The graphics card alone running this is is around $2k, but everything I've seen about this graphics overhaul has been the same as the old game. It's very poorly optimized.

Yea but the 4090 is probably the only true 4K GPU. 4080 doesn't struggle with 4K but you'll get like 30-60 fps on max settings. A lot of things come into play though like bottlenecking or how well optimized the game is. 4090 is expensive af but worth it because it makes unoptimized games look smooth.
I really enjoy the game and have been just taking my time building and just enjoying ark. I literally sat for 1 hour in a chair on scorched earth and enjoyed the stormy view.

Fairly stable for me too using conservative settings on my CPU/GPU as it does push both very hard! So consoles will not find it easy without more optimisation.
I spent my hours playing Ark on the lowest settings, lowered the resolution and would be stoked if I got a consistent 20fps. The contrast is wild, I never imaged Ark could ever look like this

that walking sound while walking inside the swamp bog is soo realistic lol. Although I do love how the world looks, lots of little details should get addressed. Dino running and walking animations don't seem to work well with the actual ground. Also when dinos are killed, they seem to drop to the ground too fast.
That's because this is still a 2016 game with only a graphical improvement and some QoL changes. Basically the same game on a modded map you have to pay for 😔
This is such a huge difference in how it looks on Xbox series s to what this gentleman is using on his computer I only suggest playing this game on a top-notch computer other than that this game looks like doo doo on console!!

@@coreycarries You might be ok with it but i have 165 hz monitor and the frame gen makes all the difference in the smoothness. if you're fine with 90 fps then by all means turn off frame gen. it's just about personal preference. you def don't need it on to play, that much is true.

i have 3090 and i can´t use frame generation :c so i play 4k with everything on epic but with dlss balanced, 35 fps but looks very good, i love it, and i hope wildcard give us optimization patchs soon because RTX 3090 and RTX 4090 HAVE to run this game without problems.
If it's anything like the old Ark, it'll take 2 years to be optimized. Back when the original game came, I had a 970 on a age the TITAN was the apex GPU and could barely get 30fps at medium, while 2 years latter I could get stable 60fps at epic with the same card. I doubt it'll be such massive leap like that, but it's clear the game is currently just thrown togheter with zero optimizations at all.
@@masteroak9724 the devs used thier cry engine (devs made cry engine I think) (crytech) but it had a weird reflection thing where they were all messed up looking at certain angles etc. it was probably optimizer specifically to run on console for more money, the design was like placeholder everything, placeholder animations, etc. extremely basic in every regard besides graphics in the engine, pretty much pretty foliage but the world didn't seem believable, just dino models floating on a terrain map with stat numbers is what it felt like to me. this at least seems more organic but still stiff and awkward for a "next gen" title amd how much money theyve made
You shouldn't need a 1,000$ GPU for this tho. I paid like 600$ for my GPU two years ago and I can barely run this game on medium. Wildcard needs to step their game up, this is an old issue. They haven't even got the original ark in a playable state yet, with the under meshing and other things performance takes a back seat but it's still an issue. Tired of wildcard shenanigans, I wish it'd just work for once, no caveats.
I'm sure they could slowly work on these graphics, while they were releasing all those DLCs, but they did not, so the day they decided to increase the graphics, it already looked like a 4-6 month project of it's own, that is why they charged us with this graphics Patch!

Turn fluid and foliage interaction on, then the 3 multipliers below it set to 0.5 and the rocks stop floating.

They're being killed, they don't need to flu through the air lol, their bodies go limp so they would fall to thr ground pretty instantly
