Vernon Reid - the singer - has the exact same vocal stylings as Ozzy or any original metal band. So even your argument of the band being 1/3 metal is wrong, and Lars Ulrich counts as a metal drummer so a toddler tossing a stick into the air at a drum kit counts as a metal drum track. The differences are bigger when you add vocals and context and background of each subgenre. Each subgenre have a disctinctive feel. Some riffs sound desperate, other are nasty, other rude, other more atmospheric or emotional, but need to listhen the whole songs to catch the vibe.

    • @fluffy9860

The differences are sometimes very minor, but metal genres get sublabeled to hell and back, in my opinion. I'm not sure whether it's beneficial to the genre or not. There's like a few distinct sounds that are definitely something entirely on it's own but there's a lot of intermixing that the intense subgenres aren't really that necessary.
