It's so great to hear about the 300k hp gigas. I was sure that it was like that. After a long ark break, I was very confused as I saw that gigas had somewhat around 80k hp now and was not sure if I remembered it correctly 😂
We used to make fun of "beach bobs", the players who logged once a month and never had anything besides thatch and stones We used to play at 8 fps because we were at the tame limit of 400, laying eggs constantly We even had to wait to tame something, because the server was so full that it capped. So you would drop a good dino, and then there was the message "server tame limit reached". I think it was the main reason for them to implement the cryopods And finally, the milk runs, and the giga breeding, before cryopods, owls, pigs and glitches. Dark times.
Yeah I remember all these things (I played official from ~2016-2020 after playing pve for like 6 months). The Dino caps especially I should’ve mentioned in the cryopod section in much greater detail. Thanks for the throwback
Shout out to the early days of Ark when the compy was broken AF. The bonus per compy wasn't calculated right so it ended up being multiplicative. A compy army was capable of melting literally everything in the game. Compy army > everything.
You just made me remember all this I thought I was crazy for half this stuff 😭 I was a crafting speed person only boss I beat the entire Ark evolved years was on ragnarok when I brought in a giga trying to beat all the maps legit now in ascended starting it on the center
Awesome man! Im working on starting a huge series where I do challenges on every map, gonna start with extinction and work my way back through more maps get added. Stay tuned, and good luck!
The first tlc was before any of the waves. It was the sabertooth when it got a model update. One of the og quetz taming strat for solo was chasing it with an army while holding a scorpion. The scythe was added because of the player to satisfy players who were asking about the theri release. Bugs weren't breedable till gen 1 with the bloodstalker. Similar case I believe with wyvern becoming breedable and had a size change when crystal wyverns were added in crystal isles.
yeah the saber did get patched first, the megalodon also got patched which i forgot to mention, shouldve mentioned both! also yeah i remember taming a theri the first time on those old incredibly slow rates and it taking literally 13 hours, just for me to continue using a scythe
also i think over 90% of the players dont know this, when we die we was using troodons to find our bags after death by taken him to the death location and let him sniff, and skull icon will show up to show where is our bags/body man you brough the old good days back 😭 why you do this to me🥺
I remember a buddy of mine doing that all the time and I always told him to tame me a troodon if he wanted me to try that out haha, I miss the old days of ark sometimes as well when it used to be a bare bones survival game with dinosaurs. Hope you enjoyed!
One of the most significant changes that you didn't mention was getting rid of the different tiers of rocket launchers. Used to be that you could take an entire mega base out with about 20 well placed rockets and an ascendant rocket launcher.
Yeah I included that as an image to show that off without spending like 10 seconds mentioning it separately, the blueprint rockets did a boat load of damage though
oh, so many years were pass. For me 1 of most important changes was, when wildcard create transfer, and alphas start fight each others. We start create 1st alliances and game changed)
Loot stats were absolutely busted when fishing was first released. We had a Bronto with a 400 armor platform saddle and turrets on him lmao. There was also 750dmg longnecks on official that would 1 hit almost any PT
Rates were absolutely horrible, very true. I definitely didn't emphasize this point enough when commenting on how everything used to be so much harder. I remember a Theri taking 13 hours to tame with super fast torpor drop as the biggest example of how hard everything was

The day the flyers were nerfed as was tragedy. It had to be done as you would die before a base would render but the loss of spent points wasn’t compensated. My Wyvern became a wood & thatch farmer 😬. Also RIP Ascendant Rocket Launcher. We got the BP, crafted 5 & 12 hours later they were prim 😢
Yeah being able to reallocate points wouldve been nice for sure, definitely annoying when they completely destroy creatures doing stuff like that, and yeah the rocket launcher tiers being removed absolutely obliterated my entire tribes vibe after we had farmed for days to craft them
you could spam U for the whistle stop all when breeding, and they wouldnt move around but still breed. 2 we all built ramps for our dinos cause we had too lol. I kinda miss the old kibble system. exp and taming times back in the day was like = to 0.05x today taming speed. I miss the old hud, and noise when crafting items. You can still play beta old ark before redwoods, and no snow biomes area, but you can only play solo worlds, as I havent seen anyone make a server for it. also dino were once so over powered my raptor lvl 70 had like 1500 melee before they did dino melee nerfs.

They do, but it's only when they're on high torpor that they travel to 50/50 now. In 2017, if you hit it a single time with any type of weapon it immediately started flying in that direction. Hope you enjoyed!
They were all fast, but yes the quetzal base speed was faster than today. Pumping speed obviously made them all faster fliers when that was allowed, but yes wild quetzals were a bit faster
@JasesAce yeah I played ark back then a few times but never really got a good speed glance of the quetz or even tamed one because taming back then was so long I didn't bother.. that kinda drove me away from ark a bit 😂😂
Anybody remember using vaults to surround a base before cave pvp became a thing? They were tough and almost 3 walls high. This, and being able to clip 4 walls onto 1 wall spot, so when you blow up the outer wall you have 3 more behind it Ascendant rocket launchers that could 1 tap metal bases Jesus meat, raw meat that had a spoil time of 9999 days that could duplicate into stacks
@@thebeef420 vaults surrounding bases still happened during gen 1 on water pillars especially all the time, but really never left the meta, they definitely used to be even stronger though. And yes those old launchers were INSANE

I had a friend who made a farming base up there with an anky and argy, and when he went back after the update the anky was gone and the argy was hovering over lava 😂 gotta love ark!

everytime i play ark i just get to flak armor then im sitting there wondering how the huge bases got tek and then move on, however i got new ark so im happy to see how the tek is on there
Here are some things I wanted to add for maybe a part 2: -everything was wayyyyy more buggy: it was normal that the game just crashed or you or an item bag just glitched through the floor or through a quetz platform etc -stegos were aggressive once -snow biome was smaller (there was this practicle half/half island) -before there were biomes, certain animals just spawned everywhere like apes ans mammooths -I feel like there were muchhhh less individual dinos - u could walk the beach for miles and just see maybe a trilo or something -farming was wayy harder u could gather whole bushes and dont get anything or farm a metal note with a stone pickaxe and only receive stone 💀 Im general the old ARK had a whole nother aesthetic, vibe and atmosphere to it: colder, older, less vibrant and somehow still more realistic! I could imagine our world before 70M or something years looking like this much better than like the new ARK
Very detailed comment, thanks for the notes! I remember most of these things but they didn't come to mind when I was script writing, if I make a part 2 I'll make sure to include these
I think it had pros and cons, I did like the game rewarding players for taming everything but there’s so many creatures that making kibble farms for every unique one would be annoying nowadays
I started playing earlier too, somewhere near December of 2015, but I opted to compare the official release to 2024 as opposed to early alpha so more people remembered the features. Hope you enjoyed!
@JasesAce definitely, the nostalgia is crazy, in my opinion i enjoyed ark way more before tek, however i kept playing until gen2 released, when i spawn with a tek suit i was like "nope, im done" 😂. Came back for ASA tho and having a blast, better yet would be the ability to erase all my memories of ark and start it all over again knowing nothing.
@@jt6mania558 haha that was my exact reaction to Gen 2, I kind of liked it after a while because of the unique base locations like the tunnels going into the void but it definitely was too tek-dependent. ASA has been a breath of fresh air, glad youre enjoying it!
actually i do slightly remember that but i never put much thought into it back then so i wouldn't remember it well enough to add it as a talking point here
You practically missed an entire section, breeding. Dinos used to eat massively more, took longer to raise, had to imprint more often, had a random imprint bonus within a certain range, imprint timers were randomized a bit too, no cryopods massively affected raising, didn't have to breed out useless stats because they didn't have the dino level cap, raising was much more time intensive because no incubator, no dinos helped you raise, etc. Only the real OG chads had 100% imprint gigas. Imprint every 2 hours, massive meat runs every 4 hours at least, for weeks on end. Then they had the wall and floating exploit to reduce how much they ate. Can make an entire video on just breeding and how everything impacted it.
i think the biggest change is the permanent increases to the base rates, multiple of them. Used to take a full week to level up enough to craft a wood foundation on day 1 in the first beta
Yeah the game becoming significantly faster and easier in this sense is the biggest change I think, I shouldve expanded way more on the breeding in hindsight, if I ever make a part 2 I'll make sure to add way more about breeding. Hope you enjoyed!
@@ShibaMaster12 I forgot that the brood came out before the other two, good catch! In terms of the gigas thing, they were still usable during bosses because they didn’t add the drag weight restriction for a decent while after adding in arenas. Hope you enjoyed!

Honestly I really enjoyed Aberration too and Extinction was great if you excluded the creatures introduced. I do think quality decreased from that point forward
Yeah I had that in the thumbnail, just said 2017 for the video to appeal to more people because that was when it launched publicly. A lot of features here were from betas!
@ It’s caused a variety of oddities in the game over the years, from disappearing bases and phantom turrets in the sky to floating giga heads and the best one in my opinion, the ability to block literally everyone on the map from being able to use dinos to harvest resources. It’s stems from 50/50 being 0 to the game, so anyone something bugs out in the game it shows up there. The phantom turrets was apparently because all turrets placed on platforms were stored at 0 in the game, so you fly past and brrr. It would be an interesting video idea come to think of it.

It's so great to hear about the 300k hp gigas. I was sure that it was like that. After a long ark break, I was very confused as I saw that gigas had somewhat around 80k hp now and was not sure if I remembered it correctly 😂
Haha yeah you definitely weren’t imagining things 😂 glad this could help
We used to make fun of "beach bobs", the players who logged once a month and never had anything besides thatch and stones
We used to play at 8 fps because we were at the tame limit of 400, laying eggs constantly
We even had to wait to tame something, because the server was so full that it capped. So you would drop a good dino, and then there was the message "server tame limit reached". I think it was the main reason for them to implement the cryopods
And finally, the milk runs, and the giga breeding, before cryopods, owls, pigs and glitches. Dark times.
Yeah I remember all these things (I played official from ~2016-2020 after playing pve for like 6 months). The Dino caps especially I should’ve mentioned in the cryopod section in much greater detail. Thanks for the throwback
@@JasesAce The official server rates from 2017 were brutal 😂
@@MarcosBettega yes. yes they were.
Shout out to the early days of Ark when the compy was broken AF. The bonus per compy wasn't calculated right so it ended up being multiplicative. A compy army was capable of melting literally everything in the game. Compy army > everything.
Is THAT why I died to those F'ers whenever I messed with them and let them group up? IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. Thanks for the comment, hope you enjoyed!
Similar case I believe with wyvern becoming breedable and had a size change when crystal wyverns were added in crystal isles.
yeah the saber did get patched first, the megalodon also got patched which i forgot to mention, shouldve mentioned both! also yeah i remember taming a theri the first time on those old incredibly slow rates and it taking literally 13 hours, just for me to continue using a scythe
also i think over 90% of the players dont know this, when we die we was using troodons to find our bags after death by taken him to the death location and let him sniff, and skull icon will show up to show where is our bags/body
man you brough the old good days back 😭 why you do this to me🥺
I remember a buddy of mine doing that all the time and I always told him to tame me a troodon if he wanted me to try that out haha, I miss the old days of ark sometimes as well when it used to be a bare bones survival game with dinosaurs. Hope you enjoyed!
One of the most significant changes that you didn't mention was getting rid of the different tiers of rocket launchers. Used to be that you could take an entire mega base out with about 20 well placed rockets and an ascendant rocket launcher.
very true, I included an image of the rocket launcher ascendant tier but didnt explicitly talk about it when I probably shouldve
NerdOut Ark songs was the best also back in the Day!
@@ocean5961 what a throwback, hope you enjoyed!
The rocketlauncher was actually available in different blue prints just like any other weapon.
A red rocket launcher with good dmg was very OP
Yeah I included that as an image to show that off without spending like 10 seconds mentioning it separately, the blueprint rockets did a boat load of damage though
oh, so many years were pass. For me 1 of most important changes was, when wildcard create transfer, and alphas start fight each others. We start create 1st alliances and game changed)
Very true, when transfers opened the game changed forever. Definitely should’ve been included. Hope you enjoyed! More to come soon
Loot stats were absolutely busted when fishing was first released. We had a Bronto with a 400 armor platform saddle and turrets on him lmao. There was also 750dmg longnecks on official that would 1 hit almost any PT
Wanted to add that it took like 130 Turtle kibble to tame that Bronto back then. We had like 50 low level females lined in our base.
Rates were absolutely horrible, very true. I definitely didn't emphasize this point enough when commenting on how everything used to be so much harder. I remember a Theri taking 13 hours to tame with super fast torpor drop as the biggest example of how hard everything was
I remember when I was 8 at 2018 my brother bought ark and we played every day together. Core memories ngl now he is 18 and i'm 15
I decided to actually try ark again and it is pretty fun now I just wanna try ark ascended and maybe have to wait 15 years for ark 2

@JasesAce thank you. God bless you and yours
I remember dodos used to make goat sounds...also the raptor sounds were actually way more fun to hear than the current ones.
Agreed the raptor sounds used to be a lot cooler, I kind of remember the dodo making a different sound I never thought of it as a goat sound tho
@@JasesAce I've tried to find anything about it and can't actually find anything about it. I feel like it wasn't at the very beginning when I played but a very short period of time. Maybe it was some bug or maybe it was a mod from where I played...but apparently the dodo sounds were actually the exact same from what they are now. Luckily the raptor sounds are still accurate in my mind from what I can find though 😆
I hope you all enjoyed! If I missed anything/got anything wrong, let me know in the comments and I'll make sure to add it to the pinned comment asap!
Small correction is the giga was bad versus the Dragon because carnivores are so weak vs that boss
@@Nateditz277 true, it was better for the megapithecus and broodmother but the dragon was still pretty easy to beat because gigas killed it so quickly!
Let's play ark together
@@Davidpedashov I'll be hosting pretty large scale ark events in a couple of months so subscribe and stay tuned!
@JasesAce ik ark give me a chance
Out of all these magnificent things mobile ark stays the same
Haha I hear it’s getting changes soon! I hope they deliver on promises for once
@JasesAce what I really hope they do is make it a bit more easier for ark mobile player's to tame a unicorn instead of having to tame a griffin💀😭
I miss a lot of the old things too, nostalgia hit when I was making this. And yeah I tried to do that with the older singleplayer world but my files corrupted and I wasn't really in the mood to redownload 100GB. Thanks for watching!
I've been playing Ark for 5 years but I have been watching Ark videos since 2017. I have NEVER used a cryo pod. And like 80% of these changes made me think: THEY CHANGED THAT???
Haha yeah a lot of stuff that gets changed is overlooked bc it seems like common sense and feels like it’s been there forever. Hope you enjoyed!
Been playing this game since the day it released (2015 not 2017) and half of these I was saying the same thing haha. Other things I would be like "it was THAT long ago?!" I swear the first round of tlcs wasn't that long ago. Time flies
@ yeah time seriously has been moving too fast. I’ve also been playing since 2015 (that’s the number in the thumbnail) I just said 2017 because that is when it full released for the video sake. Let’s hope there’s more awesome updates to come!
1.Triceratops were originally named Trikes, that’s why so many people call them it.
2. Pve you use to be able to pick up Dino’s, until corrupted Dino’s came in extinction.
1. That is in this video... lol
2. I would definitely add this if I made a part 2, that was always a fun thing to mess around with
The sabertooth also had a small tlc update before the other tlc's went live.
I remember this actually it just wasn’t on the ark wiki TLC history page (neither way the megalodon), good catch!
I remember being able to float babies in water so they would eat slower raising them , raised hundreds of Thylas that way
Haha, I had a friend that used to do that and never knew why he did it, good to know!
#1 on the list.
If you paid for The Island, then you aren't an "Ark OG", if there is even such a thing. lol
I recall being happy about being there from the start picking it up for free before it went up to 4.99 USD. ASE was also the first game that ever grew outgrew one of my hard drives. 😂
I got it for super cheap but definitely not free, I'm impressed. Hope you enjoyed
@@JasesAce I definitely did. Thank you for the upload! I'd actually forgot some of this until I saw your vid since ASE grew so fast! Fond memories mostly, but still sore about flyer speed nerf to this day. 😂
I miss that crafting noise
Now, in ark mobile, every creature still has its own kibble and a moschops is still unridable
If there’s 1 things I’ve learned from these comments it’s that ark mobile is a decade behind 😂
I miss old taiming. When you tamed dino you get his dossier i miss that time
Yeah that was a neat feature I definitely prefer that to the new method. Explorer notes have a great story behind them they should really show it off more
Let us not forget that the Sabertooth Tiger got a visual update first as well as some buffs before the three TLC updates.
I remember that because people said the sabers looked like they had nutsacks
There's a few creatures like that, the Megalodon was also changed!
Calling this Buggy mess your favorite Game is wild
It's the only game that I never get sick of, definitely a buggy mess though you won't catch me arguing that haha
Queztals still fly 50/50 they never changed that
They do, but it's only when they're on high torpor that they travel to 50/50 now. In 2017, if you hit it a single time with any type of weapon it immediately started flying in that direction. Hope you enjoyed!
I heard back in the og days of ark was that the quetzal was a really fast flyer
They were all fast, but yes the quetzal base speed was faster than today. Pumping speed obviously made them all faster fliers when that was allowed, but yes wild quetzals were a bit faster
@JasesAce yeah I played ark back then a few times but never really got a good speed glance of the quetz or even tamed one because taming back then was so long I didn't bother.. that kinda drove me away from ark a bit 😂😂
Anybody remember using vaults to surround a base before cave pvp became a thing? They were tough and almost 3 walls high.
This, and being able to clip 4 walls onto 1 wall spot, so when you blow up the outer wall you have 3 more behind it
Ascendant rocket launchers that could 1 tap metal bases
Jesus meat, raw meat that had a spoil time of 9999 days that could duplicate into stacks
@@thebeef420 vaults surrounding bases still happened during gen 1 on water pillars especially all the time, but really never left the meta, they definitely used to be even stronger though. And yes those old launchers were INSANE
@@thebeef420 also the stacking stuff was applicable to a lot of items but I remember that too!
One of my most favorite times was movement speed ptera picking people on the island during legacy.
The game was so popular at the time that there was endless people to pvp with

imagine making a cool base in that cool top volcano spot then the update rolls in
I had a friend who made a farming base up there with an anky and argy, and when he went back after the update the anky was gone and the argy was hovering over lava 😂 gotta love ark!
A lot of these are in ark mobile. Like kibble, crafting sounds, or moschops not being rideable
I hear they're updating the game significantly soon, hope they make it way better!
A while ago I was bored and tried ark mobile and ooooh maaaan the nostalgia they still have the volcano part 4:00 the og crafting sounds..
Try it and come back here but need to warn ya it's has trash preformence and only supports old devices the ones I guess pre 8gen1 mine is 8gen1 and this can't run it cuz they don't support any new chips but I played on an old device at that time.

I remember timing it a while back and I got across The Island in 32 seconds, great times.
@ truly great times 😭
OG players remember the old giga's roar, it was so much better.
definitely was more intimidating, very loud though
There are 2 things I remember in 2017
1 Ark survival Evolved came out
2. THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
WON THE SUPER BOWL !!!!!
Philly Special was great, Nick Foles is a hero
@@JasesAce yep
everytime i play ark i just get to flak armor then im sitting there wondering how the huge bases got tek and then move on, however i got new ark so im happy to see how the tek is on there
glad i could show it off!
Comeback ♥️
It's finally here! Hope you're excited for more to come very soon
Here are some things I wanted to add for maybe a part 2:
-everything was wayyyyy more buggy: it was normal that the game just crashed or you or an item bag just glitched through the floor or through a quetz platform etc
-stegos were aggressive once
-snow biome was smaller (there was this practicle half/half island)
-before there were biomes, certain animals just spawned everywhere like apes ans mammooths
-I feel like there were muchhhh less individual dinos - u could walk the beach for miles and just see maybe a trilo or something
-farming was wayy harder u could gather whole bushes and dont get anything or farm a metal note with a stone pickaxe and only receive stone 💀
Im general the old ARK had a whole nother aesthetic, vibe and atmosphere to it: colder, older, less vibrant and somehow still more realistic! I could imagine our world before 70M or something years looking like this much better than like the new ARK
Very detailed comment, thanks for the notes! I remember most of these things but they didn't come to mind when I was script writing, if I make a part 2 I'll make sure to include these
@@JasesAceglad to hear :)
I was there in phase 2 God it’s come a long way
yeah its been years since then, time really does fly!
@ yeah man I remember my first Rex. Crazy fact is before ASA my strongest Rex was the descendant of my first.
Old kibblesystem was dope
I think it had pros and cons, I did like the game rewarding players for taming everything but there’s so many creatures that making kibble farms for every unique one would be annoying nowadays
8:45 They released cryopods early because official servers were reaching global tame cap a couple months after release
yeah this was a major reason for it, but this just further shows how much of a necessity they really were at the time
Try after 2 weeks
Can we talk about the gamma ? I remember giving up because I couldn’t see anything over the glare
haha especially on scorched earth i remember this being an extremely blatant issue, what a throwback!
The real throwback here is using Sl1pg8rs footage
Love that guy, hope you enjoyed!
I fucking remember having to box my first par of Rexes in to breed them
Thank god they changed that
Yeah that was a super nice change, used to break my fingers spamming disable wandering whistle haha
For breeding you would just spam u the all stop whistle and they would stay still and keep breeding
yeah my fingers used to hurt breeding
This guy is talking about 2017 when i started playing this game in june 2015😂
Anyone remember when fear evolved was coming out and he were gonna have vampire and wear wolf buff and the zombie sabertooth skin
actually i do slightly remember that but i never put much thought into it back then so i wouldn't remember it well enough to add it as a talking point here
Og ark I miss it
me too dude, me too. more ark content coming soon!
Ark mobile has most of these things still. No tech cave, no cryopods, crafting sound.
Haha, hope they add some of the cool features youre missing out on soon!
DodoWyvern is from 2016, why did you put it in 2020 on thumbnail?
That was the last time it came out!

the beta was fun, I played it for about a year also. thanks for watching!
I wish they kept the red ascendant color. The best drop is red so why change the items? Also I’m color blind so the primitive and ascendant colors kinda screw me up especially on evolved.
Yeah I agree I don't know why they ever thought changing it was a good idea.

King daddy dmac
Ark was playable in 2015
Yeah I had that in the thumbnail, just said 2017 for the video to appeal to more people because that was when it launched publicly. A lot of features here were from betas!
The 50/50 thing was a bug
yeah that's what I heard too, not surprised that bug was in the game for at least 3 years haha
