The first Dino I tamed in my ASA play through was an otter. I was so surprised to see one spawn in the waters of South Zone 1 as I only remembered seeing them in the eastern rivers and around the redwood. The Otter was an incredible first tame! Not the best backpack of them all, but the cold insulation is super valuable that early in the game. I was able to fly into the dangerously cold snow biomes for loot crates as soon as I had my first flier. Otter doesn’t really belong on this list, but I was super happy it was my first dino
Yess team Moschops... Moschops are just little stubby balls of cuteness, even cuter when they do that little grabby animation with their paw. Perfect first tame! 🧡
Glad to see the Dilo on the list. People tend to forget them, lol. Honestly they are a great early tame. They can hold their own against annoying animals (pegos and compys), are great for getting hide early game, they're relatively speedy so they can keep up with your Parasaur without getting lost, and they can be sacrificed. They can be used as a diversion when you get in hot water, and sometimes if you have enough of them, they can surprise you, lol!
FINALLY. Someone else gets it!! The humble moschops is, hands down, the best early tame. You can get them and use them at lvl 1!!!! And if you get lucky and get a high level one, they actually hit pretty hard. They gather hide well, meat well, berries well, thatch well. They are a fantastic all around dino. Sure.. they don't have a saddle and can take a lot of damage, if you aren't paying attention, however all you have to do is just be mindful of your limits. Lastly, their eggs make great early game kibble! Breed them together early for that excellent imprinting bonus and mate boost and you can have a starter dino that quickly enables you to get a quick, strong, foothold in Ark.
Glad to see some Dilo appreciation! Getting a mate-boosted pair is a priority when I load up a new map; that early meat and hide is pretty huge. Not to mention they can make quick & cheeky sacrifices if you need to leg it 👍
Aww, love a mossychops! I'd maybe say iguanadon over the dolphin, but thats because I don't go far into the water until I can tame a Bary and have scuba 🤣
Moschops for direct tame just starting out then Iguanadon as it’s pretty fast on land, really fast in water for a land Dino, has good melee damage in upright mode and is a great berry harvester which early on trying to build up a large stock of narcotics is important.
Usually one of my top goals is to grow carrots as soon as I hit level 28 and look for a good horse. The banks of the rivers between green ob and the south coast are prime target areas. Just makes the playthrough so enjoyable to breed horses as you go. They save so much material knocking stuff out. Great for gathering narcoberries and traveling everywhere. AND, syntac once knocked out a giga with an equus
Pretty good list I do like that you included Dimorphs. I also like to get the Bigfoots. They are easy to tame like Equus BUT they make great guards, Swim well, gather berries, thatch, fiber well and are amazing bounvers. PLUS you can put armor on them. I would also consider Steggo as an alt to Trike because they add more armor. Pachy are really under rated as early tame that help knock things out like Equus and they move like raptors and have a great short sprint. How about a list or video of taming all the under rated Dinos taht people ignore, See if they have changed in ASA.
Horse should be higher up in the list! (At least up by one.) Axe I tamed a bronto with just a horse! Sure it’s rare but it’s awesome. Searching is 200% worth it. Love your videos man. 🫶 Edit: (Adding some info.) I booted up the island and found 2 horses near the east side of the map easily, though it is a very dangerous place. I didn’t have much trouble, but then again it could be luck.
@@griffincrowley1349They’re a very easy tame. All you need is some berries and bam it’s yours. So I would argue it is pretty easy, so It could be a beginner tame.
Doe (stone) and anki (berries, wood, tatch, flint and metal), plus you can shoot while riding them, making it easier to tame bigger dinos such T-rex, and they even swim a bit.
My typical tame order goes as follows. Moschops, raptor, find a bronto with a baby and liberate it. PT for drop hunting, argy, anky/dodi/mammoth. Then its boss tames. I never find otters otherwise i would have them on the list. Also its worth baby hunting baby carnos or rexs can be really easy to get some low levels strong tames to breeze through the early game. I also want to try a pack playthrough using raptors allis wolfs and hyenas while riding a uty.
Flying Dimos are sleeper OP xD tamed 8 casually took a stroll inside swamp and they wiped whole place up lmao, even killed some carnos that had a misfortune to be there, i love them so much
It is a very good list! I really wish that Equus' wasn't so "rare" on the Island - when you finally find one they'll get eaten by a pack of raptors or a rex the second after 😅
I’d honestly say the Carbonemys should be on this list, I know they are slow but they are tanks, great for base defense if built in redwood or Great Plains where dangers lurk and they can stand and tank whilst you attack also they are good underwater for taming Tusoteuthis
I mostly agree. Just make sure you don't do what I did and mistake an Alpha Raptor for a normal one. For some reason their "glow" isn't as noticeable in Ascended as it is in Evolved. I came across what I though was just an easy level 10 raptor kill until it was too late I realized my mistake as it ate my face. LOL
I disagree with the dilo, dolphin, equus and moschops. The dilo is weak. You are better skipping them and go for the raptor. Its just a bola more costwise. The dolphin is pretty situational tame. If you want to have them, you’ll need to settle on the beach, or at least have a pen for them. Which is a lot of effort if you are not on the beach. I would suggest a sarco in its place. Equus needs carrot, rare to be found and doesn’t bring too much to the table to be focused early on. Moschops are well… if you find one that needs what you have for taming, thats okay, but you shouldnt focus it. They come in handy later on tho. The best route to take in my opinion is this: 1. Dodo (base marker, fiber storage) 2. Para (on pvp) or trike (on pve) - opens up narco production (3). (Pvp) Whenever you see a dimorphodon, tame it from now on - whistle follow on them on a dino, and put them on aggressive. That’s what we call “poor man’s plant x / turret” 4. Ptera 5. With ptera, you can lure argys 6. With argies, you can pick anky, doed, beaver 7. Sarco - great meat gatherers, good swimmers (no oxygen need), i use it mostly for silica/oil/organic polymer runs, since its a nice way to travel on the seas. 8. Belzebuffo - decent solo explorer : fast, can escape nearly any though situation with the jumps, and gathers cp from insects. 9. Dung beetle. Either from a cave (risky) or from scorched earth. Its 9th because it will self sustain itself with all these dinos around, so you can skip phiomia. And also i tend to risk the cave with the belzebuffos 10. Oviraptor. Its not really 10th, since if you see an opportunity, when there is a wild baby, claim it earlier. Lvl doesn’t matter on it so thats fine. The dung beetle opens up the chance to run plantations and get into kibbleing, and thats where oviraptor is needed +1 After that what really remains are cargo dino, but i can’t really suggest any as an “early tame”, since its a nightmare to house them before cryopods, since they are large and easily sniped outside and even on pve they need a large space to keep them in. But bronto/paracer are not aggroed mostly by wildlife, so on pve bronto is the best, for its better platform saddle and more weight, but on pvp paracer is a bit more harder to spot, and navigates more easily on follow.
For PVE I'd put up the Dilo to #3. They are super easy to tame and breed and a pack of levelled and imprinted Dilos can take out almost anything. I normally run around with 6-8 Dilos and had them kill Rexes. And if you lose one it's not too bad, you can get a new one in minutes. Moschops #1 is very true though. They are amazing. And Raptor #2 too.
Sarco should be on the list. Easy tame, and bc unlike most dino's Sarcos can 180 on a dime, plus theres the who super underwater speed with the ability to carry a load and fight
Get a decent level parasaur. run up to a pack of raptors, bola the one you want, scare call the rest. Knock yours out. deal with raptors if they come back. rinse and repeat.
Ovoraptor, should be on the list, since they can now auto collect eggs from your tames, in a radius around them. Not sure what should be taken off though, probably the Dilo.
I’d disagree, they aren’t as easy to tame then you think needing eggs to tame, meaning getting another dinos then waiting for it to lay eggs to then tame a Oviraptor it’s not something you can do starting off unless you’re on unofficial with boosted lay egg intervals or mating then maybe
Not sure I agree with the Dolphin. I've always found it's an incredibly aggravating tame to do because they tend to swim away from you after the first feed. But I also might be doing it wrong :D
Axeman can you give me any tips to start RUclips and get my name out there bc I plan on making RUclips videos mostly of ASA but idk how to get my name out there
You gotta grind my guy, RUclips shorts seems to generate good views maybe do few of them every now on top of your main videos this might help, I got about 2.5k views in a week from them and I have 12 subs lol
First horse I found in ASA like right off the start area, and its a gd Unicorn too. And I have NOTHING to tame it. Then, started on single player and 3x taming off the rip...? O.o I leveld 6 levels while I was cooking a pizza, before I ever took a step lmao shit has me at lvl 55 like 60 minutes in lmao
My ONLY tame RN is a Dodo and a gd Perry. Lol I couldn't get it to take my food... But now, I realized Never put berries on the last slot!!! Ugh. No wonder he don't want my food 😅😅😅 I'm such an idiot.

If we had access to ragnarok then absolutely, but on the island it's pretty hard to get carrots.
