@@jeremylutersz3374 The Clarus series is being replaced by a new series called Compre, and they will be available at all the Shimano retailers in BC by early October. The model that you might be interested in is CPCL106M2. 10'6", rated 12-20lb.
My favorite Canadian fisherman !!! Thanks Rod !!! I went to New West, under the bridge and didn't catch Pink yet. I think I had a wrong bait and set up. :)
I demo in my last video the ultimate lower Fraser jig fishery. Once you are over their travel route, just wiggle a jig at the right depth. They will love it. Often they just grab it lightly and you can tell its on by the line not being pulled down by the jig dropping, super subtle and super common. We caught so many just holding the rod in the opposite hand and standing or sitting or some stopping of motion. I caught so many with my off hand lol
@@FishingwithRod hmmm, yes, have been thinking that…..might also trawl through some of your clips re fishing lodges etc. Have visited Tofino before but haven’t fished there. Plus so many other possibilities. 😆
12:20 That is the steadiest drone shot I've ever seen. I was up Indian Arm - I guess it was in the early '90s, and at places the pinks were so thick on the surface you might think you could walk on their backs from one side of the Arm to the other. This was in deep water. God knows how thick they were below the surface.
Moderate/slow twitching motion with a 1/8 oz jig this year absolutely annihilated pinks in the Englishman, Oyster, Quinsam and Salmon river. Almost took the fun out of it!
I have seen people do terrible damage to fish trying to twitch jigs, foul hooking 10 or 20 in a row. Just remember if you're foul hooking fish you need to change your technique. I love twitching, but I don't do it when there are large schools of fish around.

Thanks Rod👍🇨🇦
That Shimano Clarus 10.6 rod isn’t made anymore. Any suggestions on a rod made by Shimano that’s good for salmon and steelhead.

Great collaboration! Looks like a lot of fun
It was!

Glad you liked it!

Jeff is a better fisherman one handed than me with 2 hands 😂
😂
Great colab!

Those drone shots were awesome
Thank you 🙌

Thanks 👍
Awesome vid from both(colab).. Jeff, what was your set up for your rod, thanks.. ie action, length etc.
Nice to see from above how they actually go after those jigs. Been a fun season.
Now if only we can see the same conveyor belt for coho... 🙂

Hey Rod where are you guys fishing. And where did you pick up those pink jigs
Those are from Jig Geek, I’ve pinned the comment with the link to their website. This is the Fraser around Chilliwack which is now closed.
We have been killing pinks twitching. It's my favorite style of salmon fishing.
What was that company's name with the jig heads and jigs that you were using??? Thanks
Jig Geek. The link is in the description and pinned comment.

What Smith Sunglasses are those, Rod?
Those are the Guides Choice. 🙂
@@FishingwithRod Ooh ok, the new ones then! Thanks! I must have the old version.
Camera shy. lol that was funny.
Are you not able to keep these pinks? Or are you releasing them because you don’t eat ‘em?
Yes you were when it was still open. I didn’t catch any and Jeff didn’t want to keep any I guess. 🙂
That's when you need to micro twitch with a 1/4 or 1/8th jig.
Definitely.

Why don't you guys fly fish ?
Yep fly fishing would have been fun too.

Can I join you for a fishing trip
No
Just wait for Rod to set up the "win a day fishing with rod" contest.
I don't really take people fishing unfortunately, but if you see me out there I'm always happy to chat and make a few casts. 🙂
When Fraser River will open for fishing again?
It should reopen for salmon fishing in early November. Look for the fishery notices posted on my FB or IG.
