Im 17 and have thousands of hours in ark, but im a terrible teacher. Recently my dad has been trying to get into games so he can spend time with me, as hes not aloud to see me irl. Arks my favourite game, so i wanted to teach him it, but im terrible at teaching, so ive been showing him all your videos, and after 3 months my dad has gotten good enough and knowledgeable enough to carry his own weight without help, even in endgame! I am a huge fan of iguanadons as an early tame since they gather berries real fast, make seeds, move fast and hit hard when it comes time to survive a fight

My thoughts on Ark's sea creatures. Megalodons: *Laughs because of my elite baryonyxes* Piranhas: *Laughs even harder* Tusoteuhthis': *Stops laughing* (those squids are the gigas of the sea)
I got a Tusotuhthis stuck on a rock in crystal isles (it was an alpha too) and i had to punch it to death a bit because it ate my baryonyxe and broke my pike, and crossbow. It was pretty low because I hit it with like a half durability pike and a few times with my bary (before it got aten) so not much punching. But still.
According to the wiki both large and medium crop plots yield either 300 berries or 150 veggies at most. Large crop plots could hold more water but when irrigated this becomes irrelevant. You can also have more space to place more medium crop plots and it costs a little less to craft medium plots.
Multiplayer the most important thing is to befriend mega tribes, they can offer you protection and alliances, and or even invite you in and being ina mega tribe is a lot less stressful then doing all the grinding yourself. Most megatribes are peaceful police forces on the server so try to find a server where the alpha tribe are more of a governor.

1:56 Tip #2. On default single player, The Island, you will get a lot of copies of common things such as Phiomia Saddles. 6:55 Tip #6. On default single player, The Island, lower south cave doesn't seem to respawn obsidian. The cave monsters seem to have no problem spawning and killing you though.
I have 800 hours I can say get atleast 135 movement speed and 200 stam never level health bcuz armour can do that instead135 movement means u can out run raptors and most fast creatures. Never go to loot drops the are very inconsistent and usually give u shit go to desert drops on ragnarok or the drops in the ice cave
I stopped playing a week or 2 after my original post. I did play a lot of hours and had fun. I never got close to anything end game but was also playing default. Still looking forward to Ark 2. If the options will be similar i won't make the mistake of playing on default again. I also only played solo. Never tried multiplayer.
I would modify some of his suggestions which should be even easier for you Your goal as a new player after creating bed somewhere with your base is to make a lot of narcotics. It gives you a lot of experience early on and helps you craft tranq arrows which you will use to tame most stuff early on. 1. Tame multiple Dilophosaurus... they are slow but can slow enemies with their spit attack. A pack of them can get you a decent amount of meat and hide. I wouldn't recoomend attacking brontos since they have a high knock back plus a lot of HP but you should be able to kill Trikes and Stegos. Keep in mind that Dilos are slow so you have to make sure they keep pace and don't get stuck on things like rocks and trees. As soon as you feel comfortable tame Raptors and retire your Dilo pack to base guards or whatever since they are much faster, stronger, and can have armor since it can be equipped with saddles. Also Ark has a ton of pack animals that fill this role that you can look into later on like Dire Wolves 2. Tame a Parasaur. They aren't as strong as Trikes but they have good weight and high stamina. So they are easier to travel on. I recommend taming one under level 60 with a bola and sling shot by getting headshots on it. If the bola breaks before you KO it just simply be patient and try to keep close to it as it is running away and Bola it again in 10 seconds. You can also go for lower levels to make sure you can get it one go. I use them as pack mules, berry collector until I get a better one. Still can gather way more narco berries than you can and lastly if you want to catch a Trike without a trap you can pump a bunch of HP into a Parasaur while having it tank a Trike as you are shooting tranq arrows at it. Of course know your surroundings you don't want trouble from other dinos especially if your Parasaur is lower on health. I like having at least 2 of them early on so they can be mate boosted buffing attack and defense. They also have a detect enemy ability that I suggest using often to keep you aware of your surroundings. They also can scare away smaller attackers which can be useful against the likes of raptors. The next overall upgrade from these guys are Iguanodons since they have infinite stamina in quadrupedal mode, are faster, are better attackers, and still have decent enough weight.
@@mall0wfluff Kudos for sticking to it it took me a year to even play this game from when I first started and still a decent time before I got good at surviving. I wasn't used to survival games. I just remember trying it on the Xbox, getting killed and then dehydrated in the middle of the pitch black night in the jungle not knowing what was around me and my character poops. I was like this game is dumb. Almost a year later gave it a second shot since I love dinosaurs and the idea of building a cool base wherever I wanted really appealed to me. Finally gathered the patience and started to slowly learn the game. Took me another year to learn most of the tips and tricks and how most creatures in the game have a cool niche that I wasn't aware of like I passed up the Archaeopteryx because I just thought it was shoulder parachute but then I realized later it was a sap collector and even works on Joshua Trees on Scorched Earth. Now wish the game was harder sometimes since I play Single Player and only Boss Battles and Red & Purple Supply Drops pose a real challenge to me.
@@mall0wfluff Good tips I got is get a ptera, get their saddle, level up a bit more to get an Argentavis saddle, then use your ptera and fly to the mountains, tame an Argentavis with a trap, there's like a lot you can find in RUclips so just use those, and get your Argent saddle and your set for a long time since Argentavis are really good

Good tip also. This took me awhile to figure out. If you build a basic bed and then die the bed act as a respawn. That was not the part though. The part that's useful is when you respawn at a bed you keep all your character progress. This saves so much time in the way of leveling up. Make the basic white bed your main priority.
You know not much is said about the deep ocean play but I’ve never heard anyone mention that there are big air pockets on the ocean floor. Perfect places to build hidden bases and hardest to assault. 😉
Cryopods + Cryofridges will keep your base small, tidy and safe + food demands low. And will make your travels and taming processes very flexible. Dunkleosteus will get you that easy oil to keep the cryostuff running without much effort (personally preferring that over arctic oil and Argy + Anky).

tame yourself an argy asap. even if you cant make the saddle yet, it wont be far off from the moment you knock it out to you being the needed level for the saddle. they are a bird of needs. cuts weights of materials. picks up most beginner dinos you'll need. can be buffed for long term flights, fights, or muleing resources about. and that portable smithy is a life saver when you remember the argy has it (as the highest level person on my tribe. i tell people to bring me resources for something they need. throw it on my bird. make it for them and send them on their way while im in the middle of a element vein or OSD drop

My first tame is always a Moschops. You can tame right off the bat and you don't need a saddle. I run around and find one thats taking mejoberries and tame it. They are great for gathering berries and fiber to start building with thatch and getting you narcotic reserves going.
Taming a theri is very difficult because it’s quite very strong and stone is much better than wood when taming a higher level basically if it has a lot of damage for its level

Yeah. And you don’t have to stress about creating polymer. Just farm some kairuku (penguins). They give off organic polymer easily. And they’re super easy to tame and mate

I have discovered that, because of the way I designed and built my home, that you don't really NEED to build a separate greenhouse to get that cool "greenhouse effect". My home is made of stone (9 squares X 6 squares) and has 3 levels, main, a large mostly open 2nd floor and the 3rd floor is accessible by spiral staircases on either end. At the north and south sides I have a few greenhouse walls and sloped walls for the view and greenhouse sloped ceilings along the top 2 rows out of 3 (3rd being stone). Enough light goes through the few greenhouse pieces I have to create the greenhouse effect without building a whole separate building

Large Crop Plots don't produce higher yields. The only advantage large crop plots have compared to regular ones is that you can plant x, y and z plants in them. Other than that it's just a waste of resources since both medium and small crop plots produce the same yield of crop
I’m still learning the game. It’s more of a life though. You expand your knowledge as you go and there is a lot to learn. I am looking forward to my future in this game.
3:25 lmao my first tame other than the first dodo I saw was a argy. It was rough and took hours but it was worth it. I have yet to see it go under half health. And that's even when I seen it fighting a pack of hyenas, the giant gator (I'm still new to the game), a raptor and another argy. I didn't believe it but it somehow did it. Imo it was a great early tame if you know what you're doing. It's decent speed, big, flies, tougher, has a weight reduction on certain stuff. I've seen it's caws and screeches make players turn and run. takes 15 tranq arrows with crossbow about 30 narcotic mixes (just in case) and it's best to get prime meat but regular meat will suffice. Just takes a long time.but worth it. It's a great vegetation collector.

As far as I was aware, you only need the large crop plots for the species X or V plants.

@@WORTH-IT-MAN if your playing pve maybe that could apply but ark pvp health is a must and stamina wouldn't be the most important thing to level

Tame a low level carno for first meat collector, they're plentiful and relatively powerful, giving easy access to prime meat.

Going back to 2:45 where he explains the drops, there is also an ascendant drop that you can find in an underwater cave in Ragnarok.

Yeah. And you don’t have to stress about creating polymer. Just farm some kairuku (penguins). They give off organic polymer easily. And they’re super easy to tame and mate

I’ve been playing ark for 700 hours+ but i still love watching theese vids it reminds me of when i was new :D
I have discovered that, because of the way I designed and built my home, that you don't really NEED to build a separate greenhouse to get that cool "greenhouse effect". My home is made of stone (9 squares X 6 squares) and has 3 levels, main, a large mostly open 2nd floor and the 3rd floor is accessible by spiral staircases on either end. At the north and south sides I have a few greenhouse walls and sloped walls for the view and greenhouse sloped ceilings along the top 2 rows out of 3 (3rd being stone). Enough light goes through the few greenhouse pieces I have to create the greenhouse effect without building a whole separate building

Large Crop Plots don't produce higher yields. The only advantage large crop plots have compared to regular ones is that you can plant x, y and z plants in them. Other than that it's just a waste of resources since both medium and small crop plots produce the same yield of crop

I’m still learning the game. It’s more of a life though. You expand your knowledge as you go and there is a lot to learn. I am looking forward to my future in this game.
That's a really good mindset
Side tip with dung beetles, put them on wander and throw them in a wooden cage. They'll still produce fertilizer and take less space

3:25 lmao my first tame other than the first dodo I saw was a argy. It was rough and took hours but it was worth it. I have yet to see it go under half health. And that's even when I seen it fighting a pack of hyenas, the giant gator (I'm still new to the game), a raptor and another argy. I didn't believe it but it somehow did it. Imo it was a great early tame if you know what you're doing. It's decent speed, big, flies, tougher, has a weight reduction on certain stuff. I've seen it's caws and screeches make players turn and run. takes 15 tranq arrows with crossbow about 30 narcotic mixes (just in case) and it's best to get prime meat but regular meat will suffice. Just takes a long time.but worth it. It's a great vegetation collector.
