of my first tames. Will be fun exploding underwater.
Remenber Bolas dont work anymore
I see how pterafier is like “walk around with ten raptors to strike fear in the heart of your enemies” when I’m busy trying to fill up a feeding trough full of meat in order to feed my 20 therizinosaurs
Can't believe ma boi the parasaur didn't make it, but great list!
