Scorched earth is where I spent most of my time on official servers back in the day. The solo pvp journey on that map was so so rewarding since the experience gap that confronts you once you spawn. Up until level 60 ish you are at the bottom of the food chain. Clawing your way out just to settle in a 2 by 1. Oil bugs and plenty of metal kept the grenades flowing and my tiny monkey brain satisfied with blowing lil Bobby boys bases to bits
Crystal Isles was WAY better before WC made it an official map. They removed a lot out of it from how iSPEZZ and his team designed it to be. There are so many "dead spots" on the map now. But thankfully, with the help of mods and tools like Beacon you can make it like it was intended to be.
@@Spiney09 I have no doubt most content from these maps were taken out solely for the purpose of restricting them in order to have to pay for the content added in the paid DLCs. Can't have those Rock Drakes unless you pay for them! Which is totally stupid now after Fjordur was added.
@@devans83 yeah that was exactly why people thought they did it. And it tracks. It pains me to see fjord do so well (my own second favorite map) because those were the same devs as Val. Fjord is what Val could have been had wildcard not done what they did.
@@Spiney09 No one really goes down there anyways. I was on Val for 4 years because I thought it was the best looking map with some scenic spots which you can see the entire map from, only went down to rad zone 1 time when the map first came out lol
My favorite map based on creatures added and map design is definitely aberration as it was something different from the traditional ark experience with the lack of flyers and a need for adaptation to maneuver the caves. I also agree that Rag, The Island and Fjordur are some amazing maps for what they did for the game whether being a good base for further additions to the game or to inovate and further expand on already existing ideas and concepts.
I love Ab as a lot of other persons commented, and I think it is mostly because I only play single player (or with a few friends without randoms, but it hasn't happened in ages) with no cross-map transfers. It makes Aberration truly one of a kind, as there is no easy mode. As you said, in scorched, the game becomes easy once you get your first wyvern, and I feel that flyers in general allow for a much easier game, and Aberration is the only map with no flyer, except Rock drakes and (kinda) reapers, which are both very hard to get imo. I found that it was much easier to get a wyvern in scorched, because you can already avoid most of the dangers of the map with an argentavis and craft turrets for your first wyvern trench incursion. As a result, I feel it makes for a better experience than even the Island, because there is a slow, steady and measurable progression!
i love how unique of a take abberation takes on the ark gameplay. Its a massive change from the status quo, though it’s interest for me quickly dips off after obtaining rock drakes. But i still love it for the concept
Valguero is my personal favorite. I know it’s one of the least like maps but the landscape is so unique and beautiful. I have a long wait for it to be in ASA and that saddens me lol
Abberation for me is S Tier. It was hands down the best DLC map Wildcard could have given us, why? Because it was so very different. It wasn't just the same biomes we've seen before, it gave us something completely new and unique and still stands out today many map releases later. They tried to give that with Scorched but, because there was truly only one Biome in Scorched and that a desert was inevitably gonna be done again due to the lack of one on Island.
I really love Valguero, is a new formula with the inland sea instead of beeing surrounded by water. I also love the white cliff area and my favorite dino, the Dinonychus. Edir: I loved crystal islands artefakt system because i HATE the dungeons especially as a solo player.

Scorched Earth is genuinely the most fun I had in ARK. My mates and I played it in late 2019 & early 2020 on a private PvE server, before Genesis Part 1 came out. Playing it by itself, not part of a cluster, improves it a lot. The weather, anti-stone & metal structure mechanics, lack of gigas, quetzals etc. and rarity of water make you adapt your play style. Increased spoiling of food and containers leaking water make you value those a bit more. We chose to do the Manticore fight with Lightning Wyverns (this was before you could breed wyverns mind you, no mutations) and it was the most chaotic fun ever. Nothing like watching 19 wyverns zapping the Manitcore as I was running around on the Yuty trying to buff them all while evading Rock Elementals and Deathworms. The ascension cutscene is the best imho and did a great job of telling ARK's story without spelling it out to. Also the old PvP videos for the map are amazing. I highly recommend Nooblets' 2016-17 series he did on Official PvP. The fights on that are things you would literally NEVER see the last years of ASE or now in ASA.
I absolutely love Crystal Isles as a solo player, but it suffered a lot from the game it's in. Ground clutter would rapidly appear/disappear/shift around from my poor computer trying to figure out the unoptimized mess, large swathes of no critters and then pockets of population bombs... but boy... it was so pretty. It was so pretty I didn't even hate going to the swamp! I knew where I was all the time because the foliage was so distinct in different areas. Lots of water throughout the map for rafts. But it got so framey! and so jittery! I need the map to get some TLC and the benefits of a better engine (and hopefully, no more spaghetti code)
The center is like C tier for me, simply because of how often it rains and the lightning is soooo obnoxious. If ASA will tone that down a little bit, I would bump it up the list
Really enjoyed the video, The Island for sure is my absolute favorite map! That’s where I started and it’s one of the only maps I really stayed with over the years. I would visit Scorched, Center and Rag once in a while for resources or different Dino’s but my main map was always The Island. I tried Aberration once or twice and really did not like it at all lol. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing. A little time after that is when I stopped playing. But this new UE5 release has really gotten me back into Ark!
I thought I was the only one who loved the center. It was my longest played map. Back when it released I enjoyed it so much more than the island and even stayed when scorched came out.
The Center is still one of the most unique maps, even though most of its features have been taken and improved by other maps. No other map has such huge cliffs/waterfalls or a massive waterfall (or, originally, a drop into the void) at the map edge.
The center was 80% of my ark experience, I'll never forget accidentally jumping into the volcano with an accendent crossbow, or losing a quetz that I spent 6 hours taming because i flew over the swamp and dragonflys were hungry.
Aberration is probably the best map, my only issue with it is just how hard it is to start out on. I think they intended ab to be a stepping stone in cluster servers but most people prefer to start raw on ab. The basilisks and ravager packs spawning in the easier zones can be utterly ruinous to someone not even on their feet. With basilisks, you can't even do much cause they tend to stay put, leading them away isn't an option.
That first time you hunted a reaper , built a huge trap to get impregnated deep in the darkness of the radiation zone to then build your cage to birth your new baby reaper as it explodes from your guts. Aberration is S for me.
I definitely agree you on this ranking. Ragnarok and Fjordur really are the superior ark maps (in my opinion), and the island brings me such a sense of nostalgia that I couldn't imagine putting it anywhere else. However, the first map I ever played on Ark (on my brother's Xbox) was Scorched, and that makes me a bit more inclined to rank it higher. It has so much nostalgia for me and if Ragnarok hadn't released as closely to it as it had, I think it would be a much more appreciated map than it is.
i only played gen 2 the island and rag. i gotta say i love all 3 maps. but if i have to choose a favorite its gotta be the island becous of nostalgia. i remember watching a mate play on the island in beta and still remember the absolute fear we had when we first met a raptor:P
@@frostflame45 aberration is way more basic, at least rag and fjordur have good reason to be favourites, aberration has one redeeming quality which isnt even exclusive to it
We started playing ASE just a few months ago as a group. Started on Ragnarok, but after Shockbyte's new servers screwed up our saves (thanks, Shockbyte), we moved to a new host on a Fjordur map. Really liking it so far. Got my base at the plum tree village in Asgard. We'll probably also get an Extinction save going soon, it looks pretty sweet. Thanks for the video!
It’s so funny because everyone I know hates aberration but it’s the main map that I keep coming back to year after year. It’s my favorite by far in every aspect from progression, difficulty, creatures, loot, everything

Extinction: S this good Lost island: A+ very cool Genesis: S Tier fav map. I love missions funnest part of the game and adds a fun challenge. In my opinion Gen2 B tek suit spawn kinda sucks and the only cool part is the ab part, I do still love missions tho. Fjordur: S+ very very good Edit: wrong order sorry
@@vgvg541 I agree on that, the Aberration zone was heavily nerfed from its modded version, luckily the mod maker has a mod for added spawns Definitely a worse Rag
Bro how Is gen 1 in S tier that map is miserable to play on like ask literally anybody who’s played it, how do you think the missions are fun when it’s just the same 3 things over and over and over again just to get terrible loot
Personally, Fjordur is my favorite map. It reminds me of Rag, but has more water space and better caves. Its overall, the most diverse and captivating map.
I concur with your opinion on The Center, I just absolutely love it with the underground locations. Aberration is probably my favorite map overall simply because I have some good memories of being the server's designated bulk-courier, I had a convoy of 10 bred paracers + some guard animals that I would take around handling other tribes' shipping. No matter the distance or cargo, I got it there safe every time...I miss those days. I haven't played genesis or extinction but genesis specifically seems just...gimmicky.
Fjordur is truley one of my favorite maps to play on, the awesome base locations there are like Direbear Cave or the Cave behind the waterfall in Vanaheim around East teleportation are by far my 2 favorite base locations in PVP maps, also the amount of dept put into the maps like the 3 realms, underground Ocean, and so much more make it such a awesome and scarily fun map to play
My list The island: A The center: D Scorched earth: C Ragnarok: S Abberation: S Extinction: A Valguero: haven’t played Gen part 1 and 2: haven’t played Crystal isles: B Lost island: A Fjordur: B
I'd put the centre in C as it's got a better ocean than any other map that has an ocean bar gen 1, while still having nice land content. I think aberration is too structured and controlling in terms of its gameplay and it didn't really feel fun for me because I wanted to build up and explore at my own rate but I couldn't because I would need x resource to venture x area or I'd need to wait for a certain season for a better chance to see an area that's just gonna rip me to shreds just so I can get a drop. overall I think you're pretty alright, and obviously our experiences are different, and mad respect.
I really loved my aberration playthrough. It almost felt like a challenge run without any flyers, it helped me start to love the Spino and traveling with the ravagers on the zip lines always made travel fun
I didn't play ARK in its first few years of life, so not having cryopods in ASA will be quite interesting I'm sure. Will make the game a lot longer if I have to prep the saddle ahead of time to ride the dino back to base. Will definitely be making a centralized base ASAP on every map. Side note: I really wish Maewings were on every map due to their insane land travel speeds, and being decent swimmers as well...bonus points for being almost as cute as otters lol
Yeah no cryos are a complete game changer! Like you say it will make the game much longer but I think that is a very good thing, especially when at the start we only have the one map!

Aberration is the map I first started Ark on, and while it is indeed challenging, I will always hold it near and dear to my heart for me, aberration is SSS tier, peak ark design... challenging at the start, but properly rewarding with map dominance once you get going over it, as Ark should be... after all, Ark has always been about the endgame experience, and aberrations uniquely beautiful and challenging design makes the endgame both very satisfying, and visually stunning with aberration already being breathtaking in ue4, I cant wait to see how it will look in unreal engine 5
I absolutely love the island and abberation. I always played a little bit a couple of years ago but last year I decided to play all the canon maps and complete them entirely, so thats including all the explorer notes. I absolutely loved the island and abberation. The island has lovely caves for the artefacts, which I absolutely love and abberation is by far the most unique map. Abberation taught me how to survive without a flyer, which was great.
Nicely thought out tier list. I stopped playing around gen1 and so most of that is mysterious to me but it sounds like I need to check out Fjordur sometime. Cool stuff. Take care
In My Opinion: S Tier: • Abberation (The Goat Of Uniqueness And Difficulty) • Ragnarok (The Goat Of Fibercraft PvP And PvP In General) • The Island (The Goat Of Single Player) A Tier: • Scorched Earth (Fun Map And Mantis Go Brr) • The Center (Classic Map With Good Base Spots) • Fjordur (Same Problem With Lost Island And Is Way Too Big Imo) • Lost Island (Fun But Made Official Dlcs Useless) B Tier: • Valguero (Boring Forgetable Map) C Tier: • Crystal Isles (Only Used For Crystal Wyverns And The Base Spots Are Mid) D Tier: • Genesis 1 (Bloodstalkers Being Insanely Broken And The Other Map Exclusives Being Useless) F Tier: • Genesis 2 (Made PvP More Unbalanced Than It Was)
As someone who beat ark (with quality of life mods that allow me to upgrade tools and all that other stuff that makes the game enjoyable) i can say that aberration was hell to beat, scorched earth was just nice and calm and not that hellish except for the wyverns.. those things are not so nice to encounter, the island was hell and exhausting, extinction was..honestly pretty fun and calm most of the time, i hated Genesis..i did not like having to do like 89+ missions to be able to fight a boss i barley even beat on gamma, genesis part 2 was mostly nice and fun..really did not like all the crashing, heck i even got a reaper on that map :D and i beat almost every alpha mission, some were just not possible for me to do..i hate that boat, as for fjordur man..that was in general fun and amazing to play loved the bosses, except for that bear with all that flipping defense :/ For some reason most of the bosses felt alot easier on alpha then when i fought them on gamma :p I did every achievement as well some were legit, some i did by using cheats, if your wondering which ones i used cheats for..that would be beta ascension, all explorer notes (seriously who has time to find 1k notes and master zoologist sorta, i just spawned in the creatures i needed to tame and tamed them legit :p still cheating..but atleast i did it how it was intended- As for the other maps, i never tried to beat those :p And i never beat that big fish in genesis-
my favorite map is and will be scorched earth, it is the best challange to test survivor and adding first mythic cratures like wyverns or phoenix changed game forever
This is probably a weird opinion, but from a purely cosmetic lens, Genesis 2 is my favorite map tied with Abberation. I just love the fact that you’re on a giant ship floating through space, and a lot of the landscapes and physical locations are super cool. Such as, Rockwell’s innards, or the underground space ocean. Some might argue that it’s barren, which is fair, though to me its size and general makeup is enough to satisfy me. However, gameplay-wise, the criticism is entirely valid, so it’s not something I disagree with.
Abberation is an s tier imo purely because of the progression, exactly what you said in the fact that it’s hard to begin with and easy toward the end, that’s how every map should be in my opinion. Plus the addition of the karkinos, rock drake, light pets and reapers. The fact that you have no fliers makes it 10 times better as well because you spend the majority of your time flying above any danger on an argy or quetz for most of the game, abberation removes this and forces you to work with ground dinos
Insane vid allways. My rabking is like this: S-the island, extintion(probably), abberation, fjordur A-ragnarok, valgero, lost island, gen 1(probably), scorched(probably) B-center(map is great but similar to the island, also worse), crystal isles D-gen 2(i know this isnt popular opinion, but i hate the early game if there is one, the boss is...not who knows how good, and there isnt the feeling of surviving, this is only opinion of course)
I was in high school when ARK released, I bought it, despite knowing my PC wouldnt handle it. I racked up 400 hours playing only on weekends when I had PC access, running the game on the lowest settings possible at an unstable 30fps. I loved building, taming dinos, and exploring. I eventually quit after being fed up about getting raided while i was away during the week. In 2020, i finally bought my own gaming PC that could run ARK, but the game was already unrecognizable to where i left off (a few months after Ragnarok was released maybe) so it was simply too overwhelming. Still hoping one day i have the time and nerve to take the game on again.
The genesis era caused massive amounts of inflation. Back in the day if you had a tek base or even a metal one you were somebody. After? Every level 15 beach bob with a stone pick axe has a tek mansion at south beach on the island
My Thoughts: Crystal isles is an odd one. The perfect map for Builders, with the easiest progression, gorgeous visuals and flat space everywhere. Pretty meh for everyone else. Center has a lot of ideas that no other map has, but is rather unpolished. I really like it, and hope it'll get a visual overhaul for ASA. Gen 1 has excellent map design, with each biome being beautiful and thematic. But the mission system and its restrictions make it so hard to appreciate. Valguero, Gen 2 and Lost Island have the same problem for me: While they are well put together, they aren't diverse enough to justify their size, and feel a bit empty. I'd put Abb and Ext a rank up, precisely because they are challenge maps that reward experienced players; Abb for a very challenging earlygame, Ext for lategame. (And yeah, Rag and Fjordur are unchallenged as the best maps in the game.)
As someone used to official, a lot of these maps are ruined by things that can be fixed on custom servers.. The island for an example, I look at that as a beautiful map with great base locations, and great bosses, however I mainly remember taming being an absolute pain on it, because it have a much lower level spawn rate than other maps which took away a lot of fun after maps with greater spawn rates were added.. This alone would put island on the bottom for me, before people fixed that spawn rate, the island were a boring and exhausting map to play on in clusters of other maps.
Island- S Scorched Earth- A Aberration- B (Would be S but constantly crashed for me) Extinction- A Gen 1- C Gen 2- C (Would be A but screwed me to the point I stopped playing for like a year) Ragnarok- S Valguero- A Lost Island- B Fjordur- S Never really played Crystal Isles or The Center so can't rank them
Center was always kind of glitchy and somehow felt empty sometimes. The only maps that don’t have this feeling of emptiness are island, val, abberation and maybe extinction. I loved all of those maps. Every single one. But island, val and lost island the most. Ark will always be my favourite game. Ase and asa
Aberration should be an easy S tier, there’s nothing like it in the game, the creatures are unique and the lack of flyers completely changes everything
Gotta be honest. Never paid for any of the dlc, so only played the island, center, and the free dlc that were added. Ragnarok, lost island and fjordur. I love all of them. They each have their own thing going on. Fun to bounce between or start a new character on any one of them.
Aberration is easy S tier for me. It has the best design for progression out of all the maps imo, and the designs of the creatures and the maps are super unique, and the music slaps.
Fjordur for its castles and creatures, and realms and desmodus, Ragnorack landscapes and dragon areas. Aberration only thing it's missing is a flame thrower for the nameless. And love the terror reapers bring to the biome.
for me lost island is what ragnarok is for you. both are essentially remixes of the island with some content upgrades from the other maps (mostly scorched earth) and larger map in general. I played Rag for like 50 hours and 100s of Lost Island. Also Lost Island has gen2 and extinction creatures so its also better in that way for me.
after leaving around extinction and returning around fjordur i can say i mostly agree with this list, however for me abb is an s and extinction is an a. although i dont play multiplayer so that may effect my rankings
Nothing quite like exploring Ragnarok for build spaces and you find a castle above a swamp. You think 'Yeah, that could be good. Nice and elevated above the leeches and dragonflies.' Then you find the stairs and you go down. And you go down. And you go down and suddenly you've stumbled upon an absolutely enormous and pitch black cave. So, anyway, that's how I made my first base on Ragnarok.
For me Scorched Earth is one of the best maps to start out on for new players, topped only by ragnarok. Thats because the map is actually EASY. Yeah, folks will argue that you die of heat... However, as soon as you make it to one of the obelisks, heat is no issue. Just spawn near green ob, run up to it, then kit yourself out. Theres even moschops spawning near green ob, which can give you a head start. And once you cleared the area, you are good to go. Build a starter base, tame some more beasts (e.g. raptors, wolves, kapros, camelos), and when you feel ready, move onto a more resource rich area (green ob does have loads of metal, oil, sap and wood, but red ob has metal, crystal and obsidian. You can even move out into the high desert, but metal and crystal will be scarce). Theres only 3 caves and 1 boss, which isnt as overwhelming as the islands 15(?) Caves, 3 "mini" bosses and overly difficult final boss (mostly due to the pathfinding in tek cave). Ragnarok is easy to start out in bc once you reached level 10, you can grab a carrot, go into the Highlands and tame yourself a horse or even a unicorn. Horses are OP in early game. Great stamina, weight and speed and the ability to knock enemies out with a kick. As long as you watch the health, it should be fine. If not, just easily tame a new horse 😂
One of my favorites maps is definitely valgero because of the variety of biomes but they do need to add rock Drakes reapers and a blue zone to make it better
I do not have an opinion for this because I've only played on the Island I have just above 200 hours in this game And I've beaten so far only the broodmother Maybe one day I will play every map But that will probably happen In ARK SA

@@devans83 yeah that was exactly why people thought they did it. And it tracks. It pains me to see fjord do so well (my own second favorite map) because those were the same devs as Val. Fjord is what Val could have been had wildcard not done what they did.

Ragnarok holds a special place. Spent days grinding on that map during COVID
17:30 I like how Genesis part 1 is the older DLC, yet somehow manages to be the "younger brother."
aberration is the quintessential ark map for me ngl, its absolutely gorgeous and i love it so damn much
Its so different to all maps which makes it both great and annoying at times.
Truly deserves a tier of its own.
@@_papasparta_-txc-4730s tier for me
i love how unique of a take abberation takes on the ark gameplay.
Just wish Wildcard hadn’t gutted it so hard. It’s worse than CI honestly
Valguero has certain parts of the map I absolutely love other parts feel meh
Abberation for me is S Tier. It was hands down the best DLC map Wildcard could have given us, why? Because it was so very different. It wasn't just the same biomes we've seen before, it gave us something completely new and unique and still stands out today many map releases later.
They tried to give that with Scorched but, because there was truly only one Biome in Scorched and that a desert was inevitably gonna be done again due to the lack of one on Island.

The center is my fav map aswell
In my opinion fjordur and genisis part 2 were the best ark maps because of their awesome features and abundance of Dino’s
putting ab in B tier should be a crime
Yes, time to rewatch the 100 days with just Giga on Extinction and 100 days with just Direwolf on Fjordur😁
But this new UE5 release has really gotten me back into Ark!
thanks for the overview. I havent played since ragnarock was released so was needing a map overview
Funnily enough I joined ark entirely and started on Abberation.
I thought I was the only one who loved the center. It was my longest played map. Back when it released I enjoyed it so much more than the island and even stayed when scorched came out.
I played on the center whit my freind we had such a great time
The Center is still one of the most unique maps, even though most of its features have been taken and improved by other maps.
Same, so much memories
The center is F
@@Arkr.. thats an F tier take
Liking the new "mixed" content Rampy!
Glad you are enjoying it!
Yeah the only way I could get started on ab was constantly making save files and hope for the best
Don't forget Island I know it's the most basic and simple map but sometimes that's all you need Island is 4ever a S tier experience.
I started in 2018 so not really any nostalgia bias but the island is mid af
rag and fjordur are the most basic and common favorties to have
@@frostflame45 aberration is way more basic, at least rag and fjordur have good reason to be favourites, aberration has one redeeming quality which isnt even exclusive to it
Valguero and The Island are still my favorite maps. Valguero was so dang fun! I loved every second of it and the caves and biomes to explore thru.
Get out of whatever echo chamber you are in. Aberration is a much liked map. It's liked for it's uniqueness and aesthetic.
Here’s my biased list:
The island: S for nostalgia
The center: A
Scorched earth: B+ kinda pointless but cool
Ragnarok: S no explanation needed
Aberration: A cool map.
Extinction: S this good
Lost island: A+ very cool
Genesis: S Tier fav map. I love missions funnest part of the game and adds a fun challenge. In my opinion
Gen2 B tek suit spawn kinda sucks and the only cool part is the ab part, I do still love missions tho.
Fjordur: S+ very very good
Edit: wrong order sorry
You missed Valguero as well
Yeah I did sorry. B+ worse rag but I like chalk hills
@@vgvg541 I agree on that, the Aberration zone was heavily nerfed from its modded version, luckily the mod maker has a mod for added spawns

You been in the underwater caves?
I concur with your opinion on The Center, I just absolutely love it with the underground locations. Aberration is probably my favorite map overall simply because I have some good memories of being the server's designated bulk-courier, I had a convoy of 10 bred paracers + some guard animals that I would take around handling other tribes' shipping. No matter the distance or cargo, I got it there safe every time...I miss those days. I haven't played genesis or extinction but genesis specifically seems just...gimmicky.
Thanks for showing some of Fjordur. I didn't even know that map looked so amazing. I'll give it a try!
I personally think that Lost Island deserves a lot more love
Fjordur is truley one of my favorite maps to play on, the awesome base locations there are like Direbear Cave or the Cave behind the waterfall in Vanaheim around East teleportation are by far my 2 favorite base locations in PVP maps, also the amount of dept put into the maps like the 3 realms, underground Ocean, and so much more make it such a awesome and scarily fun map to play
When I started playing ark ragnarok was out so i never played the center but your explanation of it is getting me excited for it coming out on asa

The island: A
The center: D
Scorched earth: C
Ragnarok: S
Abberation: S
Extinction: A
Valguero: haven’t played
Gen part 1 and 2: haven’t played
Crystal isles: B
Lost island: A
Fjordur: B

Aberration is the map I first started Ark on, and while it is indeed challenging, I will always hold it near and dear to my heart
for me, aberration is SSS tier, peak ark design... challenging at the start, but properly rewarding with map dominance once you get going over it, as Ark should be... after all, Ark has always been about the endgame experience, and aberrations uniquely beautiful and challenging design makes the endgame both very satisfying, and visually stunning
with aberration already being breathtaking in ue4, I cant wait to see how it will look in unreal engine 5

• Ragnarok (The Goat Of Fibercraft PvP And PvP In General)
• The Island (The Goat Of Single Player)
A Tier:
• Scorched Earth (Fun Map And Mantis Go Brr)
• The Center (Classic Map With Good Base Spots)
• Fjordur (Same Problem With Lost Island And Is Way Too Big Imo)
• Lost Island (Fun But Made Official Dlcs Useless)
B Tier:
• Valguero (Boring Forgetable Map)
C Tier:
• Crystal Isles (Only Used For Crystal Wyverns And The Base Spots Are Mid)
D Tier:
• Genesis 1 (Bloodstalkers Being Insanely Broken And The Other Map Exclusives Being Useless)
F Tier:
• Genesis 2 (Made PvP More Unbalanced Than It Was)
The era of dominion servers seem to be worth it for unofficial one make sure to try them out😊
As someone who beat ark (with quality of life mods that allow me to upgrade tools and all that other stuff that makes the game enjoyable) i can say that aberration was hell to beat, scorched earth was just nice and calm and not that hellish except for the wyverns.. those things are not so nice to encounter, the island was hell and exhausting, extinction was..honestly pretty fun and calm most of the time, i hated Genesis..i did not like having to do like 89+ missions to be able to fight a boss i barley even beat on gamma, genesis part 2 was mostly nice and fun..really did not like all the crashing, heck i even got a reaper on that map :D and i beat almost every alpha mission, some were just not possible for me to do..i hate that boat, as for fjordur man..that was in general fun and amazing to play loved the bosses, except for that bear with all that flipping defense :/
For some reason most of the bosses felt alot easier on alpha then when i fought them on gamma :p
I did every achievement as well some were legit, some i did by using cheats, if your wondering which ones i used cheats for..that would be beta ascension, all explorer notes (seriously who has time to find 1k notes and master zoologist sorta, i just spawned in the creatures i needed to tame and tamed them legit :p still cheating..but atleast i did it how it was intended-
As for the other maps, i never tried to beat those :p
And i never beat that big fish in genesis-
Finally, someone who actually likes the fact that cryopods won't be in asa in the beginning. So many people keep complaining about this
my favorite map is and will be scorched earth, it is the best challange to test survivor and adding first mythic cratures like wyverns or phoenix changed game forever
I started on scorched earth and it’ll always be my favorite, I loved played it and watching RUclips series on that map
Valguaro is my absolute favrite map i probuly spent the most time on it and it’s just amazing with all the cool places to explore
Same, Valguero was so dang awesome! I always find myself going back to that map
My rabking is like this:
S-the island, extintion(probably), abberation, fjordur
A-ragnarok, valgero, lost island, gen 1(probably), scorched(probably)
B-center(map is great but similar to the island, also worse), crystal isles
D-gen 2(i know this isnt popular opinion, but i hate the early game if there is one, the boss is...not who knows how good, and there isnt the feeling of surviving, this is only opinion of course)
I came back after Scorched Earth release on ASA and am happy to say it no longer belongs in the C tier and goes straight to A, maybe even S
The Center is a superb map!
Keep telling yourself that
The Center is my favorite map too. I played it a lot with my little sister so it has a lot of nostalgia and memories with it.
CRYING ABT CYBERPUNKS ENDINGS CAN WAIT RAMPY POSTED
My Thoughts:
Crystal isles is an odd one.
That’s a fair point on the Island levels! Hopefully that will be sorted for ASA!
Island- S
Scorched Earth- A
Aberration- B (Would be S but constantly crashed for me)
Extinction- A
Gen 1- C
Gen 2- C (Would be A but screwed me to the point I stopped playing for like a year)
Ragnarok- S
Valguero- A
Lost Island- B
Fjordur- S
Never really played Crystal Isles or The Center so can't rank them
Center was always kind of glitchy and somehow felt empty sometimes. The only maps that don’t have this feeling of emptiness are island, val, abberation and maybe extinction. I loved all of those maps. Every single one. But island, val and lost island the most. Ark will always be my favourite game. Ase and asa
lost island is empty asf compared to most maps, also scorched earth is completely packed with creatures everywhere and the same is for fjordur.
Fun to bounce between or start a new character on any one of them.
aberration not leading this list is a crime, feel like nostalgia is very cloudy here
Aberration is easy S tier for me. It has the best design for progression out of all the maps imo, and the designs of the creatures and the maps are super unique, and the music slaps.
I have not played all the maps. But my favourite so far is Ragnorak. It is a good map for a 1 map server too with the variations of biomes.
Fjordur for its castles and creatures, and realms and desmodus,
Ragnorack landscapes and dragon areas.
Aberration only thing it's missing is a flame thrower for the nameless. And love the terror reapers bring to the biome.
This is the first tier list I've that I actually 100% agree with
First we have the island - proceeds to show valguero
I really do like how they made certain community maps like The Center official maps as free dlc
for me lost island is what ragnarok is for you. both are essentially remixes of the island with some content upgrades from the other maps (mostly scorched earth) and larger map in general. I played Rag for like 50 hours and 100s of Lost Island. Also Lost Island has gen2 and extinction creatures so its also better in that way for me.
my thoughts exactly
after leaving around extinction and returning around fjordur i can say i mostly agree with this list, however for me abb is an s and extinction is an a. although i dont play multiplayer so that may effect my rankings
I rarely play mp and ab is f
I really like the mushroom underwater map, but man it's pretty rough to get started for it being your first map lol.
Ahh man ragnarok ascended will be so great
Extinction changed Ark in general so much and i loved it can't wait for it in ASA
I personally think extinction should be in S tear.
My favorite map is for me personaly Extincion because of the Titans! And the Final boss
You sir get bonus points for rating The Center high
Man I’ve always wanted to get into this game back then but I just don’t have people to play this game with
I do not have an opinion for this
because
I've only played on the Island
I have just above 200 hours in this game
And I've beaten so far only the broodmother
Maybe one day I will play every map
But that will probably happen

Gotta say I agree with most of your tier list, I would move Lost island to A as it was the first map I played and as such hold a special place for me
20:22 absolutely not. Every map HAS to comeback. I never really thought about it until you mentioned it, but it's gonna be real sad if some of them get left behind.
