I used to work in a music shop and one of the guys in Dismember used to get his guitars setup and fixed by me before/after tours. One time he came in with a HHM-2 that had a busted pot. (For like the fifth time since they didn't use gates back then, just stomping it on and off between breaks) Anyways... Since i knew what the settings was i asked him if it wasn't simpler to just remove all of the pots and solder "straight through" "Shure why not.. I'm not turning those suckers anyways" We ended up with a HM-2 with no knobs what so ever... and since all the nobs "steal" a little even att full throttle that one ended up being the "Turbo-HM-2" Later he told me he used it on "Where Iron Crosses Grow" since it had a little more of everything.

“W”olverine like “Water”. By the way, the hm-2 is suppose to go into a DIRTY channel. For that over saturated death sound. Preferably with an EMG 81 pickup in the bridge.
Since you have this amp, it would be great if you made a video about Chuck Schuldiner's guitar tone (he used the same amp on most of his albums). Cheers!

Nightmares Made Flesh was indeed recorded using the HM-2, but the sound was so heavily edited/mixed by Dan Swanö that it sounds nothing like that classic Swedeath sound you hear in this vid. Both are great tho, not trying to bash either one. Personally prefer the NMF sound.

I ve used boss hm 2 over years in many amps and it works not good in the gain channels. To much Feedback ,i know that dismember do this very well in the gain channel of Marshall jcm.But in my Randall G3 plus it works very bad.Record one track with boss hm 2 in clean channel and one tracks with the gain channel of your amp. This works and give you a unique and awesome Sound.
If I remember correctly Mika from Rotten Sound dials the dist back on his HM-2. All those modern bands that use the HM-2 make small alterations to that all-10 setting. I also found you can also get a neat octave down effect if you set the high knob to some low value.

5.40 in video, Ola playing raw chugging thrash riffs with the Boss HM-2, pure GOLD, this is exactly the type of riffing I like playing best with this cult pedal, as well as many other old school metal guitarists in the 80's when this pedal existed for some years before the Swedish death metal scene 🤘
Why does this vid have over 200 downvotes? Why would you come to such a niche video and give it a thumbs-down? Like, if you don't like Swedish metal/Ola/Feared etc, how would you even find this video? I just don't get it.
Hey Ola, why don't you do a tone video for Slaughter of the Soul? It' such an iconic album and has a gorgeously thick tone. I'd love to hear you try to get as close to it as possible.

At the gates didn't use the HM2 to distort the sound, but rather to shape it. The main pedal that was providing the distortion was the metal zone. also, some say they used another overdrive or boost pedal
The active tone controls are what make the HM2 so crazy. I often ran mine as a 'EQ', with the gain bottomed out.
Errr... in Eastern US, it would be Wool - Ver - Reen, but dialects vary, just do you. Great video, man!
Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, if you start the word "wolverine" with a v-sound, you can pronounce it however you like - it's totally metal from there! :D
In American English, W is almost a vowel sound, and very literally like to U's together, and sounds like those little shouts that Tom Warrior peppers classic Celtic Frost songs with: OOH-UH! So woolverine sounds something like ooh-ulver-een....
I prefer "Vool-vair-een Bloose" so much, though, that I resolve to pronounce it this way from now on....

Det är väldigt skumt att höra dig snacka svenska efter flera år av engelska. Man hör ju svenska i The Haunted vloggerna men annars liksom. wtf Ola.
Hur man blir utskickad från 4sound på 2 röda
HAHHAHAHA!! Sant, tyvärr.
Hahah köpte en Boss DS-1 och blev nästan utslängs för att ha maxat ut alla inställningarna👍
faan sant asså
Patrik Nessbo ha snacka om att inte ha någon respekt.
Lidl musik...
5.40 in video, Ola playing raw chugging thrash riffs with the Boss HM-2, pure GOLD, this is exactly the type of riffing I like playing best with this cult pedal, as well as many other old school metal guitarists in the 80's when this pedal existed for some years before the Swedish death metal scene
🤘
Vulvarine blues is certainly one of my faves aswell. I does also give me the blues...
Why does this vid have over 200 downvotes?
Why would you come to such a niche video and give it a thumbs-down? Like, if you don't like Swedish metal/Ola/Feared etc, how would you even find this video?
I just don't get it.
RUclips recommendation
DS-1 fanboys
"WOLVERINE" with a W haha. Left hand path and Clandestine alums were Entombed best albums in my opinion \m/
Clandestine was a killer album.... It's what got me into the death genre.
Yngwie Malmsteen is Swedish too and you're both great guitarists. Thanks for the Swedish music guys. ❤️
Nice set up, looks and sounds rad my far away friend.
His reaction at 7:25 on the "hiss" tone kills me. "Yes!!" Lmao...
The greatest Swedish guitar sound is on Opeth-Still Life (not lead, but riffs, also clean parts maybe in top 10 in the world)
Clandestine. Sounds like a bad toothache.
Storm Of The Light’s Bane and Enter the Moonlight Gate
You need to check out the band Nails
HM2 is known for the Swedish death metal sound, but it's actually a very diverse pedal. David Gilmour used it on On the Turning Way
Oh thank you. My first pedal wasn't the HM-2, it was an antique RAT pedal, but when I got my HM-2....oooohhhh the sounds I made.
Hey Ola, why don't you do a tone video for Slaughter of the Soul? It' such an iconic album and has a gorgeously thick tone. I'd love to hear you try to get as close to it as possible.
