'You stole him from us': Parkland victim Chris Hixon's family addresses Nikolas Cruz in sentencing

- The wife, sister, and son of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School athletic director Chris Hixon, a Navy veteran who died trying to stop the 2018 Parkland shooting, walked up to the podium one by one to address Nikolas Cruz directly for the first time - something none of the victims' families were not allowed to do during the trial.
"You are unfortunately living proof that evil does exist in this world," Hixon's son, Thomas, said. "You are going to be relegated to a name on a tombstone that no one ever visits."

I respect Chris Hixon's wife so much.
She was certainly the best spoken of all family members (of the deceased) and most polite in Court. She brought a strong and touching message on behalf of her husband, in a very professional demeanour.

@@tamarakeinz3185 ....I have it in my files,...I have screenshots of this event being reported days earlier on the 12th. I also confirmed that David Hogg wasn't even a real student. He was in fact, 20 years old at the time who had already graduated high school in Redondo Beach, CA. two years earlier in 2015. He lied about where he was when it allegedly happened as he gave two completely different stories as to his whereabouts. And his father works for the FBI, and his mother has close ties to CNN News,........Now all that can't be just by coincidence.
This family shows just how much of a hero their husband, father was. I pray they find peace !

When the Shooting happened in 2018?
An average murder trial takes 2 years or more to reach the courtroom in the USA. It also didn't help that we had a pandemic during that time period. There was an overwhelming amount of evidence, testimony, witnesses, etc. involved, on top of it being a high profile, capital murder case to decide his fate.

This is why statements from families should be given to the court long before hand and not spontaneously spoken. No one should be allowed to threaten children or adults. We are here because someone killed people that's bad enough. The defense team didn't do it, their client did. If this is how our courts are going to act then statements need to end for now. At least until people can act appropriately.
The court doesn’t allow the impact statements to be a factor in the decision .
@@rutherfordbhayes423 I agree with that, but at this point all decisions have been made. He can't be killed, and everyone agrees he will get life without parole, this is just a formality. Again, I don't think it's healthy for anyone but especially our society in general having these sort of things. I watched our political system from the 70s become negative, and said then, it won't fare well in the future, and I was right. If people could say something like, 'by what you did hurt me so terribly and I will probably never recover. What's worse though is that I will never be able to see my child/loved one or interact with them ever again' sort of thing, would be a more fruitful thing for them and everyone else sort of thing. I'm just trying to see what would be better for the families and society in general because I doubt what they did say will ever change what happened.

These defense attorneys have a job to do. It’s not their fault or their children’s fault that they have to defend this dude.

The defense giving the middle finger to the court ; never once in five years displaying any humanity to the families as one human being to another ? Accusing the families of inciting violence as in Paul Pelosi incident . You have a right to your opinion ,but I respectfully disagree . As I see it one juror who was firmly against the death penalty and had no business in that jury .You do realize that the verdict essentially overturned the death penalty in Florida . If he didn’t get it no one can get it . A horrible think happened to them and I don’t think you can judge them unless you walk in their shoes .
