I think you underrated Aberration a little bit because you can't get cactus broth for the bossfight by default on this map. Also it's extremly hard to get element on it because you need two alpha trophies of an alpha Reaper and an alpha Basilisc and they're extremly hard to find. And doing alpha Rockwell is the best way to get element.
Absolutely. I have 100% beaten ARK Survival Evolved across all 12 maps, unlocking all 1000 notes & getting Mjolnir & can validate/backup/support this video.

Thanks! I think they make some alpha missions slightly easier and probably make the bog a little easier as well, my guess is they do this through adding a new creature that helps early game progression
Honestly, the island would be easier if it wasn't for the abysmal wild dino levels. It's insane. On most maps, I try to get 150s for the breeding lines but, on the island, I'll take 120s because 150s are just so hard to find and they're still not guaranteed to be good, depending on stat distribution
@bigyeet8905 definitely disagree. the caves are tough (far more so than half the other maps). dragon requires actual prep work, and you can't use carnivores really. Do you play vanilla? If not, you may have a vastly distorted perception of difficulty as some mods/rates affects maps differently.
I think you're spot on about Scorched Earth. IMHO, it is the 2nd hardest map to start on, just because there's nowhere safe. Every starting location can spawn daeodons, raptors, and/or dire wolves. The pigs are the worst, as their high hp and regeneration can simply make them unkillable if they are a bit higher level. But as soon as you break past that early game - once you have a flier, and a decent combat tame - 99% of the difficulty vanishes. The only challenges left are your first wyvern egg and actually prepping for the boss. Between that and the constantly annoying weather, that's why it's my least favorite map. The beginning isn't hard for any fun reason. It's just "does the weather kill me", "does a random spawn show up and kill me while I'm building/distracted/etc", and "can I find & tame a creature without me or it dying"? And after that, it's just a constant barrage of nuisance weather, ridiculously boring map variety (only really 3 biomes on the map; dunes, interior, and interior mountains), and a slow march to the easy boss kills.
id say smt that makes scorched annoying is the awful loot drops in ascended atleast, desert drops had so many low tier items added to their loot pools and got qualities significantly nerfed
Doing gen 1 solo is arguably impossible and the biggest reason why is because gigas don’t spawn on the map at all, which are basically required for the insane missions
I did it once years ago with a ridiculous Theri line, but it's absolutely the hardest map to beat solo by a mile. Id bring in capped Theris and would still take multiple attempts on some of the hardest missions
I gotta switch abberation and the island - solely because cactus broth isn’t available on abberation to my knowledge, and the difficulty of the boss spikes insanely high as a solo. Other than that awesome list

Extinction and gen 1 were my picks right from the start, though i am surprised to see gen 2 fairly high. I rly want to play through gen 1 again tbh, but all my friends are either done with ark, or are waiting for it in ascended.

Nice Video, what would be interesting is your list on a open PvP or PvE cluster like small Tribes. In my Opinion it should slightly change due to the availability of certain things/ tames on other maps
I think Island gets a boatload easier because bringing cactus broth over makes Overseer free to cheese, as well as Island just not having as much stuff as every other map. Ab gets easier too if you can bring a bloodstalker over, most of the earlier releases just get easier because you get access to more OP later DLC content!
I’ve only ever touched the Island, I’m such a story buff when it comes to these types of games that I won’t touch the next map until the Island is done 😂 P.s 11:40 you accidentally put the manticore on the brood mothers place! Good vid tho!

What was everyone’s first ever map? Mine was Scorched Earth But my ark play through was like this Scorched earth Ragnarok Aberration Extinction Then I stopped because the tribe group died.
@@JasesAce I think because Scorched Earth has the early game, which is something that sticks out at you, you remember the struggle, with the island it's hard but not brutal for the whole mid-late game, and I also think you die alot more on scorched than the island, but the island is 100% harder

My list is somewhat similar but it goes: 11. Gen 2 10. Crystal isles 9. Lost island 8. Scorched earth (it becomes a cake walk at midgame especially cuz only 3 artifacts and they’re all ez to get) 7. Valguero 6. Center (there are a few difficult artifacts and one of them is literally useless) 5. Ragnarok 4. The island (abysmal spawns and low variety) 3. Aberration 2. Extinction 1. Gen 1
@ I don’t think you can if you don’t have scorched DLC but you may be able to with it, I haven’t played the map in like 6* years so we’re in the same boat 😂
I’ve never beat an ark map despite having about 500 hours across pc, Xbox, ase, and asa. I recently started on asa scorched earth and just got my first few wyverns. Hoping this is the attempt I stick with and finally beat!
The only thing id disagree with was your opinion on Rockwell just because catus broth isn't obtainable on aberration and his orbs being able to track and hit you off most tames can be brutal to the unacquainted, otherwise I think this was a pretty good list overall

I agree with most of this list some maps I have not played yet but with how you explained each it makes sense I would have probably put the island at least 1 tier higher considering it is a grind and finding high level dinos when the island is notorious for spawning low level creatures makes it hard to find strong dinos for the boss fights
Fjorder at 5 is kinda high cause I’m gonna beat it as my first map simply because of shadowmanes they just make every boss (expect the dragon of course) look like a joke because of how op they are
It does give you just about everything they could ever want tame and item wise but I think Scorched is such a joke of an end game and is so fast to beat once you stop burning alive that it is still below Fjordur just based on time investment requirements

O stopped playing in 2019 came back 1 week ago, came back to no ragnarok and a whole bunch of other maps. What happened to them? I watched some videos and I seen that there are machines to hatch eggs and I am hella confused.
Ascended is slowly adding them in, extinction comes next week and then ragnarok after that. Egg incubators are basically a machine that you can set the temperature on a screen so eggs are always at optimal temps. They've added a lot! I'd check out my OG Features video, you might like that one
Hearing that my first 3 maps im loading up. Is in order of difficulty but yet still not different 4rm eachother makes me think imma bout to hit the same level 3 times. Im talking about the Center Valuguero and Ragnarok.
That's a funny coincidence, if you want to go to the next tier up difficulty wise I'd start on Fjordur because that map is super fun and you have so much freedom to approach it in different ways
There is one aspect that cranks up every map difficulty, this being other players (pvp), especially on maps like scorched, where the big tribes close routes to the main essential resources sources, in my opinion, new players should begin on the hardest maps, without friends to help, because if they manage to do it, there's nothing to come that they can't manage, including pvp wars, I suggest aberration and scorched, as both are hard early gane, and have constant unpredictable environmental threats, it prepares the player to be aware of its scrounging at all time ready for something to jump at them, to find their way to the best sources of resources passing through the most dangerous areas and conditions having little tools and creatures to manage it, and to persevere over fail attempts, if there is one thing that ark pvp thought me is: "doesn't matter how beefed up you are, how many powerful defenses you have, anyone can eventually take it from you, the only thing they can't take is your skill to start over and to overcome their defenses with little in hand"
I think Ab is great for preparing for the PVP side of the game especially because of the environment being dangerous even as you progress into the late game, scorched becomes easy somewhat quickly in comparison IMO, thanks for the thorough comment!

I actually wanted to play thought the main 4 maps in order and did the Island (Tek cave killed most of my Rex's rather than the boss) and then Scorched earth which was frankly easy the way i was playing as I got go myself to an Obelisk and transfured my otter over. Then I got the Abberation and frankly I gave up. I took me hours to get even something set up and then finding out that there are no Flyers on the map just killed my enjoyment of the map. I also never downloades Genesis eaither as I knew part 1 was brutal and part 2 a joke, now to know that part 1 doesn't allow flyers eaither. Yea I'm glad I went onto Fyordir
Yeah Ab has a very steep learning curve and finding a drop is stupidly difficult to do even if you've played before upon first spawning in, I'd at least try Extinction, it is extremely hard but the map is more fair in its difficulty like Fjordur than the other maps at the top of my list
I haven't looked into it much to be honest as I've been busy making these videos, but I have seen the sheer size of it so I'd expect its at least in the top half!
Imma keep it real, the only hard part about gen1 is doing missions for master controller and then doing him solo. The rest of The map is trivial heres a 3 step guide Step 1: spawn in bog Step 2: tame bloodstalker Step 3: you win
I get what you mean about genesis part 2 being extremely easy but you overlooked the most difficult part of it. That being the boss, Rockwell on genesis part 2 is easily the hardest boss in the game and that should count towards the final score. I would put genesis part 2 at number 7-6

I thought SE was one of the easiest after ealry game as well but the ASA version had super boosted caves compared to ASE which definitely through me for a loop. I was even using a Pyromane pre nerfed. I also think Aberration becomes stupid easy after getting a rock drake
@@junkers87stuka71 it actually is in Ascended! There’s a cave that drops thorny saddles which can be industrially grinded to get cactus, look up “how to get cactus broth aberration” there’s a good tutorial on it by Jonna-X
It’s a grindy one for sure, the most consistent strategy in my opinion is just making a super strong theri army because it’s strong vs all bosses and Tek Cave

ive said in previous videos i think its the best map in ark, its just definitely more challenging than most maps even for experienced players because it just simply has more things that can kill you in it, the mushrooms alone are more dangerous than anything on crystal isles

I definitely think it’s Gen 1 but Extinction is by far harder than everything else. Extinction is the only map in the game that has an argument other than Gen 1 IMO
They're just grouped in with the missions for the sake of this video, if I wasn't considering the mission bosses Gen 2 would be lower and Gen 1 would still be the hardest
Idk man gen1 was super easy. Yes the master controller is kinda difficult to get to but easy to beat. The map itself is easy, steg one kill ovis get mutton go passive tame one of the million mega high level basilo in the underwater biom get a bunch breed them up and absolutely destroy moder a thousand times you get insane loot from him sometimes and it will make the rest of the map easy, not to mention the lunat biom you literally can punch your way away from anything as long as you have med brews its easy af. There are youtube videos that explain the way to beat every alpha mission. So yes a brand new player, no tribemates and no youtube sure it would be insanely difficult butha very very very small amount of people play like that
@@JasesAce still the average player wouldn’t know about that and if you didn’t have that, it’s almost impossible to beat the alpha boss without a ascended shotgun, even with a full team of rock Drakes

I stand by it, I’m probably biased but beating Rockwell is so easy now that you can get cactus broth on aberration and I think a hard/grindy late game is harder than ab early/mid game
I hope when they bring Fjordur into ASA that they don't ruin the graphics like they did with every other map in game. ASA is so grainy and blurry looking and poorly optimized.

@@jelenaraskovic6355 scorched can also be beaten tameless, the reality is that reflects more on the boss fight than the entire map in my opinion. Boss difficulty ranking is actually in the works right now and will reflect what you’re saying more strongly
The island introduces you to taming the dinosaur they are all low level Scorched earth introduces you to the how dangerous the environment can be Aberration teaches you about how you are never safe as the namless can pop out of nowhere

As a new player any map is hard, doesnt matter what map or how easy it can be, if they dont know what dinos to use or what strats to get the best ones or whatever it becomes way harder
Yeah of course pvp is harder, especially official where everyone is cheating and you have to be online 24/7, this is a comment I would’ve made a couple years ago actually but I think Gen 1 is pretty hard to beat solo PVE and extinction is super grindy

Yeah the low levels are brutal for getting the mid game started, I’m picky and still do ~135+ for island and it’s awful

yeah I've beaten all the maps at least once and I'm pretty happy with the rankings, Scorched Earth and Fjordur was the biggest tossup for me

Istg man, i cant stand starting in gen 1 because its either dying 97 times in the bog or spending 97 years trying to find materials in the ocean

I agree with most of this list some maps I have not played yet but with how you explained each it makes sense I would have probably put the island at least 1 tier higher considering it is a grind and finding high level dinos when the island is notorious for spawning low level creatures makes it hard to find strong dinos for the boss fights
Yeah I considered putting it over Aberration but it definitely is easier than Extinction and Gen 1, glad you enjoyed!
Fjorder at 5 is kinda high cause I’m gonna beat it as my first map simply because of shadowmanes they just make every boss (expect the dragon of course) look like a joke because of how op they are
It does give you just about everything they could ever want tame and item wise but I think Scorched is such a joke of an end game and is so fast to beat once you stop burning alive that it is still below Fjordur just based on time investment requirements

O stopped playing in 2019 came back 1 week ago, came back to no ragnarok and a whole bunch of other maps. What happened to them? I watched some videos and I seen that there are machines to hatch eggs and I am hella confused.
Ascended is slowly adding them in, extinction comes next week and then ragnarok after that. Egg incubators are basically a machine that you can set the temperature on a screen so eggs are always at optimal temps. They've added a lot! I'd check out my OG Features video, you might like that one

Hearing that my first 3 maps im loading up. Is in order of difficulty but yet still not different 4rm eachother makes me think imma bout to hit the same level 3 times. Im talking about the Center Valuguero and Ragnarok.
That's a funny coincidence, if you want to go to the next tier up difficulty wise I'd start on Fjordur because that map is super fun and you have so much freedom to approach it in different ways

There is one aspect that cranks up every map difficulty, this being other players (pvp), especially on maps like scorched, where the big tribes close routes to the main essential resources sources, in my opinion, new players should begin on the hardest maps, without friends to help, because if they manage to do it, there's nothing to come that they can't manage, including pvp wars, I suggest aberration and scorched, as both are hard early gane, and have constant unpredictable environmental threats, it prepares the player to be aware of its scrounging at all time ready for something to jump at them, to find their way to the best sources of resources passing through the most dangerous areas and conditions having little tools and creatures to manage it, and to persevere over fail attempts, if there is one thing that ark pvp thought me is: "doesn't matter how beefed up you are, how many powerful defenses you have, anyone can eventually take it from you, the only thing they can't take is your skill to start over and to overcome their defenses with little in hand"
I think Ab is great for preparing for the PVP side of the game especially because of the environment being dangerous even as you progress into the late game, scorched becomes easy somewhat quickly in comparison IMO, thanks for the thorough comment!

I actually wanted to play thought the main 4 maps in order and did the Island (Tek cave killed most of my Rex's rather than the boss) and then Scorched earth which was frankly easy the way i was playing as I got go myself to an Obelisk and transfured my otter over. Then I got the Abberation and frankly I gave up. I took me hours to get even something set up and then finding out that there are no Flyers on the map just killed my enjoyment of the map. I also never downloades Genesis eaither as I knew part 1 was brutal and part 2 a joke, now to know that part 1 doesn't allow flyers eaither. Yea I'm glad I went onto Fyordir
Yeah Ab has a very steep learning curve and finding a drop is stupidly difficult to do even if you've played before upon first spawning in, I'd at least try Extinction, it is extremely hard but the map is more fair in its difficulty like Fjordur than the other maps at the top of my list

I haven't looked into it much to be honest as I've been busy making these videos, but I have seen the sheer size of it so I'd expect its at least in the top half!
Imma keep it real, the only hard part about gen1 is doing missions for master controller and then doing him solo. The rest of The map is trivial heres a 3 step guide
Step 1: spawn in bog
Step 2: tame bloodstalker
Step 3: you win
Fair, I do think the end game and missions are hard enough for it to be the top map here anyway though

To me I think the island or ragnarok are the best map for players starting out because they are simple but still provides enough of a Challenge.

I get what you mean about genesis part 2 being extremely easy but you overlooked the most difficult part of it. That being the boss, Rockwell on genesis part 2 is easily the hardest boss in the game and that should count towards the final score. I would put genesis part 2 at number 7-6

Gen 2 on console should be one of the hardest maps. Missions like Star Dolphin are extremely hard
I could definitely see that argument, if the missions on gen 2 were ridiculously hard I’d probably move it up somewhere around scorched and fjordur

I thought SE was one of the easiest after ealry game as well but the ASA version had super boosted caves compared to ASE which definitely through me for a loop. I was even using a Pyromane pre nerfed. I also think Aberration becomes stupid easy after getting a rock drake

Calling aberrations boss easy with broth when it isn't naturally available on ab is the only issue i had with this whole thing
@@junkers87stuka71 it actually is in Ascended! There’s a cave that drops thorny saddles which can be industrially grinded to get cactus, look up “how to get cactus broth aberration” there’s a good tutorial on it by Jonna-X

For me i think if you know what your doing aberration is a great map
ive said in previous videos i think its the best map in ark, its just definitely more challenging than most maps even for experienced players because it just simply has more things that can kill you in it, the mushrooms alone are more dangerous than anything on crystal isles

I agree with 99% of the list but i still think extinction is slightly harder than genesis 1
I definitely think it’s Gen 1 but Extinction is by far harder than everything else. Extinction is the only map in the game that has an argument other than Gen 1 IMO

They're just grouped in with the missions for the sake of this video, if I wasn't considering the mission bosses Gen 2 would be lower and Gen 1 would still be the hardest

Idk man gen1 was super easy. Yes the master controller is kinda difficult to get to but easy to beat. The map itself is easy, steg one kill ovis get mutton go passive tame one of the million mega high level basilo in the underwater biom get a bunch breed them up and absolutely destroy moder a thousand times you get insane loot from him sometimes and it will make the rest of the map easy, not to mention the lunat biom you literally can punch your way away from anything as long as you have med brews its easy af. There are youtube videos that explain the way to beat every alpha mission. So yes a brand new player, no tribemates and no youtube sure it would be insanely difficult butha very very very small amount of people play like that

As a new player any map is hard, doesnt matter what map or how easy it can be, if they dont know what dinos to use or what strats to get the best ones or whatever it becomes way harder
of course of course, this list assumes the player is familiar with the objectives of the map and how the game works

If you're playing pvp, everything is hard. If you're playing pve, everything is easy. that's how i look at it.
Yeah of course pvp is harder, especially official where everyone is cheating and you have to be online 24/7, this is a comment I would’ve made a couple years ago actually but I think Gen 1 is pretty hard to beat solo PVE and extinction is super grindy
