Expride 6’10 M. Such a versatile rod. In tournaments I have a topwater tied on in the morning. Then later on I can switch over to a texas rigged senko, lighter spinnerbait, jerkbait, free rig (if my spinning rod is occupied). The list goes on and on!
Megabass Destroyer P5 Cyclone is an underrated rod for poppers between 3/8 to 5/8oz. I used as low as 1/4oz lures too. Being a 6'6" is nice for shore and kayak fishermen.
The St. Croix Legend Xtreme 7’1” Medium Heavy Extra Fast, is a killer topwater rod. I use it for all my poppers, walking baits, small crawlers, and buzz baits. It does it all, and it’s got a responsive tip, but also enough backbone to get a good hook set.
For a cheaper option the base Tatula or even the older XT in the medium light is amazing for smaller topwaters and flukes. They don't break the bank and have that moderate bend for when you are using trebles, but work great on a single hook if you give them a bit of a hook set. I use the medium light with trebles on top, with 30 lb braid to 15 leader, works great for smaller things, no need for real hookset, just load and reel.
@Ben I am a kayak fisherman mainly and I like to have very versatile rods to cut down on number of rods carried. In your opinion what would you suggest as a versatile small pop x to standard one ten jerkbait rod?
The Javelin is a great topwater rod for the 105 and 125 Shower Blows. I used it on Lake Lanier this past weekend and I'm about to buy another. The cyclone is a good one for the pop max.
Fishing from the bank and using small top waters , my Levante jerbait special is great , i use it for : Top water , jerbait ,and also really fun with lipless ! 🎉
What about the valkyrie series? I like the collapsible handles, that is one feature I find hardest to find in a topwater/jerkbait rod, a shorter handle.
Been using a cheap Lews combo but it seems to work for now even tho the reel twists in the reel seat. Hoping to upgrade soon or after the wedding (hope you guys got the invite)
What line are yall using for your mid size and smaller topwaters? I've just been using regular 12 lb mono but wondering if there's something better. Not really a fan of braid for anything that has treble hooks on it.
@@craigtaylorfishing right on, pretty sure I have the regular suffix elite on it now and honestly it's been fine, nice line for the price. Just always curious what other people use haha
@@randybobandy6020 Yeah man, I've been using it for a few years now on a 17 Scorpion DC. Can launch a Gunfish pretty darned far on it. I'm in Southern California, so like Ben was saying in the video, we also deal with Bass schooling up on micro Shad over 50-120 feet and they move fast, and are very tricky to fool in clear water reservoirs. Long, accurate casts are necessary! Tell Mr. Lahey I said what's up! haha!
I’ve already made 2 purchases this week, actually 2 the same day 😂 I might be adding a third. Man this channel is amazing but my bank account thinks differently 😂 😂. It’s all good though you only live once. Thanks Ben and everyone at the shop you guys really have something special going.

Second that. I use it when I fish smaller creeks.
Thats exactly how i rock my md/fast veritas but i wouldnt mind upgrading. Thanx
P5 super destroyer is also a great short open water/small frog rod. I've been using it for a few years like that.

I am 100% with you guys on topwater being the best and not keeping my triple chin always looking down at the screen 😂😂

What line?
Expride A 6’10” medium for poppers and jr. sized walking baits is killer
Bought a madbull because u suggested it and it was awkward at first but now it’s my go to rod for so many techniques. Love that thing
Megabass Destroyer P5 Cyclone is my dedicated Pop Max, Giant Dog-X and I-Wing Fry rod. It’s tough to beat
Great video I need to know if you can told about megabass megadog 180 or deps pencil 220 what rod do I need for those bait ?
Ben I have fallen in love with the p5 cyclone for walking top water baits. It is so light and easy to walk baits with. It’s an amazing rod

I use the perfect pitch for open water frogs. It is an excellent rod for the money!!

I've recently found that the kicknockers work great walking with 8:1 reel and braid..so fun using just the the reel IMO.

I like the 843 mbr for walking baits and love the p5 dark sleeper for buzz baits also the p5 kasumi 611 for bfs top water
Nrx+ 843C. Greatest rod of all time. It does it all!
Any budget recommendations for the last rod for frogs?
Cool video gents i think its safe to say all bass fisherman love topwater season it will get you amped up for sure 🙏🎣
What about the valkyrie series? I like the collapsible handles, that is one feature I find hardest to find in a topwater/jerkbait rod, a shorter handle.
I always used the Shimano/G Loomis Conquest CNQ 843C MBR 7'; I can do mostly everything i want to do
Been using a cheap Lews combo but it seems to work for now even tho the reel twists in the reel seat. Hoping to upgrade soon or after the wedding (hope you guys got the invite)
They're a little lowbrow for your shop but my favorite topwater rods are the Dobyn's 70XCB series. 704/5/6CB just depending on the size of the lure.
How would the new Zillion 6'10" MH handle 5/8-3/4oz walking baits?
Froggin bestest top water ever💯🇨🇦🎣👊👊😎
I use the destroyer otomat for all my topwater. I probably shouldnt use it for 3/4oz but i do. Doesnt really bother me much
What's a good rod for megadog
I throw the 843 and 844 gloomis GLX MBR and love them
Dobyns 733C for Vixens/Kick-Knocker
Thank ben and Jeff it's appreciated appreciated
Would the diablo spec R in the orochi series be decent for throwing the kicknocker ?
I really like the Shimano Expride B 6/10 M.
Not as " bougie" as your recommendations but I don't cry if something happens to it
The frogman by Raid is 🔥…love that stick!

Suffix Elite Camo 10# with a Gunfish 75 is absolutely deadly.

Been catching a bunch of bass lately on a pop max with my tequila bacarrac. Sweet rod
What about the P5 PopX stick?
Totally thought the BOGO ended today Tuesday for anniversary sale. My cart doubled in 💲🤣
I really love the levante flat side special with a Kik knocker pup
I don’t have a lot of rods. My Dragoon is my Kicknocker rod all day long.
I'm currently running an orochi perfect pitch for froggin
thanks for sharing

5 minutes in and you haven't mentioned a single rode....
Nothing beats a TW bite!
