    Now that’s cool getting your crank bait back 🙌🏻 I can’t wait to come up north soon ! We were coming this weekend of the 7th but the wind looks nasty so it’s going to be the one after that hopefully

      Yeah this wind is going to be a bit questionable this weekend. Hopefully it settles down before the boys weekend we’re having this weekend lol

    That was so awesome to see you get your crankbait back on the same big fish that broke you off last time you we’re out- so cool! 👍🏻😊
    So glad to see you out with your best buddy Dertz(sp?) so he could also experience some of the same big fun you had last time by yourself.
    Btw- Crankbaits and near misses give me the cringes of all the bad possibilities!

      I actually boat flipped one earlier in the day, where the Crankbait came out and stuck in the back of my hood. I got so lucky. Boat flips and Crankbaits isn’t a good recipe

      Wow, that would have been really bad alright. I have had some real near misses on hook sets to myself and some of my partners. The worst however is when someone doesn’t look before they cast and catch one of your body parts. I had a friend not look and ended up catching the backside of my head with a treble hook crankbait. Having him actually cut the hook out of my head was so painful.😱😵

    How deep do smallmouth really go? Or more so whats the deepest you have ever caught them? I know thats a super broad question lol but I live in east Canada and some of the lakes around me are 100+ft and I just wonder how deep will they really go in the heat of the summer and dead of the winter. Thanks!

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  9 месяцев назад

      I think most fish won’t go deeper than 50ft, but there will be a lot of fish that will suspend over that 70-100+ ft range. There may be a small population of fish that go deeper than 50, but it could be hard to effectively target them
      The deepest I’ve caught one is 36fow. But I’ve caught smallmouth down 20ft over 80ft

    Awesome Ben! Wow that is a bite that smallmouth dreams are made of! HAHA And to catch a fish with your squarebill from the other day is absolutely insane but it tells you a lot about how strong, aggressive, and hungry these palegic fish get in the fall transition. We hit the same lake from last week and my 16 year son finally caught a smallie which was 20 inches long and 3.2 pounds! Had 2 muskie follow my lures but never committed. It was a super tough day as the shallow bite was gone as the weeds turned over so fast. Last week they were still a beautiful thick green and yesterday they were gone and brown on this lake. Hopefully I can get out a couple more times and hit the big water of Lake Simcoe to hopefully get a bite like yours before winterizing and storing my boat for the season.

      It got tough around here too. This changing weather has these fish a little funky but hopefully it’ll settle down and these fish will start chomping now!

  • @joespafford6499

    Based on the color of the smaller, does that mean he/she is deeper or does it identify anything with their feeding habits

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  9 месяцев назад

      I’ve tried to make sense of it, but I’m really not certain. I think those more “blonde” fish had been deeper and are fresher to shallow water, but the darker fish have spent more time shallow.
      But it’s all a guess

    Wow dude, just wow…..the odds are so crazy with smallmouth being as nomadic as they are that you got your crank bait back.

    • @brnowak_fishing
      @brnowak_fishing  9 месяцев назад

      That’s what we were thinking too. For everything to happen to get that Crankbait back is insane

    Just can’t understand why you’d want to switch hand while casting?

    • @austinbuterbaugh6658
      @austinbuterbaugh6658 9 месяцев назад

      Most of my baitcasters are swap handed. Just due to the ease of fixin backlashes and using twitchbaits/ topwaters. I have a harder time using my swimbait rod (same handed) that I do my jig rod (swap hand)
