About gathering Stone with Doedicurus - it's good to know that they move/gather much faster underwater (but you need to find stones in water first) and that you can just carry them with for example Argentavis, fly over stones and they'll gather it automatically! This speeds up collecting stone significantly.
with the flint thing, the method i have found works very well is to get stone with a doedic and then grind it into flint in a grinder, this way you get tons of flint and experience at the same time.
The way I do it is grab a doed and an Argy and go into the Giant Bee Cave on Crystal Isles. What also works is using a chainsaw on the Bee Hives in there.

You can just walk in the ice queen cave on rag and kill one of the lvl1 worms in the entrance for a horn. Usually I bring a good pump, but tried it with a prim just to see the difficultly it was pretty easy. Just take Fur, and flak with medbrews and food. Then after you have it go to the mantis spawn. Make a 1by1 with the walls going up by 3, no ceiling. Best if made out of stone then a wooden ramp going up to the top. You can run it or bring a pt and lure the mantis up the ramp into the 1by1. Then simply go out of render distance comeback and instant tame it with your horn.
I will say for silica pearls, if you are playing on the island and head up the west coast to the snow, very quickly you will find constantly respawning in pretty shallow water. So long as you keep up the pace, you shouldn’t be there long enough to freeze
Equus I recommend for a good starter tame: 1. They can gather berries very well. 2. There saddle works a mortal and pestle. 3. They can knock out Smaller Creatures Like gatherers. 4. Overall decent stats, not to powerful but wont get you killed fighting a dilo. 5. Very fast, and can outrun a lot of things
Good starter tame for Ragnarok since wild carrots grow where they spawn so you can easily start at level 10. As for other maps I recommend holding off until level 26 which is still beginner level. Not too hard to level too if you have explorer notes and craft up plenty of narcotics. This level you unlock medium crop plots so I recommend getting fertilizer before this investing in multiple compost bins or if you are able to tame a Dung Beetle early. You could use poop if you are in a pinch and just grow carrots in multiple plots to get as many as you can quickly. I don't recommend taming them with berries. It takes forever and more can go wrong unless you are in a very safe or controlled area. It also doesn't give them great taming effectiveness. So one map it is truly a beginner tame and the other map you have to have a small bit of knowledge to not waste your time and effort. Especially on the Island where Equus isn't so common of a spawn.
Also: 80% weight reduction on sand and cactus sap, which is absolutely amazing if you're on Scorched Earth (or any other map where those resources are relevant.)
I feel like Moschops is a better starter tame on most maps because it's more easily available. It has all the same advantages (aside from maybe speed) and the added bonus of not needing a saddle.

A little tip for when you are harvesting stone with a doedicurus. They have an auto-gathering function that allows you to hold them with a flier and they will automatically collect stone from rocks you fly over so it makes gathering large amounts of stone much much quicker. The only thing is that they stop after reaching a certain percentage of their total weight, I believe it's 50% but I've never done any tests to find out for sure, either way I just dump all of their stat points into weight and then fly around while carrying it with my Argy.
I would recommend to tame a therizinosaurus. They gather meat, hide, thatch, wood, fiber, and berries fairly efficiently. I ALWAYS have a theri around because it's SO useful when you have to collect one of those resources and have your jack of all trades dino.
quick pro-tip about the wild casteroides: aggro one, and trap it in a stone trap with a metal door.... and leave it the f alone. go away for a bit and come back. after a while, when you come back, you'll find yourself a nice shiny new beaver dam to raid for tons of cementing paste and wood, pearls and sometimes rare mushrooms and flowers over time. raid it, and rinse and repeat as desired. you can go in grab the stuff and run out the door, and they're too chunky to get out of it. just make sure it's at least 2 walls high. i'd make it three just in case when they come out of stasis and they end up right on top of the dam and it happens to be close to said wall. I found this out completely by accident while playing offline. not sure i'd try it on a pvp server.. chances are people would just kill or tame the damn thing to troll you.
Note to self: now that I'm almost to mid-game for the first time, I need to tame some Ankys, giant armadillos, and massive frogs 😉 Thank you for this, I had no clue about the frogs before!
Man I have some dark past with the frogs, so when I first played ark I was a speedrunner so I spawned in a hard area and went to the swamp and a gang of frogs came out of nowhere and they ate me even without teeth

I’m a new subscriber and i REALLY REALLY love your content. It helped me a lot since i started playing some time ago and i knew shit about breeding, taming, caving etc. I’m ready to conquer the map with my friends and dinos thanks to u :)
I usually use the argentavis to collect crystal. in itself it doesn't, but it has a 50% weight reduction for crystal, so I just ride with it to some snowy mountain side, extract it with my pickaxe and carry 2-3-4 100x stacks at the time
Still kind of a noob player but I just made a polymer/cementing paste/chitin farm with my friends. We tamed up a few penguins, hesperornis, and mantises into breeding pairs, turned the mating and hatching rates way up, and set some hyaenodons with meat packs in there on aggressive so they kill the babies as soon as they're born. The packs act like fridges without getting too encumbered by all the prime meat (another handy thing to have) so they have lots of room to hold on to the other materials without them spoiling so fast. It's actually pretty funny because our parasaur detects the babies as enemies for about 2 seconds until they're dead. It's like the most macabre baby monitor.
The magmasaur is actually the greatest thing that happened for me. It can collect thatch, wood, stone, crystal, obsidian, gems obviously metal and maybe other things. Made my anky, roll rat and doed obsolete
pro tip: gachas can produce just about every resource with black pearl and element dust being the rarest things they produce and they will eat anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that is not an artifact and if given quality gear (prim through ascendent) they can in turn give you a random quality item from weapons and tools to armor and shields. Also Gachas are not big fans of their own kind only keep a mating pair together and any others 13 foundations away if you want them to produce crystals. If you see dark grey lights on their back they are mad and will produce less to no crystals, if their lights are bright like christmas lights they are happy and will produce an endless supply of crystals so long as they have something to eat in their inventory. They also prefer Snow owl pellets and war maps. if war maps is not availible metal structures work as well
It's so much easier to farm Trilobites with an Angler because It spawns a lot in shallow waters free chitin and black pearls too (Also recommend getting a stack mod very helpful for saving space)
I use a golem for stone and wood, if you grab some thatch with a wyvern or megatherium, you can craft stone structures as you go, great for building your giant stone base
I live in the radiation right above the drake nest in the pocket where there isn't radiation and I dont use crafted poly, just take my bear and harvest poly flowers. So convenient, even transfer it to use on other servers
Instead of the castroides I would suggest the thorny dragon. The dragon eats meat as such it doesn't collect berries which means you won't have to stop often and dump the berries to fit more wood. They also have the same weight reduction as the castroides. I also prefer them in combat situations as there larger build and higher damage output makes for a better fighter.
If your on crystal isles and need poly go to the bee cave in the red forest with a doedic and harvest the hives.. you'll be capped out on poly for a while
What would be helpful, is explaining that your dinos stats are well and truly padded out, and that expected yields will not even come close to approaching what you achieve with 2000+ attack damage
At like 2:35 you talk about organic polymer and you make a great point, somewhere in the wiki I read the chainsaw gets more but I have a mastercraft chainsaw and don’t get nearly as much as with the club it’s weird
Organic Polymer: Dire bear in ab (red zone) or valg ab cave Wood: Therinzino + Raft on island swamp Stone: Karky + Doed on ab Flint: Grind extra stone into flint Silica pearls: Angler in valg underwater entrance or crystal isles Crystal: Dunkleosteus in crystal isles underwater cave then use the drops to deposit stuff into ark data, can also get crystal in bushes in genesis lunar Metal: Magmasaur if you are solo on ab blue zone, or use Anky + Karky on ab blue zone Obsidian: Dunkleosteus in crystal isles cave also Berries: Use a Stego on genesis ocean pillars Chitin: Megatherium valg spider cave with a few gas masks and scuba Fiber: Therinzino on genesis ocean pillars Black Pearls: Hand Harvest in Genesis Volcano Hide: Giga + Gasbag ( for weight ) and do a hop a skip and a jump mission in genesis swamp Keratin: Mining drill the bones near ab surface entrance Oil: Dunkleosteus in underwater crystal isles cave Cactus sap: Wyvern blowing attack on cactus in rag or valg, or can use chainsaw Sap: Grind cactus sap into sap Angler Gel: Plenty of anglers in ab blue zone water if you dont want to go deep diving Gems: Gachas
Advance Beezlebufo tips: I am not sure on the exact number it might be lower, but you can kill Jug Bugs and Glow Bugs for paste if you have 450% melee before they have a chance to flee since the frog can only really hit stuff at ground level. This is extremely useful on both Scorched Earth and Aberration since there are no Beavers. Also if you are in the Aberration Green Zone after you grab a frog I recommend just going up the safer river areas (the part that doesn't have spinos, crabs, etc) and constantly kill all the fish you will get the quick levels to make most frogs level up enough to do this. For harvesting mount I usually aim for About 500% Melee Some weight: I usually aim for 400 since I try to keep most of my mounts at least the same weight as my player character The rest in HP and some in speed if you just want to be wicked fast Breed imprint of course really helps especially with speed since it levels in small increments even though these guys are still pretty fast just freshly tamed. I am not sure if you have it covered in other videos but taking a frog in the Chitin Cave will give you 1-5k paste easily in about a minute of entering the cave. Just be careful sometimes reloading the cave will spawn Arthropluera and Spiders where only Meganeura spawn so make sure your frog is able to live through it and you don't wear armor that you care about breaking. I usually can just kill the Meganeura and gather the paste and get out before I die from the caves poison gas if you're planning on running in low prepped. Extra health beyond the default 100 helps with this. I think someone said that you can have a Megatherium follow you but not harvest corpses which can be great then you just clean up with the frog. Have to try it one day since we now can get them in caves with cryopods.
Bro you make the best guide videos. This is why I have subscribed to your channel. I dont sub ro random youtubers who ask me to sub. But you actually give informative guides and they are interesting. Keep up the good content
Obsidian is gathered more efficiently by the Doed, and you should have one already, the benefit of using the Anky is the metal you get as well, so I guess personal preferences there. Note the Doed hit box IS more difficult to manage so beware there.
Roll Rats are the absolute best for farming wood. Fast moving and a huge weight reduction. Plus the can really pack on the pounds if you spec them for it.
There's a strong argument that the Mammoth (or a specialized Therizinosaur) is better for wood, but I just find the Castoroides nicer to have around the base. Having the saddle act as a mobile or 'extra' smithy is also somewhat convenient (though I suppose everyone already has an Argy for that...) If you're on Scorched Earth... well, then you probably have access to the chainsaw, but the next best thing is the Thorny Dragon. Even when I did get my chainsaw, I still rode Thorny for the weight reduction (and a bit of protection) when gathering wood. On Abberation, you want the Roll Rat.
Here’s a tip for the obsidian thing If you carry your ankylosaur on an argy argys have a 50% carrying bonus for metal obsidian and an unreasonable amount of things
Also note re: metal the Magasaur may be better for raw per hit, however with the Anky weight reduction it edges out the Magma for slot cap metal runs with Karkinos or Skiff
You forgot the moshcops for organic polly. You don’t know how underestimated it is. On official with a good dmg moshcops and all the levels in polly I get around 60 polymer per kairuku
For metal, element dust, oil and electronics its easer to make a tek parasuar farm. so a bunch of tek parasours will be stacked and make eggs that drop down to a place with ac and a wolf or therizino on aggressive so when they spawn out the egg they can emedeatly be killed and harvested.
You forgot how the rock Golem collect only stole like a doedicurus and how the magma can also collect Crystal and obsidian. Where the Rock Golem doesn't get a weight reduction for the stone, unlike the detectorists no small Predators won't attack it.
A little tip for megatheriums if u really need xp and chitin go to the island to the cave in the redwoods and if you have a 4x note active you will get a lot of XP and cp
I agree with everything but I personally think a angler on crystal isles in the pools in the pink tree biome is the most efficient way for gathering silica
I have to correct: Diplocaulus is the way to get Chitin. Farming Trilobites is easy due to the damage multiplier and them already being in water. Additionally you get both kind of pearls and oil

I would recommend to tame a therizinosaurus. They gather meat, hide, thatch, wood, fiber, and berries fairly efficiently. I ALWAYS have a theri around because it's SO useful when you have to collect one of those resources and have your jack of all trades dino.
Beaver Dams are perfect to gather cementing paste and silica pearls, never ran out of it.
AHHHH HE MENTIONED THE FROG THIS TIME!
quick pro-tip about the wild casteroides: aggro one, and trap it in a stone trap with a metal door.... and leave it the f alone. go away for a bit and come back. after a while, when you come back, you'll find yourself a nice shiny new beaver dam to raid for tons of cementing paste and wood, pearls and sometimes rare mushrooms and flowers over time. raid it, and rinse and repeat as desired. you can go in grab the stuff and run out the door, and they're too chunky to get out of it. just make sure it's at least 2 walls high. i'd make it three just in case when they come out of stasis and they end up right on top of the dam and it happens to be close to said wall.
This series is so useful. It would be great if you could redo the Handbook. The game has changed quite a bit in the last 2 years.
For organic poly get a dodic and argy/wyvern and go to giant bee cave.
I must say, I'm really impressed with your videos, the breakdown of each tame etc is so refreshing and helpful. I've been playing since 2015 and wish there was someone like you around back then to help and break everything down into easy to digest chunks!
Keep it up! Love your videos!
Too kind! Glad you enjoyed :)
replace beavers with mammoths they 75% weight red. while beaver has 50% its saddle unlock at lower lvl also raptors cant dismount you from mammoth....
Aren't rolling rats better although they are on abb
@@BlankTheBoy 😂😂😂😂 they dont have any weight red. also the saddle has durability...Nope no wood gathering with rollrat
@@shubhambalabantaray5920 they have a 80% weight reduction and if you dont roll into things with its saddle you don't got to worry about saddle durability
@@BlankTheBoy OK i agree but they are on abberation if you are playing abb. they go for it and your map has mammoth then go for it you won't like a pet mammoth hanging around at base
Raptors can dismount you from anything. As long as they're elevated. Had a raptor pin down my rex while I was just standing laughing at how small it is pinning down a larger predator.
I’m a new subscriber and i REALLY REALLY love your content. It helped me a lot since i started playing some time ago and i knew shit about breeding, taming, caving etc. I’m ready to conquer the map with my friends and dinos thanks to u :)
Thanks for the support! Welcome
you can use the dodicurus to get tons of stone and then use the industrial grinder to get a ton of flint from the stone (and adding experience).
In my new island playthrough i tamed a beezlybuffo at level 40 instantly and i didnt even know i could kill bugs for cementing paste with them Thanks!
pro tip: gachas can produce just about every resource with black pearl and element dust being the rarest things they produce and they will eat anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that is not an artifact and if given quality gear (prim through ascendent) they can in turn give you a random quality item from weapons and tools to armor and shields. They also prefer Snow owl pellets and war maps. if war maps is not availible metal structures work as well
Ive been watching videos on how to get cementing paste when i found this vid i had to watch thank you
It's so much easier to farm Trilobites with an Angler because
It spawns a lot in shallow waters free chitin and black pearls too
(Also recommend getting a stack mod very helpful for saving space)
I use a golem for stone and wood, if you grab some thatch with a wyvern or megatherium, you can craft stone structures as you go, great for building your giant stone base
Best polymer ways are a dire bear on abb or a doedic in the bee cave
Yess just smash bee hives but make sure to have great melee stat or bees will get you
Ye
I live in the radiation right above the drake nest in the pocket where there isn't radiation and I dont use crafted poly, just take my bear and harvest poly flowers. So convenient, even transfer it to use on other servers
That's one if the best ways which I use sometimes too
@@rapid4110 I live on their spawn so easy poly lol
Hi mate, for organic polymer, Bee cave on CI with a doedicurus is probably one of the best way to. Great vid!
For organic polymer the Mochops is the best, you can choose to level up the resource gathering of org polymer and it gets a lot of it
NINJA MANTIS! As soon as I learn how to play this game I'm getting one! Using your guides bro.
Yesss! It's a hard tame but you're patient enough for it lol
If your on crystal isles and need poly go to the bee cave in the red forest with a doedic and harvest the hives.. you'll be capped out on poly for a while
What would be helpful, is explaining that your dinos stats are well and truly padded out, and that expected yields will not even come close to approaching what you achieve with 2000+ attack damage
just an advice, sillica pearles also spawn on beach shores, they spawn a lot on herbivor island.
I know it’s a bit late but if you unselect the palm tree icon in the top right on the engram page it unlocks all the engrams for all the maps
I’ve been getting paste from dams, but I did not know about the beelzebuffo! I will definitely start using that method too
the giant spiders (Araneos) do it too
At like 2:35 you talk about organic polymer and you make a great point, somewhere in the wiki I read the chainsaw gets more but I have a mastercraft chainsaw and don’t get nearly as much as with the club it’s weird
"Fantastics Dinos And Where To Find Them" Was my first thought upon finding this video. 🤣🤣
Organic Polymer: Dire bear in ab (red zone) or valg ab cave
Wood: Therinzino + Raft on island swamp
Stone: Karky + Doed on ab
Flint: Grind extra stone into flint
Silica pearls: Angler in valg underwater entrance or crystal isles
Crystal: Dunkleosteus in crystal isles underwater cave then use the drops to deposit stuff into ark data, can also get crystal in bushes in genesis lunar
Metal: Magmasaur if you are solo on ab blue zone, or use Anky + Karky on ab blue zone
Obsidian: Dunkleosteus in crystal isles cave also
Berries: Use a Stego on genesis ocean pillars
Chitin: Megatherium valg spider cave with a few gas masks and scuba
Fiber: Therinzino on genesis ocean pillars
Black Pearls: Hand Harvest in Genesis Volcano
Hide: Giga + Gasbag ( for weight ) and do a hop a skip and a jump mission in genesis swamp
Keratin: Mining drill the bones near ab surface entrance
Oil: Dunkleosteus in underwater crystal isles cave
Cactus sap: Wyvern blowing attack on cactus in rag or valg, or can use chainsaw
Sap: Grind cactus sap into sap
Angler Gel: Plenty of anglers in ab blue zone water if you dont want to go deep diving
Gems: Gachas
Advance Beezlebufo tips:
I am not sure on the exact number it might be lower, but you can kill Jug Bugs and Glow Bugs for paste if you have 450% melee before they have a chance to flee since the frog can only really hit stuff at ground level.
For harvesting mount I usually aim for
About 500% Melee
Some weight: I usually aim for 400 since I try to keep most of my mounts at least the same weight as my player character
The rest in HP and some in speed if you just want to be wicked fast
Breed imprint of course really helps especially with speed since it levels in small increments even though these guys are still pretty fast just freshly tamed.
I am not sure if you have it covered in other videos but taking a frog in the Chitin Cave will give you 1-5k paste easily in about a minute of entering the cave. Just be careful sometimes reloading the cave will spawn Arthropluera and Spiders where only
Meganeura spawn so make sure your frog is able to live through it and you don't wear armor that you care about breaking.
Another polymer method is harvesting penguin babies with the pelagornis, you can get like 2k if you have a farm of them going
Thrumbnail straight to the point
Nailed the metaphors mate 😅👌
Obsidian is gathered more efficiently by the Doed, and you should have one already, the benefit of using the Anky is the metal you get as well, so I guess personal preferences there. Note the Doed hit box IS more difficult to manage so beware there.
Man your content is so polished and straight to the point. Subscribed.
Thank you! Welcome aboard :)
Roll Rats are the absolute best for farming wood. Fast moving and a huge weight reduction. Plus the can really pack on the pounds if you spec them for it.
Good to know, just started an ab run lol
Megachelon taps karkininos for 3k chitin each. Also mags get the most crystal. Btw love your videos!
you can go into the redwood cave with the beelzebufo when u have gasmask and get so much cp that u dont know where to put it
There's a strong argument that the Mammoth (or a specialized Therizinosaur) is better for wood, but I just find the Castoroides nicer to have around the base. Having the saddle act as a mobile or 'extra' smithy is also somewhat convenient (though I suppose everyone already has an Argy for that...)
If you're on Scorched Earth... well, then you probably have access to the chainsaw, but the next best thing is the Thorny Dragon. Even when I did get my chainsaw, I still rode Thorny for the weight reduction (and a bit of protection) when gathering wood. On Abberation, you want the Roll Rat.
I love the video and the series. I’m a ark beginner and always turn to this series when having trouble
Here’s a tip for the obsidian thing
If you carry your ankylosaur on an argy argys have a 50% carrying bonus for metal obsidian and an unreasonable amount of things
the greatest spot for silica pearls is in the glaciers at the snow biome, there is tons of them just sitting there not even inside the water
Which map? The Island?
The part about needing so much wood it will be annoying is true. I was building a starter house out of wood and one foundation cost 80 wood.
You are a very good youtuber or RUclips channel. You have helped me a lot in Ark. Thank you :)
For taming mantises your gonna have to kinda be a badass,he said.me:luckily for me *I AM*
Best way to gather flint is the doed… collect a shit load of rocks and put it in an industrial grinder and boom loads of flint way fast then pick axes
For metal, element dust, oil and electronics its easer to make a tek parasuar farm. so a bunch of tek parasours will be stacked and make eggs that drop down to a place with ac and a wolf or therizino on aggressive so when they spawn out the egg they can emedeatly be killed and harvested.
Achatinas secrete organic polymer but VERY slowly. Just empty them out before it spoils and load it into a fridge so it doesn't spoil too quickly
Using a moschops levelled in organic polymer gathering in combination with kairaku breeding is in my opinion the best way to gather organic polymer.
Me after watching one of these survival handbook eps: *Insert Kylo Ren's "More,More" meme!*
you can also feed mantis with the rhino horns (you need more of them but they are much easier to get)
You forgot how the rock Golem collect only stole like a doedicurus and how the magma can also collect Crystal and obsidian. Where the Rock Golem doesn't get a weight reduction for the stone, unlike the detectorists no small Predators won't attack it.
If you fill the magmasaur with rocks you can smelt metal and cook meat with out having to worry about it starving.
We all love your videos pterafier!
Nice video pterafier, as always, these tutorials, are really helping me just because i'm playing the midgame. But a question who gets more stone doed or golem?
I have both, but im building my new base so i need more stone quickly
Did you watch the video? Doedicurus lol
@@pterafier I disagree. Rock Elementals will gather Stone far faster and can carry far more.
and Rock Elementals make fairly decent base guards with as tanky as they can be while still dishing out decent damage
Im exactly in midgame and this helps, thanks!
The best way to get organic poly is with a bear on ab, the white bushes in the pink zone give it.
Omg thanks a lot you just saved me hours of cementing paste making😭😭😭😭
4months old I know but I have never made cementing paste. Just raid the beaver dams. They are filled with them
Be wary taming mantis near the volcano on ragnarok. I was feeding mine it’s last death worm horn when I figured out that the lava trails down the mountain are solid and turn to lava on a timer. Me and the mantis sunk into the lava and died.
just wanted to say the best way to get org Polly is bee cave with a hatchet but his method is still pretty good as a starter
Great video as always ptera! There are a lot of great tips in here that will help a ton of people!
