I always find it interesting how Roger and Freddie would collaborate on the live vocals to ensure they could cover all bases in terms of hitting all the notes in the range, so that if Freddie's voice would be too strained to hit the high notes due to it being a long tour (especially in the 80s), Roger would sing main/backup vocals to help on those bits, and then they would switch back. Interesting because in the studio versions Freddie is often known for his falsetto and higher vocals, but in live performance, especially after the 70s, Freddie was delivering the deeper and very forceful vocals with lots of grit. All four of them made a great team.

I know Queen were such pros and they rehearsed more than other bands but I think when they got on stage and their musical genius side took over they got into a Jam … which I love ✌🏼💥💫✨ All four sparkled here ✌🏼 TY David. Buddie is beautiful and sweet 🥰

by the 1980 Queen employed a keyboardist called Spike Edney he became the 5th member (only when live) but it added to the overall sound

Queen invited Spike Edney to work with them in 1983. The guy who plays synths here is Morgan Fisher. On US leg of this tour Fred Mandel played keyboards .

Great reaction...don’t see a bra...someone threw a cap onstage...Freddie has his jacket hanging off his arm...as well as a brilliant performance by the whole band...Freddie’s inbuilt metronome is on point🤩

Thank you David! This came from the Hot Spaces tour and they end up making the song come to life on stage! As with many of their songs. Yes, what you saw was a bra, as I am sure Freddie had many thrown his way in his time span of performing. At some point, might want to give a listen to a demo from The Miracle called Dog With A Bone.

Roger wrote this one (or at least he got the writing credit) with some modifications from Freddie. It fully sounds like a Roger song, too. I am guessing Freddie played with the lyrics more than the actual music as the music is a little simple for a Freddie creation. Action This Day were words from Winston Churchill when documents were of an urgent nature. Roger uses drum machines on the official video. That sound was a synth (saxophone) played by their engineer Mack. I don't know who is doing it on the live, I don't think Spike was with them yet but probably in the background on the stage. Brian does have the ability to change the sound of his guitar particularly with the Deacy amp but I think this is a synth out of camera view. Brian is rocking tis with a combination of rock and blues sound, it is excellent.

React to I Wanna Testify by Roger.
Roger's first solo song, a non album single. It's b-side it's called Turn On The TV, another great suggestion.
Roger plays all th instruments and does every bit of vocal in these two songs (really a SOLO work)
I Wanna Testify was written inspired in a song that has the same name, but the original song is totally different, however Roger shared the credits with the two writers of the original song.
Turn On The TV was written by Roger.
These two songs were written at the same time as Fight From The Inside and Sheer Heart Attack, both Roger's songs from News Of The World. All the four started as solo songs, but Fight From The Inside and Sheer Heart Attack ended up in Queen.

Hiya David, Thank you for making my day!
At the end of this video, the song that Fred was starting to play next at the piano was "Play The Game" ...which you reacted to, from this same concert, about a year ago. (It's not like I'm completely obsessed with this Milton Keynes "Fire At The Bowl" concert, or like I have the setlist memorized or anything!)

In the 80's Queen started using synths. Before that they used the famous Deacy's amp, an amp Deacon had found in the trash. Amazing story behind. There's a Wikipedia page about it. In this show I don't know if someone was playing the keyboards. Later in the 80's Spike Edney would play it in the background.

      @Harry75 11 месяцев назад +2

Morgan Fisher played live synths on the European leg of the Hot Space tour, Fred Mandel took over for the American and Japanese legs and then Spike Edney for all concerts from 1984-1986.

There is a version where roger comes across clearer live in Japan somewhere, it’s a good version of the song. Also have you ever reacted to resurrection by Brian May or any of the miracle collectors addition stuff? They have previous versions of songs like breakthru is good from it and I want it all has them working on something spontaneously in the studio before they go into the earlier version

Love!! I believe the “item” that keeps flying towards the stage is a beret of some sorts! Hmmm 🤔 “Action This Day” was a statement made by Winston Churchill, printed on red propaganda stickers during World War II. Sir Brian May’s father carried a ukulele during that war. Btw, Brian & Jimi Hendrix both learned to play the ukulele first then the guitar! Sorry, went on a tangent! 🙃

The studio version is way to polished and clean for my taste.
The two songs roger wrote for hot space "calling all girls" and "action this day"
    Are pop songs.
And that is not always a good thing.

  • @alanberesford7900

No headphones David, unlike you. This Album was inspired by John Deacon. It brings back great memories of a rainy day spent in Milton Keynes, supports act Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Tear drop explodes. the hot space Album is disco inspired, which divided queen fans back in the day. at this point in Time when they played live they also had Fred Mandel , and Morgan Fisher who Freddie introduced before Crazy little thing called love Morgan played the piano. lots of Synths were used on this album, even a dreaded Drum Machine. if you like Johns base listen to Staying Power, Life is Real [song for John Lennon], Las Palabras de amour [ the words of Love], are my go to songs after Under Pressure. The track cool cat has Freddie singing at the top of the range.
