@grippinglipsfishing5671 Yes, six largemouth, but only one over 15". I have not been able to connect with any lunkers since the prespawn. That's the reverse of last year, in 2022 I caught my PB 6.3 lb largemouth on August 1st and had a bunch of late summer success, but totally blew it during prespawn.
Matt, you and Tim keep putting out high quality videos that eliminate us weekenders from having to search for the right stuff. I really appreciate what you do and enjoy every one. I don't care how much you get but you are way under paid. History will look back on you with much favor. Thank you so much.
I’m glad you went into detail about the rods because I’m absolutely clueless when it comes to matching certain baits to different rods. I mainly throw off my 6’10 medium rod for all baits. I probably need to start investing into them more instead of reels and bait.
Ark Rods makes a 7’4 Med Heavy rod with a super soft tip and it’s really nice for making super long cast. It’s under their Brandon Cobb series and I can’t recommend it more!
Matt you and Tim are awesome! Your videos are enjoyable to watch and really helped me a lot on my decisions on gear! I'm a weekend warrior and in the past have spent money on gear to only find out it isn't what I was after! This year I've bought two Curado's (MGL 150) and a Curado BFS reel due to your videos and man you guys are spot on, these reals are awesome! I peered the two MGL up with the St. Croix Mojo Bass 7'1" Med Hvy Mod rods for cranking and I couldn't be happier! Thanks guys!
I have been burning a Lucky Craft Gunfish 95 on my lake aka “Dink Sink” and have been constantly catching 20-25 in the morning/evening. That small, skinny profile along with a very aggressive walk-the-dog action is absolutely electric
I haven't caught a topwater fish in 2+ years. My fishing has basically stopped in the last 3 years, so I'm living vicariously through this channel. Thanks guys!
MATT!!! NO NO can’t give up the Bladewaker by Teckel! Lolol especially on the Chic! That bait is my ultimate cheater bait for when the Bass get tuff on Chickamauga and that’s been every outing here as of late lol.
I think it would also be worth noting that any of the spinning topwater baits like the plopper and a buzzbait if you're retrieving over water that has the debris like pine straw or grass they can also get tangled up I've had a buzzbait get wrapped up in Pine straw
It's raining it's a** off right now where I'm at. I've always had crazy buzzbait times in the rain this time of year especially in September and October
Dude- you recommended the 13 Fishing Concept A- it's been a good while back, and I finally grabbed one. But on the same shopping trip I got a kit to recharge my air conditioner in my truck- so I set the reel on my rear bumper while I did it. So finally, I get the AC charged up- gave me trouble- and then I crank up and drive home. Get here and decide to go ahead and set the reel up and put it on a rod- and finally it hits me what I've done. I left it on my rear bumper and drove home- and of course it's no longer on the bumper. So, I drive back to town fully expecting to sweep up the pieces of my new 150$ reel- or for someone else to have found it and done it for me. Nope- it's sitting on the side of the road- out of the box- not a single mark on it. I couldn't believe it- it's perfectly fine- and I found the box and papers with it. You can't tell it ever happened. Hats off to 13 Fishing for making a tough reel and packaging it nicely. And thanks to you for recommending it- I love it, used it this morning. I've got it on a worm and jig rod- 13 Fishing Omen Black- extra fast. At least I think it's a worm and jig rod- may turn out to be a better open water frog rod.
The Spro frog is great until the weight pops out! I always go to the Chasebaits Flexifrog instead now, similar action but it's an elastomer soft plastic and I get better hookups with a single hook.
Is there a video of the different topwaters for different scenarios. Ive always just thrown what i felt. Usually the whopper or a retrieve toad like the rage toad or keitech. Sometimes the bbz rat if im targeting spots
i need to find a decent mini buzzbait. the regular size ones dont work for smallies. I've tried a lot. Theyr're also very finicky and pressured in the upper potomac too. More often then not they dont really go after much but finesse baits and tubes. Jigs, spinners, jerks, cranks, swimbaits, and top water very rarely ever work
Question for the zodias kiara frog rod I don’t see a 7’1” heavy they got a 7’1” heavy plus it’s rated up to 2oz seems kind of much, was wondering if you might of meant to say the 7’2” heavy it’s rated up to 1.5 I’ve been looking for a kiara frog rod for ahwile now thanks for all the tips and tricks.
I’m enjoying the hellraizers. However, I feel the front treble is too large and often gets caught in the split ring or line. I downsized it on one to test.
Hey Matt, great topwater video! I'm looking for a buzzbait rod to throw the Jamaica boa. What would you recommend in the Shimano Expride or destroyer p5 lineup?
Definitely an unrelated questions, but for the sake of wanting versatile combos, how does that MBR do throwing a jerkbait? I always hear that topwater rods are great jerkbait rods, but since it’s a MH just wondering if the power is too much
Whats your ideal applications for the curado 200 M? Ive got one in my tw cart right now. Was trying to find an appropriate rod to pair it with. Whats the sweet spot been for yall so far?
It's a power fishing reel for sure given the 200 size. Mine is currently slinging a 6" Magdraft but would also be awesome for deep cranking, jig fishing, big topwater, and really all other forms of reaction bait.
I do like the bait rotation. I've been noticing that the fish in my reservoir love jerkbaits and topwater walking baits (Evergreen 105 and others), but they won't bite a crankbait to save their lives. I'm wondering if they are just desensitized because they are pressured by eleventy-billion crankbaits.
Hey Matt. I’ve been getting into topwater lately and got a skirtless KVD TOAD BUZZ. What benefits do you think the skirtless buzzbaits have over the skirted buzzbaits?
Used to throw the 190 whopper plopper on way under-powered gear and still managed to land a few over 5 pounds on it. I can't help but laugh thinking about how silly it was.
If you run from a bull, any bull he will never forget it, you just trained him. As long as this community is practicing catch and release, you are educating the schooling fish for the next generation. An old crappie fisherman told me long ago, never return a fish to the same waters. YMMV
@@youtubzkoz Wrong again corrigcan, I grab my bull by the horn and we wrestle through the gate of course, then we talk and I scratch and pet. I ran him and his two boys in with the cows tonight. My point to my point is the fallacy we deserve to be 'sport fisherman'. IMO I should fish for the joy of it, not catch more than I could eat and stop when the catch of the day is done. Isn't that quite Indian? For a dumb old white guy I'm catching on to the kingdom at hand even though it has taken years to get there. The sport fishing industry and it's greed have not arrived yet.
Yeah don't get in with the bull you don't know. Thing like that doesn't make them trained. It's basic instinct for most animals to chase after things which run...
I think my pond fish are too hit lol I've tried every topwater I have but they're not interested. I was finally able to nail a couple on a jig yesterday
Don't sleep on the megabass jerkbait special for walking topwaters . Its not a one trick pony .My bobby special frog has deformed , and I have had one spro paddle frog melt its legs . The other caught a giant and she ran off with it . Cant wait for saturday ....
I have enjoyed your videos for years. I know I am in the minority on this topic but I am a person that uses spinning gear almost 100% of the time. When you bring up BFS in almost every video it saddens me. Instead of saying BFS it should be just finese fishing. I would love it if you would do a video on power spinning gear for those of us who specialize in that. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
I just pulled up to my favorite fishing spot for some top water fishing. Matt your video couldn't be more on point for me this morning.
Then go fish it and get off the phone lol
@@fishncoach8699😂

@grippinglipsfishing5671 Yes, six largemouth, but only one over 15". I have not been able to connect with any lunkers since the prespawn. Just caught my first topwater recently on a shower blows 105!!! Super fun! Can't wait to upgrade to more topwater 💯

It’s also $100 but feels like a $250 rod
Thanks!

I'm starting to dig the Evergreen JT95. It walks so easy and in some of my local waters that are clear, that silent walking bait gets em.
Great tips love top water that little frog is money
One blade of grass…..ONE BLADE!!!!
That’s my entire day on the water!! I always find grass when I’m not looking for it! Lol😂😂😂😂❤❤❤

Thanks for sharing Matt, good stuff
i’ve been waiting for this 😅
Thanks for the video.
That JT Evergreen Walker piqued my interest as I’m searching for some silent topwaters for inshore Redfish and Seatrout🤠Looks like a winner👍🏻
I haven't caught a topwater fish in 2+ years. My fishing has basically stopped in the last 3 years, so I'm living vicariously through this channel. Thanks guys!
Why? Go fish bro
@@scottvaughn9565 Among other things, I can't afford it.
Wow, that hell raiser looks great..
Never seen one but I'm definitely going to order a few
I've had great results on the Riser bait as well
I've had one on backorder since January. I wish I could get my hands on one.

Just caught a 7 pounder a few days ago on the whopper plopper.
Speaking of frog rods, Senkostix makes an incredible frog rod!
Lowkey tho this channel still has one of the best intros since it doesn’t use extreme edm.

Nishine Lure Works Erie 115TW is another good top water lure.
That's a rage blade.
On the back
The Hellraiser's weighted blade looks like it came straight from the Strike King Rage Blade Swim Jig

Best summer dam fishing baits next?
